Romano reporting we have bid for chiesa.

Arnes barber

1.) 26 Aug 2024 19:52:11
Can’t see Hughes getting it done tbh. Which wouldn’t be a terrible thing anyway because he’d only be Sub.

2.) 26 Aug 2024 20:01:29
Good player, very injury prone. Would he accept being backup? I wonder if his injuries are because of his style of play. He appears to be a very brave player and takes a lot of hits.

3.) 26 Aug 2024 20:19:56
This has got “smokescreen” written all over it.

He’s not a target.

4.) 26 Aug 2024 20:21:54
I’m a massive chiesa fan. Would love this to be true. Is there anything in it ed2?

{Ed002's Note - Federico Chiesa (LW/F) A third party has informed Juventus of possible interest from Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich and with sanctions this may lead Juventus to consider a sale, although they would prefer a new contract. Spurs, Newcastle, Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal interest seems to have gone although Spurs, Chelsea and Napoli interest could return depending on left-sided departures - although each have preferred options and Spurs have a far more pressing need for a striker. Barcelona offer an option. Aston Villa interest will go nowhere. Al-Ittihad have him behind Salah and Son, but could turn to him. Liverpool would be an option but it seems unlikely as they seem well stocked for versatile forwards, particularly left-sided forwards, but if Diaz departs he will become the likely possible replacement but not first choice although Ramadani has said that he has been dealing with approaches from Barcelona, Spurs and Liverpool. I expect Spurs to push if the lose Richarlison but an out and out striker needs to be recruited first. Seen as a Felix replacement by Atletico. Napoli and Inter offer part exchange options. Chelsea may also do the same. Agent has been speaking with Roma and agreed a move subject to a fee being agreed with Juventus less than the large asking price. Ongoing injury concerns but a one year extention to his contract will allow his agent and Juventus to negotiate next season - and I suspect that will happen, although Juventus will be nervous about him departing as a Free Agent next summer and could simply opt to move him on now. The view of Thiago Motta will be crucial.}

5.) 26 Aug 2024 20:27:46
Hats off to ed002
He called it months if not years ago.

6.) 26 Aug 2024 20:31:52
Why would we sign a right-footed left winger/ forward as a backup for Salah? He plays in the same position we're already overstocked in - we already have Díaz and Gakpo at LW, and Jota and Nuñez can also play there. Someone like Kubo would be backup to Salah, not Chiesa.

7.) 26 Aug 2024 20:33:09
Redslot, how is he injury-prone?

8.) 26 Aug 2024 20:14:30
Can play centrally and in the wide positions. Wouldn’t be a bad option to have rotating with our other forwards. It’s a long season after all.

At one point he was the next big thing, interesting to see if this one develops.

Salah came off around 80” on the weekend whereas in previous seasons he was 90 minutes almost every game. I think we might see Slot look after him more this season .

9.) 26 Aug 2024 20:42:43
LFC8, behave yourself. Even my daughter didn't cry when her brother ripped the arms off her Stitch toy.

10.) 26 Aug 2024 20:49:28
Wasn’t his big injury 3 seasons ago.

His appearances the last two seasons have been pretty good. I think it’s 33 and 37 league appearances.

11.) 26 Aug 2024 20:56:31
I think Romano checks this website.

12.) 26 Aug 2024 20:58:30
A wealth of knowledge as always ed2. It is very much appreciated. Think I will keep an eye on it though with an ever so skeptical view.

13.) 26 Aug 2024 20:59:26
OP- no, he didn't say that.

"Liverpool make initial approach for Federico Chiesa as possible option for final days. "

So many ifs, buts and maybes in that statement. May happen but that is not a statement of certainty.

14.) 26 Aug 2024 23:30:08
Wow that’s a cool story Tristan. ?.

22 Aug 2024 13:45:24
Hearing off a really good source that Gomez will join Newcastle and we will sign Gordon and keep Diaz as Gordon is seen as a back up to salah who apparently doesn't want to negotiate a new contract but vvd and taa do. Once Gomez deal goes through expect us to push for Antonio silva from benfica as fsg want another van dijk type defender. They are willing to pay big for a player who will be a rock at the back. Konate and quansah will be back ups pushing van dijk for his spot as he ages. No midfield's will be signed and will be assessed again in January, bajcetic and endo will stay for now.

Arnes barber

1.) 22 Aug 2024 15:03:47
This time next week we will have the same squad.

2.) 22 Aug 2024 15:24:26
Antonio Silva looked horrible in Champions league and way too overpriced.

3.) 22 Aug 2024 16:51:03
No we won't Carlo, players are being ushered out the exit. At least another 2 (SVB and Blair) will leave and rumours of at least another 4 leaving either transfer or loan (Gomez, Morton, Baj, Endo) . So the squad will be different in a week haha.

4.) 22 Aug 2024 17:38:52
Few but HQ additions is the way, along with the best young players we can attract for our new footballer factory.

5.) 22 Aug 2024 17:38:58
Every chance we will continue to sell players.

6.) 22 Aug 2024 17:56:28
Sorry but your source is on the sauce!

Bajcetic is on his way to Celta Vigo.

Newcastle are just done signing Guehi for 68 million £ so no chance they are spending 45 million on Gomez (lfc asking 45 million)

Gordon is a Luis Diaz replacement if he goes, not Salah. let's sign a LW who has not played on the RW for 3 years to replace the best RW in the world. Nice scouting.

Inacio is the CB target. Pluss Benfica will NOT negotiate for Antonio Silva meaning paying 100 million € for his release clause in one go. Never! Gonna! Happen!

Salah is also open to renew his contract but not on reduced terms.
Same goes for VVD. Trent is the only one who is likely to stay.

7.) 22 Aug 2024 23:15:47
@Arnes, is the ‘really good source’ a little voice in your head? I get that sometimes, too.

8.) 23 Aug 2024 06:18:31
Diaz can play RW.

17 Aug 2024 14:40:23
Could Saudi buy Nunez? It's obvious slot doesn't rate him or want him.

Arnes barber

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 17 Aug 2024 14:49:35
Based on what?

2.) 17 Aug 2024 14:57:49
How is it obvious? Nunez missed most of pre-season. I expected Jota to start.

3.) 17 Aug 2024 15:42:01
Just WOW!

4.) 17 Aug 2024 16:09:54
Slot is jealous of Nunez's long locks.

5.) 17 Aug 2024 17:10:24
Nunez didn’t start because he’s not ready.
Any other reasons are simply guesswork.

6.) 17 Aug 2024 17:13:06
so true JLC ?.

7.) 17 Aug 2024 17:25:38
Obvious troll is obvious.

8.) 17 Aug 2024 18:25:37
There’s 60 odd games likely to be played this season. Nunez will get his chance.

9.) 17 Aug 2024 18:37:04
Why is it obvious. Fit and inform Jota > Nunez. It’s that simple.

10.) 17 Aug 2024 18:43:35
Nunez has Simeone's Atletico written all over over him. Probably not this summer though.

11.) 17 Aug 2024 19:06:46
Can't believe Rogers insisted on Benteke over Costa. Suarez and Costa. nasty,

12.) 17 Aug 2024 19:15:55
We'll probably let him see out his contract sat on the bench and then let him go on a free.
We should have gone for Zirkzee.

13.) 17 Aug 2024 19:18:05
Elliott and jones must be off too Slot don’t rate them at all because they didn’t feature in the 1st game of the season, he also substituted Quansah at half time so a transfer out must have been agreed at half time!

14.) 17 Aug 2024 20:10:21
Apparently Slots wife has been transfer listed as he left her in Holland.

15.) 18 Aug 2024 00:05:51
If I could buy one of 5he Dutch team it would be Simons without a doubt 21 years old and so much potential. Zirkzee wouldn’t be good enough to be a starter for Liverpool.

16.) 18 Aug 2024 01:08:41
Tbf I don’t think Nunez is going to make jt with us. Unfortunately he needs slot to believe in him and make him our first choice number 9 to have a chance but unfortunately Jota is better.

17.) 18 Aug 2024 05:07:22
I find it odd that people are so worried about making no signings but then in the same breath, are happy to see Nunez sold!

If we didn’t have him and were signing him for the first time, those same people would probably be over the moon….

18.) 18 Aug 2024 08:39:33
How Nunez responds to being benched will be interesting.

19.) 18 Aug 2024 08:43:27
Pretty sure that Nunez must have slept with Arnes Barber’s wife or something considering the amount of rubbish he spouts about Darwin.

20.) 18 Aug 2024 09:44:09
I use to run a Liverpool supporters page on Facebook for 12yrs but closed it down because I could no longer read the nonsense people write. Looking at the above I wonder how long the Ed’s have left in them.

{Ed001's Note - about three and a half minutes.}

21.) 18 Aug 2024 09:48:37
Maybe Arne is waiting to see the outcome of Nunez's national team trouble. No good playing Darwin then he is banned for so many games. makes sense to have the team bedded in with Jota, Mo, Luis, cody until the club find out.

22.) 19 Aug 2024 18:21:57
There will be plenty of minutes and scoring opportunities for both Jota and Nunez this year. I bet they both top 15 goals in the league.

13 Aug 2024 13:26:19
Any chance we could beat arsenal to merino.

Arnes barber

{Ed002's Note - Another player LIverpool have no interest in - of course.}

1.) 13 Aug 2024 14:06:02
We need shiny new toys to play with Ed.

2.) 13 Aug 2024 14:45:44
I understand @Arnes a troll but surely we can do better than that.

12 Aug 2024 14:30:40
Is the Zubimendi deal happening? Does anyone know?

Arnes barber

{Ed002's Note - ONce the two criterioa have been met.}

1.) 12 Aug 2024 14:34:41
The main thing at the moment is that it is not 'not happening'.

2.) 12 Aug 2024 14:39:03
According to Joyce Sociedad will not negotiate with Liverpool and Zubimendi has to pay his buyout clause himself if he wants to leave. Is that just additional pressure on him or they are convinced that he will stay, what is your opinion on the matter, Ed002?

Also are Liverpool eager to trigger it and pay it all at once?

{Ed002's Note - My opinion is that the transfer can go ahead if the two criteria I have told you about are met. If Real Sociedad are adamant that they do not wish to negotiate with Liverpool then the player has to pay his own buy out clause - and of course he does not have €60M to do that. Don't use terms like "trigger it", it is made difficult if the club refuse to negotiate.}

3.) 12 Aug 2024 14:42:09
Sorry Ed I know you’ve said it’s been discussed but any idea what I can search to find! Appreciate you don’t need or want to repeat yourself over and over.

{Ed002's Note - They have to agree the payment with Real Sociedad and persuade the player to make the move.}

4.) 12 Aug 2024 15:14:41
You’d have to hope that Zubimendi doesn’t stumble on to this site (or any other social media actually) and see how our own so called fans slag off their own players constantly.

We ask for unconditional loyalty from our players but then the knives are out the minute they have a bad spell.

5.) 12 Aug 2024 14:49:57
How does a player get round having to stump up 51m?

{Ed002's Note - He doesn't.}

6.) 12 Aug 2024 14:53:41
Well, it is difficult for sure on club to club level but did not PSG do the same with Neymar's clause back in the day, that is what I meant by trigger? I mean I guess it is all on the player now and if Liverpool can persuade him to join and give him 60 million for the clause.

Thank you again for your detailed knowledge.

{Ed002's Note - There are numerous cases where the buy out or release clauses have been met. But clubs can make it very difficult if they do not wish to sell.}

7.) 12 Aug 2024 15:07:05
If the player wants the move and the buying club agrees to meet the release clause in full, surely Sociedad can't refuse to negotiate and insist that the player pay the fee himself, ed? Or am I missing something?

{Ed002's Note - You are missing something.}

8.) 12 Aug 2024 15:33:42
Wow. It’s messy now, surely just move onto another target.

9.) 12 Aug 2024 15:32:00
Ed002 if Zubimandi has to pay his release clause and doesn't have the money Can liverpool give him the money? Or now is impossible to sign him?

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool cannot give him the money, it would count as unearned income and therefore need to be taxed. The transfer can go ahead when the two criteria have been met.}

10.) 12 Aug 2024 15:39:51
According to Sky Sports’ Melissa Reddy on X (formerly Twitter), the process in question is standard in Spain.

Theoretically, should Zubimendi opt to pursue a change of environment, the amount [£51.7m] would be paid to the player to deposit to La Liga.

Buy-out clauses (typical in Spain and slightly different to a release clause) legally requires a player to 'buy out' his contract at the specified amount. The purchasing club still pays the amount to the player (complex process due to tax implications and logistical challenges), … Melissa Reddy (@MelissaReddy_) August 12, 2024.

{Ed002's Note - So she does finally understand then.}

11.) 12 Aug 2024 15:41:28
Liverpool would have to lend the player the money and the player to buy out his contract effectively which can be a tricky process.

My take is if we have to pursue a player to join then don't sign. I am sure there are player out there that would die for the chance to play for us.

{Ed002's Note - Then Liverpool would need to pay another 50% on top of the fee - so €90M.}

12.) 12 Aug 2024 15:49:58
€90 million? No bother just use the caicedo money everyone’s obsessed with, looks like it’s not happening doesn’t it. He would of been our Rodri, for people saying move on players of this calibre are hard to come by.

13.) 12 Aug 2024 15:53:07
shame he cannot just wack it on is American Express card!

14.) 12 Aug 2024 15:49:58

{Ed002's Note - It will happen if the two criteria are met.}

15.) 12 Aug 2024 15:53:07
shame he cannot just wack it on is American Express card!

16.) 12 Aug 2024 17:07:54
Imagine the air miles.

17.) 12 Aug 2024 17:14:31
I’d imagine a Spanish speaking Zubimendi regularly visits English speaking banter and transfer websites in his spare time.

Nunez is another who despite not speaking English loves to Read up on all his English comments.

18.) 12 Aug 2024 16:26:25
Can the player take a peronal loan, (bank or something) pay his club and then close the loan by taking a loan for Liverpool?

{Ed002's Note - Of course not. How could he pay Liverpool back?}

19.) 12 Aug 2024 16:32:22
Ed002, slight change of discussion but can you help understand what happened to Luis Suarez’s buy out clause? Arsenal offered £60M + £1 and Henry refused it - asking what they’re smoking.

What happened there? Similar story? Players money versus Arsenals money?

{Ed002's Note - Arsenal offered £40M and one pound because they did not know if his release clause was for an offer of £40M or an offer over £40M. The response from FSG was embarrassing and made them look rather stupid. Suarez looked to taking legal action. The rules in this country are very different.}

20.) 12 Aug 2024 16:35:31
Who does the extra 50% go to?

{Ed002's Note - The Spanish taxman for unearned income. This is the reason for the first of the two criteria.}

21.) 12 Aug 2024 16:46:34
Ive just read that since 2016 the laws where changed in spain and buyout fees payed to a player are no longer subject to tax?

{Ed002's Note - They have changed on multiple occasions and would be liable to a legal challenge. The transfer of Neymar impacted the situation and then the transfer of Partey changed it again. It remains complicated. Liverpool need to talk again to his club.

22.) 12 Aug 2024 17:19:53
Praying that this whole saga ends swiftly for you ED002. This must be tiring.

{Ed002's Note - I hope so.}

23.) 12 Aug 2024 17:32:50
My understanding was that a 2016 tax ruling by the Spanish authorities treated payment of a buy out clause from the buying club to a player as a Capital gain rather than income, and the paying of the clause as a capital loss, so the net effect is nil and therefore there are no personal income tax liabilities above the buy-out amount?

{Ed002's Note - See previous answers - or perhaps there is a way to lose even more respect in the football community.}

24.) 12 Aug 2024 17:50:55
How can the two criteria be met if Sociedad refuse to negotiate with Liverpool?
Can we still offer the money and trigger his release clause if they are refusing to negotiate with us?

Very confused why we haven't just triggered the release clause already if we want him that much.

{Ed002's Note - Offer the money to who?

25.) 12 Aug 2024 17:58:54
Google translate.

26.) 12 Aug 2024 18:15:19
As of 2016 the law has changed and income tax is no longer applicable for instances where a player receives 3rd party money from buying club to pay his release clause so this headline from today is just unnecessary clickbait drama. Liverpool would always be paying this fee either directly or indirectly and there would be no significant tax implication, as in standard transfer fee tax would be due as it always would be and yes this would be levied against the player not Liverpool and would need to be reimbursed ( the same as the transfer fee) however the overall transfer fee would not be increased with additional taxes as is being reported ( previously 48% prior to 2016). Take this hardline stance by Sociedad as a positive and ask yourself why would they be playing ‘hardball’ if the player wanted to stay?

27.) 12 Aug 2024 18:19:17
Not sure if it is accurate but am reading that the law was changed in 2016 and that the buyout fee advances to the player is no longer taxable.

28.) 12 Aug 2024 18:22:50
Just move on. This is getting silly for everyone.

29.) 12 Aug 2024 19:21:27
Thank you for taking the time to answer my question Ed002 and the many others.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

30.) 12 Aug 2024 20:11:53
So it looks as though Sociedad don’t want to appear to be selling the player

If he buys out his contract then it looks like he has engineered a way out of the club

Given he was born and raised in the area and it’s the only club he’s played for- can’t see it happening

Move on.

31.) 12 Aug 2024 20:31:48
In my uninformed opinion, Liverpool just need to work better with other clubs.
Why do we have to unsettle players or invoke possible clauses to get our business done?

32.) 12 Aug 2024 20:55:17
Apparently he’s not interested in joining us and has said no. That went well.

33.) 12 Aug 2024 21:06:36
Surely the cost to the player to buy out the contract would be tax deductible?

34.) 12 Aug 2024 20:35:42
I have to say, I know ed002 doesn't like explaining things like this over and over. But i really enjoy reading it.

It actually does help when you realise how different things are in reality to what we. as fans, perceive them to be.

Nice one Ed.

35.) 12 Aug 2024 22:58:35
Am I missing something or could a lot of nonsense been avoided had Sociedad been clear that the only way he'd be allowed to leave is via the buyout clause, effectively blocking a move. Was there ever a point where they seemed willing to let him go and would have negotiated a fee in the amount of the buyout clause. I'm not impressed with them, find it to be bad form, and I'm not impressed with Richard Hughes for seemingly being naive that the Spanish club could very well go about their business like that.

Endo is like a fish out of water and I think a lot in that second match are fighting for their futures at the club,

Nunez again absolutely woeful Gakpo in acres of
space but he keeps running, constantly wasting possession just terrible all round again and I don’t see how he fits into this style of play based on composure and calmness when he has none but the Nunez gang will back him no matter what when if you take the red tinted glasses off he’s our worst signing of the Klopp era along with keita and we’re stuck with him as he’s that good nobody not even the Saudis are remotely interested.

Salah and Jota on the other hand were outstanding today and I think this system is built for a striker like Jota, Diaz was good but needs to release the ball quicker like Salah has been but it’s early days so if he stays I’m sure he will adapt.

Gakpo again was poor so he’s playing for his future and I also think tsimikas will start the season as first choice as it appears Klopp favours technicality over physicality so will be an interesting battle between him and Robbo.

Wouldn’t surprise me if we name the 11 from the Sevilla game against Ipswich as every player to a man played very well, much unlike the second game against weaker opposition we need to start asking serious questions about the likes of nunez Gakpo Konate and jones as I don’t see slot taking prisoners.
