Apparently Nunēz is a doubt for Sunday as he has a foot injury.

GHIATI9

1.) 02 Feb 2024 20:55:14
Is that his left foot or his left one.

2.) 02 Feb 2024 21:14:23
Right.

3.) 02 Feb 2024 22:19:47
He trained…. Nunez will be available to score on Sunday.

{Ed025's Note - hopefully hes been to Specsavers Tommy.. :)

4.) 03 Feb 2024 03:56:44
Is that the narrative now. he had a foot injury and that's why he hit the post 4 times.

Relax peeps. just a little joke to set the mood for Arsenal.

5.) 03 Feb 2024 08:39:33
My theory is that Bielsa has told him to ‘aim for the back post’, which he’s taken too literally. A bit of fine tuning at the next training session and he’ll be hitting the back of the net soon.

6.) 03 Feb 2024 08:44:25
This whole thread is funny. I hope he hits the bar again so people keep chatting nonsense. He gets involved in goal actions every single game. Let the haters hate.

7.) 03 Feb 2024 09:02:45
He’s a forward, he wants to score. He has the good fortune that the team and him in other aspects of his game, are playing well so him missed opportunities aren’t costing us.

8.) 03 Feb 2024 11:11:59
Maybe they have now straightened his foot and goes on to score 30 more goals.

9.) 03 Feb 2024 11:48:45
Nunez is the most exciting player in the league.
Nobody comes close to him.
Just need him to put these chances away.

10.) 03 Feb 2024 12:00:38
His foot looked pretty good when he made that inch perfect pass for Diaz to score….

11.) 03 Feb 2024 15:11:55
For me, Nunez is an absolutely phenomenal player. Man with an iron will, because no matter how many times he hits the woodwork or misses, he just gets back at it and never let's his head down. That means a lot in this game; self-confidence and self belief. He could have easily walked off with a hat trick after that game. I remember when Suarez, Sturridge and Sterling went through the same exact thing that one season where they found the woodwork more often than not, that one particular season. Next season it was fine and never to be mentioned again. The same will happen with Nunez; no doubts about it.

12.) 03 Feb 2024 19:13:27
I agree with that ArAy. I remember people saying Suarez wasn’t a natural finisher and that he was trying to be too precise with his finishing so hitting the woodwork a lot. Nunez is the same, it will come.

13.) 03 Feb 2024 23:34:07
hoping that this is a bad rumour but I got a text message saying that Dom Szlob didn't travel with the team to London today.

14.) 04 Feb 2024 16:23:25
Groundsmen still picking up splinters. Hopefully he gets his reward in London today.

15.) 04 Feb 2024 16:36:08
@1jj, perhaps he should pretend he’s passing the ball into the net?

16.) 04 Feb 2024 22:55:50
Apparently, nobody in the PL had hit the woodwork 4 times in one match before. I understand Klopp saying that he didn’t hide when he kept missing and that he set up the goal that killed the game off and that Darwin played through pain and stuff. But I still don’t get that if he played on and had enough strength to hit the woodwork four times he must have had the capability to take half a second to compose himself and actually hit the target.

I get that he is a threat to opposition teams but I also think that his goals to shots ratio needs significant improvement. The lad is clearly on his way to being very popular with the fans (I think the term is ‘legend’ these days) but for me there’s still something missing.

17.) 04 Feb 2024 22:56:28
@Becker’s, there is always a chance that “people saying” about Suarez might just have been a load of rubbish though ?.

26 Jun 2023 21:15:22
The Liverpoil Echo are reporting that Rhys Williams is expected to go on loan. If it was up to me I would sell him because he may improve but not to the standard required to be a success at Liverpool. Any thoughts?

GHIATI9

1.) 26 Jun 2023 21:33:16
Nvr going to make it sell and wish him well.

{Ed002's Note - Rhys Williams (CB) Will need to find a new home which will likely mean dropping down a tier. He is never going to make the grade at Liverpool.}

2.) 26 Jun 2023 21:41:23
Need someone willing to pay money to sell him mate lol.

3.) 26 Jun 2023 22:01:42
If starting CB's get injured, we're going to look thin on the ground. I understand we're looking at one CB, but loaning might be a wise move. Sell him for a low amount, or need a player and buy at a premium (All for the player to be put back on the bench when a primary CB returns) . Perhaps I'm down the rabbit hole with this one, or is William's insignificance making him too significant to sell?

{Ed002's Note - There is no future at Liverpool.}

4.) 27 Jun 2023 06:04:16
Is a sale more likely, Ed?

{Ed002's Note - I cannot answer "more likely" questions.}

14 Sep 2022 21:39:12
Are we looking for a midfielder who can score goals? He has scored against Man City tonight. Or are we still 'monitoring' him?

GHIATI9

{Ed002's Note - Bellingham will be of interest to a number of clubs, including Liverpool, if he is available next summer. How many times do you need to be told the same thing?}

1.) 14 Sep 2022 22:06:24
No chance we get him.

2.) 14 Sep 2022 22:14:11
Just you wait til January 2023 Ed. I suspect the answer might very well be ‘quite a few’.

{Ed002's Note - You think Lampard and Gerrard will be available?}

3.) 15 Sep 2022 07:53:16
Its nailed on! player wants to come.

4.) 15 Sep 2022 09:54:12
The player may want to come but will the club pay the transfer fee and the wages he will want? That's actually the big question. I'd have a serious look before giving higher wages than VVD and Thiago (which he will probably expect), to someone.

5.) 15 Sep 2022 10:06:10
Thats the kind of wage any top top player is going to expect, probably more even. But if a player of Bellinghams level wants to sign you do everything you possibly can do as a club to make it happen.

6.) 15 Sep 2022 12:10:50
The more i watch him the more i realize with our owners we aren't getting him, what a player he is.

7.) 15 Sep 2022 12:16:49
Where can I see wher me Bellingham has said he wants to come?

8.) 15 Sep 2022 12:27:58
Its well known Jay, get with the programme and cheer up! the future is Red.

9.) 15 Sep 2022 12:44:59
Search square tomato.

10.) 15 Sep 2022 13:03:17
Goal aside he didn’t really do much throughout the game and was a virtual spectator the second half. Kind of expect a bit more for an alleged £150m footballer. Not that it matters, as he’s on his way to City/ United/ Chelsea, take your pick as they’ve got the money to spend.

11.) 15 Sep 2022 21:37:06
Are people expecting to see Gerrard when they watch Bellingham? Is it because of the rumoured fee? is this why the bar is so high when people are giving their views on him?

12.) 15 Sep 2022 21:37:36
As have we 6 times! Why is everyone afraid of us being able to sign these players? Give klopp players of the Calibre of Bellingham and he'll win the lot.

13.) 15 Sep 2022 22:52:30
He ain’t coming here Jude dream all u want! Fsg don’t spend like that and come next summer we need 5/ 6 players sorry to burst your bubble I’ll stay with the programme I’m on ta.

14.) 16 Sep 2022 01:11:22
@Lancaster Red - what sort of owners are FSG?

Are they the sort of owners that don’t spend money?

The on-going improvements to the ground notwithstanding, and of course, the new state of the art training facility.

Or are they the sort of owners who don’t buy players?

Between October 2010 - when they probably saved the club from a nasty situation - they have had 24 transfer windows, have brought in 76 first team signings and spent between £ 900m - £ 1bn.

I suspect that, given the context of Bellingham, you probably mean the latter. Can you tell me who - that was the right fit for the club on and off the pitch - and was wanted by the manager and coaching staff (rather than the Premier League Manager players, like me on here) that FsSG pulled the plug on because of money? Just asking.

15.) 16 Sep 2022 06:55:48
Search Square Tomato - I second that ….

16.) 16 Sep 2022 09:38:48
Like i was dreaming of Salah signing on in the summer! Bellingham wants Lfc. we want him, its happening. Enjoy the ride and smile Jay?.

17.) 16 Sep 2022 15:56:52
WDW, be careful because you're treading on dangerous ground here - citing factual actions and events that the owners have carried out beyond buying shiny toys from time to time. Before you know it, you'll be called one of those reviled "superfans" and shunned by everyone. ?.

18.) 16 Sep 2022 16:54:30
Owners have got plenty right and made mistakes.

Best thing they ever did was employ Klopp. As far as owning a football club goes the day he agreed to join the club, them and the fan base struck gold. We went from 7th to challengers and winners in a matter of years and we’re still here now challenging for top honours.

When Klopp leaves the ball will be back in FSG’s court and it’ll be their move to make again. Hopefully they hit it out of the park like they did with Klopp.

23 Aug 2022 17:11:39
Allison has come out and said teams know how we play.

GHIATI9

1.) 23 Aug 2022 17:55:57
He is correct, if he said it. The managers job is to bring a surprise element to the party every so often!

2.) 23 Aug 2022 18:38:58
If the players are saying that its worrying as they are going on the pitch thinking that, and it looks like that on the pitch to be honest, we play same formation same players same style week in week out year in year out . An element of surprise would be very handy but we all know that won't happen.

3.) 23 Aug 2022 18:39:08
Lol, like no ? Sherlock.

4.) 23 Aug 2022 18:51:52
How about 1 game we just park the bus and counter attack a team. because that's all they need to do against us.

5.) 23 Aug 2022 19:17:07
They've known for a while, we are just slowing down to the point where it matters now.

6.) 23 Aug 2022 19:18:30
Teams knew how we played last year. We had the quality to overwhelm teams for the most part. What a pointless conversation.

7.) 23 Aug 2022 19:39:25
Maybe if pep lindgers put more effort into coaching than trying to be j. k rowling we wouldn't be in the mess we are. This guy thinks he's the second coming and is really beginning to irratate me with his interviews. He's an assistant coach and got binned from the only manager job he ever had in a farmers league.

8.) 23 Aug 2022 19:51:59
Every team knows how City play, I don't see what point you're trying to make?

9.) 23 Aug 2022 20:07:28
I think it’s more teams now know how to play against us.

10.) 23 Aug 2022 19:35:27
So how do we play guys? Describe it to me. Go on

This is a nothing story. We are playing poorly and you morons need to get behind the team. Any team can analyze tape and say they know how we play - we used to be so good at it that knowing how we play and still beating us were separate.

There’s also no real way to quantify “how we play”. If I were an opposing fan I’d get so much joy out of watching you guys squirm at a little adversity. Good thing this team isn’t made of what you are.

11.) 23 Aug 2022 19:39:25
Maybe if pep lindgers put more effort into coaching than trying to be j. k rowling we wouldn't be in the mess we are. 12.) 23 Aug 2022 19:51:59
Every team knows how City play, I don't see what point you're trying to make?

13.) 23 Aug 2022 20:05:17
Great point IR. We just need to get better at what we do. A few players being swapped out won’t hurt, but that’s the crux of it.

14.) 23 Aug 2022 20:22:53
Saying teams know how we play is beyond stupid. Of course teams know how we play. But stopping us or us countering them stopping us is what decides outcomes. People really can be quite stupid.

15.) 23 Aug 2022 20:24:00
yep pep's book has been irritating i agree. another needless distraction.

16.) 23 Aug 2022 20:24:10
Teams have known how we play for years, just look at their first goal last night. Trent strolled after his man it was absolutely shocking to see. Vvd wasn't any better and got a mouthfull off Milner, every team loses the biggest worry for me is effort and attitude which for the first time in a long long time looks a bit off.

17.) 23 Aug 2022 20:28:01
A change to 3-4-3 might stop the regular bus service operating through the middle of our defence at the moment.

A word of caution for the Bournemouth game, Scott Parker's last visit to Anfield was as Fulham manager which he won 1-0.

On the plus side for us Parkers win percentage as a Manager in the Premier League is 18%, let's hope it's still that after the game.

We hammered Man City to win the Charity Shield on the 30 July, who could have predicted our current position three weeks later, isn't football a funny old game.

18.) 23 Aug 2022 20:36:36
TJ is on the money, and Redmick is the proof. Twice at that.

19.) 23 Aug 2022 20:50:01
TJ so anyone who shares a different opinion to you is a moron?

20.) 23 Aug 2022 20:52:39
Pep’s book? You know you’re getting ridiculous when you come up with things that have nothing to do with anything. I think you guys sound insecure.

I just think it’s minor adjustments and getting some confidence back. Pretty hard to change up the playing group when 10 first teamers are out.

21.) 23 Aug 2022 22:20:44
Of course not. But it’s been 3 games and you guys are writing off a team that almost won everything 3 months ago.

22.) 23 Aug 2022 22:43:54
Slow day huh? Is there any manager in the PL or CL who hasn’t known how we play for the past 5 or 6 years? Even the ‘morons’ to resort to school ground name calling, would be able to figure out we play 4 3 3 with a high press and focus on winning the ball back when we lose it as high up the pitch as we can.

The point isn’t about teams knowing what we do (or us knowing what other teams don the point is about executing your plan and - apart from about 30 to 45 minutes in the Charity Shield against City - we haven’t been anywhere near as good as we can be at executing.

As an aside and maybe for those who possess a sense of humour, perhaps Keita’s contribution in the 40 odd games he played last season may have made a smidgeon of difference and we all agreed that Thiago was playing his best football for us at the backend of last season and both haven’t featured in the league yet. We are way below our recent standards at the moment but there are 35 games to go and some key members of the squad to come back. I’m not quite ready to give up on one of the top 2 or 3 teams in Europe / the world over the past three years and I’d bet that 99% of football teams in the country would jump at at the chance of swapping their manager and squad for ours. Again, just saying.

23.) 23 Aug 2022 23:40:14
We were also two penalty shoot outs from winning nothing last year. I think the cup wins glossed over a poor end to the season, we didn't play particularly in any of the finals.
What concerns me is we seem to have lost our mojo a bit. Salah has been off his best for a while, VVD too and our full backs, it wasnt that long ago they were getting assists for fun, I can't even remember the last one.

24.) 24 Aug 2022 00:40:52
Jk, TJ said that everyone who doesn’t get behind the team is a moron, not that everyone that disagrees with him is a moron.

I don’t agree with him, I don’t think that people who have a go at their team when things aren’t going right are morons. I don’t understand them, I don’t agree with them, but I don’t think they’re morons for doing so.

I think that TJ was just venting a bit of frustration at people that he sees as being a weak in their support of the team (sorry if I’ve put words in your mouth there TJ, just trying to get where you’re coming from) . I don’t think he wrote that they were morons for not agreeing with his opinion though. He was just offering an opinion of his own. I think he’s perfectly entitled to do that.

25.) 24 Aug 2022 01:07:35
Can only remember two games in the 20 or so league Keita appeared in and actually made a difference in, the 5-0 against Man U and the 1-0 win against Newcastle. Two games. Just two. Kind of expect better for £50m+.

26.) 24 Aug 2022 02:06:59
@Stuie you do actually realise that we won the two cups though? You also appreciate that we actually won several rounds to get to the finals and that no other team in the country did it? The cracks, as you have identified them, are relatively small.

If you look back over the past couple of years we identified the need to upgrade our defence - Konate, Tsimikas and latterly the very highly thought of Ramsay we’re brought in.

We identified the need to improve the overall quality of our attack - say hello to Jota, Diaz and Nunez. We also re-signed Mo to a new long term deal but lost lost Mane and Bobby is on the wane but we have also brought in Carvalho who could step into the Bobby role - time will tell.

The (perceived) weak link is now the midfield. We will lose Millie as a player at the end of this season, Ox too and potentially Keita if the new contract isn’t agreed. That said we have, when they are back from injury more than enough to see us through the season acknowledging that one or two new players would / could ‘freshen’ things up. I think in an ideal world from the clubs perspective we would have signed Tchouameni and Bellingham but that wasn’t to be - we could probably eased some fans nerves by buying other midfielders but the general consensus is that we wasted a lot of money on midfielders who haven’t fit the bill so what’s the point in spending heaps of money on someone. (or two) that the club aren’t convinced about.

All clubs go through ‘poor’ spells during the season - City and Chelsea tailed off last year, we had a dodgy run mid-season. We should be wary and it would be good to get some of the troops back, say Kelleher, Matip, Konate, Thiago, Jones, Keita and Jota and get Nunez back from suspension and things will start to look a bit brighter.

There’s a post put up yesterday that said our bench at United was poor. Apart from the obvious disrespect shown to the youngsters by the poster it is not really surprising that the bench looks relative weak when a third of our first team squad is out for one reason or another. All the players I mentioned above would be in our match day squad. Take a third out of anybody’s squad - Chelsea, Tottenham, Arsenal, United, even City and they would struggle.

27.) 24 Aug 2022 06:27:29
Great points WWW ?.

28.) 24 Aug 2022 07:39:10
WDW, that's all well and good, but I did say that it glossed over a poor 'end' to the season. Yes we won the earlier rounds to reach the finals, playing excellent football, but you cannot deny our end of season or final performances were a big drop off.

We won two finals in shoot outs, which are a complete lottery. Another day, we could have ended up losing both just as easily. The drop off is alarming.

I am not arguing that we haven't invested, far from it in my opinion, but like I said, it has glossed over the cracks. I said the other week on here that people are saying we need a Bellingham etc, but we need more than one MF.

It has been quite obvious for some time that a large proportion of the team are of a similar age and on contracts of a similar length, if we aren't careful, we could end up in a situation where we need to replace half the first team.

29.) 24 Aug 2022 08:15:10
Allison must be the moron then. What ever happened to support the players and YNWA.

30.) 24 Aug 2022 09:44:34
@JK23 a rather large leap there. Where does it say Ali is a moron? If you read what has been written again the inference, if there is any, is that he is sensible in recognising the fact that opposition teams know the way we play.

31.) 24 Aug 2022 09:45:58
But isn't that the fundamental problem, we have a lot of players who now get injured regularly, hard to win leagues with players like that.

32.) 24 Aug 2022 10:12:28
"everyone knows how we play"

Everyone knew that hasslebaink would shift to the right and shoot low across the keeper.

Everyone knows Salah will cut inside to shoot on his left.

Everyone knew Michael Owen was going to break off the last defender.

Knowing what someone will do doesn't mean you can do anything about it if it's done well. Our problem is we are not doing it well.

33.) 24 Aug 2022 10:17:43
Of the players you name WDW only really Matip, Konate, Thiago and possibly Jota make a difference in the starting 11 and we’re very unlikely to see Matip, Konate and Thiago for a good two months at the very least by which time we could be well out of contention for the league and struggling to break top four given our quite appalling form. But even then, what odds Thiago breaking down again? We have far too many players who are far too fragile.

34.) 24 Aug 2022 10:54:11
WDW a load of Aberdeen fans told me he was a moron and what they say is gospel.

35.) 24 Aug 2022 10:44:35

------------Take all of this "teams" stuff to the match posts page please-----------

36.) 24 Aug 2022 12:30:37
Perhaps I shouldn’t have said moron - but I find it very short sighted to be writing this team off so soon. I’m also tired of seeing “we need x player from this team - why are they strengthening and we aren’t? ” in pure MotD fever (I’ve seen some wanting to be more like Arsenal on here of all teams) .

I’ve also seen some calling klopp an idiot, insane, you name it, calling out his lack of success (lol) . Saying FSG haven’t backed us again after we’ve spent a fortune in the market. For those, I will continue to use the word moron.

We have an excellent team, and though it is not as simple as it seems, we just have to rediscover our flow and play better. This team certainly doesn’t pull themselves out of a funk without support.

One last thing: What Allison said is fine - and for the record, he’s the best keeper on the planet. It’s not even close.

37.) 24 Aug 2022 17:40:10
TJ on the money yet again.
Detached posting with clarity is in short supply at the moment on here, and he's got it in spades.
Top class fella, keep 'em coming.

38.) 24 Aug 2022 17:56:01
Well for a start teams know to target us down our right side as Trent goes walkabouts and exploit the space he leaves. They know Trent plays and use that to their advantage. But what is Klopp doing to balance it? He plays Harvey Elliot on the right and expects him to cover Trent and Salah but still be an attacking threat ?.

39.) 24 Aug 2022 19:43:03
Trent goes walkabout = Trent gets sent forward to create chances.
Take the chances that Trent creates out of the picture and things would look a whole lot worse.
If Klopp was to tell Trent to stay home and not cross the halfway line it would be a criminal waste of a proven quality attacking outlet.
The whole team is slightly out of sync and form at the moment and probably short of confidence too. The only cure is playing through it, like marathon runners "hitting the wall".
There is no magic cure other than hard work on the training pitch and getting injured players back.

40.) 23 Aug 2022 23:30:35
Shame are team don't know how we play really mite have saved us a few points.

If Klopp thinks Endo is not ready yet, I would play Zbozlai as n°6 until he is. He is stronger and faster than MacAllister. The latter can play as an attacking midfielder. What do the Eds and fellow reds think about that?

GHIATI9

1.) 09 Oct 2023 04:28:12
I would play trent there for the time until we get a proper six Andre if possible.

{Ed001's Note - we have one.}

2.) 09 Oct 2023 09:59:20
Let szobo flourish in his best position. We are already playing Macca out of position.

Spot on, Mikey1985. Szobo (nor Macca) should be nowhere near that position. We complain that Macca is wasted in the 6 yet we want to play Szobo in the 6 who will also be wasted there as well? Weird logic, mate.

We have a no. 6. His name is Endo Wataru. If Klopp is not playing him as much as required then, that is a Dear Jurgen question.

They have admitted that a SIGNIFICANT human error took place. How many referees were in the VAR room? Three? So, that's THREE SIGNIFICANT HUMAN ERRORS. It's difficult to comprehend. They should be sacked and we need to employ ex-players as VAR officials.

Human error! What a load of bollocks. It’s drawing 2 lines on a green screen . There people out there like brain surgeons or flight directors that perform under the highest pressure possible and they can’t make any simple mistakes.
Can you imagine putting your life in the hands of VAR
“Oh am sorry your dead it was a human error”
It blatant cheating! And we can’t do anything to stop it. Our game as we now it is finished!

2.) 01 Oct 2023 00:01:29
Oh it's worse than that.

It's coming out now that Darren England thought the goal had been given on the pitch and thus said "Check Complete" when he looked at it and saw Diaz was quite obviously onside. That's a roundabout way of saying he wasn't paying attention to his job, btw. Not to mention that at no point in the 30 seconds afterwards when it was blatantly obvious that the goal had not been given did he say "Sorry Simon, hang on there a minute, should be a goal. "

Mind boggling stuff.

3.) 01 Oct 2023 00:03:27
An error is a mistake. No mistakes were made

Deliberate match fixing and corruption, manipulating the outcome of sport results for financial gain.

4.) 01 Oct 2023 00:13:16
There is a leader among the 3. Usually other 2 just suck up to boss.

5.) 01 Oct 2023 00:31:12
Ex-players have strong biases and should not be judging decisions. However, this kind of scenario is inexcusable. If you cannot get an offside decision correct with VAR then it is utterly useless.
These are big decisions. If we lose out on Champions League by a point it a multi-million pound decision. Those officials shouldn't be suspended, they should be sacked.

6.) 01 Oct 2023 00:33:13
Apparently PGMOL have now said that Darren England (var) thought the goal had been given. So he saw it was onside and said check complete. He never realised it wasn’t originally given and that was his mistake. He then never noticed the freekick rather than the restart. Once the freekick was taken there was nothing in the laws they could do.

If that’s true they could have made both teams aware immediately.

The whole situation stinks anyway but that just stinks even more.

7.) 01 Oct 2023 03:36:43
I don’t buy the free kick is taken already so nothing can be done

So the next time players get a decision they dislike, they just need to act quickly and force the ref to flow with their decision? Utter bollocks.

8.) 01 Oct 2023 09:49:57
I know SR, like in the 30 to 40 seconds it took Spurs to set up for a freekick, the VAR couldn't talk to the ref and ask 'dude, what are you doing? It was a clear goal! ' - really? They thought, what 'nah, we'll let this play out instead'?

I swear, the PGMOL have admitted an obvious error has occurred - am, this is so much more stupid than that. Are you seriously just explaining this away as an error? Come one, there was what 30-40 seconds to see a goal was not given, this level of absolute incompetence is so well beyond a simple error being made.

Completely mindblowing the decisions made in this game.

The owners know nothing about football. It's Klopp you should ask but he already knows we need players as he has said today. Maybe you should ask why the owners aren't releasing more funds.
