Hi Ed002,

Could you possibly give us an update on our summer transfer targets as things currently stand? I imagine the new coach / DoF will have some effect so things might change, but am interested in who we're currently looking at now that Klopp is going (e. g maybe we're not interested in Sane anymore as you suggested that was largely a Klopp idea? ) .

Cheers Ed.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - There will be no real change in the players being looked at until the new folks are in place. Sane was indeed a Klopp pick and perhaps you will see the emergance of Petro Neto as an alternative - assuming of course that Salah leaves.}

1.) 11 Mar 2024 13:00:34
Neto and Sane would both be bad choices for different reasons, Neto has serious injury problems and his end product is not particularly impressive (being generous) and Sane is too old, has a poor attitude, is inconsistent (which is not a good look at his age) and he has already rejected us on more than one occasion.

2.) 11 Mar 2024 15:32:16
Neto has a recurring knee problem according to club sources.

3.) 11 Mar 2024 19:37:18
Neto brilliant player but injury prone.

Hi Eds,

Any chance of a loan move for Bobby Clark or any other u21s this window?

Cheers.

DK97

{Ed025's Note - i cant see Bobby going on loan myself DK, he is on the fringes of the first team mate but i can see a couple of the lesser lights maybe..

Hi Ed002, a few rumours floating about that we've been scouting Mats Wieffer quite heavily this season - do you know of any interest?

Cheers.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - Mats Wieffer (DM) Seen as an option to replace Tonali at Milan. Lazio have enquired but have some further trimming to do first.}

Hi Ed002.

Wondering if you have any insight into our DoF situation at the moment?

Cheers.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - Jorg Schmadtke will remain in the role this season or move to an advisory role if another appointment is made - and I am not aware of any progress on that at this time but they will be aware of the availability of the likes of Christopher Vivell.}

1.) 30 Sep 2023 11:53:11
Ed02 who recommended szobo to be signed? schmadtke?

{Ed002's Note - Sven Dworaczek made the original recommendation I understand and Jorg Schmadtke met with his agent.}

2.) 30 Sep 2023 12:10:34
Well thank you Sven Dworackek. We love szobo already!

3.) 30 Sep 2023 21:06:33
Always loved sven?now who is he?.

Max Eberl has been released from his RBL contract, with rumours that he's joining the board at Bayern.

If it happens, it means Bayern Munich will have recruited both FC Red Bull Salzburg and RB Leipzig Sporting Directors.

Presume Max Eberl out of the question for Liverpool, Ed?

I don't see us offering a board position to a sporting director with Klopp in seat, do you?

{Ed002's Note - Max Eberl is heading elsewhere and Liverpool have shown no interest.}

5.) 01 Oct 2023 13:30:39
Cheers.

6.) 01 Oct 2023 14:27:35
The real question is can he officiate the match properly ?.

7.) 03 Oct 2023 05:02:16
Ed002, who do you think is suitable candidate for that DOF? Are the likes of Paul Mitchell and Christopher Vivell are being considered?

{Ed002's Note - I don't know who Schmadtke will be proposing as an option but right now it is unclear how they will be moving forward with recent interference from one of the Directors in the transfer process - any candidate would want that resolved. However, Vivell (ex-RBL and Chelsea) would be an excellent option for Liverpool. Right now, Paul Mitchell seems an umlikely option for Liverpool due to interest from elsewhere. Others who might be considered would be Markus Krösche (Eintracht Frankfurt) who was previously wanted by Liverpool but rejected the offer. Tiago Pinto (Roma) may become available. Rui Pedro Braz (Benfica) would be an excellent option but another club are planning an approach for him.}

8.) 03 Oct 2023 13:22:54
Liver he is a scout, was a Liverpool youth scout back in the day then left us and went to Chelsea and then left Chelsea and came back to us.

9.) 09 Oct 2023 21:37:10
Is it true that Julian Ward was back in some capacity as reported late in the window by various outlets. Could it be Wards leave was temporary and a return to his old post on the cards?

AD Sport in the Netherlands reporting that we're close to agreeing a deal for Amrabat. They're supposedly reliable.

I know Ed002 had previously mentioned that Klopp had blown up a deal in January for him.

Any change that you're aware of Ed?

DK97

{Ed002's Note - As I have explained thereis interest but some patching up to do.}

1.) 16 Aug 2023 19:59:16
Puncture repair kit on standby.

2.) 16 Aug 2023 20:00:25
Interested in others thoughts on Amrabat. He had a good tournament at international level but does anyone think he would be a risk at club level in the premier league.

3.) 16 Aug 2023 20:09:17
Sky Sports are now also reporting that we’ve contacted Fiorentina regarding Ambrabat. Would be interested to get the Eds’ take on him as a DM option for Liverpool. I’ve only ever seen him for Morocco at the World Cup.

4.) 16 Aug 2023 20:18:15
Can’t wait to see VV get his teeth into this one haha

In all seriousness though, I am not enamoured by him either and I think we can do better.

We could have signed him back in January, messed it up (as per Ed2), when we desperately needed a CM (fair enough if we didn’t rate him) but are now going to sign him 6 months later after we already missed out on CL?

Would appear to be a desperation signing if true.

5.) 16 Aug 2023 20:06:59
Hi Ed, is the patching up to do with the player, his agents or his club? Are you willing to shed any light on what we did wrong? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Sofyan Amrabat (DM/CM) Fiorentina were expecting to lose money on a sale but an excellent World Cup has changed that. Spurs contacted Fiorentina through a third party to take him as an Ndombele replacement in the summer, and Liverpool, Barcelona and Nice have had scouts watch him and have spoken with his representatives, but seemingly not Fiorentina yet. His repressentatives walked out on a discussion with Liverpool due to something Klopp said in January and if they wish to revive interest they will need to resolve that, which seems unlikely and the player has made it clear he has no interest in joining Liverpool now. Fiorentina reported Barcelona for making a direct approach to Amrabat in January but they have patched things up and something may be possible, albeit unlikely. Agent has spoken with Arsenal and Chelsea as well. The player says he wants to move to Manchester United, Barcelona or Atletico Madrid and I understand that Atletico Madrid are keen to strike a deal but expect Manchester United to make an offer. Barcelona would be open to a deal but this summer looks to be a problem. Napoli consider him an option to replace SMS. West Ham give an unlikely option. A whatif answer may be PSG if they appoint Mr Mourinho as their new coach - but that never happened. A wildcard option will be Inter Milan who are looking to replace Brozovic and will guarantee a starting place for him. Al-Ahli will offer an option. Manchester United offer a serious option and I expect a transfer can be completed but they will need to pay more than they want to.}

6.) 16 Aug 2023 20:17:53
Ed02, please don't tell me Klopp tapped him up, as well?

{Ed002's Note - Done to death.}

7.) 16 Aug 2023 20:22:59
Better option than having nobody.

8.) 16 Aug 2023 20:27:20
I’ve seen him at the wc and the final versus West Ham. I think he’s a passion merchant. Can raise his game for big moments, I’m not sure he’s a patient player who can be disciplined and spring into life once we lose the ball. Probably better than no one, but I get the sense he’s either right on the edge, or not up for it enough.

9.) 16 Aug 2023 20:38:42
I reckon he could do a job for us redlad. There are a few DM’s out there that some would say are better but given the current market and the shenanigans of the last few days I for one wouldn’t be disappointed.

10.) 16 Aug 2023 20:44:14
Apparently we have made contact with Stuttgart over 30-year-old Japan international defensive midfielder Wataru Endo…….

11.) 16 Aug 2023 21:38:15
Let’s hope the Doucoure rumors are true then ?.

Completely random rumour for today but apparently ourselves and Burnley are interested in Dan Neil from Sunderland?

I guess that narrows it down to Amorim, Nagelsmann and De Zerbi. Amorim would be my top choice out of those.

Ed002 do you know if his release clause is still €20m? I think I’ve read it has lowered since last summer but I might be incorrect on that.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - €20M termination clause and the cost of terminating his staff.}

What about Harvey Davies Ed002? Seems to be doing alright at Crewe.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool.}

David Ornstein released an article an hour ago that FSG want Edwards to be “Football Chief Executive Officer” overseeing all football operations at the club, and possibly doing away with the DoF role.

Would be interesting to see if that develops.

Is Paul Mitchell back under consideration Ed002? Reports are that he’s not an option for United anymore.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - Not for Liverpool.}

Sane the preferred target I think you have said, Ed002. Personally think we should be looking for someone more 25 and under - Sane will be 28 in Jan. His game is heavily paced reliant as well and that’ll probably start fading in a couple of years. I’d rather go for someone like Mbuemo, 24, good performer at a smaller team, someone who can make the next step when they move to us, like Mane and Firmino did.

DK97

{Ed002's Note - Indeed and as I have explained there are far better options out there but Klopp wants Sane.}

If Quansah can find an extra yard of pace he’ll be class. We still probably need another CB in the summer with Matip leaving and Konate injury prone though. I’d sign a young left footed CB, and a young attacking left back to hopefully take over from Robertson / Gomez in a few years, Tsimikas should be sold.

Will then have a defence of:
CBs - Virg, Konate, New CB, Quansah, Gomez
RBs - Bradley, Trent, Gomez
LBs - Robbo, Gomez, New LB

Good cover there with Gomez being able to play everywhere. Would be interesting to see if Chambers / Beck could take up the young LB role in pre season.

Manu Kone is presumably still available and I think has recovered from his injury he got in the U21 Euros. He’d still be a good option if we can’t get Caicedo or Lavia.
