Not that I think there's any way back for Núñez, but just food for thought, maybe his biggest problem is us trying to shoehorn him in to the wrong position.
Stats from Transfermarkt
Final Season with Benfica - 21/22
CF - 22 Goals in 34 Appearances - 0.65 goals per game
LW - 12 in 7 - 1.71
22/23
CF - 8 in 26 - 0.31
LW - 7 in 16 - 0.43
23/24
CF - 16 in 49 - 0.33
LW - 2 in 5 - 0.4
Obviously he has been dreadful this year but i can't help but think he just isn't a CF that can help to break through a low block, he will go somehere next year where he will be fed passes in behind the defense and he will bang every week. I don't think he is a bad player, he just doesn't fit our system and/or we aren't utilising him correctly
Just as a frame of reference, Gakpo in what many would class as a successful year this year has 18 in 42 from the left - 0.43 goals per game

The wrong position and we created the wrong sort of chances for him in games with the wrong sort of linesmen.
There is a player in there.
2.) 30 May 2025 20:07:09
No mate he’s just sh**e!
3.) 30 May 2025 20:13:03
It was said on here Origi would go somewhere else and score 20 league goals a season. I think he’s scored 4 in 4 years.
The fact we might possibly get 60 mill plus for the Premier leagues 65th joint top scorer this season will go down as great business.
The problem is the fact we spent about 70-80 million on him as well as another 20 mill on wages will go down as bad business.
But we’ll always have the memories of the chaos he created.

He was okay last season. Got a goal or assist every 100-110 minutes or so. Not exactly peak Ian Rush, but decent. But he never really got going this season and then he gave up.
Whether he gets his act together somewhere else, who knows, but he's not going to do it here. Nice guy, nit good enough.
5.) 30 May 2025 23:13:17
Let's face it, as I've said many times, pound for pound he's our worst ever signing.
6.) 30 May 2025 23:36:44
He isn’t bad, he just isn’t very good. In an ‘average’ league, where and whatever that might be he would flourish.

Nunez isn’t a patch on the Everton Killer…. Origi scored some big goals for us, Everton at home, Newcastle away, Barcelona semi final, spurs final 2019 plus several other goals against the blues… Nunez just looks lost this season.
8.) 31 May 2025 01:10:03
Nunez is an emotional person and plays with heart, desire, passion etc
He needs to be in an environment where he can feed off that energy at every level. Don’t think he’ll get that with Slot ball.
Definitely time to move on.
The only hope I hold is if Darwin makes an internal change to his mentality and approach. If he does that and moulds him game then who knows. Wirtz could unlock him.

I agree, Faith. Nunez talent-wise is very good and has near all the tools physically to be a top CF. The issue is what is in his head. When his confidence goes, he is a lost cause and to the point that even a 5 yard pass becomes a prob. The longer that lingers, the worst it gets. However, I think his time has passed at LFC, at least.
Like you say, his mentality has to change moving forward. He has to get tougher in his head and his mind to weather these lapses of confidence when they come. Darwin has to stop doubting himself all the time cos he can do a lot of things and add has a lot in his game overall. The the misses just gets into his head too much and that's on him.

That season at Benfica looks like an anamoly.
The season before he scored 6 from 29 games.
I love him and I think his link up play is superb but he’s seriously regressed this season and has even lost his giving 200%.
Really gutted he hasn’t worked out.
11.) 31 May 2025 10:56:23
His link up play is awful.
He has the lowest pass completion of any of the forwards. He regularly passes into touch and for goal kicks.
Bobbys link up play was superb there’s a significant difference.

Pretty sure we all agree that the best rumours come from SlotworkOranje.

If Akira never said we would definitely sign him then why call him out, mans just providing info and rumours, same as everybody else.

Sorry pressed send because my page scrolled
Martinez and Isaks injury history is littered with Groin, Thigh and Hamstring problems.
18 Jun 2025 03:18:32
Alvarez has been unavailable for 1 game in the last decade through illness, Martinez and I.

Could also be why another user here suggested we were looking at a lad at Cruzeiro, Kaiki Bruno.

Classy gesture from the club.

You could offer a contract where the wages in the final year are dramatically decreased. Therefore incentivising the player to renew or move clubs before entering their final year.

Couldnt care less if England win or Lose nowadays, i just cross my fingers all our players come back in one piece.

I'll be shocked if he doesn't get 25 G/ A but let's be honest, all we care about is the eye test. Does he look good and is he affecting games, does he press well, can he maintain a level for 90 mins etc
Rival fans will be making noise if he doesn't get 15+ in both columns though i'm sure.
