Hi Ed,

Is there even a slim chance of a deal for Barella this summer or is it all hyped up nonsense?

Bradthered

{Ed002's Note - No.}

Italians don't travel that well to the UK-This one is never happening.

{Ed0666's Note - Are you Tony Robinson? How about Zola? Ravanelli? Di Canio? Vialli? Mancini?

2.) 28 Jun 2022 21:49:40
Loved Benito Carbone, brilliant player. Cudicini wasn't bad either.

3.) 28 Jun 2022 21:57:02
Gino D'Acampo.

4.) 28 Jun 2022 23:10:26
I think you mean Italians don't travel well to Liverpool, Spaceman:
Dossena, Borini, Balotelli, Aquilani.

5.) 28 Jun 2022 23:28:26
‘So apart from the wine and the roads and the schools and the public baths and the football players what have the Romans ever done for us? ’ (to mis-quote slightly)

{Ed0666's Note - oh don’t forget lIaria D'Amico. She’s settle really well into the UK especially in my dungeon…I mean in the Match Of The Day studio.

6.) 28 Jun 2022 23:29:21
My late dad absolutely loved Zola?.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m sorry about your bad bro…he sure had fine taste in footballers tho mate.

7.) 29 Jun 2022 09:18:32
To Liverpool specifically i mean, and it is well known that Italians are more nationalistic and love their home comforts more than some other nationalities. Barella would be all alone, with no fellow Italians about to share cultural norms with like the Brazilian players do.

{Ed001's Note - there is an Italian community in Liverpool mate. I am sure he would have no problems with that.}

8.) 29 Jun 2022 11:37:35
I hear you Ed001, only another player/ italian family at the club could sway a move like this, and he would be the only 1.

{Ed001's Note - it really doesn't work like that.}

9.) 29 Jun 2022 00:01:30
Thank you Ed0666.The funny thing is me da hadn't a clue about football he didn't even know how to kick a ball but he just loved Zola. He was a class player I loved watching him play myself.

{Ed0666's Note - Zola just oozed class mate mercurial footballer

West derby that is a wonderful wonderful post. The problem with Barella is that he’s not the messiah.

11.) 29 Jun 2022 13:10:19
@Jezza, true mate, he’s a very, very naughty boy.

12.) 29 Jun 2022 13:13:54
Love it WDD, don't think some got it though ?.

13.) 29 Jun 2022 13:32:37
We're all individuals.

14.) 29 Jun 2022 17:32:54
If I remember correctly, Alberto Aquilani's wife was better thought of then him in Liverpool ;-)

Does anyone know if we have been or are looking at Szoboszlai? I think he'd be a great signing (not just based on the Hungary game tonight) thoughts?

Bradthered

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool are not showing an interest.}

Here's my gut feelings around our business so far:

- I think danjuma will be the mane 'replacement', seems to be the best fit of the 10 million forwards we are linked with.

- I can't see us bringing in a new midfielder this summer, I expect the likes of keita, jones and carvalho to get a lot of game time

- There will be 1 out of the blue signing that not many will expect.

@Brad, I believe that Diaz was the Mane replacement - we moved early for him as Conte was circling.

I think we will look to sign cover for Fabs, I think he is our weak link in terms of proper coverage.

I reckon all signings will be out of the blue. In the past couple of seasons the tendency has been for signings to have an element of ‘I never saw that coming’.

2.) 06 Jun 2022 01:30:21
@VVVV, I’d say the odds are slim seeing as Carvalho will be joking on the 1st of July.

3.) 06 Jun 2022 06:31:49
Why will Carvalho be joking on July 1st? Is this some sort of Portuguese version of April fools I don’t know about?

4.) 06 Jun 2022 08:11:32
If we lose Mane and Origi, that feels like a lot of firepower gone from the team.
Ok, Origi doesn’t play much, and it’s a fair enough point to say squad players can cover his absence though all of the three candidates mentioned (Elliott, Carvalho, Minamino) are similar, buzzy busy smaller players without exceptional pace.
If one of the starting 3 forwards gets injured, it feels like we’re very quickly down a level at least afterwards?
We said this last Summer with the midfield and it turned out well enough.
But there’s always that same nagging feeling - City’s strength in depth ends up telling ultimately?

5.) 06 Jun 2022 08:18:38
I think it’s a case of Danjuma talking himself up and putting his name out there. He’s nowhere near good enough or consistent enough to warrant any substantial interest.

I can see him going to United to link up with fellow Dutchman Ten Hag, they need someone mediocre to fill in for Jessie Lingard.

6.) 06 Jun 2022 08:26:28
@Thunderbird, in Portugal they have July Fools Day. Either that or the effing autocorrect on my phone turned ‘joining’ into ‘joking’.

7.) 06 Jun 2022 10:11:38
I fully agree, VVVV on Danjuma. He is not good enuff for us. Nkunku and Raphinha would be very good signings for us, IMO.

If we wouldn’t pay that for tchoumeni (or however you spell it) then I can’t see us offering that for Nunez.

Gomez could still be a quality CB in my view if his fitness issues are behind him, fingers crossed for the lad.

Hope the mane deal gets sorted asap so we get someone in quickly (can’t see it being Nunez)

As part of milners new deal I’ve heard he’s now got a set of double doors named after him.
