As it stands, Salah is seriously contemplating an offer from the MLS, as he thinks it would be good for his family. Didn't mention which team it is, but probably not hard to guess as only a select few can afford/has a designated player spot for him.
As it stands, he hasn't yet received anything from Saudi, hence why he is leaning towards MLS for now.
Things change, but just wanted to share this direct from my source for now.

I do not see the political climate being acceptable for him and his family over there in any way.

Miami? Florida has zero state tax. CA is progressive to 13.3%. I would imagine that plays into the equation. San Diego easily the best quality of life with climate (average is about 22 w low humidity). Florida not the best QOL and the weather can be brutal (high humidity).
Swings and roundabouts. I travel all over the country with work and without doubt southern CA is the best QOL, but not perfect ie high taxation. Hence why may companies are leaving the state.

Kaiser, with my work (former military), I've travelled a lot and spent a good amount of time in the Middle East. What I learned was that people are inherently good and politicians and news media make things seem way worse than what they are.
Life is good here in the USA despite the political turmoil that we see on the TV. Salah would live in an incredible community with first class security and lifestyle.

Salah would be going to the States as a major asset. He wouldn't need to worry about politics, as he would be shielded from everything toxic while at whichever club he chooses.
This isn't some 36-year-old who played down the leagues and is going for one last payday. Salah will cost a lot, but also his name will bring in a massive amount of revenue for the club.
Elite footballers like Salah can play anywhere in the world and be adored. American people are more diverse than we think. We only see the extremes as that is where the headlines are.
As long as he stays away from politicians, for them to raise their popularity through him, I would say Salah will be fine.

Believe it or not, the political climate really mostly only affects people here who choose to pay attention to it. The ICE crap from last year was way more exception than rule and it's been over for a while. Salah would have no more issue here than in most places in Europe.
We have a lot of crazies in Washington, but most of the country is pretty sane (I mean, quite a few places vote really stupidly, but are otherwise sane). I'd think chances are very good he'd really enjoy it here.

FWIW San Diego FC is owned by Egyptian Mohamed Mansour, and he has expressed his desire to bring Mo to the club in the past.

Your source is full of it. Salah has 3 Saudi offers on the table, one from Al-Ittihad, one from Al-Nasr and one from Al-Ahli. His wife is not so keen on Saudi, hence him considering other options like the MLS, but to claim Saudi has no offers for him is the biggest lie to date I have read on here.

Somebody really got out on the wrong side of the bed this morning, and needs to rant/abuse to get validation to go through the rest of the day.
08 Jun 2026 11:24:02
Abuse? Alright mate, sorry for sharing what I know to almost be 99% fact, you believe what you want. ? Just don't know why so many pretend to be itk is all that is slightly annoying.

ArneSlotsBarber, mate, almost 99% of what we read here is opinion, conjecture, projection and wish. Nothing is really factual until it is reported as such, as having happened. So, I just think it is really harsh to label people as "liars" on the site.
They could be wrong, you could be wrong. Nothing personal against you at all, but I just feel, being in a collective and having a common goal in being here, we could address each other with respect and kindness. There's enough s*** around us everywhere else.
08 Jun 2026 12:33:03
You're right, mate. ? Thanks and apologies. ?
08 Jun 2026 12:43:29
No apologies required whatsoever, am happy you're not offended or anything. ?

Red Flyer, so true. I've travelled extensively and the one thing that I've learned is that you do not know what a country is like until you have been there yourself. The news media paints an awfully distorted picture.
I was told I wouldn't get a visa because I look Arab/North African. The embassy staff were warm and friendly and so were the people in the US.
