Luis Diaz has apparently turned down a contract extension. Do we think this is about money or Barcelona?
{Ed025's Note - money i imagine BR, he will see the "fun boy three" being offered massive pay deals and wanting a piece of the action i expect mate..
1.) 11 Jan 2025 12:11:51
Wouldn’t blame him. Should have cashed on him last summer. Now Barcelona will skin us as they don’t have the cash and he wants them ??????.
2.) 11 Jan 2025 12:15:08
He wants out and has done for ages, I doubt he'll sign a contract, we should flog him in the summer, get what we can before he walks for free next year.
3.) 11 Jan 2025 12:32:33
Cheers Ed. This is why I suspect the club haven't met the three's demands yet because the expectations of the entire squad get out of hand.
{Ed025's Note - thats probably right BR..
4.) 11 Jan 2025 13:11:23
Just curious ED, why do you think most South American players see Real and Barcelona as the ultimate or the pinnacle of club football? Suarez, Coutinho both forcing a move to play for Barca. Diaz and Macca saying they would like to play for one of the Spanish big two etc.
{Ed025's Note - i think its to do with the weather and the culture Mfahmee which is similar to what they are used to at home, the language is also similar and it is probably easier for their respective families to adapt mate..
5.) 11 Jan 2025 14:27:36
But it ain’t what you do it’s the way that you do it, Ed025. That’s what get results.
{Ed025's Note - quality mate..
6.) 11 Jan 2025 17:37:43
@mfahmee2
I teach quite a lot of young people from Latin America. They grow up speaking Spanish or Portuguese and support Madrid or Barcelona (as well as their local team) . The football is broadcast in their countries much like the WWE was broadcast in the UK and the influence it had during the 90s/ 00s. It's just a bigger draw for them. And, as the Ed said, same language, similar culture, sunny weather. This is just how I see it from the point of view of my students!
7.) 12 Jan 2025 03:46:10
My wife is Brasilian and I work with quite a few south American players. Generally speaking they love spain, for most it's the same language, for all it's pretty much the same culture and Madrid/ Barcelona are beautiful cities with superb weather.
Then there's the fact that for decades Madrid and Barcelona have been sold to South Americans as the place to be in Europe. Thinn of all the legendary south American players, where do they go? Almost always madrid and Barca. Players will take certain cities in Italy as well, Florence or Milan mainly, and Paris but I've never met a south American player who didn't have to be persuaded to move to uk. The weather is a huge downer for them, they utterly hate it. A few have also said before people aren't as warm and friendly as they're used to back home. People feel more detached.
My wife is a rarity in that everything others don't like about the UK she loves. She think Brazilian people are too nosey and loves the fact we value privacy, she also hates hot weather. She was pretty devastated during the recent race riots that she suddenly felt so unwelcome in a place which she feels is her home in her heart.

Ed, is our interest in Anthony Gordon long-term or has it been and gone? It seems odd that we were prepared to offer one of the highest sums in our history if it was a fleeting thing and the player is certainly keen on specifically us.
Furthermore is our interest in Chris Rigg genuine? Many thanks.
{Ed002's Note - Anthony Gordon (LW/F) Newcastle may insist on a straight sale without another player being involved now although interest of Liverpool moved on due to his price with them opting for Federico Chiesa. It has been suggested that Arsenal may be interested if Raheem Sterling does not work out. Newcastle will ponder a new contract.
Chris Rigg (CM) Kiddie spotted by Chelsea scouts when watching another Sunderland player. Of an age where he can reach the position of being Club Developed as well as Home Grown. Liverpool and Manchester United have sent scouts.}
1.) 13 Sep 2024 13:32:59
I would expect Liverpool to go back in for him next summer looks ready made for Liverpool. I think he has everything needed to play for us.
2.) 13 Sep 2024 13:13:26
Thanks Ed. Is our interest completely dead or could he be an option if Diaz/ Gakpo/ Nunez move on?
{Ed002's Note - If Nunez leaves Liverpool will look to a striker. Liverpool have already added Chiesa.}
3.) 14 Sep 2024 10:15:24
It will be interesting to see how AG develops this season. I think he has the attributes to be a top CF. A deal to be done next summer with 12 months on his contract.
4.) 14 Sep 2024 10:42:45
Seems inevitable that, as a Red that's keen to join, its only a matter of time before.
27 Aug 2024 17:14:18
Ed2, do you still think Luis Diaz could go to Saudi and Anthony Gordon to Liverpool? Thank you in advance.
{Ed002's Note - Chiesa is a better option to Gordon for me. Diaz wants Spain.}
1.) 27 Aug 2024 18:49:24
Gordon would be a reliable, multi-use, long term squad player, who would be playing for his dream team, not to mention he is still developing and is already very good.
2.) 27 Aug 2024 19:24:42
Really hope we get Chiesa as I always admired him as a player. We don’t have great history with Italian players though: Dossena, Aquilani and Ballotelli come to mind. In fact have we ever had a really good one?
3.) 27 Aug 2024 19:39:05
Luis Diaz is on pretty low wages compared to our other forwards. I think if we offer him a new contract that f. eks matches Jota's wages all this talk of spain would go away and he might even play better! Wishful thinking. I think there is much more to come from Diaz!
4.) 27 Aug 2024 19:59:50
Did you forget Borini Jonbonone? Brendan Rodger's 1st signing, Rodgers praised him so much i thought we were signing Baggio!
5.) 27 Aug 2024 20:08:35
Diaz has been great the first 2 matches.
6.) 27 Aug 2024 20:22:49
If Gordon doesn't sign a new contract he'll end up at Liverpool soon enough.
7.) 27 Aug 2024 20:45:38
Brendan should never have been allowed to bring in his old players (Borini, Allen, etc) or had the control to make us bring in Benteke and the like.
8.) 27 Aug 2024 20:53:08
I am a massive fan of chiesa too jonbonone. Looks to be back to his best after the horror injury as well. Would really love this to happen.
9.) 27 Aug 2024 20:58:03
Fiskesprett my guy, I remember the way BR hyped up Borini very vividly and you are right, you would have thought we signed Baggio (an idol of mine, btw) . BR was such a spoofer, it was so cringe.
As for Chiesa, we will have to see. Gordon? Im with Ed02. He can sray exactly where he is.
10.) 27 Aug 2024 21:02:23
The Italians struggling in England isn't a just Liverpool thing though outside of Di Canio and Zola 25 years ago the best success has been Jorginho and if you try to think of one after him its difficult. Ogbonna maybe? Balotelli has his moments at City. Pelle was decent for Southampton but no one really came in and took the league by storm. I can't recall many Italians doing well in Spain or Germany the last 20 years either. Toni for Bayern was good but who else. Considering they've won a euros and a world cup in that time its a surprise how few players have been big hits outside of Italy.
11.) 27 Aug 2024 21:11:18
I wonder what this signing means for one of the existing front 5.
12.) 27 Aug 2024 22:06:37
Fiskesprett I agree. Pay the man more, granted his dad doesn't help but he never once downs tools or looks like he's not trying 100%. Love Lucho me, workrate is superb, yes his end product can improve for sure but there's enough there for me. He's not had a clear full season with the bad injury 2 seasons ago when he was arguably our best player at start of the season, then last year started well again and his auld pair got kidnapped, say what you want about the lad but that can't be easy to deal with.
I don't know if there's more behind the scenes with ed saying he may have burnt his bridges and if that's the case so be it, but all I can see is a man who gives his all and an old school winger (my favourite type of player ever since I set eyes on Macca (shaggy) back in the day) . Would love to keep him and happy to up his wages if he's on as low as mentioned. in comparison to others at his level. And his song is a belter too!
13.) 27 Aug 2024 22:08:40
Ravanelli has to be the best to example of Italian success in prem. Scored 30 goals a season in a relegated middlesbro.
14.) 28 Aug 2024 07:56:59
Chiesa looks a better option than Gordon for that money. Everyone saying that Chiesa is 'broken' have clearly not seen he played 33 games last season and he's hardly going to be playing every game this season with Salah ahead of him.
Chiesa is an insanely talented footballer, he's very direct and suits the prem.
Diaz has started like a house on fire, let's hope we can keep him one more year or see where things are at in January.
Along with Chiesa and the GK, I still think it's 50/ 50 if a CB deal is completed in time. Hope Gomez gets a game soon as he deserves it.
15.) 27 Aug 2024 20:12:58
Thanks Ed. Is there much chance Diaz gets his dream move to Spain or is it a pipe dream for him? Chiesa seems too cheap and too risky to be a replacement for him. More of a supplementary signing like Shaqiri.
{Ed002's Note - I would doubt it.}
21 May 2024 17:03:03
And there it is. I see in a recent interview with The Redmen that Lijnders himself has taken "credit" for the inverted full-back tactics. Apparently Klopp was hesitant but Lijnders had a strop until Klopp relented.
Honestly I'm glad to see the back of this megalomaniac. I have a lot of emotions about the Klopp era but one of the more negative ones is "what if? " What if Klopp didn't have this clown in his ear, muddying his ideas? Would we have won more? No wonder Buvac left.
1.) 21 May 2024 17:23:24
He has a point about the midfield being overran we were getting killed on the counter once we lost Bobby and gini, would of just been easier to go 3 at the back like Amorim or xabi as that seems to be the meta tactic in this era.
2.) 21 May 2024 17:27:37
Even at the send off I found him annoying. Jumped up. Time will tell, I guess.
3.) 21 May 2024 18:16:47
The fella would get up on himself if he could turn quick enough.
4.) 21 May 2024 18:28:58
You are children.
You’ve never been to training, never seen the dynamic and never interacted with any of these people and have decided to service an agenda to come out with this utter bilge.
Most top sides now try to invert fullbacks. Until 2 months ago it was an absolute success for us. We won a cup, we had 7 points robbed off us by awful officiating and you’re spouting this inane nonsense.
Lads, don’t breed.
5.) 21 May 2024 19:14:17
The thing is Why0why that regardless to what you think about Pep he has come out repeatedly on multiple platforms to make it clear how important he has been to our success. That isn’t an agenda on anybody’s part pointing that out, that’s simply a statement of fact.
If you listen/ watch the recent “reds roundtable” with him, Klopp, Alex inglethorp, Cody and Harvey he does something similar there. He is talking about the relationship between the fans, the team and the manager and he starts says “you where able to” (to Klopp) and quickly changes that to “we where able to” mid sentence. Fella can’t help himself.
I thank him for being part of the success and I wish him well but I’m not sad he’s going. I had more than enough ego with Rodgers at the helm.
6.) 21 May 2024 19:40:14
And yet Klopp clearly listened to him. Strange thing for a successful manager to do if Ljinders is "a clown" isn't it?
At the end of the day, if Ljinders' tactics were flawed, doesn't the buck stop with Klopp for going with them instead of saying no or sacking him and getting another assistant?
7.) 21 May 2024 20:30:31
And how do you know the changing it to ‘we’ rather than ‘you’ isn’t because Klopp has told them to speak like that as they are a team and it’s not just about Klopp. I can sort of see what people mean with Linders but Klopp made the final decisions. He comes across ok on the video with the 6 coaches on you tube. Plus his English isn’t perfect so all this he said we and not you is just r language not ego. Anyway if the guy took the training and was an integral part of the tactics he deserves some praise not just criticism.
8.) 21 May 2024 22:05:01
Some people don’t like Lijnders and take comments or media quotes at face value with little or no attempt at placing the snippet they take to heart within any sort of context and thus an opinion is formed that is then presented as fact.
At the end of the day, who cares? Life goes on - the much praisedJurgen has gone, the much criticised Pep has gone. Whatever the dynamic the most exciting era for the club in 35 years or so is over.
Time to open up the next chapter. Here’s hoping that in 10 years time Arne is seem in the same light as Jurgen and held in the same esteem.
9.) 21 May 2024 22:13:19
I'm pretty sure we're allowed an opinion without you screaming at us and telling us not to breed. Get off your high horse.
28 Apr 2022 14:48:09
Klopp has extended to 2026 per David Ornstein!
1.) 28 Apr 2022 14:57:44
Fantastic news!
Over the moon about it ðŸ˜.
2.) 28 Apr 2022 15:32:40
I don't think my wife realises how important this is. Im walking around with biggest smile.
She called me a berk.
After 34 years i might have married a 'dud'
3.) 28 Apr 2022 16:59:20
What a great day to be a Liverpool fan 💪.
4.) 28 Apr 2022 17:07:24
Thank you Jurgen 😊.
5.) 28 Apr 2022 17:17:27
Apperently Mrs Klopp had a big say and told him he should stay longer. So thank you Mrs K!
6.) 28 Apr 2022 17:45:23
Should have signed him up to his 60th birthday.
7.) 28 Apr 2022 18:37:17
Ornstein is usually very reliable. Result.
8.) 28 Apr 2022 18:48:19
I can’t believe we are stuck with him for another few years. #overrated. I was hoping we’d get Rogers back in. Ah well.
9.) 28 Apr 2022 18:50:18
SOd Rogers, we need Woy back, when Watford go down. WARRAMMERR!
10.) 28 Apr 2022 19:31:15
Some more details on new Klopp contract by David Maddock:
*Agreed 4 year deal
*Replaces current deal, runs to 2026
*Option for longer
*Staff extend
*Backing for signings
*Wants Salah and Mane sorted
*Klopp initiated deal, to build dynasty
*Energised by players couldn't walk away
AMAZING!
11.) 28 Apr 2022 19:56:59
So excited I decided to have a quick tom tank, and that's how I got banned from starbucks.
12.) 28 Apr 2022 20:45:33
Would this make klopp the best paid manager in the world?
13.) 28 Apr 2022 21:26:25
“but since I'm here it feels like every day we come together a little bit closer, we understand each other a little bit better, we appreciate each other a little bit moreâ€.
I love my family and employ lots of people and I have never been lost for words of encouragement . Never have I read such pertinent words. What a leader
We love Jurgen.
14.) 28 Apr 2022 22:00:19
Fantastic news, 4 more years of brilliant attacking football 😎.
15.) 29 Apr 2022 12:00:50
Brilliant news and if I was a betting man, Salah would be next.
{Ed0666's Note - I get that feeling also mate. It’s kind of scary the feel good factor emanating out of the club at the moment I just hope it continues for an extremely long time. FSG are playing a blunder at the moment everything they touch is turning to gold.
16.) 29 Apr 2022 12:15:19
There needs to be a song for Klopp's wife at the next home match.
{Ed0666's Note - I fully support that motion
17.) 29 Apr 2022 16:45:53
"Mrs Klopp Mrs Klopp running down the wing". oh wait 😅.

That England team is basically Southgate on steroids. You've got to love the infiltration by the DFB.
04 Mar 2025 21:50:48
The new Champions League system is unbalanced and flawed. We came top and got one of the hardest draws. Meanwhile Villa and Arsenal get pushover ties. PSG only came as low as they did as they had some really tough matches. Tables only work if you all play each other both home and away otherwise it's unfair. Go back to the old system. Greedy UEFA.
1.) 04 Mar 2025 22:01:14
We beat PSG in the league and, considering we likely have Real next and you would get Villa, I'd say you have the easy draw.
Scared about tomorrow, are you?
2.) 04 Mar 2025 22:06:36
Yeah am personally nervous about tomorrow, but you want to know what am not nervous about? Is Arsenal winning the CL! 6 times pal, 6 times. Come back when you have 3 alright?
3.) 04 Mar 2025 22:16:53
Yeah, exactly my point. You beat PSG at home which makes a massive difference, especially in Europe.
Am I nervous about tomorrow? Of course I am. We are playing one of the toughest teams in the competition. I would much rather be virtually guaranteed passage to the quarter-finals like you and Villa have been.
4.) 04 Mar 2025 22:47:00
I didn't want to know, actually, but good work counting so high all on your own (:
5.) 04 Mar 2025 22:50:10
I think it's fine. Cups always turn up tricky ties no matter what way you cut it. Part of the fun.
We got a tough game but we got a chance. A chance is all you need.
6.) 04 Mar 2025 22:54:32
Love being told we're scared by fans of a club 13 points behind us.
7.) 04 Mar 2025 22:56:41
Jose Mourinho was right, Arsene Wenger really is a voyeur.
8.) 04 Mar 2025 23:19:02
Sir Wenger you’re on to a loser coming on here mate and trying to give it the big’un.
Your team have choked big time in the last 3 years, so much so that your manager has resorted to concentrating on set pieces and cheating to try to win games and you’ve still failed miserably. You really have nothing to back up your bravado.
Get back on the Gooner page with your tail between your legs like your team has this season and come back when you have actually got something to shout about. Off you pop.
9.) 04 Mar 2025 23:28:34
We are top of the hardest league in the world, topped the CL league phase too, have scored over 100 goals this season, so far. Let them fear us, I say. UTFR.
10.) 05 Mar 2025 00:11:55
Liverpool drew PSG because nobody expected the likes of them, Real, City and Bayern to finish outside the top 8. But they did, so we are where we are. Quit moaning and enjoy the ride. You have to beat the better teams if you want to win trophies anyway.
11.) 05 Mar 2025 00:23:49
PSG’s quality is being overstated anyway. They are a dangerous side but over 2 legs we should be them.
In a one off game we should beat them.
12.) 05 Mar 2025 00:25:45
Sorry lads, I thought you could handle my opinion on the draw without throwing your toys out, my mistake.
13.) 05 Mar 2025 00:36:51
I don't really see the difference in that a 'top' team could have a bad group stage and finish second. it's happened before when the round of 16 pitted two top teams against each other.
The issue I have with this version is that they added another layer of uncertainty by group the seeded teams in pairs so that there is still uncertainty about which side of the draw you end up on.
It does make the rankings seems a bit frivolous other than prize money I guess.
14.) 05 Mar 2025 01:15:37
Does it really matter - it’s a cup, the luck of the draw and if we are good enough - which we are - we win the tie and move on.
Arsenal fans fishing is just an irrelevance.
15.) 05 Mar 2025 02:51:20
It's a banter site, Robbo. We talk crap about Arsenal all the time on here so we should take it when they talk crap about us too. Besides, SirWenger is a good poster and is just poking us a bit. Posters from all sites are welcomed as long as they can take as much as they give :)
16.) 05 Mar 2025 05:26:22
Would you prefer if rival fans had another excuse to say we aren't actually that good because all the other teams had bad seasons or injuries in the PL and we got an easy draw in the CL? It's time for the lads to shut everyone up, I'm sure they relish it.
17.) 05 Mar 2025 06:34:43
Apart from United fans @Drac ?.
18.) 05 Mar 2025 07:11:24
Exactly Dracred so he shouldn’t come over here if he can’t take it. I’m only giving banter back to his banter. No biggy.
If you’re walking into the lions den you want to be wearing armour. The way Arsenal have played recently and pathetically surrendered in the title race, he’s covered in steak and asking to be ripped apart.
19.) 05 Mar 2025 07:30:28
I’m always a bit nervous no matter who we play. Makes no odds leagues or cups teams are there on merit.
20.) 05 Mar 2025 09:09:06
Nice to hear from an Arsenal fan @SirWenger. You lot have been very quiet for the last 6 months!
On a serious note, you may have beaten PSG in the league phase but we have already beaten Madrid this season in the CL so I'm struggling to see your point.
Anyway congratulations on the great win last night. It's just a shame you used up all those goals in one game instead of using a few of them against West Ham and Forrest.
21.) 05 Mar 2025 09:52:59
I think it's a natural talking point in a league format to then query the advantage you really get from topping the table.
There's a lot of variables that mean finishing top only has a monetary advantage. But in terms of football, it could still be a lottery.
22.) 05 Mar 2025 14:47:21
Lol give wenger a break, he came meaning no harm, a bit of light hearted banter.
23.) 06 Mar 2025 08:59:59
@Faith, if the comp iconsists of the top 32 teams in Europe- at least notionally - having played 8 qualifiers and qualified for the last 16: it’s inevitable that you are going to play a good team whoever the opponent happens to be.
25 Feb 2025 18:45:32
Did anyone see the comments by Sepp Van Den Berg recently where he speaks with confidence about specifically a move to Liverpool in the future? Odd comments to make unless there's a buyback clause.
1.) 25 Feb 2025 20:11:18
I read about how he admitted that he has had second thoughts about whether or not it was the right choice to leave and that he would love to play for Liverpool again in the future.
2.) 25 Feb 2025 20:40:23
Not many chances of that when he can't get regular games for Brentford, he is 3rd choice over there.
3.) 25 Feb 2025 20:50:18
Hardly 3rd choice. He’s played 21 of their 26 league games and he’s only missed the last couple because he is injured.
4.) 25 Feb 2025 21:25:18
I just think it's weird to talk openly with the press about moving back to a club six months after you left. I would kind of expect vague talk about Champions League, trophies and playing at the highest level but saying you want to perform so you can earn a move back to Liverpool made me wonder if there was a buyback clause.
5.) 25 Feb 2025 21:39:39
He's started 20 Premier League game this season. I swear some people just say dumb stuff for attention.
6.) 26 Feb 2025 07:24:35
He wasn’t too happy at the end of his Liverpool career, if you could call it that? You never know what the future brings tho.
7.) 26 Feb 2025 09:09:01
If it is meant to happen then, it will happen.
8.) 26 Feb 2025 09:20:52
My bad, you're right about him playing plenty. I was sure he was 3rd choice because he started the first games on the bench. I'll admit i almost never watch Brentford games unless they play us.
9.) 26 Feb 2025 09:22:00
What attention is that? Looking dumb is hardly something that needs attention. Was an honest mistake is all.
10.) 26 Feb 2025 11:25:01
Why do some LFC supporters always want to go backwards to the past? Do they have a hot tub time machine?
11.) 26 Feb 2025 16:17:54
Never say never and all that, but this boy was mouthing off to the media about leaving and "deserving more respect", all summer long. What's happened to all that now?
31 Jan 2025 00:44:11
Sort of Liverpool related but what on earth is Henderson playing at? He's captain of Ajax, one of the biggest heritage clubs in Europe. They're competing for the title. And they got him out of his Saudi nightmare. It's not even much of an upgrade; it's just an average Monaco side. Was his attitude always this bad or is there more to this story?
1.) 31 Jan 2025 06:26:32
Didn’t he play for them tonight?
2.) 31 Jan 2025 07:03:09
Doesn’t Monaco have special tax rules for their residents?
I’m not sure he is a money orientated person though.
In the past he spoke out about players taking a pay cut during the pandemic, for player welfare and he went to Saudi to grow the sport there.
So it’s never been about money for him ?.
Move on (am I allowed to say that or is it only certain posters that have that power? )
3.) 31 Jan 2025 07:26:32
WHat's he done?
4.) 31 Jan 2025 08:49:20
Is there more to what story, exactly?
5.) 31 Jan 2025 08:54:07
Ajax captain despite being there for about a year? Yeah he must have a terrible attitude!
6.) 31 Jan 2025 09:47:33
@Thunderbird, he did play but he didn't captain the side. Not sure what the story is though since I've seen conflicting reports. Some are saying that he's forcing his way out while a few are saying that Ajax wants him to go to ease their financial problems.
Sneijder's comments about his captaincy is curious though since it implies that Hendo was the one who gave it up willingly rather than it being stripped from him. All in all, I have no idea what's going on and both Ajax and Hendo are keeping mum about it.

this just feels like to make a thread to hate on Henderson for no reason. how strange.
8.) 31 Jan 2025 10:44:51
UPDATE: after apparently telling Ajax that he wouldn't play for them again after last night, Henderson has now apologised and will stay at Ajax after regretting his behaviour.
Drama over for now but not a good look for a player who is still trying to rebuild his reputation.

Henderson is a good man. He wanted to grow game in Saudi but when he saw atrocious state of football in Netherlands, he had pity on them and went Netherlands to grow the game there.
10.) 31 Jan 2025 14:18:18
MK well he's not captain anymore.

That's almost wit, Lee. Congrats.
Henderson demonstrated his motivations by going to Saudi Arabia. I'm delighted he ended up leaving without getting a penny.

2 dead rubber Champions League games sandwiched between Ipswich at home coming up. Do we give Salah a break so that he is ready for the rest of the season?
1.) 18 Jan 2025 17:18:21
Give him and grav a break. Diaz too. Much much needed.
2.) 18 Jan 2025 17:24:14
Yes. Give chiesa minutes and Nunez.
3.) 18 Jan 2025 17:30:07
I hope so. That was the reason to sign Chiesa.
4.) 18 Jan 2025 17:30:15
No. You play him because he doesn't tire, and hopefully game time will bring his scoring, and confidence, back up.
5.) 18 Jan 2025 17:36:44
Chiesa needs minutes so seems a no brainer.

I do wonder if KDB could do a Pirlo and make City regret letting him leave.
09 Apr 2025 17:32:11
Yeah, you and everybody else.
06 Apr 2025 16:14:40
Provided we sign a number 9, do you think Chiesa will effectively be Diaz's replacement next season as the wing rotation option?
{Ed001's Note - no he is a right winger.}
03 Apr 2025 13:21:15
Elliot Anderson would be my pick. I like Wharton, Larsson but they would cost a lot and the question is would they start? Anderson would, I believe. Or maybe go for a cheaper rotation option like Frendrup.

Not the profile of player we go for but it's contrarian to pretend that Kane isn't a top class player.

A panic buy doesn't cost £14 million, Salah.
21 Apr 2025 21:31:19
You know what I mean, Rigsby. You're just being pedantic there!
Baker on the flip side, why would we want to invest a significant amount of money on a player who plans to run down his contract so he can get a significant signing-on fee somewhere else?
21 Apr 2025 19:47:05
But PSG don't know he will sign for them in a year, Rigsby. If they sign him now, they know he's their player and can play him immediately.
21 Apr 2025 19:44:21
I don't really understand your point, Oli. We sold Coutinho for £140m. Most players either leave before it gets to that stage or the club decide to make use of their services. Just the other month, Rashford was training with the United youth team. Wasn't Chiesa frozen out of the Juventus first-team when we signed him?
21 Apr 2025 18:18:45
I actually think we'll get more for him, Rigsby. If PSG want him, they'll pay close to market value as they won't want to risk losing him to Real Madrid when he's free. I remember we paid about £40m for Oxlade-Chamberlain when he had a year left on his contract at Arsenal back in 2017.
