Rumour floating around about Asensio?

be a tidy addition for the attack. Maybe mean moving Shaqiri on though.

Brick-Top

1.) 12 Jul 2019 08:41:04
Think they will float past August 8th.

2.) 12 Jul 2019 09:41:04
Not happening mate. No interest as per Ed’s.

3.) 12 Jul 2019 10:06:16
I have seen these Asensio rumours too but I also believe August 9th he will still be a Real Madrid player, I honestly believe once the youngster from Fulham signs that will be it for this window.

4.) 12 Jul 2019 10:09:21
hahaha nice one southern red.
had an image of waterways oceans jam-packed with plastic junk. morally not a comparison, but they're a bit like the transfer rumours at the moment.!

5.) 12 Jul 2019 10:52:35
Rather have woodburn.

6.) 12 Jul 2019 11:14:39
Not going to happen.
And Shaqiri is going nowhere.

7.) 12 Jul 2019 11:32:44
Asensio has done nothing of note to warrant the fee Madrid want for him. There are far better options around at less than that who actually score goals and actually create goals. Two things Asensio doesn’t appear capable of doing.

8.) 12 Jul 2019 13:05:08
If Asensio is not good enough for Real Madrid, then I do not think he will be good enough for Liverpool FC.

9.) 12 Jul 2019 19:11:32
Whilst I doubt this will happen, kit, by your same logic, Coutinho wasn’t good enough for us?!

10.) 12 Jul 2019 19:22:11
That's right Zeddicus. He isn't.

11.) 12 Jul 2019 20:07:04
He was when he arrived, Epic. I agree he would imbalance our team now, but we picked up someone who wasn’t getting regular game time at Milan for £8m and turned him into a £120m+ player.

So just because someone can’t get into another bit teams’s starting lineup, doesn’t mean he won’t excel at Liverpool.

12.) 12 Jul 2019 20:28:12
Problem is Zeddicus that Madrid want over £70m for him. For that money you expect someone who actually performs. £7m, no brainer. £70m, nah. You keep him.

13.) 13 Jul 2019 07:56:34
That’s a fair point 6Times. I wasn’t saying Asensio will happen, or that I want it to.

My point is only that whether or not a player is a starter for another team has absolutely no bearing on how he will perform for us.

If Klopp and the team think he can get us from 2nd to 1st, that’s good enough for me.

We are going to win the league. It so exciting. I hope people understand just what a monumental achievement this is.

30 years.

Think back to the last game of last season. Brighton scored and the table showed Liverpool as champions, that feeling was euphoric. It lasted 5 minutes.

In 9 games that feeling will last an entire year. The parade, piss ups, family occasions and 80 year olds who never thought they would see the day again.

Then you have the KING in the stands crying with all the greats watching that boy from sunderland - the fraud, sideways passing, not fit to captain liverpool 16 million pound flop - lift the title high above his head. King Kennys final gift. We bought him the day my first son was born, I left the maternity ward to buy a paper and there he was on the back pages.

I have waited 20 years myself for this. Been there through every up and down. Every heartbreak and slip.

This is OUR moment. Its coming home boys.

Yeah, it sucks right now cos I honestly believe we're good enough to have won even more.

Elite sport can be fine margins, it just wasn't to be tonight. We won the competition last season, we can't win it every season. We fly the flag in this country in European competition an what we've done under klopp in Europe has been pretty fantastic.

We'll win the 2 biggest prizes in football in 2 seasons. Klopp has put Liverpool well and truly back on the map to where I feel disappointed when we don't win every competition! Prior to him I'd be happy if we could sneak a league cup for some silverware 😂

Let's finish this season strong, celebrate and party. Then we go again, and there's no doubt in my mind we'll be challenging for the league and in the last 16 of Europe once more 👊.

2.) 12 Mar 2020 03:58:54
What a post Brick-Top. I can't wait for that day. Again, great post!

3.) 12 Mar 2020 06:28:03
Klopp is a legend. We need to win as much as we can whilst he is our manager to make the most of this period. Next 3-5 years we need to give him whatever he needs to win us more trophy’s. Back on the perch.

4.) 12 Mar 2020 08:08:21
Just hope the government do not cancel all football matches because of coronavirus. Be typical Liverpool that, be two games away from winning the leauge a have the season voided because of a non football issue.

5.) 12 Mar 2020 09:17:53
They won't cancel the league, Kim and top post brick!

6.) 12 Mar 2020 12:27:03
See, these are the types of threads I love after a painful loss. Top post, OP and TheUnbearablereds. Under Klopp, we have had the time of our lives in Europe CL/ EL. We have conquered Europe at the highest level in the CL and have been the best team in Europe since 2017.

We have partied all over the continent, punching the lights out of the biggest teams (PSG, Bayern, Barca, City, etc) and only Real Madrid escaped our clutches BUT not for long. We lost a tough one and even Simeone would agree that they got out of jail cos after their first goal, even he did not celebrate cos he knew what could be coming. Sadly, it never came.

We are going to win the PL (at a stroll) for the first time in 30 years, Corona Virus or not. People think we are only "just" going to win the PL. So the haters and other deluded LFC fans mean to tell me that, us winning that thing we haven't won in 30 years (for which we have been mocked consistently for not doing) is now suddenly "just" a thing? The season is now and anti-climax? Sorry, you are all alone on that Island, my friends.

We are going to party like no tomorrow when the PL trophy (along with the CWC and Super Cup) parades the streets of Liverpool. You think the CL parade was nuts? This will b pandemonium. Up Da Pool!

7.) 12 Mar 2020 14:35:08
Not a chance they would void the league. Worst case will be table as is and/ or play offs for Europe/ Relegation.

The FA aren’t stupid enough to risk the uproar if they denied the league to a team so far ahead.

Orite ed. Here's a question that might be of interest to others.

What on earth was the issue with Markovic. Was he so terribly bad?

Just been looking into him and he is without a club. Then I was thinking of athletico signing felix for 125 million, and us getting markovic for 20 million. Madness how is went so wrong for us and him.

Even Klopp - the maestro with the kids, couldn't even give him a game.

Brick-Top

{Ed001's Note - how was it madness? He wasn't very good that is all there was to it. The scouts failed.}

1.) 13 Aug 2019 05:15:19
Biggest waste of money I’ve ever seen from Liverpool.
I remember when he first signed I watched a YouTube video of his skills and goals. It was the most unimpressive and underwhelming video I’ve ever seen. I knew then we had signed a dud.

2.) 13 Aug 2019 07:03:11
We have signed a few duds in our time to be fair. Hopefully not so many these days.

3.) 13 Aug 2019 08:03:24
Alberto Aqualani anyone? May have cost less, but when you consider he was seen as the heir to Alonso, he was a major let down.

4.) 13 Aug 2019 10:09:44
OP, Marko was never good enuff for us and even Chelsea who had first dibbs on him, walked away. BR was warned not to take him at the time, as Ed02 mentioned BUT he did it anyway and yet we are all shocked that he was a poor buy and a complete waste of funds. We should have let him go 3 years ago, IMO.

Do we hold any interest in Saul Nigues?

What a beast. Haven't watched him in a while, so have been the YouTube rounds.

Atheltico won't sell I don't think now, but you never know.

Brick-Top

1.) 05 Jul 2019 21:49:59
No we don’t Brick-top, Utd do though.

2.) 05 Jul 2019 22:48:15
Only in the sense that Klopp is understandably an admirer. Great player but he'd cost an absolute fortune and plays in our most stacked position (Wijnaldum, Henderson, Milner, Keita, the Ox) no chance of anything happening.

3.) 06 Jul 2019 08:46:35
I would take Saul in a heart-beat. He is a brilliant footballer. I recall that we had some interest in him when he was on loan at Rayo Vallecano under BR tho I may be wrong. Great player BUT would cost quite a few bricks.

Always sign players better than what you have and if you can't, don't.

Carlos coming in gives us Gomez and Matip as back up. Lovren can move on. We are even stronger. There is no time for sentiment. That is where it all goes wrong.

We are going to have a lot of title winners in this team and we can't let that dictate us in the transfer market.

People come and go, having the best possible players is how we get another league title. Doesn't matter who needs to be sold or replaced.

Personal character assassinations shouldn't be used to talk about the facts of his tenure.

If I ask did he play a part in this moment we are in now? an answer is not "well he cheated on his wife so no".

He gave TAA his debut. Signed Lovren, Gomez, Milner, Firmino, Lallana, Origiiiiiiiii, ( and didn't sell Henderson, by fluke) - who apart from Lovren could all start today. In my opinion he has played a part in our club just not in the performances, but the management of it. His tenure was riddled with mistakes in recruit mainely and I believe it massively educated our board and upper echelons of staff. They put in contingencies on the back of that - or stood true to their original thinking - which has allowed us to dominate the transfer market and put us about 3 years away from a bad signing.

BR remained in complete control against the wishes of the board, that was something they wouldn't let happen again. Its a democracy in signings now. If the manager wants then he is trusted but how many times have we heard Ed002 say "Klopp wanted x but he was pursuaded to get Y" - This is how they wanted the club from day dot, they went against that with BR. Remember the famed transfer committee, when did we last hear that mentioned? Although it still exists and is thriving - over to you Minaminoooo

Not claiming he played any part in our current performing dominance. Just highlighting actual facts for a logical response to the OP.

I was referring to investment in their defence. The one that we tore open last season. It is no better.

invested well?

Saliba back out on loan. Tierney out until October with a knee injury.

David Luiz to replace Koscienly?

We will tear them a new one as we always do. They will score though, it really will be the midfields were the game is won.

The defence wasn't protected at all. They were to deep, attackers to high which left Milner, Hendo and Fab with too much space to try and cover. The gaps where the issue.

Big difference this year, seems to be we are not playing as reserved and compact. We are much more attacking which brings its own problems of being too open. Add to the situation that the defence has lost Alison, which is having an effect on the whole team. Build up from the back, confidence to play a high line and security that the gk is always an option.
