Looks like the away goals rule has been confirmed as scrapped. Wonder what you're views are on this change?
I quite liked it, gave both teams something to think about and sure it lead to many a conundrum for managers.
Attack after a away draw or try to protect your narrow fragile lead? Risk trying to get an early goal to pile the pressure on your opponents?

Go all out in the final 10 minutes, looking for that away goal that would guarantee victory and risk losing it all?
I have no idea why they have decided to get rid to be honest, maybe they have a better option they can't wait to tell us about..

I think it's a calculated risk that they have decided to take. With the away goals rule, teams that managed to score away from home would often try to shut the game down, slow things down. Games were being "managed", based on what usually happened on the first tie. Without the rule, they're probably hoping that intensity levels will go up, now that only the final tally counts and nothing else. Less space for defensive tactics, protecting leads and whatnot. I don't know how they're going to manage all the draws though. And it's still a big risk to be taking.

Makes it equal in terms of if it goes to pens but I liked the drama. Would have the semi against Chelsea in 05 have been so exciting when I think Gudjohnsen have nearly equalised? But then again I absolutely love a penalty shoot out so I'm on the fence.

Gives a much greater advantage to second leg at home I would say.

I'm glad it's been scrapped. Ridiculous rule that should've been scrapped years ago. Why is a goal against a home team who are actually attacking worth more than a goal against an away team with 10 men behind the ball? It's never made sense. A goal is a goal.

People will say it discourages away teams from attacking, but they already don't 9 times out of 10. If anything it know gives more freedom to the home team to attack without worrying about conceding. How many teams play for a 0-0 or 1-0 in the home leg because they're scared of letting in away goals? It's a silly and negative rule.

It's also a huge advantage to the team away from home in the 2nd leg who potentially get an extra half an hour to score an away goal which leaves the home team needing to score 2 goals with limited time.

Good riddance.

I hope we practice penalties every day at the end of every session. I never want to go out of a cup on penalties.

For most of this silly season, I've probably spent more time on this site then actually watcing games! Just wanted the eds to know we appreciate all your hard work and all the posters for the banter.
Glad to have all the Eds back too. We've cracked top four, which by all accounts is a good result under the circumstances. Let's hope the next is a season to remember! YNWA!

{Ed033's Note - Thanks, but who cares about top four, the only thing anyone should be interested in is the Liverpool v Southampton game :)

For me it has to be the City game in 2018. The 15 or so minutes that we want on our scoring spree was absolutely electric!
Robertson's run from LB to RW was a moment that will live long in the memory. The crowd was fired up, the players were fired up.
Like a lot of the posters have mentioned on here, it just felt like there was something magical in the air.
It is definitely one of the nights that springs to mind when Anfield's atmosphere is mentioned.

My question is, would he have stayed with us if that incident never occurred? I'm sure there were other things that led to him being let go. Off the top of my head I remember him being sent home for being late during a pre-season tour. Was a fan of his though, loved his awkward style of play.
