Hi eds,
Just a bit of a rumour been doing the rounds and wanted to see if you can shed any light on it. Hearing dortmund will drop the price for sancho during the summer due to money issues. I keep hearing that utd are nailed on for him. Is there and would there be any interest from us. I doubt we got the money but kust wondering.

19OIW

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United remain interested but he is being offered elsewhere, Liverpool have someone else in mind as a Salah replacement if that is what they want to do - else, perhaps Firmino goes and Salah moves to the centre and magically the club find the money - which is way more than the asking price of Dortmund. So interest perhaps, but the cost is huge and at least one of the front three would need to go.}

1.) 25 Jan 2021 21:04:37
Who do we have in mind.

{Ed002's Note - Traore - we have been through all of this.}

2.) 25 Jan 2021 21:14:24
I can personally see Sancho ending up at Chelsea. Ed2, I value your knowledge on all football matters. If Salah were to depart, who would be a sensible replacement in your opinion.

{Ed002's Note - They have been offered him but there is zero chance that they will pay the full price of the transaction.}

3.) 25 Jan 2021 21:59:22
Don’t see what the club sees in Traore! The boy can run but so could daly Thompson!
Massive swerve for me as for 50/ 60m get the boat!

4.) 25 Jan 2021 22:33:26
I trust Klopp and the scouting team but do they honestly feel Traore will give us the same goal return that Salah offers, or even half that. Just miffed that out of every player out there this is the one they are pushing.

5.) 26 Jan 2021 04:34:05
Have we not been looking at the likes of Moussa Diaby, Chukwueze, one of the young Real Madrid wide players etc? Why Traore? He is just another pace merchant.
And if Klopp is looking to change his tactics and formation starting next season, I would expect a proper CF and pacy wide player to be looked at.
There are no like for like replacements for our front 3 anywhere and if we intend to sell one of them and break up the trio permanently, the other two need to adapt accordingly and the replacement should be someone who is a slightly different mould of player.
Coz I really think we need to start freshening up not just the personnel but the tactics and approach as well. Man City have come back strongly this season with Pep shaking things up a bit. Maybe Klopp needs to do the same the coming summer.

{Ed001's Note - we have changed the tactics constantly since Klopp arrived. We play nothing like we did last season.}

6.) 26 Jan 2021 09:53:24
That is one of the greatest things about JK and his management team-the constant efforts to evolve our style of play.
My fears over Traore are around his footballing brain and end product. Can that be coached in every player? No, so ultimately it is a gamble.
I thought Sarr was one of the desired, cheaper replacements, or was he first choice ahead of Jota?

7.) 26 Jan 2021 11:07:30
Klopp constantly picks up rough diamonds and turns them into superstars, if he thinks he can turn Traore into a top player then go for it.
Klopp must see something that nobody else can though because I can only see an origi that’s been on the protein shakes.
But I’ve now learned to never question Klopps signings, I can only think of one signing I was completely comfortable with (Alisson), I’ve had slight doubts over pretty much everyone else, even the likes of VVD I was slightly nervous about and I’ve been proved wrong almost every time.

8.) 26 Jan 2021 11:18:09
Hi Ed001, if you don’t mind so much mate, could you bullet point the changes you see in terms of how we play and its progression? To my untrained eyes I can only see the counter attacking style of 17/ 18 and the development into our possession based game now.

{Ed001's Note - well this season we have had to adapt as we go, with the full-backs not playing so advanced and taking it more in turns to go than both going at once. The forwards are playing wider to make up for it, meaning that there are less bodies in the box, except when a midfielder gets in there. We are also having to push the centre-backs onto the centre forwards to challenge any aerial balls, as there is no front screen from the midfield. Then there is the press, which is much less used than before, probably to protest players from exhaustion.}

9.) 26 Jan 2021 11:44:07
Traore is a big swerve for me, his return for his build and pace is shocking, hope its a smoke screen for Podence.

10.) 26 Jan 2021 13:06:45
Cracking summary there ed001.

That’s what I have been trying to get across, the whole team is disrupted at the minute. Summed it up beautifully.

🤙.

{Ed001's Note - sometimes adaptation can help, like it has at City, but for us it has been a disaster because we don't have the right players available to make it work. All it has done is take away from our strength and intensify our weaknesses. If the front 3 were on fire, then it would work fine, but they have lost their way so it is a struggle at the moment.}

11.) 26 Jan 2021 17:47:28
But can JK do the old-Silk purse, pigs ear trick on AT?

12.) 26 Jan 2021 18:43:14
Dont we already have a replacement in the front 3 with Jota.
From what we have seen, he has done well. Liverpool can't really afford a £42mil squad our squad players.

02 Sep 2020 15:20:42
Hi eds, As stated funds are required to purchase players. Seems like it is taking an age for any bids to come in for the players we have up for sale. An updates. the two main being harry Wilson and grucic. Thanks.

19OIW

{Ed002's Note - Leeds were keen on Wilson but the asking price is seen as too high. Liverpool could look to getting a WP for Grujic as they have failed to be open to discussing his departure with any interested sides.}

1.) 02 Sep 2020 15:47:36
Ed, if we have only enough money after sales to buy a CB or Thiago which is Klopp more fixed on getting.

{Ed002's Note - Clearly Thiago is his priority.}

2.) 02 Sep 2020 16:11:50
Thanks ed.

3.) 02 Sep 2020 16:40:03
It really sucks to be poor. 😩.

4.) 02 Sep 2020 17:23:13
Do you think Klopp will look to use the young centre backs Ed as Lovrens replacement then?

{Ed001's Note - that is why we brought them in.}

5.) 02 Sep 2020 17:46:32
Ed1 Klopp seems to be giving Billy K a good chance during pre season do you see him involved in the squad, looks like he's got a big future, no pun intended.

Hope you and the family are well!

{Ed001's Note - it depends on if he continues to impress. If he does I would expect him to get cup matches at least.}

6.) 02 Sep 2020 17:55:27
Have we changed our stance and are now looking to keep Grujic?

{Ed001's Note - not sure it is a change of stance, we loaned him out last season to get game time not to get rid of him.}

7.) 02 Sep 2020 19:21:47
Ed1
Would you not be a bit worried going into next season with just VVD, Gomez and Matip as senior CBs given that Matip struggles to keep fit and firing for a significant stretch and next season being even more congested.

{Ed001's Note - no, not in the slightest.}

8.) 02 Sep 2020 19:36:32
There is no way Klopp will risk the young CB's for 4th choice and obviously we will buy someone. Hogan said money is there if need be only we have to be sustainable.
Its a big game, being dragged/ played out to get prices down or up.
I could still even see Carlos joining. Thiago is a replacement, but CB was the priority, and will continue to be.

9.) 02 Sep 2020 19:47:24
Fabinho can play there as well as the 2young CB‘S we have.

10.) 02 Sep 2020 18:29:40
He would obviously need his WP sorting Ed won’t he If he is an option in the squad this season mate, and if he is an option would this likely impact Thiago or not related?

{Ed002's Note - I would use Grujic rather than move for Thiago. He is a lot better than the Liverpool fans seeem to recognise, but there is a chance Klopp cannot see how to use him with the pressing game that is played - but I would argue the same with Thiago. But as he is a potential leaver Grujic is being trashed like Wijnaldum is now on the site.}

11.) 02 Sep 2020 20:42:37
There are good reports regarding Grujic Ed002, I’ve not seen much of him to be honest.

Regarding Thiago, there are those that say he would be a brilliant addition, others not - again, not seen much of him other than the CL final and when Bayern came to Anfield to which he was solid in midfield .

Who knows.

{Ed002's Note - Thiago has been a great player but would he disrupt the midfield moving to Liverpool, are injuries an issue, can he press etc..}

12.) 02 Sep 2020 20:47:03
The irony of all this is that Wijnaldum will probably go to Barca, eventually Grujic will leave, and by the time that enough pennies have been cobbled together to buy Thiago, he’ll have agreed a move elsewhere.

13.) 02 Sep 2020 21:06:02
64 million dollar questions Ed002.

I know Gini still has a tendency go missing at times but he’s a great option for us, I’d rather keep him personally.

{Ed002's Note - I am sure the consideration of disruption has been discussed.}

14.) 02 Sep 2020 21:06:02
64 million dollar questions Ed002.

I know Gini still has a tendency go missing at times but he’s a great option for us, I’d rather keep him personally.

15.) 02 Sep 2020 22:53:27
I agree with Ed002 100%, not that he needs my validation.

16.) 02 Sep 2020 23:22:48
Ed002 - Making room for both Thiago and Grujic might be the solution after all. Which could mean selling Gini and allowing Milner to move to his childhood club. (assuming there is interest from Leeds) . Pure speculation on my part of course. But it would make sense in my opinion.

{Ed002's Note - I am not sure that there is any plan for Milner to leave.}

17.) 03 Sep 2020 07:51:24
In order to evolve our tactics, we need some different cogs in the machine and Thiago is one of those. His passing is masterly and he is amazing in tight spaces. Our results since Watford have been down to our tactics being countered +predictability, and i honestly believe that Thiago will help no end in that respect. How would Grujic change anything? Its not about weather he's good enough as he clearly is.
Thiago tackles, passes and creates, and would offer a lot more creatively than Gini.

18.) 03 Sep 2020 11:55:10
Gini has been world class for LFC, and I for one would be very sad to see him leave LFC. I hope we also get Thiago, but financially may not be feasible. but if Gini stays I would be more than happy as he is an integral part of Klopps tactics and he knows the system to play. He is a tremendous footballer and I hope he stays.

19.) 03 Sep 2020 21:02:00
I personally don’t see the point in signing Thiago at 29 I’d rather keep gini and Give grujic A chance.

Hi eds,

Hopefully you can some shed light on this as I am so very confused.

We are well aware that we have a lack of funds and that anything towards purchasing players would need to come from money made from sales.

Leaving the Thiago rumor alone for a moment. You mentioned Klopp is interested in starting CB i. e Carlos who would cost 50 60 million. Then there is the link with the young Mandi for quoted fee of 10 million. I believe Mandi would be a replacement 4th choice CB and that Carlos would be 1st choice starting CB. How is it we are linked with both.

Also the funds to strike a deal for Carlos where do you suggest this will come from considering our expected sales will not get us probably half the amount of the quoted Diego Carlos fee.

A post and reply would be much appreciated.

Thank you!

2.) 31 Jul 2020 17:03:10
exactly ed, how many players were being considered before salah was signed for example.

3.) 02 Aug 2020 01:22:20
wasn’t Salah like the 3rd or 4th choice at the time?

Eds, help us get FSG out. Any ideas. No onea got a couple billion to buy us. End of the day fair enough its a business money needs to. be. made but this greed has ruined them.

19OIW

1.) 20 Apr 2021 21:45:35
I might have 19OIW, leave it with me.

I am also available to do some kick ups in the centre circle at the next home game (That’s one for the older fans there)

2.) 20 Apr 2021 22:09:37
I keep getting told I have a long lost grandad in Nigeria, I have an inheritance waiting for me of 1.8million. I just have to stay on the line, provide my bank details and its mine. Maybe I'll put it all on red 12 and buy the club with the winnings?

3.) 20 Apr 2021 22:30:09
Maybe Aliko Dangote can help? 😂😂.

4.) 20 Apr 2021 22:34:21
Have you not seen Passenger 52 Baz? Always bet on black.

20 Apr 2021 05:27:49
Hi ed 002,
Do you think this is the end for Fsg. Even if the ESL don't go through this time the painted picture is dry. Personally I don't think they would sell and who would by us at whatever they value the club at. Hope they go our name is being tarnished. Thank you.

19OIW

{Ed002's Note - Potentially, they have little respect within the game. Selling as you say would be difficult.}

1.) 20 Apr 2021 10:24:31
I want FSG gone. Every word uttered and promise made by them have been lies, lies and lies. Their position is untenable.
Hopefully there is a rich person out there who loves and wants to own LFC, recognizes and respects the club's heritage and traditions, and not a Yank.
Cannot even enjoy football anymore coz of this nonsense. FSG are just trying to line their own pockets and ignoring everything the club stands for. Not one Liverpool fan in this world would want them around anymore.

2.) 20 Apr 2021 10:25:56
Ouch, Ed02.

3.) 20 Apr 2021 10:38:02
They will go out but they will take out every penny from this club.

4.) 20 Apr 2021 11:00:35
I wouldn't even be this angry if they lined up their pockets and left. The fact they are trying to encroach on everything the club's history is built on is unforgivable and leaves a very bad taste.
FSG's intentions were no better than H&G, they are just smarter businessmen that pulled the wool over our eyes.
And why does Klopp and the players have to face the abuse and media questions? Where is John Henry and his cowboy gang hiding? Completely shameless and gutless people.

5.) 20 Apr 2021 12:23:08
Indian Buzzer, they are cowards. Because of their silence there is no other conclusion that they hate our game and our tradition. They are crapping all over our history. They are despicable cretins in my opinion.

6.) 20 Apr 2021 13:07:56
History and tradition disappeared in 1992 when the PL started. Since then it’s rapidly become a global cash cow that will stamp on all in its path.
Liverpool FC are only Liverpool by name. They don’t represent the people of Liverpool anymore they are a global brand. This is just the next phase of that.
Like it or not we have all contributed to this happening by demanding more and more money is spent on players, the stadium etc. If you want to keep up with the elite clubs you have to do what the elite clubs do.
We all have a choice of what we do now.

7.) 20 Apr 2021 13:39:03
What a load of old tosh. FSG don't hate the game or our tradition. Cretins? They're smart enough to be owning the club we support.
They're trying to take advantage of an opportunity to make money, and they're wrong to do so in this manner, and I don't remember anyone calling them cowards when they bought us.
And as for folks saying "FSG out", do they really think FSG will just walk away from a billion pound club because fans on a forum are upset? Dream on.
There's no magic mega rich supporter out there who's going to fork out a billion quid and come riding to the rescue.
It's going to be down to the fans (and manager plus playing staff) to put pressure on FSG to withdraw. Because like it or lump it, FSG will be owners for the forseeable future.

8.) 20 Apr 2021 13:50:53
Just remember, these companies do not buy sports teams as a favour - they buy them to make money. Everyone who wants FSG to sell and go - what do you think woyuld happen? They'll sell it to another company who will buy it on the assumption they can make money from it.

19 Apr 2021 00:29:42
Hi eds, I guess more questions rather than answerea with the proposed ESL. Would it not ever be possible for fans that object to and hold protest so the owners sell the club.

Secondly, if we are banned from the prem along with the other teams how are the worlds best players supposed to play against each other assumimg they would be banned from signing players from the league they were in and and as rivals in the same new league won't sell each other players.

Thank you.

19OIW

{Ed002's Note - Well unless there is another infraction nobody is going }to look to sanctions like that.

1.) 19 Apr 2021 00:55:36
Of course there is. The answer is that we simply do not attend the games. I felt as though a walk out protest over VAR was coming but this has completely changed everything. The fans need to stand together and stand for the values of the city, the club and the sport as whole. We wax lyrical about You’ll Never Walk Alone and our heritage, now its time to put our money where our mouth is.

I’m willing to stick my neck out and say that if this goes ahead I will simply go and support my local team, Marine. The ideals that i thought Liverpool Football Club stood for will be dead. Many in the city will do the same. But if we bend over backwards for them and let them off with punishment then the sport will be destroyed and following them will by pointless.

2.) 19 Apr 2021 02:10:22
I agree with you, wooly, but for me the damage is already done. Even if the club doesn't wind up joining the Super league, it'll only be because of the fan outrage, so it's still a commercial decision. They've shown their true colours. At the end of the day, I support football and the community. It's over.

{Ed0666's Note - I agree I’m not sure FSG survive this particular fan lead backlash. I personally feel this is the beginning of the end for them.

3.) 19 Apr 2021 04:10:52
Then don't give up! This is the time to support each other and the real ideals of football, stand tall this club has survived far worse than John Henry .

4.) 19 Apr 2021 07:01:07
Why is this considered worse for fans? Travelling to one of these major European cities for an away game as opposed to traveling to some Ukrainian warzone for a champions league fixture. UEFA and fifa have shown themselves to be horrible, corrupt organisations over the years. Why are people surprised that clubs want to move Away from them.

{Ed001's Note - because they are not interested in fixing corruption, only in lining their pockets. No sport has ever prospered and improved when the competitors involved make the rules. You only have to look at the way F1 was destroyed by the teams themselves choosing the rules they raced under and how it has been transformed by having a new owner who is setting the rules. Competitors are all about self-interest, just as this idea is. As for travelling to 'some Ukrainian warzone', an extremely narrowminded (at best) comment, no team is allowed to play in a warzone, they would move the game. So you are talking nonsense.}

04 Feb 2021 12:44:07
Ed001- Your thought on the tittle I know we should focus on form and game to game but you think we can salvage this. This season is like no other and I still think city may have a spell of 2 3 games without winning.

Regards,

19OIW

{Ed001's Note - just worry about the next game and see where we end up when the season is over. It should never be about titles or trophies. It should always be about winning the next game.}

1.) 04 Feb 2021 13:58:44
ED001 - do you know why Mane had been kept out of the squad for the last few games? Is long C.V. still lingering about with him and affecting his fitness?

Regards

KR65.

{Ed001's Note - I thought he had picked up a knock that they initially thought was minor. Now I am not sure if I am getting mixed up as I can't find anything with regard to it. I am not sure if I dreamt being told he had a knock or if he did now! So I will have to say I don't know.}

2.) 04 Feb 2021 15:19:10
Yeah that’s why I ask, I can’t seem to find anything written about it at all, seems a bit of a mystery.

3.) 04 Feb 2021 15:27:31
Spot on, Ed. Even when we backstroked the title last season, it was always about the next game and that is the way it should be.

{Ed001's Note - it was always like that under Paisley. Nothing mattered but the next game.}

23 Jan 2021 13:23:48
Hi eds,

With the papers now picking up what you have been saying about transfer funds how do you think the summer will go. Will it still be sell to buy and payment plan. I assume the big players halaand sancho carlos even ben white who we are linked with would be a no due to money. Regards 190IW.

19OIW

{Ed002's Note - The club cannot keep accumulating debt and need to look to balancing the books and probably a different financial model. It will become much clearer in about three weeks. The way forward is to sell to buy. Klopp will want a legacy of building a second squad that is capable of being able to challenge and to do that the club need to not just buy the ready made solution but they need to identify the younger players who will do well in the future and they have to address the squad management issues that are already causing difficulties with Home Grown and Club Developed players - and that will worsen in the future if not addressed now.}

1.) 23 Jan 2021 13:57:57
Sorry ed but what's in 3 weeks?

{Ed002's Note - Some clarity of the finances.}

2.) 23 Jan 2021 14:01:54
Was there a list of possible targets ed if so what will I search. thanks.

{Ed002's Note - You should be able to find it.}

3.) 23 Jan 2021 14:11:20
Is that when the annual accounts/ review will be released ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

4.) 23 Jan 2021 17:39:57
I don't think the accounts are going to make for great viewing.

{Ed025's Note - i think they will be worse than that of an antartican ice cream man irish .. :)

OMG. It don't matter what he done the question is was it a foul and it was. You need to learn how to relax bud. He nudged the ball and tried taking the defender on got his body in the way and was fouled. He had his hands on face and gave a cheeky look to the camera like Luiz did them years ago.

We did sell Solanke for £20 Mill. The market has gone down with C.V.. No sure on prices but even if the above are all sold it will be tough to raise enough funds to buy the likes of carlos or a first team player. I would be happy if we can recoup around 30 Mill.
