So. The Atlantic reporting that FIFA are going to extend the deadline for Leagues to complete the 19/ 20 season indefinitely. The priority seems to be that leagues should finish the season in progress before starting new seasons.

Thank god sanity may possibly prevail.

Hi Eds, sorry if this is old news, but I was wondering if any club came in for Flanagan? I know you were all pretty sure his time was done, but is there any firm interest?

Adz28

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

1.) 05 Jul 2017 23:25:03
Thanks for the response.

{Ed002's Note - A decision will need to be made whilst the transfer window is open.}

2.) 06 Jul 2017 12:03:18
We should try him out in place of Clyne during pre-season to see if he can replace him. If not, then he should be sold. Be nice to see an academy product in the team.

3.) 06 Jul 2017 12:14:53
johnny i think we will have TAA as the rotationplayer for clyne/ milner.

Flanagan looked promising a few years back but injurys set him back a few times and i don't think he will be even second choice anymore.

On todays market we could get around 5-7 mio for him and if we get an offer we should take it.

4.) 06 Jul 2017 13:40:52
Flano is not a crosser of the ball and this is what Klopp needs in the modern wingback. I'm afraid his time is up. Unless he wants to keep him as backup which is doubtful, since we already have a much more capable and promising youngster in place.

16 Mar 2017 14:15:51
Some online sources and italian sources (tuttomercatoweb) recirculating rumours that Klopp has "identified" Mahrez as his #1 target for the summer. Is there any credibility to this? Last year the man looked amazing, this year he has looked lost at times and is, apparently, one of the names behind the ousting of Ranieri. Even if it is true, is he even someone we want at the club?

Adz28

{Ed002's Note - Juventus has a declared interest in Riyad Mahrez but I am not aware of Liverpool showing any interest - and again it makes no sense unless Mane is leaving. Efforts I am aware of relate to left wingers where the club is seen as short.}

1.) 16 Mar 2017 17:41:49
Thanks for the response Ed.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 17 Mar 2017 06:29:39
Is Ojo seen as an option across other positions rather than on the left or is he not considered good enough? Sorry just the age of some of the names floating around isn't much more than him so seems odd.

{Ed002's Note - I don't know if Klopp doesn't think he is ready but he has chosen not to use him. He can also play on the right.}

3.) 17 Mar 2017 21:11:12
Mahrez might be worth a shout but only as long as his head is in the right place. Set pieces would benefit so much and he'd link up well with Bobby and Adam.

Think Couts main position will be in midfield should Mahrez come, and Mané move to the left.

A lot has been floating around the internet about the FA's stance. Lot's of fake posts by people claiming that there are specific rules in place that would declare the season either Null and Void. or alternatively that if a specified number of games (75% conveniently being flouted around which would make 29 games) then the season can be called complete.

I just spent the last 3 hours reading through the FA Handbook for 19-20.and the only part that I can find that has any relevance to the discussion is in Chapter 10 Section B Rule 9 which states:

SUSPENSION OF THE GAME AND EXTENSION OF SEASON
9 The Association shall have power to suspend the game either sectionally or entirely. The Association may also extend the periods for playing, as from time to time, in its discretion, shall be deemed necessary or desirable, and agreements between Clubs, Players, and Club Officials, Officials and Match Officials shall be subject to such decisions.

So the power is there to extend, but that is all they have to say about it. There is nothing that I can find that says anything else.

Adz28

1.) 14 Mar 2020 19:33:01
So basically what ed said that there is no such rule for this situation and the authorities will consider all options.

It's a good post to put it up there in black and white. In legal terms it just gives them the mandate to extend but it's not an obligation.

{Ed002's Note - Can you explain the "legal terms" please.}

Alisson out for the weekend and Atletico. Hope Adrian is mentally in the right place after the weekend.

Adz28

1.) 06 Mar 2020 17:16:14
I'm sure Adrian will be absolutely fine, he's had a good season an he made a error it happens.

The reality is Adrian should never have had to face that shot because we shouldn't have lost it on the edge of our box so cheaply anyway.

2.) 06 Mar 2020 18:17:09
Athletico will be his third game on the bounce, he should have his eye in by then. I wouldn't expect another error like on Tuesday from him. He did okay at the start of the season.

I'd only worry about it from the point of view of going from having the best goalie in the world to a goalie that's actually a human.

3.) 06 Mar 2020 20:02:17
Not worried to be honest, he did well for us at the start of the season, and I bet he is quite happy he gets to make amends so quickly after his error. When something like that happens you want it out of your mind ASAP.

4.) 06 Mar 2020 20:05:11
For me I think Adrian has had a really good season. When he filled in at the start of the season he did very well. The worry I have though is when he filled in at the start of the season Our defence were more solid, our midfield were dominating games and our forwards were free scoring. Last few games those 3 areas haven’t been that and Allison was a saving beacon in quite a few of them. If the players click again tomorrow then Adrian will have nothing to worry about.

5.) 06 Mar 2020 20:10:29
Spot on TUR. He’ll be fine
It wasn’t Adrian’s fault, it was some really poor play on the edge of our own area that was the problem (shouldn’t have needed to be a save to make)

6.) 06 Mar 2020 20:48:50
Personally i think Adrian "the Brother" has had a better season than his "Sister" Alisson.

7.) 06 Mar 2020 22:31:13
Wish I was as confident 🤭 we was out scoring teams but still conceding when Becker was injured at beginning of season. More worried to play atletico .

8.) 06 Mar 2020 23:55:31
Davon Reds, what you should mean to say is that it wasn’t entirely Adrian’s fault. Clearly the midfield were awful in the build-up, but Adrian’s error was Mignolet-level shocking. I could have saved that.
We just need to hope it refocuses him.

9.) 07 Mar 2020 09:41:20
I'm not even sure that was an error, to be fair cos when you see the play from the back of the goal, VVD was clearly in his sights. Hence in the moment, he had to try to anticipate where the shot could go, not would go. And as you will see, he missed the shot by about two feet. Pretty sure that had he seen a bit more of the shot, he would have had a better chance at saving it. Just my opinion.

As for Adrian and his season, make no mistake about it he is a big reason why we will win the PL this season. To me, he is the best no. 2 GK in the PL cos he had to step in for the best GK in the immense AB1 and we were still winning games and did not cost us any games. Whereas at the Emptyhad, all their manager and many of their fans complain about is how Laporte's absence (a CB, mind you) is the reason their season imploded YET they have the best squad depth in the PL and not a one-man team, yeah? Ok, then. Such nonsense.

Adrian will be well-prepared for this game cos he now knows he will start and can get himself right mentally and physically for what will be a very tough game come Wed. Come on, Adrian!

10.) 07 Mar 2020 10:41:59
Every player makes mistakes, it happens and we move on and continue supporting them Adrian has done really well since joining, hats off to the lad, I'm sure he'll be fine.

11.) 07 Mar 2020 12:05:03
JK23 - when Adrian first came in it was during the first game of the season, and he became part of the solidity of the team. We had hardly started being free scoring by then, but I agree that we have been very sterile recently and he will be even more important now because if we concede we could be in trouble as we are not only not scoring right now, but not creating chances either. since Klopp came in March has been the worst month of the season for us. It needs to improve quickly.

{Ed001's Note - we are creating chances. We are not hitting the target with them, but we create plenty.}

12.) 07 Mar 2020 14:41:24
OK Ed001 I'll take that. Thanks for your expertise.

{Ed001's Note - welcome.}

Hi Ed01 (or any other Eds) . Wanted to get your thoughts on the Vardy Adrian exchange. Obviously there is some history between the two, but did you think the foul by Vardy on Adrian warranted a card? Was part of a fairly heated discussion between myself and two others. I felt it was a deliberate foul of the ball and should have been a yellow. My friend thought it was worthy of a red for violent conduct and my other colleague considered it a nothing exchange that Adrian made a meal of. Would love to hear your thoughts

Thanks.

Adz28

{Ed001's Note - he left his foot in, as he always does, and it was a booking. He knows exactly what he is doing and does it every time in the hope a keeper will bottle it next time. Vardy is a nasty piece of work and does go in with intent every time he makes a challenge. I certainly wouldn't call it a red though and am not surprised the ref didn't card him as they don't understand the game from a playing point of view. They just see that as him being late, rather than a deliberate ploy he has used umpteen games and caused numerous injuries through doing so.}

1.) 06 Oct 2019 16:42:07
Thanks Ed. Appreciate your response. This was a discussion between three referees, incidently. We all saw something different. I am always a little biased towards protecting keepers, having been one myself in my playing days, so was interested to hear what others thought.

{Ed001's Note - I can understand the booking and nothing, but I can't see how it could be seen as a red. For me it is the fact that he deliberately goes in to make contact that means it has to be a card. He has plenty of time to avoid Adrian, but Vardy's intent is to make contact. That makes it reckless when running at the pace Vardy is going. He is uncaring of the damage he could possibly do.}

2.) 06 Oct 2019 18:36:23
Not a red on any planet, OP. A yellow maybe? Probably but the Ed already addressed that.

3.) 06 Oct 2019 19:50:43
I agree with you. As I said inky initial post, I would have given a yellow myself. It is always interesting to hear other opinions and shows, perhaps sadly, how subjective some decisions can be.

{Ed001's Note - I don't mind that, it is part of the game and gives us something to discuss.}

4.) 06 Oct 2019 20:34:47
Vardy is just sending a message and trying to get into the goalkeepers head. a bit of gamesmanship, nothing more. Now, if he did it again, then maybe a sending off. I'm not justifying what Vardy did, I agree with Ed, he's a nasty piece of work.

So Yan Dhanda has agreed terms to a Swansea move. I seem to remember him being highly thought of at one point. Is this a case of wanting too much too soon, or genuinely career would have stalled had he stayed?

Adz28

1.) 08 Jun 2018 18:46:27
Given the quality we already had in our squad and the players we've added and look like adding. Any of our youth midfield would need to be very special to get in the match squad never mind first 11.

2.) 08 Jun 2018 22:39:39
Moving to Swansea and their new manager will be great for Dhandas career. Graham Potter got mediocre outcast players from mediocre swedish teams ripping Arsenal to shreds at their place. He'll get Dhanda as far as possible. Good for us to let him leave on good terms, should he turn out to be the real deal.

What is this I am reading about Salah facing a potential ban for swinging at Bruno Martins Indi? I must have missed that incident. Anyone see anything similar?

1.) 01 May 2018 01:12:27
Not being pursued by the authorities. clarified tonight.

2.) 01 May 2018 02:26:24
Fair enough then, thanks for the reply Ed.

3.) 01 May 2018 23:41:26
All media hype Adz. Same as when Mane should’ve had a penalty and a free kick but the media whipped up a frenzy making out he should’ve been sent off rather than pointing the finger at the ref for two ridiculous decisions.

The man has 18 months left on his contract. There is talk of him moving in the summer, but there may well be a contract offer on the table by then. Who knows? But talk of him going is about 18 months premature.

I think the no loans comment was more about Ryan Kent, not Harry Wilson. I think they were more concerned that Wilson needed guaranteed game time rather than no loan.

Adz28

{Ed0333's Note - correct. Klopp said words to the effect that no more loans for Kent better for player and club for him to be sold.

Current trending on social media says that it is Man Utd. One "journalist" went so far as to say that he had already signed. MUFC account says that Mourinho is interested but reports of an agreement are not true.

Hi Ed002, Metro are reporting Liverpool have been in touch with Rennes regarding Camavinga. Are we to take from your response above that this is click-bait garbage?

Adz28

{Ed002's Note - No, I am pretty certain that Liverpool has not approached Rennes.}

I think he was referring to that Dutch fitness expert (I forget his name) that was constantly haranguing Klopps training methods in his first couple of seasons when we had injury issues.

Seriously Harry, one person mentions that it might be a financial thing and you jump on that bandwagon. What more do FSG have to do to show you that they are willing to pay? With the figures being quoted, I would hope that they are really sure of their investment. Of doctors are raising questions over the knee or whatever their concern is, then maybe, just maybe FSG are justified in not pulling the trigger on the deal.

That being said. Ed02 just says that the negotiations are ongoing. So how about we just wait and see before we slag anyone off huh?
