Who said anything about being prolific from midfield ed025, if he can create chances and space for others to score and get say 10 goals, wouldn’t that be a good return for a midfielder, he is still a talented player and a better use of him as he clearly not a 20 a season CF, surely would benefit Liverpool, if he went Everton he would be a world beater haha.

{Ed025's Note - but we have tom davies CTR.. :)

Ed’s, do you think dropping firmino into midfield would be a good idea, technically he is very good, works hard and can find space in CM to pass a ball, save us some money and could have a midfielder that scores to keep most on here happy.

{Ed025's Note - he cant score at centre forward CTR so why do you think he will suddenly become prolific in midfield mate?...cant see it myself..

But without Bobby Mane and Salah wouldn't work as good, Bobby is the one who makes the space for them to score a bagful.

2.) 27 Jul 2021 15:54:03
I think am is his best position going forward. I prefer one of the other forwards in front of goal, his confidence is shot to bits.

3.) 27 Jul 2021 16:20:16
He played a bit deeper towards the end of the season and was playing a lot better as a result. He looks like more of a goal threat coming into the box late than he does trying to play half as a goalscorer and half as a link player. I’d rather make the most of his abilities in a deeper role when possible now.

Bobby will back to his best this season.

5.) 27 Jul 2021 17:14:07
I found jota last season played great an the CF position, or the middle of the three.
Would like to see him through the middle not out wide.

6.) 27 Jul 2021 17:16:29
Bobby unfortunately hasn’t been at his best since 2017/ 18 so it’s a big ask for him to get back to near that level.

7.) 27 Jul 2021 17:55:59
Mighty red all three of them played last year and other than odd moments Bobby didn’t do anything to facilitate the other two. He’s lost his pressing game and his ability to link play floundered unlike prior seasons. He’s on borrowed time for me.

I agree with with AW, when firmino played in a AM role, he played much better than as a central attacker, if anything we need a central attacker like Fowler at the moment, Ed’s have mentioned before that scoring seemed to be more our main problem last season, from AM firmino could with his movement get between defence and midfield, causing teams that park the bus come out of position and give us the space to do damage.

9.) 27 Jul 2021 18:37:03
Surely mighty reds is trolling with that comment?

10.) 27 Jul 2021 18:50:19
The Bobby helps Sadio and Mo to score argument is fine when they score. When they don’t Jota is a way better finisher and should be used.

11.) 27 Jul 2021 19:51:54
The Bobby glue crap was an absolute nonsense. Salah and Mane are just great players end off.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mark..

12.) 27 Jul 2021 20:41:21
Mark, maybe you should go and listen to the way Salah and Mane speak about Bobbie and how they rate and love him for making them the prolific scorers they are today, often handing them chances on a plate and taking the heat off them, before mouthing off. Also, that whole “Bobbie us the glue of the system”? Contrary to what you think you know, Klopp said so repeatedly over the years. I guess you know more than he does.

As for his best position, AW has it spot on. Bobbie plays well when the link up play and press is better cos that allows more players to be around him where he can facilitate. When the press is poor or non existent, he drops may too deep and he is stifled. Hopefully he can come back stronger after a nice long rest.

{Ed025's Note - thank you bobbys agent.. :)

I think this whole 'bobby can play midfield' debate is a bit misguided. Here is my analogy - I have just done a first aid course so I can apply first aid and possibly save your life on the side of the road. But I won't be picking up a scalpel anytime soon!

Bobby has skills and a playing style that enables him to apply the #9 role in a way that helps the system function. If you put him in as a starting midfield then you are asking him to prioritize a bunch of skills and playing style that isn't his natural game. I am sure he could do it for a period. But like Fabinho deputizing as a CB for weeks, it reached its shelf life and he needed to be restored to his primary position.

The only way I'd see it happening is if we changed the system and had 2 sitting CMs behind him and he basically played a #10. but we very rarely do that, so just don't see it happening.
