Hi Ed’s, hope you’re well.

Apologies of this has been discussed.

In regards to Naby and his injuries, is there more to it?

I can’t help but think Klopps had a massive fallout with him during the season and just used them as excuse.

What are your thoughts?

Cheers.

09

{Ed001's Note - no he just had a crap lifestyle and spent far too much time out and about when he should have rested.}

1.) 30 May 2023 09:51:06
Possibly our biggest waste of money ever and unless he bucks up his ideas then there is no way his career will ever see him playing at an 'elite' club again. I'd be amazed if any of the bigger clubs are looking to bring him in right now. Complete waster.

2.) 30 May 2023 10:34:58
Lad was a complete let down! I’m more let down klopp kept with him instead of being rid of him! Fergie would have murdered him! Hope klopps stops the nice guy stuff!
Good riddance to bad dirt.

3.) 30 May 2023 11:00:25
I’m sick of seeing people talk about keita as though he was brilliant when he wasn’t injured! Let’s face it, on the rare occasions he did play he was poor most of the time, pulling out of tackles, not tracking his man but cos he scored a couple of decent goals all the rest seems forgotten about!

4.) 30 May 2023 11:06:50
Arthur isn't too far behind him in terms if value for money. We paid about €9m in loan fee and wages for 13 minutes of football in a game we got pasted 4-1.

I cannot believe the money we've wasted in recent years with mistakes like this.

5.) 30 May 2023 11:08:01
He's just a poor player with a lousy attitude and we were warned about it before he arrived.

Was subbed at half time or before for being terrible 4 times in his Liverpool career. Can't think of any other player that's happened to.

6.) 30 May 2023 11:13:37
That's what I'm so confused about, Jay. Klopp has been ruthless in the past when he needs to, like with Sakho. So I don't get why he's so lenient with Keita.

Klopp has also been quite willing to let players go, even if they performed decently for us and are hard workers, like Minamino. My only guess is that Klopp has a group of favourites in the squad and unfortunately for us, Keita is part of that group.

7.) 30 May 2023 09:59:17
Fair enough Ed, makes sense

Appreciate the reply!

{Ed001's Note - very welcome mate.}

8.) 30 May 2023 10:36:41
Ed01, I remembering you saying the exact same thing about Naby during one of the podcasts in early 2020. That's when my head went with this guy. People kept making excuses for him saying like "It's not his fault he's always injured" without ever asking why is he ALWAYS injured. Never bothering to ask whether he is alays injured cos he doesn't take care of himself well enuff. And sadly even after I gave him chances, nothing changed. In fact, it got worse season after season overall.

If only his fan club on social media and Twitter knew what type of guy he was off the pitch, they wouldn't have been as quick to slam everyone who had the audacity to criticise him. This is why I love this site and the info you guys give cos without it, I'd be just like them. Thanks for all you do, Ed01 and to the other Ed's out there.

{Ed001's Note - I really don't understand why he got such love. The Naby Lad crap from the club didn't help. Making him out like he was one of us when he was just a chancer.}

9.) 30 May 2023 11:33:48
I think klopps likes the lads lads the sound boys not messers but lads that get on with every one because klopp likes a good vibe!

Mk I get Melo was woeful signing but again down to klopp!
And in melo’s defence against Keita I read plenty about melo doing extra training staying late to try get fit etc at least he tried I’d nvr put him in the sham Keitas category!

10.) 30 May 2023 12:04:24
The Keita Hype Train was always strong and I could never understand why. Any time he'd near fitness we'd be hearing from fans about how we'd see the 'real' Naby Keita once he was back in the team and fit. Remember as recently as pre-season last year getting it in the neck about not supporting our player from a couple of normally sensible people for pointing out I'd like to see him do it in competitive matches and not just friendlies.

But the truth is, we'd been seeing the real Naby Keita all along. Even when fit for a period, he'd struggle to put in a consistent 90 minutes, much less string several games together. Standard Keita performance was to play for the first 15 minutes and then disappear until half time. He'd play for another few minutes in the second half before disappearing again and getting subbed by the 70 minute mark. Basically, you'd play half a game with 10 men.

And let's not forget the brief period a few people tried to make out he'd leapfrogged Henderson in the pecking order last season. Yeah. How'd that work out then lads?

If I'm taking one thing from this season it's that I'll never have to see that waster on our team sheet again.

11.) 30 May 2023 12:16:14
Ultimately, it is on the club for not moving him on a couple of years ago. The same goes for Ox.

I don't think it's the biggest faux pas we have made in the market recently. I would say some of the non-action has been far more costly to the club. We have paid for going into 4/ 5 seasons short in one department or other.

12.) 30 May 2023 12:24:05
Time for a new username?

To be fair I often felt we’d have been better off playing with Keith than Keita!

13.) 30 May 2023 12:50:53
Agreed exactly SR. biggest positive is he isn't here anymore and watch his lifestyle change now, surely no big team will touch him now. What an absolute waster.

14.) 30 May 2023 13:26:42
FPF, i think the two could be related. We didn't move Ox and Keita on earlier, causing us to haemorrhage cash we could have desperately used for new signings.

15.) 30 May 2023 13:08:35
Does that come from a suddenly big wage and a feeling of having made it i wonder? Because there’s no way someone can make it from youth football in guinea to a CL winner via France Austria and Germany at a young age without having the right attitude. Shame it never worked out.

16.) 30 May 2023 17:02:51
In fairness lots of sensible people said last summer we didn’t need anymore midfielders as we had 10 (and Naby was one of them)

17.) 30 May 2023 19:23:24
"And let's not forget the brief period a few people tried to make out he'd leapfrogged Henderson in the pecking order last season. Yeah. How'd that work out then lads? "

@SR, that's the one that took the biscuit for me. These people were so desperate to get Hendo out of the club that they would come up with the weirdest excuses to the point of bigging up Naby with wretched arguments like "he has a high win pct. whenever he plays" (absolute rubbish and the worst stat ever) or "he made this many forward passes that any other. " blah, blah, blah. The fact that they had the audacity to use Naby in the same sentence is Hendo what I found gauling and an abomination.

Seriously if these people opened a restaurant, they would would specialize in selling homemade waffles.

18.) 31 May 2023 08:02:23
Can we not concentrate on Keita's positive contributions? I mean contribution.
What was it again?

02 Oct 2022 08:05:26
Hi Gents, I’m over from Oz at the moment and lucky enough to be going to the Rangers game Tuesday.

I know it’s been mentioned on here but best pub near the ground for a quick beer or two.?

Cheers.

09

{Ed025's Note - I don’t know much about the Scottish pub scene 09 but I’m sure some of the guys on here will share some good advice mate..

1.) 02 Oct 2022 10:36:41
We're at home on Tuesday.

{Ed025's Note - oh right my bad rigsby. Then I would suggest the Sandon near the ground mate..

2.) 02 Oct 2022 10:51:36
For anyone going to the game at Ibrox, DO NOT go to the Louden Tavern! I'm 6'3, 20 stone, and lived and worked right next to Ibrox and even I wouldn't venture in there!

3.) 02 Oct 2022 11:03:40
Ed25 trying to send the fans hundreds of miles for a pint ??.

{Ed025's Note - I just fancied a bit of buckfast IR..?

4.) 02 Oct 2022 12:53:59
Ahhhh, there you are Ed025. ?. That big smile is from Firmino, our non-scoring forward. He messed up once again yesterday, LOL. How are you? Trust all is still in place and hanging loosely? ??.

{Ed025's Note - I’m good thanks ArAy. I’m happy to see this resurgence in form from Bobby mate…but I would also like to ask him where he has been for the last 3years .. ?

5.) 02 Oct 2022 13:24:27
He was helping richarlison to keep u people in the league mate. he had given his shooting boots to him haha.

{Ed025's Note - love it liverbird..

6.) 02 Oct 2022 20:48:50
Ed25, Bobbie has scored 100 plus goals in an LFC shirt man. Picking on him after all he has achieved is getting boring now. Time for some new material, mate. This one’s WAY past it’s expiration date, imo.

Also I find it hilarious that you keep calling a CF who has scored 100 plus goals in about 330 games a non scoring forward whereas your team actually possesses TWO strikers who actually do NOT score goals at all in Maupay and Rondon in it’s ranks. Nice deflection, tho.

{Ed025's Note - you were the one who called him a “ non scoring centre forward “ oli. I just agreed with you mate. Bobby was a good player once But has had a 3 year sabbatical. Nice guy but well past his sell by date imo..

7.) 03 Oct 2022 09:16:24
Oh yes, sorry, at Anfield Tuesday…

Cheers.

26 Oct 2021 12:37:52
Hi Eds and fellow reds - I’m absolutely loving our start to the season, playing some really good football and scoring goals for fun.

I know it’s early days but do you think this team has the potential to be better than 19-20? It seems like they still have a couple of gears to go….

Cheers.

09

1.) 26 Oct 2021 12:51:45
I think there is a very strong chance of us winning a major trophy this year. I seldom make predictions but I wouldn't put it past us to do a major double.

2.) 26 Oct 2021 13:01:50
I think that confidence is high, we’re playing good football, we’re scoring goals, we’re defending reasonably well. Anything is possible at this point. Number 20 is achievable.

3.) 26 Oct 2021 13:21:45
We’re playing brilliant, it’s very early days. IMO If we finish above Man City we’ll win the league. But Chelsea have some very favourable fixtures now. It could be a very tight race. Number 7 is very possible with our team, manager and Stadium.

4.) 26 Oct 2021 13:36:13
Absolutely fantastic start to the season and we are actually still unbeaten in all 3 competitions that we are currently in. Just goes to show what hindsight does to you because it wasn't long ago (and i'll happily stick my hand up as well) that we fluttering our eyes at the likes of Sancho and Saul etc and we were trying to pack Mane and Naby off.

5.) 26 Oct 2021 13:43:06
This will surprise many, but in terms of teams, I actually think our current team is better than the title winning team of 19/ 20. We have far less weaknesses. Our bench is stronger. Whether we win the League or the UCL is another story, because I believe there are so many other factors that come into it, aside from having a solid strong team.

6.) 26 Oct 2021 14:17:02
We will win the league this season.

CL? Who knows, there's no team in Europe able to match us at the moment so on paper we'll win it but that's not how these things go, it goes on the day. I'm more confident about the league than the CL personally.

7.) 26 Oct 2021 14:34:45
5-1 was a top prediction, I thought it would be a close game. Ha.

8.) 26 Oct 2021 15:14:05
I'm thinking we will win the c. l. we look great at the moment and are scoring for fun.

9.) 26 Oct 2021 16:14:35
I think we are where need to be at the moment and our performances overall have been very good if not outstanding in certain moments. Also, this is not getting mentioned BUT we are doing all of this while being in the midst of an injury crisis with 5 of our 8 mids currently out injured. Either way, we are doing great atm and with 19 PL games unbeaten (from last season) and 23 unbeaten in all comps., we are sound. On to the next game.

10.) 26 Oct 2021 17:20:51
I think we may have hit on the ideal scenario to not get punished so much when Trent is caught upfield and teams sling long diagonals into the space. Konate looks the perfect player with his pace, strength and size to cover that gap when needed.

11.) 26 Oct 2021 21:25:53
Agree with @ArAy in saying that the current squad is stronger all round than a couple of years ago. Chelsea are too though. City are interesting - they are still very hard to beat although for some reason I don’t quite understand they don’t seem quite as invincible as they were say in 2018 / 19.

The more I see of us the harder I think it is to decide who out midfield 3 should be if everyone is fully fit. In turns Elliot, Thiago, Hendo, Fabs, Naby, Curtis and Millie have played very well. 7 of them for 3 spots - nice problem for JK to have I suppose.

12.) 26 Oct 2021 23:10:19
Unfortunately mate very rarely if at all will they all be fit.

13.) 27 Oct 2021 03:26:55
Agree Mark and with rotation, loss of form and the type of team we are playing against to be factored in, it might be that we actually don’t really have a first choice 3 anyway.

14.) 27 Oct 2021 10:06:06
Mark, that is why we rotate to keep players fresh and less prone to injury. It's that simple.

Hi Ed001, I haven’t missed the match review from the Palace game have I?
I did tell you last week I could be losing the plot.!
Cheers.

09

{Ed001's Note - actually no, I didn't actually do it yet, I was going to do it as a double one with tonight's match as there wasn't really a lot I could see to write about in the Palace game.}

1.) 27 Nov 2019 10:35:21
Fair enough mate, I always look forward to them as they’re a great read - I’m confident we’ll get the win tomorrow but it’ll be a tough one .

Cheers ED.

{Ed001's Note - cheers mate. I will make sure to do one for that game and tonight's for you.}

2.) 27 Nov 2019 11:11:49
Thanks mate!

{Ed001's Note - glad to be of service mate.}

3.) 27 Nov 2019 12:58:52
So when strikers stop scoring it’s because they’ve stopped errr scoring? 🤔.

{Ed001's Note - are you ok mikey?}

4.) 27 Nov 2019 13:45:24
Maybe Asprilla needs to send some friends to help ManUtd get an europa league spot.

5.) 27 Nov 2019 14:37:12
Cheers mate. That Asprilla story is hilarious. Always loved Crespo. Not so much in 2005 cl final though. Might have muttered a few naughties at him that night. We made it up at the end though.

{Ed001's Note - Asprilla is a real character. Him and Valderrama together must be great fun.}

6.) 28 Nov 2019 01:45:17
And a review for me please Ed001.

{Ed001's Note - oh sorry now I know you want them Bazza I will make sure to forget to bother.... ;-)

7.) 28 Nov 2019 08:59:12
Ed01, did you hear that Valderama (a true genius on the pitch) got his hair stretched out into flowing blond hair?

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea what that even means mate. Stretched out?}

8.) 28 Nov 2019 10:40:28
What if they threw God and Bellamy in there for a night out?

15 Nov 2019 19:36:36
ED001, apologies as I may behind the 8 ball here, but has there been a match review of the Man City game?
Cheers.

09

{Ed001's Note - yes mate Man City match review. Took me a while to find it as it was done so long ago... ;-)

1.) 15 Nov 2019 20:22:57
Ha ha cheers!

{Ed001's Note - no worries mate, hope you enjoy.}

2.) 16 Nov 2019 09:09:57
Great read as usual!
Just wanted to get your thoughts on the handball ruling, there seems to be so much conflicting interpretations of them at the moment. While TAA’s was never a pen, do you think we’ll get to the stage where any contact with the hand / arm will be a foul to make it a blanket rule?
Cheers Ed.

{Ed001's Note - it already is in Spain. That is why you see players put their hands behind their back as they have been coached to avoid that. I expect it will spread to the rest of the leagues in time to make it easier for everyone to understand.}

3.) 16 Nov 2019 14:00:24
So good I read it again!
Cheers Ed.
✌️.

{Ed001's Note - wow, thank you Bram.}

4.) 17 Nov 2019 14:03:08
Spot on, Ed01 re: the handball rule. In Italy, they do that as well and at one time in France, it was the same thing. Not sure if it is now. The handball rule in the PL is open to interpretation (something in some quarters, I support) and that is why the TAA incident was NEVER a penalty.

What the pundits and City synchophants were trying to do was to use the handball standards in Spain, Italy and in the CL to judge a handball situation knowing full well IMO, that these rules NEVER applied. They wanted TAA's handball to be penalized even tho it was unintentional in my opinion (as his arm was away from his body cos he had been running and slowed down which is done with your arms away from your side), YET let Sivlva's unintentional handball go. Dishonest mugs, the lot of them.

{Ed001's Note - pundits just want controversy. Pep just wanted something else to blame, rather than admit he is at fault.}

Thanks Ed, buzzing for the game on the weekend.
Must be frustrating for Shaq - is this an new injury do you know or one that’s been lingering?

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - it occurred in February so not that new.}

Hi ED002, thanks for your responses and apologies if this has been asked
Hypothetically speaking, if we had already won the league at this point and the season is expunged from records, that would obviously include the title being wiped also?

Cheers.

09

{Ed002's Note - It has not been discussed but you are right it would need to be - as is the case with the League Cup.}
