A lot of talk on social media regarding the Ox. Should we keep him or look to sell. With 12 months left on his contract he can leave for nothing. Any thoughts. What would be his current value. Quality player until his injury but hardly plays now. Would also stunt the development of the younger players in the squad. If his value is very low maybe keep him as a squad/back up player for 12 months.

1.) 07 Jul 2022 14:30:17
I don't think he is a quality player anymore. It is the right time to sell him. Giving him a new contract would make no sense.

2.) 07 Jul 2022 15:34:34
Let him leave imo, give any of his potential minutes to a youngster and let him try, injuries permitting, get game time elsewhere.

He comes across as a nice guy and has talent. But for his wages and the fact he won't get too many minutes, it just makes sense to see if there are any takers.

I still think he will end up at Newcastle but that's based on no more then a hunch.

3.) 07 Jul 2022 15:39:44
I wouldn’t give him another contract no.

4.) 07 Jul 2022 16:31:28
This might not be a popular opinion but I think there’s a massive difference between being a quality player and giving a few quality performances.

Don’t get me wrong Ox had some quality performances for us prior to his injuries but when I think of who has been a quality player for us during the Klopp era players like Allison, Vvd, Trent, Robbo, Fab, Hendo, Bobby, Mo and Mane come to mind well over the Ox.

5.) 07 Jul 2022 17:29:29
Let him go. He needs a new environment to resurrect his career. And £15 Million sounds about right.

6.) 07 Jul 2022 17:31:27
Sell him get what he can he’s a big wage taker cut our losses and wish him the best.

7.) 07 Jul 2022 16:38:57
Last season Joel Matip was pretty much injury free and he had a really good season.

If Bobby and the Ox could have injury free seasons then we could have a couple of brilliant options to use and then we could see whether they should get new contracts.

If they decide to leave for free then that’s fine but if they play well and deserve new 2 or 3 year contracts which they take up then everyone is a winner.

8.) 07 Jul 2022 16:39:57
Get rid. Buy someone else.

9.) 07 Jul 2022 17:31:27
Sell him get what he can he’s a big wage taker cut our losses and wish him the best.

10.) 07 Jul 2022 18:41:40
By all accounts he wasn't injured much last season and still only got the odd minutes here and there. Seems like a really nice guy and is a genuine talent. . But his wages and injury record. he needs to go. But if he goes some1 must come in.

{Ed014's Note - he’s always been hit and miss, exactly the same for us and I was glad to see the back of him.

11.) 07 Jul 2022 18:50:23
He was a huge miss in the CL final against Madrid after he got injured. Not been the same player since. This season I think he had his chances and failed to take them. Time to move him on. But if not a good squad and cup player.

12.) 07 Jul 2022 18:53:33
Tommy, Ox was injury free all last season mate. He just wasn’t selected much outside of Jan when Salah and Mane were away and he didn’t react well when he was hooked against Forest in March. Which were actually his last minutes of the season despite us playing more or less every 3 days for 2 months after.

13.) 07 Jul 2022 19:11:51
The whole Ox is injury prone has been debunked royally cos he has been fit for the better part of the last 2 seasons now. Now as to whether he is a quality player? No, he’s not. Does he gave some qualities? Of course cos he wouldn’t be here. Should we sell? If a good offer comes then, sure BUT if not then we keep him and let him go on a free in 20223.

14.) 07 Jul 2022 21:03:22
I think he will go this window to be honest. We have some quality youngsters who can cover the minutes he plays in my opinion.
Far more beneficial in the long run to give the time he would usually get between the likes of Jones, Elliott and Carvallho. Plus we will make some money back to use on another player.

15.) 07 Jul 2022 21:12:15
Tommy, Ox was fit nearly all of last season. He just wasn't picked.

16.) 08 Jul 2022 01:29:28
@LverpoolFC8 - best post of the year so far. You’ve created the title for this and all future transfer windows “Get rid. Buy someone else. ” Absolutely brilliant, made me laugh out loud.

17.) 08 Jul 2022 08:47:28
Name one player at Liverpool who isn't a quality player.
Ox can be improved upon for sure, his number of appearances while being fit last season bear testament to that. Klopp must have some reservations about him or he would have used him during the ton of games we had.
I doubt he'll be here after next season so folks will have to double down on hating Keita to get rid of their ire.

18.) 08 Jul 2022 09:06:32
@flashthered. That's easy Nabby ox and if salahs form continues in to this season you can add him also.

19.) 08 Jul 2022 09:18:36
In fairness to be a pro footballer you have to be a quality footballer and that includes outside of LFC.

What I meant but probably didn’t articulate very well was that there’s lots of different levels of quality these players are at and Ox isn’t near our star performers or consistent ones.

Over the last 2 seasons Klopp has chosen to give Ox just over a thousand minutes of league football which equates to 11 and a half games from 76 which is 14%.

I could have included the Cups but our 2 star performers in the cups last season have just been sold or released so that shows where Klopps bread and butter is and to include the CL just brings that 14% down.

I’d be more than happy to see the Ox stay but looking from outside to in for the last 2 months of the season he was bottom choice forward/ midfielder in the pecking order and didn’t play a single minute from March despite being something like the 8-10th reported best paid player in the squad.

What he gets paid as zero bearing on me but I’m sure it does on FSG when it comes to his renewal and future.

After all how many successful business’s pay massive wages to employees who hardly contribute (not his fault he’s not getting picked but he’s not) .

Perhaps if he wants a high wage for little work he should put his name in the hat to be the next Prime Minister.

20.) 08 Jul 2022 10:53:16
I was not proposing to give Ox a new contract this summer but considered whether keeping him for 12 months and monitoring his game time and performances made financial sense. If he performs to a high standard then look at his contract next summer or leave for free. If he was to leave this window we need a replacement. But as we know Jurgen does not buy stop gaps and the chance of Jude coming this window is remote. I bet someone out there has already penned a Beatles song in preparation.

21.) 09 Jul 2022 08:23:40
Keep Ox. He wasn’t Stevie G last season lol but it is easily forgotten that he did a fair job stepping in for the cups as a senior player and also during AFCON. Not finished for me but he does need a run of games.

Just back from 2 weeks in Lanzarote. I love watching Liverpool play in glorious sunshine with a few cold beers. Bit disappointing that it coincided with an international break. Only saw the Watford game.

Best game watched abroad was 2019 semi final against Barcelona in Lanzarote. My wife who hates football telling me to calm down I was making a fool of myself.
Next best 12 months earlier same bar for Roma second leg. Hard to believe we were 5-0 up at Anfield and finished 7-6. Roma had a goalkeeper that day, I think his name was Alison Becker. Whatever happened to him.
The there was the annual slaughtering of Norwich by Luis Suarez.

Gaga

1.) 07 Apr 2022 09:47:17
Is he the keeper who let 5 in against Liverpool?

2.) 07 Apr 2022 10:53:38
That's him but I seem to remember that he's moved onto a bigger and better club with far SUPERIOR player's 😁.

3.) 07 Apr 2022 11:07:54
I remember some on here being sceltical about us signing that bloke just cos he conceded 7 against us in a CL semi final tie. Pretty sure he has soothed their concerns since then.

17 Mar 2022 11:19:03
Alison and Ederson both Brazilians tied on 16 clean sheets for the Golden Glove.

Gaga

1.) 17 Mar 2022 13:04:52
Ali's played less games i reckon.

2.) 17 Mar 2022 13:54:24
That is the only place where they are on par with each other.

3.) 17 Mar 2022 16:28:07
Ederson is a good keeper in fairness. He’s a weaker shot stopper and not as commanding as Ali but i’d rather have him than a goalie like Mendy or de Gea. They are fraudulent goalies that look far better than they really are by playing in such negative teams. They’d get absolutely mauled if asked to play in a team with a high line, yet so many people cream their kecks at the sight of a goalie flying across the goal to make an easy save. Does my head in.

{Ed077's Note - are you saying DDG isn't a very good shot stopper? Really?

4.) 17 Mar 2022 17:01:16
Aw as LFC fans we’re not allowed to compliment players from other teams.

5.) 17 Mar 2022 17:53:38
@JK 😁😁 It’s a shame really because I think both Emerson and Mandy are pretty good. It helps that they are playing in good teams of course but both of them are useful at stopping the ball from going into the net which is what they are supposed to do. I was saying the other day that I thought DDG wasn’t at the standard he was a few years back but with Wan Bissaka, Varanne, Maguire and Shaw in front of him you have to cut him a bit of slack.

It made me laugh reading the BBC site about the England squad and the bit that said Shaw is ‘the only recognised left back in the squad’. It’s funny that he is described as a left back and it shows how lucky we are with Robbo and that mad Greek lad.

6.) 17 Mar 2022 17:57:50
I think fraudulent is a unfair on de Gea and Mendy. They're good 'keepers (well de Gea is when in the right mindset, let's not forget what his last couple of seasons before this one were like), just some way short of the level of Alisson who is an excellent keeper.

The closest thing to a 'fraudlent' goalie in the PL, in the sense that he's massively over-rated and makes unnecessary 'camera saves', is Ramsdale. Chucks himself at shots that are close enough that he could get to them far more comfortably if he just shifted his feet.

{Ed001's Note - so does Mendy. He is exactly the same as Ramsdale.}

7.) 17 Mar 2022 18:33:33
I do not understand the hype around Ederson. He is excellent with his feet but I can think of at least 3 errors off the top of my head (Salah in 2018, Son in 2019 and Mctominay in 2020) that's without even really looking.

He constantly makes errors but never ever seems to get the treatment Alisson gets for making the odd 1. He is a poor shot stopper. Cannot command his area at all.

People comparing him to Alisson are delusional. He rarely faces any shots which is why he is always in the run in for Golden Gloves.

8.) 17 Mar 2022 18:48:31
Ramsdale is a joke, Ali catches half the shots he fingertips over the bar for dramatic effect.
Crazy how the press seem to love his Oscar winning performances?

9.) 17 Mar 2022 19:30:42
On Alison one thing does concern me. He does control the ball well but waits until the very last second to release the ball when pressed by an opponent. I just feel he risks a bad injury if the striker lunges at him.

10.) 17 Mar 2022 21:43:47
The thing about Alisson is apart from the risks he takes at times with his passing, he’s actually boring to watch. He just saves with no frills that it makes it look like the shots he faced aren’t that good anyway.

But that’s where hai greatness lies. His anticipation; positioning, reaction is so great that he hardly has to make that full body stretch and flying in the sky dives. And I think at this point I’m expecting, rather than hoping, he saves in 1 to 1s. He’s that good. And will be shocked when he gets beaten as his near post.

I’ve never seen Ray Clemence play but I guess we finally have a keeper at this level? That he shocks you most of the time not by what he saves but by what he did not save, because they are that good that when beaten, you wonder, how could it have been? It should have been too easy for them.

Sgynwa, and that is the greatest compliment you could pay to Ali. He is boring and that is exactly the way I like my GK to be.

Any opinions on Nabys' challenge on Chalobah. He was slated by Jimmy and two Jamies on Sky. Personaly I though it was a 50/ 50 challenge. Maybe rose tinted glasses. Perhaps a view from unbiased Ed.

1.) 28 Feb 2022 12:18:47
I wouldn't listen to any ex-player turned pundit. For me it was 50/ 50 all day long. Both of them had their legs up and Naby couldn't control his leg on the way back down. Never listen to pundits mate👍.

2.) 28 Feb 2022 12:32:38
Pundits have agenda, OP. For me, they both went in studs showing and the ref let it go. Let the players play, me thinks.

3.) 28 Feb 2022 12:38:29
In the interest of fairness as we’ve all complained about City the last few days, I thought it was a definite red.

Absolutely shocking challenge and reckless. If that challenge was against one of our players I’d have been fuming. It was a 50/ 50 but Keita clearly slows down and backs out from going for the ball in case he got hurt which led to him making contact with the player.

But less I say on Keita the better, I know we have a few who love him on here.

4.) 28 Feb 2022 13:14:15
On another day, another ref., the call could have easily gone the other way. Same with Matip's disallowed goal (how often do we see obscure reasons being cited by VAR to justify decisions? ) Something that VAR was supposed to address and solve. Instead it has done absolutely nothing aside from shifting blame on the ref to the guys behind screens looking at slow motion videos.

8.) 28 Feb 2022 13:34:35
Agree with Josh. If Chalobah studs Keita between the legs we're all screaming red card.

But, moving on, I'm still delirious with having another trophy in the cabinet.

9.) 28 Feb 2022 13:34:38
Is this Groundhog day 🤔.

10.) 28 Feb 2022 13:48:15
Not a red. But definitely a yellow. There were many yellows not given yesterday. Thought the ref let way too much go in general.

Side note, how much time did Chelsea players spend rolling around on the floor getting treatment? Also, I am sure at one point the ref stopped the game for Reece getting a ball in the ghoulies but not even going down.

11.) 28 Feb 2022 13:54:42
I was starting to worry, Barry!
Hope you're good, mate.
Hope you're good, mate.

12.) 28 Feb 2022 13:56:59
Is this Groundhog day?

13.) 28 Feb 2022 13:58:26
I thought it was dangerous on Challobahs side as Naby nearly twisted an ankle on his undercarriage!

14.) 28 Feb 2022 14:17:25
So Kieta slowed down to avoid contact and getting hurt thus then causing him to make contact.

The lads just started in a team that’s won us our first domestic cup in a while. Surely he’s earned at least 1 day of not being slated by his own fans.

15.) 28 Feb 2022 14:22:27
I thought we'd have no chance when Keita didn't get sent off.
Bloody ref!

16.) 28 Feb 2022 15:08:45
At the time I thought he was lucky. Only thing I can say is that they both came in high and chalaboh came in quite fast and it seemed like Naby pulled out a bit and caught him as he was coming down.

I would have understood a red given he caught him high with his studs and you’ve seen them given. Deserved at least a yellow.

17.) 28 Feb 2022 15:26:44
I think it’s clearly the right decision to leave it no cards on both sides.

Both players were reckless and neither got the ball. The Chelsea lad was worse off for it, but that doesn’t mean he was any less reckless than Keita was. Two players giving it their all and trying to win the ball. Glad the ref didn’t ruin an excellent game, and not just because I’m a red.

That being said, Had the Chelsea lad won the ball, then we could’ve had fewer complaints if Keita were sent off. I could at least understand it then.

18.) 28 Feb 2022 15:32:21
It was a 50/ 50 challenge but Keita clearly slows down.
Joshke91, do you realise you were watching a slow motion replay.
It is funny how a pundit makes a comment and people jump on to it and claim it as their own.

19.) 28 Feb 2022 16:04:35
Gaga I said it at the time and didn’t even watch post match analysis. Keita did what he always does. Attempts to look like he is going into a 50/ 50 to win the ball without actually having any real desire to do so. If he had actually gone for the ball and the challenge was mistimed he would have ended up studding Chabolah in the shin or dare I say it actually winning a challenge.

Thanks though for your input.

20.) 28 Feb 2022 16:14:44
Genuinely thought he was going to get a red. As we’ve seen them given for less. But, equally, fair play for getting stuck in putting his boot in.

21.) 28 Feb 2022 16:42:21
Josh football should always be about opinions. For me Chalobahs' boot was also high. If we all agreed all of the time sites like this would not work. Sorry about the sarcastic line about slow motion replay.

22.) 28 Feb 2022 16:52:20
I agree that it was a 50/ 50 and they both went studs up but at the end of the day only 1 player ended up connecting so I do think Keita, and we, got very lucky.

23.) 28 Feb 2022 17:19:42
Both went in high and full blooded and if Naby pulled out of it then, it can’t be a red esp with the way the ref was letting other atrocities go unpunished without as much as a talking to.

24.) 28 Feb 2022 18:24:53
Josh you gave yourself away with your last sentence. You don’t like Keita we get it so you have an agenda against him.
For me if you send Keita off then you have to send Chaloba off too as both of them did exactly the same thing. It’s only the angle they went in at that meant Chaloba got caught and Keita didn’t but you can’t punish the result it’s the action that is reckless regardless of the end result.
Nothing to see here apart from pundits trying to make themselves relevant by revving up the usual sheep who blindly believe everything they say.

25.) 28 Feb 2022 19:04:35
Thanks goodness Keita realised that he was about to risk injuring an opponent and getting a red card so he slowed down to take away the force from the challenge. The contact was high I'm sure the force was reduced due to Keita slowing down.

There are too many haters against him here. Can't support a player when he starts a cup final at 10 minute notice, plays quite well against top midfield opponents, and wins a cup. Give us a break.

26.) 28 Feb 2022 19:41:53
Beckers pecker maybe unlike yourself I actually have the self control to look at a situation impartially despite my feelings about someone.

If Keita had been caught by their player I would have said it’s a red. Fact of the matter is that yes they both went for the ball, chabolah got it whilst Keita did not. Maybe no bad intent but challenge was reckless and dangerous.

Stop being so deluded, if a player made that challenge on one of our players and didn’t get sent off and we then lost the game everyone on this site would be up in arms. Or was everyone ok with pickfords challenge last year because he went for the ball?

{Ed025's Note - hard to argue with that josh..

27.) 28 Feb 2022 20:22:37
On the plus side he wasn't the only Chelsea player to get a whack in the plumbs :D.

28.) 28 Feb 2022 20:36:04
When did I say anything about going for the ball Josh? I said they both did exactly the same thing so if one of them was sent off then so should the other.
I hate it when people compare a completely different event trying to make out it has some relevance to a current argument. Pickford’s challenge was totally different he launched himself at VVD who had the ball. If VVD had launched himself at Pickford in the same fashion at the same time then yes 100% he should’ve been sent off too.
The fact is Chalobah was just as reckless as Keita so how can you just punish Keita? The ref got it spot on it was 6 or one and half a dozen of the other.
You quite clearly don’t like Keita so to claim you are impartial is just a joke.

29.) 28 Feb 2022 20:42:27
Grrrrr - Keita chickens out of challenges
Grrrrr - Keita went in high for a dangerous challenge.

What a way to celebrate a cracking game.

30.) 28 Feb 2022 21:14:18
Flash, damned if he dies and damned if he doesn’t. Like Beckers said, a storm in a tea cup really. Both guys went in studs up on a 50/ 50 ball and Keita pulled out and Chalobah got caught.

It happens hence, nothing to see here except for the pundits trying to justify why Chelsea lost instead of actually blaming their “penalty specialist” GK for sending the ball into orbit instead of hitting the darn target. I hear the ball will take a while to re-enter the Earth’s orbit cis that’s how hard Keita launched it.

31.) 28 Feb 2022 23:13:24
It’s nice that we found something to slag Naby off for- doesn’t actually feel like the day after our match (all our matches) if someone doesn’t find fault with something he did or didn’t do. I. ’m surprised nobody has mentioned his disciplinary record - after all it would have been the 6th time he’d have been sent off this season for recklessness…. oh no, hang on

Anyway, yet again, as a fan, I thought the whole 120 minutes and shoot out was brilliant entertainment and I’m hoping to have my finger nails grown back for the 2nd leg of the CL match (another Wednesday night CL match at Anfield 👍👍)

32.) 28 Feb 2022 23:58:41
Lads/ girls, Gaga, like you say, it's all about opinion. Like you rightly say, if we all agreed with everything this site doesn't work. At the end of the day we all share the same love and we should all respect each others opinion. After all, there are far more serious things happening in Eastern Europe to get wound up about stuff that really isn't important.

24 Feb 2022 10:51:44
Joels' goal last night means Liverpool have equalled their record of 17 different goal scorers in a season. Come on Alisson let's make it 18 and beat the record.

Gaga

1.) 24 Feb 2022 11:39:14
Looking at the stats I think there’s a great chance of Elliot, Konate and Milner adding to that list also.

The way we’re going Bobby could finish our 15th highest scorer.

2.) 24 Feb 2022 14:10:20
Elliott already has scored. i would expect on of our young ones to score or maybe tsimi to score.

3.) 24 Feb 2022 14:11:48
Elliot scored already and it was a cracker.

4.) 24 Feb 2022 14:19:49
Guys my bad I miss read the OP. I thought it said 17 different league scorers this season.

5.) 24 Feb 2022 14:35:27
17 different PL scorers.
19 in all comps - Elliot and Gordon scored in the cups.

£25m for Bobby who is 30 and has one year left on his contract. Would seem to be similar offer we accepted for Sadio Mane. I don't believe we will receive an offer near to £25m for Bobby. For that reason I would keep him for at least another year and way up the options based on his appearances and performances.

How did Paul Merson keep his slot on Saturdays when Sky had the big cull. He was the worst pundit of all. He struggles to pronounce players names. Can't help but think he was retained due to his issues. If that is the case maybe I am being a bit harsh.
