Is Ojo set for a loan move before the window closes? Or is he set to remain at the club to try force his way into the first team picture?
Thanks.

Can anyone work out the criteria for this list?

2.) 25 Aug 2023 01:11:31
@Firmane, it's supposed to be a reply from a thread below this.

The criteria is:

1) most treasured moment as an LFC fan?

2) favourite LFC player that you have seen ply his trade live (I appreciate the generation gaps here)?

3) favourite LFC player ever regardless of having seen on the Green surface in flesh?

4) favourite player seen ply trade but not pulled on an LFC jersey? (I. e. you'd have liked him at Anfield)

5) favourite not seen not red?

6) 5 sporting role models? (Any sport)

3.) 25 Aug 2023 02:03:07
Favorite things in football?

Personally only believe we will sign a versatile midfield player such a Gravenberch now for the rest of this window.

How does everyone feel we sit with the squad we have atleast until January? Are people comfortable with no defensive changes if that is the case? On that note, do any of the ed's know if the trend of letting players leave the club on frees is down to Klopps loyalty or the lack of forward planning from those above?

Dirty Kuyt

1.) 23 Aug 2023 15:02:48
I don’t think we will sign anyone else now Dirty Kuyt I think we have our lot mate. Jones Elliot and Baj are going to have to play lots of games this season.

2.) 23 Aug 2023 15:03:21
Top 4 hopefuls at best.

The question is, who are we waiting for in the coming windows? Other than Andre Trindade, who else is on the unicorn waitlist?

3.) 23 Aug 2023 15:10:24
What we do in the remainder of the transfer window will determine whether we're entering a rat race for a top 4 spot or gearing up to conquer on all fronts.

May sound like the Wenger era Arsenal fans, top 4 is not good enough for a team with the quality we have and the best manager in the world.

VVD, Salah, Konate, Alisson, Trent, Robertson, Szoboszlai, Diaz, Jota, Thiago, Mac Allister – that’s a group of players up there with any in the league. It’s almost as if we’ve forgotten how good we are. We’re a signing or two away from being up there with the very best in Europe.

We shouldn’t need to settle. Life always makes you think you have more time than you actually do. By the time we know it, many of those players will be on the wane, our manager will have a year left on his contract, and we’re talking about another rebuilding stage once again.

4.) 23 Aug 2023 15:26:53
Very well said, Red Bird

Post of the day.

5.) 23 Aug 2023 15:33:47
We’re likely done. Another window that had some promising moments is now gearing for a top four scramble. You can forget titles, not happening. If Thiago can get fit and then stay fit I think he can bring some much needed quality in the deep lying role.

6.) 23 Aug 2023 15:43:18
What’s so special about January ????. A CDM that you couldn’t find in three months today won’t miraculously pops up in January. Sale midway through the season happens rarely.

7.) 23 Aug 2023 15:48:04
Fully agree again Red bird. When we sign Szobozlai and Mac Allaister I was thinking here we go. Refresh incoming. Title challenge back on.

2 amazing transfers done early in the window.

I'm ok with Endo. Perfect squad addition particular as experience was badly needed and he fills a whole range of positions while looking quite a capable player. Perfect Hendo/ Milner replacement.

But if that truly is it or we buy some of these players being linked then I consider the window not a complete shambles but a massive gigantic missed opportunity. Next year we might have to replace Salah and still buy a DM and CB. We will get further and further away. Do the work that is obvious now so we are only buying Salah replacement next year and not trying to do other stuff as well.

I'm with you though and certainly not settling for less. We need to get the deals done this week. I'm not accepting a very exciting signing not getting done on the last day which is where I see this window going.

8.) 23 Aug 2023 15:55:37
Lucky to make top 4. Need more quality. Poor window too looking at it as the big rebuild.

9.) 23 Aug 2023 16:04:54
Not good enough. 3rd at best. Look at how many highly thought of players were available in positions we need and we brought in none of them. Bellingham Rice Caicedo Lavia Tonali Ugarte were all available in midfield. Gvardiol, Lukeba, Timber, Kim Min Jae, Torres, van De Ven, Sutalo at centre back. In 12 months time we’re going to need another 5 because we’re leaving ourselves short on purpose again.

10.) 23 Aug 2023 16:11:59
Harry, because Andre is available in Jan. Have you not read the site over the last 2-3 weeks? Are you just posting without reading? You really should stop that as it makes you look a bit daft.

Andre seems to be the one that Klopp/ we want.

Seems to be the sort of deal that everyone is clamouring for us to make - "why can't we be more like Brighton and find the Caicedos of the world at £20m before they play in the PL and then be worth 5 times that? ". Well Andre at £20m (give or take - this is reportedly the price that Fluminese would accept in Jan, plus we have to add on what the remaining 20% owners want) seems to be that sort of player.

11.) 23 Aug 2023 16:23:24
We look in good shape in the forwards with Diaz, Gakpo, Jota, Nunez and Salah, and Doak a dangerous looking youngster coming through. A couple of our midfield can also double as forwards at a push (Szobo and Elliott) .

Midfield is young and needs to gel, but is not as bad as everyone seems to think. MacAllister, Szoboszlai, Thiago, Endo, Jones are all very good experienced players and Elliott and Bajcetic are young, talented, and ready to push on. I think we’re clearly light at CDM but Endo might surprise us yet, and even if he struggles we have other options if we adapt our shape. Also don’t forget Trent is capable of playing midfield too and is top class as an 8. I would still love to see 1 more CDM come in though to be really confident (Doucoure or worst case Andre in Jan) .

Defenders - Robbo and Kostas at LB I’m happy with. Likewise Trent and Bradley. VVD and Konate are a great starting CB pairing, so my only concern is Matip (injuries), Gomez (form) and Philips (pace) but they’re still all very capable backups on their day and Endo can play there too in a pinch.

Allison and Kelleher are both excellent.

Maybe I’ve got rose tinted glasses, but apart from the manageable risks we’re taking with Endo at CDM, and our backup CBs, I actually think we’re in much better shape than last year when our aging midfield was a clear and obvious problem.

I think so long as we get the tactics right (not something I’m thrilled about so far with Gakpo in midfield! ) I can see this squad as very capable of getting top4 and with a chance of challenging for the title if either Endo or Macca turn out to be capable no.6’s.

Have faith!

12.) 23 Aug 2023 16:41:27
Sg midfield isn’t as good as u think either!
Thiago injury prone
Jones wouldn’t get a start in the top 15 teams
Elliot isn’t a winger
Leaves = sobo looks good
Mac = good player
Endo= we don’t know much
Baj = Great prospect but young had a bad injury!

Midfield is too thin!

Forwards is fine plenty there .

Defence!
Vvd might be coming back to himself
Konate great potential
Matip injury prone getting on a bit
Gomez championship level
Robbo still a player
Tami can do a job but needs a run of games
Trent can’t defend

Just my view.

13.) 23 Aug 2023 17:36:43
Jones wouldn’t get in the top 15 midfields? Honest to god…

That lad did very well end of last season and had a good u21 euros. Not sure what he has do to prove to people that he deserves a place in the squad.

I don’t really get the “scrape top four” stuff.

We have a front five that rivals if not beats anyone in the league. We also have the best keeper.

Our problem is currently tactics. If we tried to play football like we did to win the league we would be infinitely closer to winning it. Klopp needs to stop playing silly buggers and go back to what he knows best and ultimately what suits his team best. I would happily argue the team we have now is potentially far more dangerous at full throttle klopp football than they one that won the league.

14.) 23 Aug 2023 17:38:16
I see and hear everyone going on and on about the midfield. Where ahs the clamour for a new CB gone, then? I think we need another mid and a CB to come in and I think we should be good to go.

15.) 23 Aug 2023 18:47:47
Harry. Even if your football knowedge may not be extensive (I know you think otherwise), one would think that you would have learnt enough things, from here by now, since you've been on here since easily 12-13 years minumum. So why do you persist in writing nonsense like "Sale midway through the season happens rarely". I can't believe that even you believe some of the stuff you write.

Do you need me to go through the extensive number of purchases that have happened in January for LFC?

Why don't I make it easy for you and just mention 2 recent examples from your second favorite team (Chelsea of course, ManCity is your first)? Enzo Fernandez was bought in January 2023. Christopher Nkunku's purchase was finalized in January 2023 for it to be executed this summer. And these are not minor transfers either. They're the kind you love and which make you cream your pants over.

16.) 23 Aug 2023 18:36:42
Don’t worry about Baj’s injury.

Jones has had his progress stunted and some responsibility lies with the team selection. Players of his age need first team minutes to push on.
We all feel Klopp was a bit too loyal to some ageing midfielders and no doubt Jones’ opportunities were reduced.

He got a run in the team out of necessity last season and for me he was a big part of our end of season form.

I’m not writing him off, he can be a late bloomer.

Baj? He’s going to be a legend. All the top teams in the world will be knocking on his door.

17.) 23 Aug 2023 18:44:43
Agree olired. mid and cb definitely needed for me. However don't think it will happen. Onekiss agree completely mate. Jay very harsh on Jones that mate, however he isn't able to stay fit to get a decent run. Young cb and decent midfielder needed 100%.

18.) 23 Aug 2023 19:55:06
I think we could be done in the market. I'd prefer if we weren't, but it's the way it looks.

There doesn't seem to have been a whole lot of effort to buy a center back, so it's obvious that Klopp has faith in Matip and Gomez, and in Robbo as a left sided center back / occasional wing back. I think if we reverted to the tried and tested four, we'd be okay (not great), especially if van Dijk maintains his upturn in form. It's not ideal though and it still escapes me why we're keeping Phillips and why Klopp maintains faith in Matip and Gomez when we know we have the funding to replace at least one of them.

Midfield. Thiago will probably miss a third of the season injured. Jones hopefully is over his injuries and Szoboszlai, Mac Allister and Bajcetic all look like good players. I'm not entirely convinced by Elliot as a central midfielder, but he is only 20. Endo, heard good things and he looked okay on his debut. Again, it's not terrible. Broadly speaking the numbers are there, only one of them is a major injury concern and despite his injury problems he usually does play okay when he's fit. Unlike Naby or Ox. So we're in better shape than last season. But it could be better, and as above, there's money to invest.

My bigger worry is that Jurgen seems to be setting up to put as many attackers on the pitch as possible - Playing Gakpo in midfield whilst leaving a fit Jones, who had a good end to last season, on the bench, to accommodate Jota up top. I think along with the IWB (sorry to constantly go on about this) it's leaving us unbalanced.

19.) 23 Aug 2023 20:57:13
Habibi, YOU couldn't find? Not WE couldn't find?
Has your masked slipped a little, there?

20.) 23 Aug 2023 23:18:45
Rigsby by We, Harry acts like he's one of us whereas we all know he isn't. It's what he does. Pretty tedious to read for the most part, IMO.

21.) 23 Aug 2023 23:23:40
Stopped reading at Jones wouldn’t get a start in the top 15 teams Jay, total nonsense.

18 Jul 2018 12:23:03
If the Alisson transfer does happen go through. I hope certain corners of our illustrious clubs fan base can learn from the unfortunate treatment Karius has received. If mistakes should happen then we back our man and show support should his confidence ever become fractured. Nobody deserves some if the abuse Karius and his family have suffered. As fans of this club those who feel the need to do so should be called out.

Dirty Kuyt

1.) 18 Jul 2018 12:34:44
Karius will make an excellent number 2. Hopefully he’s up to the task.

2.) 18 Jul 2018 12:36:58
Listen go watch the final again.

After the 'concussion and his error he made a few good saves and distribution was fine.

Go and watch the Roma game and watch during the celebrations, Henderson rollicks him because he was rushing his throw outs when we needed to slow the game down and nearly gave a goal away.

Watch the Tranmere mistake, when fully backed with a full round of applause from his fans.

My concussion is that he just isn't good enougj. Poor concentration and JUDGEMENT on long shots and not calm enough in possession of the ball.

He even caused City s first goal in the second leg with a pass he shouldn't of made.

People Think goal keepers need to just be good with there feet, but they always forget that they need to judge the right pass aswel, and see that a player can't turn because of being marked etc.

I'm sorry but we didn't make him an average gk. He will get away with it lower down but when your at the very top of the game, matches can be decided by 1 moment. If hull played Madrid then it would of been probably 7 or 8 nill and his errors wouldn't of really mattered but the fact the game would of been 1-1 without his mistakes, makes it all the more worse.

I'm sorry for the lad but hope he realises he needs to move and to pick somewhere sensible. No big teams, especially whilst he is learning. Back to Germany and if he performs at leverkusen, I'm sure a move to Dortmund will well be on the cards. His time is over here but his career can still take a good path

I wish him nothing but the best but there is absolutely no room for sentiment if we want to reach the very top again. We have to become ruthless.

3.) 18 Jul 2018 12:41:54
Well said DK it was disgusting the abuse the poor lad got but I also feel that the abuse didn't come real genuine fan's.

4.) 18 Jul 2018 13:16:53
I agree completely no need for abuse and negativity, this guy Allison is great with feet and shot stopping my main worry is catching corners and dominating his area from what I seen in the world cup there not his strong attributes, if he signs I hope he can prove me wrong .

5.) 18 Jul 2018 13:43:43
I think another point to mention is, no matter how well he could perform everyone is still going to remember that night in Kiev and there will always be that thought of him potentially making a stupid error. There's no way of escaping that negativity in today's football world, be it from our fans or the opposing team. Personally I don't think he's mentally strong enough to regain his confidence and belief playing at a club like Liverpool where the pressure and expectations seems to be much higher than other leagues or smaller clubs.

I feel for the guy, I really do. I hope he can go somewhere else and prove to the world he is a good keeper, because there are signs of one in there.

Long time lurker, first time poster. With the on going issues we're currently having between the sticks, I'm interested to hear who people feel from past Liverpool teams would compliment our playing style the best?
For me it would be Pepe Reina. Although prone to his wild moments at times, I thought his distribution at his peak was simply superb.

On a side note, I know Ed001 likes to knock up the occasional boxing profile. If he's not already on the list, I think Pernell Whitaker deserves a shout. The greatest boxer in history in my personal opinion.

Dirty Kuyt

{Ed001's Note - thank you mate added him to the list as he wasn't on it.

I would go with Brucie I think, though Reina would be good too.}

1.) 11 Jul 2018 16:22:01
Welcome DK. Pernell Whitaker is a great shout mate.

2.) 11 Jul 2018 16:30:45
I would definitely go with Reina, but that's clouded by Brucie being right at the start of my Liverpool supporting journey and my memories of him being rather cloudy! From what I've seen of his character, I reckon him and Klopp would've been a match made in heaven!

Ed001, a bit leftfield for you, but would a Brad Freidel, as he became at Blackburn, be one you think would fit into our current style? I really rated him at Blackburn and regretted us not seeing THAT Friedel during his time with us.

{Ed001's Note - I don't remember him being good with the ball. Great shotstopper though.}

3.) 11 Jul 2018 17:03:26
Pepe Reina. Distribution was incredible. Watching him hit passes from 50 yards onto people’s chest in warm ups was my favourite nerve stopping hobby before a big game. Never missed.

Have you ever done Joe Calzaghe ed? Great record, although some would say it’s devalued by fighting boxers towards the end of their careers. Loved him as a boxer though. His determination to win. Saw him get up and turn it around quite a few times. Met him once.

Was in London, sitting outside a café, admiring the erm, view of a stunning figure. All of a sudden she clocks me and whispers something into her fella’s ear. I notice it’s Joe Calzaghe. I thought ‘great, here we go, of all the people. ’
He comes over, says ‘here, my missus reckons. ’ I’m about to run. ‘My missus reckons you look like that fella from N*sync! ’ I still, to this day, don’t know who she meant, but I assume like I did then, that it was Justin Timberlake. I said ‘you better be careful, she’ll get you beaten up talking like that, which is funny because you’re a dead ringer for Carl Froch. ’ He belly laughed and shook my hand, took a photo. Good guy.

4.) 11 Jul 2018 17:12:40
What a shot stopper though ed01. He became immense. Was clem no good at distribution and sweeping? I would still pick him. I wouldn't mind him just rolling the ball out yo dejan and virgil.

{Ed001's Note - he was not very good at all with his feet.}

5.) 11 Jul 2018 17:20:46
I didn't know that Ed. What has changed? Why is it do important to be good with your feet these days? Sorry if I sound dumb. Thanks for your reply.

{Ed001's Note - because you can't pick the ball up from a back pass now.}

6.) 11 Jul 2018 17:32:02
Oh, I am dumb. Sorry Ed, of course. Lol. Brilliant answer! Sometimes the answers can be a bit cryptic, especially with ed025. A bit philosophic even. Yours was bang on the head of the nail ed01. Thanks for taking the time to educate an old fool.

{Ed001's Note - that's ok, I am always happy to educate Ed025.}

I'd hope to see the lad get a good season run. Hopefully build up his reputation to come back and be an option should shaqiri not work out. Not writing Shaqiri off by any means, just see it as a good option for all parties involved.

Akira2, Gakpo and Szoboszlai are not Salah replacements at all. Would be a terrible idea to sell at this late point in the window. Recently signing the new deal makes me doubt Mo telling the club he wants to leave. Money does talk though and the obscene amounts Saudi are likely to offer I imagine can turn the firmest of heads. Fingers crossed Mo's commitment is as strong as ever though.
