Hi everyone!

IF these Salah to Saudi rumours are true (I'm guessing they aren't) .

Do you see it as another Coutinho moment to rebuild with the money or would you keep him?

Obviously all hypothetical but would be interested to see what people think.

Cheers Red and Eds ?.

Seems we have the money but there isn’t many options left on the market, that the people in charge believe to improve the team. At least not ones which price correlates with Liverpool’s valuation. So IMO hold out and then prepare for a possible salah departure next summer.

2.) 24 Aug 2023 15:42:50
Nothing to see here, move along.

3.) 24 Aug 2023 15:50:07
That’s a discussion for next year hopefully!

4.) 24 Aug 2023 16:23:21
“Not many options on the market” ?. You mean not many options on the market at the price we want to pay you mean. There are plenty of options on the market currently. Why would we sell Salah? He’s guaranteed quality - we can’t even trust the club to replace Fab or Hendo, so I have no hope with them replacing Salah.

5.) 24 Aug 2023 16:26:27
OP, it's a non issue on the Salah reports, man. As for his replacement, that's for another time even tho, we can be sure that the club is prolly already scouting his replacement and prolly have the options already on the table.

6.) 24 Aug 2023 16:37:10
Re Salah, I wouldn’t bet against something happening, can’t see it but as the saying goes, it’s a funny old game.

If it were to happen, then Szlob on RW he used to play there a bit deeper, but has played there.

Obviously Salah would command a high fee, could that cover 2xmid and a CD, I know JK has said no more outgoing, but he also quoted that the Saudis could cause problems bidding (biggly? } when the our window shuts.

7.) 24 Aug 2023 16:52:19
You would struggle to get another forward in for the price they are supposedly going to offer. It's far from Coutinho money, especially in this day and age. Absolutely zero sense in even entertaining the thought of selling him.

8.) 24 Aug 2023 16:53:21
When we sold Coutinho, it was huge amount for a good player.

Salah is a world class player and in my opinion will be very very difficult to replace.

Cant see it happening this window.

9.) 24 Aug 2023 16:55:08
If we had done a Hendo poll on him leaving for Saudi at the end of last season I reckon it would have been 100% it’s a no go.

I really hope Salah stays not just this season but next season. But I wouldn’t be confident enough to put a big money bet on it.

10.) 24 Aug 2023 17:17:56
And why are you so confident Salah wouldn’t move to Saudi @Oli red? If not this summer he is 100% in 12 months time we still wouldn’t replace him ???.

11.) 24 Aug 2023 17:22:24
As soon as we bought szlob i had a horrible feeling it would be as a salah replacement. Seems strange we're after another CM too as that would mean we'll have 3 new players for 2 spaces. It just doesn't seem to be the way we do things we normally leave ourselves short if anything. Hope I'm just being pessimistic but this train of thought has already gone through my mind even befire the saudi links.

12.) 24 Aug 2023 17:10:18
Can you imagine the owners of Brighton in this scenario. They would be demanding £150m-£175m to start negotiations. I hope Salah stays but if he wants to go we have to get as much money as possible and talk of €100 million doesn’t cut it.

In terms of who we would get to replace him - we would have to to treat it as a collaborative effort. In the sense of go and get a class midfielder a class defender (what’s left in the market) and a class wide forward.

Personally I would be targeting Khvicha Kvaratskhelia as the wide forward and Aurélien Tchouaméni as the midfielder. Both are probably not for sell and both are most likely happy at their respective clubs.

13.) 24 Aug 2023 17:31:25
250m pounds transfer might just be accepted. the biggest problem is trying to replace Salah.

14.) 24 Aug 2023 17:33:15
If Salah departs, especially this late in the transfer window, even for a sum between £150-£200 million, be prepared for supporters to turn vehemently against the management. Full-blown FSG out protests could erupt.

15.) 24 Aug 2023 17:41:18
Personally I wouldn’t be against us agreeing a deal in principle for next summer. It stops therm getting in his ear as they are happy negotiations are done, and I think he ends up leaving next summer regardless. Also means we know where we are at so he gets the send off he deserves

I’d rather him stay forever, but if he is wanting to leave I think that’s the best solution.

16.) 24 Aug 2023 18:10:06
Ricky lambert and balotelli still available?

17.) 24 Aug 2023 18:21:24
As good as Salah is, we've replaced better players than him in the past and gone on to be even better. It may be another Barnes, Beardsley, Aldridge moment.

18.) 24 Aug 2023 18:44:10
Isn't that what you are hoping for Harry habibi?

19.) 24 Aug 2023 19:37:05
Rome did you post that when we also sold suarez? And got lambert and balotelli. doesn't always work mate. Sometimes you have a world great who you'll never replace. Rooney at united, Henry at arsenal.
Salah at liverpool is the same. Players like salah are one offs.

Hi Reds, don't want to be negative but I'm not sure a DM would alter how easily we were played through Vs Chelsea.

In the wide areas we look so vulnerable. For a long time including last season it's been the same problem. Our tactics look dodgy and I'm not sure any amount of new players solve that.

On the bright side it's only 1 game in and we haven't lost ?.

1.) 14 Aug 2023 09:58:54
I think it would have because it has a knock on effect. The others will play in the proper positions and do what they are better at which makes us overall more effective. We would have had Macca higher up and probable Gabpo would have started in the 9. I think we would have been more balanced.

2.) 14 Aug 2023 09:59:18
I think our left side looked vulnerable because our left midfielder is our best striker and not a left midfielder and because despite that robbo continued to make bombing overlaps into the attacking 3rd instead of leaving Diaz and Gakpo to do that. I love robbo but if we're playing with 2 forwards on our left side then he simply has to stay in position.

He also needs to stop turning his back on every cross they send in and actually try and block one. The other side is going to be open because trent is being asked to play 2 positions and that is dificult enough without also ending up on the left wing sometimes. We desperately need a mobile dm with good positional awareness. This will allow Mac Allister to play alongside and go forward when needed and gakpo to play false 9 where he is best.

3.) 14 Aug 2023 10:39:50
The balance was off without a DM, Mac had to play deeper and we lacked the pressure high up the pitch across the game.

4.) 14 Aug 2023 13:35:54
It was the same story last season with Fabinho playing mind. nothing new.

Chelsea had joy down our left side first half but second half most of their chances came down the right. The amount of crosses we allowed ridiculous too.

Fingers crossed a DM solves that but I think there’s more to it that, maybe a tactical change like going 3 at the back. In which case we would need a LCB ?‍♂️.

hey REDS!

Just looking over some of Suso's highlights from his time at AC Milan and can't help at think we should never of let him go.

At his time at the club I really rated him (more than Sterling) as a future talent and now he seems to be fulfilling his potential also being linked with a lot of big clubs.

What do u guys think? I know its random but a change of topic I suppose haha!

BradleyBear

1.) 15 Jun 2017 09:46:31
A lot of people agree but we're talking 2 different leagues and there's no guarantee he would have had the same impact in this league.

2.) 15 Jun 2017 09:50:11
Suso always had a lot of ability but frankly I never saw him as a top EPL player. Pace and style of the Italian league suits him better. He was definitely not first team material here when he was sold.

3.) 15 Jun 2017 10:10:00
I remember watching him in the Euros or World Cup U19 for Spain and he played a Xabi Alonso or Stevie G (later in his career) deep QB midfield role.

I think this may of suited him better in a league like the Prem because like you said his lack of pace but his passing range and vision is good and he's deceptively strong.

4.) 15 Jun 2017 10:10:34
Aquilani comes to mind.

5.) 15 Jun 2017 10:34:04
Dont say thay ron where about to buy salah.

6.) 15 Jun 2017 11:04:58
Aquilani was very unfortunate with injuries when we signed him. He actually had a lot of quality. On Suso, I loved the lad but how long has he been gone and is still only showing glimpses that he could be a star. He would not have had the playing time here to develop and it was right for him to go. Sterling is on a different level. Only for we got crazy money for him, he would be one of our biggest regrets.

7.) 15 Jun 2017 11:05:21
It's a grass is greener on the other side situation. The background with Rodgers and the fact that Sterling didn't work out make Suso look better on reflection.

If he'd never been our player would he even be on our radar? I doubt it.

8.) 15 Jun 2017 11:31:33
Say for example he bumbled his way through inconsistency for two seasons before now, do you think you would have stood by him while he developed into the player he is now? ( and we're not talking about Iniesta here haha)

9.) 15 Jun 2017 11:53:39
Italian league is a dead slow league and this who watch it regularly ( full length 90 mts ) match would get an idea. You could literally Jogg and walk through the pitch often.

10.) 15 Jun 2017 18:44:38
Suso was a top prospect who didn't get the game time he deserved which caused him to suffer and ultimately, the team to suffer during his final season with us. He would have been a natural player to replace Coutinho's skill and he worked hard. He may never have become a top player no matter what we did, but he certainly merited more game time then he got with us and could have helped us far more than he did.

11.) 16 Jun 2017 17:28:42
Hjikle, this is one of my bugbears. Suso was given a good run in the first team, he got far better opportunities than any youth players has since Klopp took over. His problem was that he made little impact when given pitch time whilst Sterling, who was a year younger, contributed from the start.

Suso was always going to be behind Sterling in the pecking order and therefore chose to leave despite being offered a new contract, it had nothing to do with not being given a chance.

10 Dec 2015 12:28:57
Hi Eds and fellow REDS!

I would really like to see J. Teixeira have a extended run in the first team.

I really think he got what it takes! what's everyone else's opinion on him?

Cheers.

BradleyBear

1.) 10 Dec 2015 12:44:55
It doesn really matter what everyone else think becase the one that counts, Mister Klopp is appearantly not impressed.

2.) 10 Dec 2015 13:39:52
Who said Klopp isn't impressed?

I like JCT he'll get a chance when all the unwanted fringe players have been moved on.

3.) 10 Dec 2015 13:57:05
TBH our best performances have been from 3 Attacking midfielders up top. Klopp may decide to return to this rather than use the immobile and Disinterested Benteke. I don't think Origi is read to lead the line just yet, so would like to see Klopp revert to to a font 3 of Lallana Fimino and Coutinho, but with Coutinho's recent injury, this may open up space for Tex.

That is my preference of a front 3 at the moment and there's no reason Tex can't slot in there.

4.) 10 Dec 2015 13:38:19
Teixeira plays in an area where Klopp has Lallana, Coutinho, Firmino ahead of him which makes it very difficult for him to get chances as Klopp will want to see what those 3 senior international players have to offer.

The only fit RB is Clyne that's why Randall has got his chances, same goes for Moreno that's why Smith is begining to get his chances. Teixeira is a good player but will have to wait his chance, he will get registered in the europa league squad soon and get more chances then.

5.) 10 Dec 2015 14:58:27
Young players need to be groomed and given chances here and there before before being given extended runs. Builds there confidence, otherwise some "supporters" and the media "experts" will turn on them.
Ibe is a prime example, started the season little off and everybody was giving him stick and his confidence was gone. Thanks god that Klopp came when he did and now Ibe is a very reliable starter.
So let Klopp do his thing!

6.) 10 Dec 2015 15:23:03
I understand people giving out about rodgers not playing tex, but I trust Klopps judgement on whether he's good enough or not.

7.) 10 Dec 2015 15:58:39
Omalley, then by that logic, if klopp doesn't think he is good enough that would justify Rodgers not playing him or registering him for the EL.

8.) 10 Dec 2015 18:54:21
but he could play him in the league or carling cup so.

Acered, I disagree with that.

No doubt Elliot is talented but i don't think anybody has seen enough of him at Premiership level to judge him yet. I think every red hope he fulfils his potential.

Shaq picked out some lovely passes/ through balls for us.

Agree. tactically look very poor lately. Regardless who plays in midfield or who we do or do not sign I think it will be the same. Tactics need looking at.

I would not describe him as a holding midfielder… Ndidi plays deeper than him in the Leicester system 🤷‍♂️.

BradleyBear

{Ed001's Note - he is not in any way a holding midfielder. He is a central midfielder who likes to break forward. He has always played with a deeper lying midfielder behind him, such as Ndidi, to do the holding role.}

He didn’t get torn apart at all. 1-0 was the final result and Italy had hardly any real chances, all while playing against a superior team with 10 men for half of it.

He’s young and playing on the left when he usually plays on the right! Can’t please some people 🙈🙈🤣🤣.
