Unless there is a clearout or a change of formation in 2020/ 21 I can't understand what's going on in midfield.
We play with 3 Midfielders generally.
We have Henderson, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, Kieta, Ox, Milner, Jones, Shaqiri, Wilson, Grujic. Trent could also play the odd game there in the future and there's also the rumoured possible signing of Thiago Alcantara. It feels to me that at least one and possibly two of Wijnaldum, Kieta and Ox would need to be moving on in addition to Shaqiri, Wilson and Grujic if TA signs. Has anyone shown any interest in our midfielders apart from Grujic and Shaqiri?
It doesn't make a lot of sense to me but then it doesn't have to!

Wilson and Gruijic will not play for Liverpool's first team so you can cross them off the list. Shaqiri will be sold so that leaves 7. Milner has to cover lb, Fabs atm is covering 4th cb, OX sometimes goes further forward. It will also be a very intense season coming up and as we all know Klopp likes to press in midfield. There will be suspensions, injuries etc. 7 is the minimum we need. Midfield is where Klopp likes to keep it as fresh as possible.

{Ed001's Note - Wilson doesn't play midfield anyway, nor does Shaqiri.}

Why don’t you just trust in the club to do the right thing in the transfer market with any signings or not?
Best recruitment and value for money in the entire league.

The recruitment has been fantastic, you're right. Obviously I'll support whoever comes in. The strategy has always been clear though. Either a team changing talent or an undervalued type who can improve and be coached up. Luckily the team's in better hands than mine!

I think with milly career winding down we are going to miss the creativity he brings to the midfield. (people who say we have no creativity obviously forgot milner plays for us. And ox, and Hendo, and gini for that matter. Oh and keita. I'm joking, but milners class is not easily replaced. I'm not going to doubt any of klopp signings, especially not when it's a winner like T. A. (Good initials for Liverpool player BTW) but yeah, if its true I reckon its to ultimately replace milner.

With LFC needing to sell to buy presumably this would drive prices down, particularly as there would be a lot fewer clubs in position to buy. Wouldn't it be more prudent to retain assets till the market improves in say 12 months time or loan out players with an obligation to buy in 12 months like Danny Ings had? Do you think this might be the most likely route with Grujic, Wilson and Karius rather than players being bought outright or is loan to buy seen as more of a last resort?

It depends on wether any club is willing to offer a deal like that, . I'd prefer just a basic season loan if we can't get the desired fees this year and hopefully see their stock rise after another season of regular game time.

A player is only worth what someone is willing to pay for him. It's that simple, really.

Can you advise what keyword i should enter to find Ed002's latest summary of targets (about a month ago I'm guessing) . Cheers, Sparks.

{Ed002's Note - Try Groeneveld.}

Hello, It's clear that several players will be leaving either on loan or permanently. I've read on here Baloteli, Borini, Lambert and Enrique will be sold if a buyer can be found . Are there any others to your knowledge or is it a case of seeing who we receive bids for and who would benefit from getting some playing time on loan?

Hopefully Allen to that list so Rossiter or anyone really gets his place. Only Enrique is less effective

2.) 20 Jul 2015 01:58:12
Barring a miracle, BR will till try to force the idea that Allen is a great player down our throats even tho after three year, we have seen proof of the contrary.

3.) 20 Jul 2015 04:48:04
joe allen is a perfectly good player , he can make a pass and keep the game moving forward. he is not a DM or deep lying playmaker and cannot defend . his tracking back is poor. he is more of a ramsey mould player ( no where in quality near him atm though). the problem is hendo and allen cannot be in one team because no one of them really likes to sit back. that is why i think milner is a good buy.
As for allen his chances would be scarce because of milner hendo . and he will play mostly when one of them isn't available.

4.) 20 Jul 2015 06:17:49
Allen is is a CM and should be played alongside a DM. Otherwise makes no swnse.

5.) 20 Jul 2015 07:24:19
What about Can? He HAS to play before Allan.

6.) 20 Jul 2015 09:45:26
Did Allen not play alongside Hendo when he first came, and looked good. Then he got injured and Gerrard came back after injury I think, and since then Allan has been played all over the place and not given a run. I'm pretty sure Ed01 pointed this out last year but can't find it in the search.

Hi, Do we need to sell players to balance the books for FFP by a certain date (July 1st?). If so are we in a position for deals to go through in time? I'm thinking Aspas, Coates and Borini are the most likely. Cheers, Sparks

{Ed002's Note - The club is not going to be penalised over that issue.}

Thoughts are with Lewandowski fans (and ED0666) in these hard times (in more ways than one perhaps) .
