Newcastle have pulled out of ekitike talks, looks likely we will be putting an offer in soon.

Ernest Millar

1.) 17 Jul 2025 10:54:00
Going for Wissa! lol what you reckon ed1? Good news or bad for us?

{Ed001's Note - them going for Wissa? Not sure how that would have any impact on a move for Ekitike as they want to buy two forwards.}

2.) 17 Jul 2025 11:16:49
Yoane Wissa always looks like he just been caught sniffing some undies. Has a look on his face like “it wasn’t what it looked liked, the was a wasp”.

3.) 17 Jul 2025 11:17:03
Hi ED001

What do you think of Ekitike?

{Ed001's Note - I try not to think of him.}

4.) 17 Jul 2025 11:42:49
Is he that bad.

{Ed001's Note - no, it just gets you in trouble with the missus thinking of other men...}

5.) 17 Jul 2025 12:36:45
LOL Cheered me up that comment.

29 Jun 2025 20:06:17
Pedro to Chelsea confirmed, could this be the start of the striker merry go round? Newcastle will have to make a move regardless after losing Wilson, could be an interesting week or two. Ekitike news seems to have quietened down I just wonder if he might end up in a Liverpool shirt after all.

Ernest Millar

1.) 29 Jun 2025 20:16:19
Maybe, but not sure what’s the next move that will be triggered. I’m sure Brighton will have someone lined up, but it won’t be one that Newcastle will be targeting I doubt.

Confused why he’d go Chelsea, they just bought delap and have Jackson (who I think gets some undue hate), so that’s 3 strikers between what 21 and 24? Along with all the others they have to get rid of.

2.) 29 Jun 2025 20:18:31
Stuie boy is correct that’s what I’m asking.

3.) 29 Jun 2025 20:35:27
I would think they will do what they can to keep isak with a bumper contract and who they go for is anyone's guess, puts that one to bed as far as we're concerned I reckon, I hope not but we'll see.
Chelsea seem to be carrying on with the young players on long contracts approach, they looked unbalanced last season maybe even more so now.

4.) 29 Jun 2025 20:43:28
I think Jackson will leave, probably outside of the premier league.

I don’t see the fuss about Pedro at all.

5.) 29 Jun 2025 22:28:25
Pedro is primarily a SS or AM. He only played CF when Welbeck was injured or rested. Pedro is better on the LW even, than he is at CF. There is absolutely no reason why he can’t play with Delap or Jackson. The tricky part in my opinion is how to play him and Palmer together. I think they’ll get in each other’s way. Also they both score about 50% of their goals from penalties so something has got to give there.

Once we signed Wirtz, our need for a player like Pedro vanished. We need a proper goal scorer now.

6.) 29 Jun 2025 22:54:19
Bad move for Pedro I think.

7.) 29 Jun 2025 23:51:16
I think money talks in the case of Pedro. Why go to Chelsea and wait for playing time, when Newcastle would give him a better opportunities
Doesn't make sense, but then again neither does Chelsea's transfer policy.

8.) 30 Jun 2025 00:06:36
Pedro replaces Nkunku and Felix as they will both be moved on. Delap and Jackson for the middle. Neto/ Madueke for RW then Pedro and George for lw.

9.) 30 Jun 2025 01:22:05
I can see Jackson playing as a 5.
He wants to play up top but Maresca has said I want you back.

Palmer will play in a midfield three with the Brazilian Emerson and another ex City player Paul Lake.

10.) 30 Jun 2025 03:36:50
The Chelsea fans will dub Palmer the barbarian then, rigsby!

11.) 30 Jun 2025 09:30:25
I think we can probably gauge the age of site users by those who ‘got’ Rigsby’s post and those who didn’t. I’m firmly in the ‘got it’ category….

12.) 30 Jun 2025 11:31:15
I'm actually not really that old (I'm 40), I just love '70s progressive/ heavy rock, honest.

13.) 30 Jun 2025 12:02:15
I’m old (almost 50) and I got the ELP reference.

27 Jun 2025 11:50:19
Gabriel Schluter signed, medical next week.

Ernest Millar

1.) 27 Jun 2025 12:10:00
Good lad and prospect for the future.

2.) 27 Jun 2025 14:24:51
We do like a right-footed left-winger!

3.) 27 Jun 2025 17:00:58
Maybe our first team tastes would've changed by the time he gets close in 2030 or so, SK!

26 Jun 2025 19:09:22
One for the eds, has there been any noise regarding gonçalo ramos? Looked like a world beater a few seasons ago and isn't playing much at PSG. Would he be a good fit or even under consideration?

Ernest Millar

{Ed001's Note - no noise but they are in the middle of the CWC.}

1.) 26 Jun 2025 22:56:59
Funny how his entourage are out making noise a couple of days after the Williams to Barcelona move has gotten serious. now he wants to stay.

2.) 27 Jun 2025 05:11:25
Looks awful every time I watch him.

3.) 27 Jun 2025 08:24:46
He looks like the after picture of John McGinns risky face surgery.

Bang versus player. He’s so slow.

4.) 27 Jun 2025 09:10:47
John McGinn is James from the digitally animated film of James and the Giant Peach. Have a look.

25 Jun 2025 17:29:57
Nunez to Napoli for just under £40mill plus add ons, not sure on how accurate that is but fingers crossed.

Ernest Millar

1.) 25 Jun 2025 18:41:26
[Ben Jacobs] Liverpool want 70M Euros for Darwin.

{Ed077's Note - and Ed077 wants Sydney Sweeney riding him ? Want doesn't always get

2.) 25 Jun 2025 18:42:44
Kinda makes sense - they wanted to pay €40m, we lowered our ask from €60m to €50m and what you say sounds like €45m + add ons.

Lower than most would’ve wanted, but will still show a slight profit for PSR as his purchase price will have been amortised over the 3 seasons he’s been with us (I think he joined on a 5 year contract, so 3/ 5 of his fee will have been amortised already.

3.) 25 Jun 2025 18:47:14
Half price sale! Everything must go!

4.) 25 Jun 2025 18:49:06
Its o. k. well make any loses back on Harvey, £60m+ after tonight, the kids on fire. ;-)

5.) 25 Jun 2025 19:04:18
Hi Ed077. Sydney Sweeney here. I’m on my way around to yours. I’ll bring my own saddle.

{Ed077's Note - I'll get the lubes ??

6.) 25 Jun 2025 19:04:37
If i was a betting man, id say Hughes will not be accepting such a reduced fee from Napoli, why would they? Why not play Napoli off with the Saudis and everyone else to drive the price up? Hughes is a hard negotiator.

7.) 25 Jun 2025 19:21:21
Elliotts a tough one, clearly loves the club, cracking left foot, works hard and seems a good kid. But just doesn’t seem to have the physicals for a slot team in the middle, and we have salah on the right. I bet he will look good if we sell him, and might seem like a regret, but not sure he will get the opportunity if he stays.

8.) 25 Jun 2025 19:29:08
We all love Harvey Firmane but unfortunately passion for the club isn’t enough otherwise we’d all be playing for Liverpool.

9.) 25 Jun 2025 20:53:36
No need for the lube youll slot-in fine I bet.

10.) 25 Jun 2025 21:10:11
Harvey is 100% better than Curtis jones.

11.) 25 Jun 2025 21:10:42
Hughes being a hard negotiator is better than him hardly negotiating last window.

12.) 25 Jun 2025 22:54:25
They are a different type of player Magico but Jones does what he does better than Harvey does what he does.

Harvey has shown glimpses of brilliance at times but ultimately he is largely anonymous when he plays. I don’t think you can say that about Jones.

13.) 25 Jun 2025 23:58:09
Now now let’s not talk about money Ed002 will be looking down on us tutting YNWA Ed.

14.) 26 Jun 2025 01:20:16
Add ons : €50 for every time he’s offside.

Hughes: DEAL!

15.) 26 Jun 2025 02:54:52
Harvey's time was up after the loss to Plymouth Argyle. Slot put his trust and faith in him to lead the team that night, and he was invisible.

16.) 26 Jun 2025 05:14:19
That game against Plymouth is taking on legendary status isn’t it? It was a second string team sent out to try and get a result that didn’t happen - a bad day at the office for an already under strength team. Yet Elliott and Chiesa and one or two others seemed to have ruined their careers based on 60 minutes in what the club took as a ‘gimme’. I think Elliot has it in him to be a very good player and Chiesa, if he ever does get to the right levels for the PL could well be excellent.

17.) 26 Jun 2025 06:44:12
Yep, WDW, absolutely right.
I think the powers that be at LFC are more intelligent than to base their decision on whether to keep or sell first team players on a single game in the middle of the season a long way past the end of the M5 where none of the players were used to playing together.
If having an anonymous game or two was reason to sell we'd be hawking Mo Salah!
I love Harvey, and I think he'll be a brilliant player. I think he'll flourish given game time and we'd kick ourselves if we let him go and do that against us instead of for us. Think how furious the Fulham fans are to see him in red!
I think he could be (or could have been) a future LFC captain.
Clearly it's going to be very difficult for him to get game time in a midfield packed with world class talent.
Maybe a loan, or at the very least a sale with a buy back clause, is best for everyone. But I hope we keep him, and rotate more to keep everyone fit and at their best.

18.) 26 Jun 2025 09:46:32
You don’t spend £116m on a ten and keep the spare.
Harvey has played games in succession during this tournament and proven how good he is. He needs games and match sharpness. He needs to play twice a week, not once every six weeks.

With the arrival of Flozza Dubs he isn’t playing. It’s in his interest to leave. Brighton looks like the perfect club.

I wish him well, he’s an absolute belter but Slot likes people who can cover the ground, Harvey doesn’t do that.

19.) 26 Jun 2025 09:57:26
Ron i nearly fell off my chair with the offside add on, that was proper funny.

20.) 26 Jun 2025 10:24:54
If Saudi don't want to pay silly money then to be honest I'd say Nunez is worth no more than £40million plus some add ons. How much would you be happy to see us pay for a striker who has deteriorated over the last 3 years and coming off a season having scored 7 goals?

21.) 26 Jun 2025 10:31:05
Nunez is approaching his best years. He’s not gotten worse, he’s in the hardest league and still has a GA comparable with Firmino.

He is not a bad player, he is in the wrong league with the wrong manager for him.

22.) 26 Jun 2025 11:54:44
“Nunez is approaching his best years” - that has made my sides ache I laughed that much. He had two good games against us about 4 years ago. Since then he has steadily deteriorated. How you reach the conclusion that his best years are coming just makes me laugh every time I think about it. My wife thinks I’ve gone mad.

23.) 26 Jun 2025 12:27:35
Yep, that’s clearly just daft.

He plays for Liverpool. No Liverpool player is a bad player. He plays regular international football for Bielsa.
So Klopp and Bielsa think he’s good.
Lad on the internet doesn’t.

Liverpool pay him more than we will ever earn because he’s a very good footballer. His hold up play is good, his attitude was astounding as was his work rate. His heads up his arse as Slot doesn’t fancy him, but he’s a good footballer.

I’d tend to agree with the 60,000 at Anfield as opposed to a lad on a forum.

Taking things at face value:-
Isak is plan A, Newcastle have said not for sale but also want to add a striker who just so happens to be our plan B - Ekitike. As plan B is normally better than plan C we have now made contact.
If we can't shift Nunez we have him and Ekitike which might just work out. Newcastle then sign DCL and everybody is happy apart Newcastle who have signed DCL.

Ernest Millar

1.) 16 Jul 2025 17:49:13
I think they are all smokescreens for Dirk Diggler - now there’s a fella who can SCORE!

2.) 16 Jul 2025 17:50:55
I'm not so sure. I still don't see how Ekitike and Isak play together.

3.) 16 Jul 2025 18:28:46
PB, the BBC website had a long article even including the heat maps of the two players, and I came to the same conclusion. I just can’t see any dovetailing going on, unless you play Ekitike in Gordon’s spot and wreck the player.

4.) 16 Jul 2025 18:55:46
It doesn't make sense to me that we would go in for ekitike if he is due to be isaks replacement and as far as im aware we're the only ones with a declared interest in isak.
If Newcastle are willing to let him go and ekitike is the replacement then surely we (the club) would be the first to know?

5.) 16 Jul 2025 20:11:43
What we clearly need is the third coming of our lord and saviour Divock Origi.

{Ed025's Note - why Taurus...are the toilets blocked?.. :)

6.) 16 Jul 2025 21:14:53
Chuckle, Ed.

7.) 16 Jul 2025 23:15:18
Watch it ed25
You may not rate Origi
But against Everton, he is Pele, Ronaldo (R9), Ian Rush and Fowler combined. Will score against you even with his backside.

{Ed025's Note - he scored 1 goal ffs sg and that was a Pickford mistake, lets be honest mate he was a lump of lard who should never have been anywhere near a premiership side..

15 Jul 2025 17:12:17
It looks like being a busy week and a half. Hopefully all transfers are wrapped up before the brief Asia tour.
After seeing various reports go from isak to ekitike to Rodrygo in the last few hours I think its safe to say nobody has any idea how things will end up. Numerous Saudi sides now after Nunez as the Napoli deal appears to have fallen through, Diaz to Bayern!? Crazy stuff.

Ernest Millar

13 Jul 2025 16:58:04
Lots of positives from the first game of pre-season, firstly hats off to both sets of teams and fans on what must have been a very difficult day.
Young Rio looked a menace every time he was on the ball, Stephenson and Nyoni both very assured, mama looks to have a bit of donnaruma about him, kerkez looks excellent, nunez an ice cold striker re-born?

For those who didn't get a chance to watch there were some really nice moments with both sets of fans singing Diogo's song.

Rest in peace lads YNWA.

Ernest Millar

1.) 13 Jul 2025 23:13:33
The scenes at the end where the players and coaches stood Infront of the fans as they changed Diogo's song were very emotional, Gary Gillespie was in bits after it on LFCTV. Something that will live with me a long time, well done to all the fans today. Both sets, immaculate x.

13 Jul 2025 09:20:39
AI list of the 20 greatest Liverpool players of all time.

20. Xabi Alonso

19. Tommy Smith

18. Jordan Henderson

17. Fernando Torres

16. Steve McManaman

15. Sadio Mane

14. Terry McDermott

13. Ray Clemence

12. Kevin Keegan

11. Jamie Carragher

10. Virgil van Dijk

9. Emlyn Hughes

8. Phil Neal

7. Graeme Souness

6. Alan Hansen

5. Mohamed Salah

4. John Barnes

3. Ian Rush

2. Kenny Dalglish

1. Steven Gerrard.

Ernest Millar

{Ed078's Note - not bad. Would have Kenny before SG, and, even though he was a grub, Suarez has to rank higher than Hendo, Torres, Macca, Sadio and dare I say, Xabi.

1.) 13 Jul 2025 10:08:29
Jamie Carragher should not even be on the list.

2.) 13 Jul 2025 10:10:15
Cara over Keegan? ?.

3.) 13 Jul 2025 10:13:39
Carragher?

Sorry but he wouldn’t get in my top 20, he might struggle to get in my top 50

Roger Hunt?
Ron Yeats?

4.) 13 Jul 2025 10:15:12
I hope that’s just a list of 20 and not in any sort of ranking
Carra above Keegan and McDermott?

5.) 13 Jul 2025 10:23:17
I wouldn’t have Henderson and certainly not Carragher but definitely Allison and I loved Beardsley. I’m sure there’s plenty of others. Maybe a top 50 Liverpool players might cover it, in no particular order.

6.) 13 Jul 2025 10:44:07
If you watched Carragher play and think he was better than Sami Hyypia then I've really got to question your judgement.

7.) 13 Jul 2025 10:27:40
There has to be a place for Fowler as well probably for Mane.

8.) 13 Jul 2025 10:31:04
How old are you? Under 25? No fowler as well as loads missing from the 80s? Possibly the worst post i've seen in a long time.

9.) 13 Jul 2025 10:35:37
Carragher got in based on appearances. There's a small justification for each choice on the original article.

10.) 13 Jul 2025 10:38:12
Robbie Fowler?

11.) 13 Jul 2025 10:41:09
Kenny Dalglish is clear at no1.

Not only a top talent but the best of mankind.

12.) 13 Jul 2025 10:41:41
Roger Hunt? Billy Liddell? I’d have Sami before Carra.

13.) 13 Jul 2025 10:54:22
How you can have a top 20 without god is beyond me
Top 20 list mmmmmm
Up the pool.

14.) 13 Jul 2025 11:07:23
Queen of the scotty road - try reading a bit slower, its an AI generated list I stumbled across that i thought might be a bit of fun for discussion on a Sunday morning.

15.) 13 Jul 2025 11:09:44
Just relieved to see AI is still a bit not good and we are not all about to be replaced.

16.) 13 Jul 2025 12:38:09
Depends entirely how you quantify 'greatest'. Hendo captained the club to our first league title in +30 years but he would be warming the bench if competing with Rafa's late 00's midfield that didn't win a thing. talent and accomplishment are two very different things.

17.) 13 Jul 2025 13:08:38
And that’s why AI is still a few years off before it wipes out the human race.

18.) 13 Jul 2025 13:38:12
If Stevie is the greatest midfielder of all time where does that leave Souness? In my life no one other than Zidane has come close to Gerrard.

19.) 13 Jul 2025 14:12:08
Carragher and McManaman don’t belong on that list.

20.) 13 Jul 2025 14:32:45
In my opinion I think Souness was better than Gerrard as he was a more complete midfielder. I’d pick him over Gerrard every time because opposition players were terrified of Souness. I think Hansen said that the players thought they could beat anyone because Souness dominated the middle so much.

21.) 13 Jul 2025 14:33:14
Keegan has to be higher.

22.) 13 Jul 2025 14:53:54
Fair enough, I’m constantly speed reading so missed the A. I. bit, won’t catch me using that garbage anytime soon.

23.) 13 Jul 2025 15:16:16
I agree not very intelligent that artificial is it ?.

24.) 13 Jul 2025 15:50:12
If Souness had not returned to manage us, and had not talked to the sc*m- he would have been remembered solely for his playing and been right up there.

The most complete midfield player I have had the pleasure of watching play for us.

25.) 13 Jul 2025 16:14:25
Carra played over 700 games for Liverpool, openly admits there were better players, but he constantly played well, put in some shifts and was instrumental in a number of trophy wins. Just be open and honest and say you don’t like him as a person.

26.) 13 Jul 2025 17:54:10
If it’s an all time list how come there is nobody on the list from 1982 to 1962, when Tommy Smith signed as a 17 year old? ‘All time’ didn’t start in the 1960’s.

27.) 13 Jul 2025 17:57:28
Carra is an absolute knob.

28.) 13 Jul 2025 18:36:16
I have never met Carragher so I’m judging him on his football ability alone.
Top 50 on a good day.

29.) 13 Jul 2025 23:03:20
Am I missing him or did Becker not make that list?
And Carra might have played a lot of games for us but that is more indicative of the lack of options imo. Good player but no way is he one of the best centre backs we have had unless you were limiting the list to the last 40 years.

01 Jul 2025 20:12:56
Maybe a touch of WCC fever but Yildiz looks like some player for Juve, moves a bit like kvaratskhelia and always looking for the ball, definately one to keeo an eye on. Would be some player to sign out of the blue and no doubt very expensive!

Slotsredmen is no doubt saying that if Newcastle go in at £75 million on a player valued at £86 million then we won't go in at £80 million, or start a bidding war over and above the asking price.
