Hi edds
Seen reports that Spurs maybe bidding for Dominic Solanke. Am I right we had a clause inserted in the deal for a percentage of any future profit Bournemouth might receive. Just wondering if there is an agreed process on how it is paid or does it change from situation to situation.
Think it is going to be a quiet day for you edds with litttle in the way of transfers.

Gaga

{Ed002's Note - It may have expired by now and I don't have the time to check the TMS right now, but there was a sell on clause on any profit over and above the original transfer fee and costs paid by Bournemouth at the time.}

1.) 31 Jan 2024 16:20:36
Thanks for responding Ed002.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

2.) 01 Feb 2024 11:03:40
Don’t think Bournemouth would sell Solanke right now.

3.) 01 Feb 2024 21:00:20
Ed002, who would typically have to the TMS? Is it something you could access with a membership fee or is it a closed system that only people involved in football are given log in details?

{Ed002's Note - It is not available to the general public.}

4.) 02 Feb 2024 11:12:55
From what I can gather we have a sell on clause that would give us some percentage if he were to be sold but as for a buy back I'm pretty sure we only have a first refusal or something like that, nothing that would force Bournemouth to sell to us for a specific fee. I'd prefer him to Gakpo and would add to our home-grown but I doubt he'd want to be second fiddle to Nunez.

Hello Eds
Seen reports Liverpool have contacted Fulham regarding the availability of Antonee Robinson. I know we are now a bit short at left back due to injuries, but to have 3 recognised players in that position would seem over kill. Or can Robinson fill in in other positions as well.
Cheers Eds Thanks for all your efforts and best wishes for the New Year. Even Ed025.

Gaga

{Ed002's Note - Antonee Robinson (LB) Fulham may be open to selling but only have loanee Ballo-Touré as cover and no clear targers. The fended off the interest on Marseille and Newcastle in the summer by pricing him at €45M. I am not aware of an approach from Liverpool but a deal perhaps involving Carvalho and cash may work. The issue for the player will be the long-term - will he be a replacement for Tsimikas and back up to Robertson? If so, game time becomes problematic.}

1.) 31 Dec 2023 11:28:16
Should go in ahead of both Robertson and Tsimikas, he would be our long term successor to Robertson who I would sell to recoup some money, only my opinion though. He was fantastic when he played against us.

2.) 31 Dec 2023 11:18:15
My thoughts also Ed. Unless Liverpool look to move Tsimikas on game time will be very limited. It sounds from your response that the rumour is not based on any real substance.

3.) 31 Dec 2023 11:36:38
We can alway sell Tsimikas of course and robo can’t play forever.

4.) 31 Dec 2023 14:51:21
He’s three years younger than Robbo, and not half as good.

5.) 31 Dec 2023 15:28:15
In another post Ed mentioned Daley blind. It was a bit tounge in cheek but maybe an insight into the kind of player we could do with, he's 33 plays lb, cb and DM. 3 positions we need cover be it due to injuries or youngsters still developing. He has played with the Dutch contingent played in the prem, and his versatility means he can get game time. A 2 year deal could provide us with another milner type player. That should allow bajetic to grow into the role in mid and then we should be looking at vvd replacement in 2 years.
If we're getting a younger DM Martín Zubimendi Ibáñez for me. Lol
And a, quick question Ed if I may, I've asked the question to few mates and some support other clubs, but why has Wilfred ndidi not been taken by anyone, he had great stats for a couple of seasons in prem and money spent on the likes of lavia seems datt in comparison?

{Ed002's Note - There have been interested sides but he and the club have been happy with their lot.}

6.) 31 Dec 2023 17:31:34
My nephew (another rabid red) bumped into Ndidi in a shop in Leicester the other day, said he was very friendly and polite.
He didn't think to ask him about playing for Liverpool though which might have gotten an interesting response.

7.) 31 Dec 2023 17:41:31
At 26 in a position and a game style of pace requirement I suspect a “long term” replacement he’d not be!

8.) 31 Dec 2023 17:46:33
We were trying to get red of Tsimikas and Robertson can't go on forever! So he will be the long term replacement for Robertson i suppose. Which would be great as he is a very good LB.

9.) 31 Dec 2023 17:51:19
Robinson is a great athlete but not convinced he’s a long term successor to Robbo. The lad Kerkez at Bournemouth and Ait-Nouri are the ones to watch.

10.) 31 Dec 2023 16:36:02
Cheers Ed. And I see carvalho has been recalled today from loan. Looks like your right and a deal with Fulham is getting lined up. His position were well covered, question is him and cash for their LB or DM? I'm referring to a previous answer u gave to their lb.

11.) 31 Dec 2023 19:25:52
Seems very short term. He’s been one of the best left backs in the league this season but i think he just plays that Tsimikas role of playing when Robbonis out. We should be bringing in a younger player to overtake Robertson. Davies at Bayern the dream but would be very hard. Any of the Eds know who are seen as the best young left backs around? Barco at Boca Juniors I’ve heard is great but never seen. Ait-Nouiri at Wolves looks good.

{Ed002's Note - There is serious interest in Alphonso Davies from a couple of clubs but Bayern are working on a new contract. Aït-Nouri has attracted interest from a couple of sides but his agent has a clear future mapped out in his mind already. Barco is already part of discussions for a move, potentially even in January. David Raum, Pervis Estupinan, Luca Netz and Alejandro Balde are all very well respected Left Backs.}

12.) 01 Jan 2024 19:44:06
Two good shouts Pelican, like the look of Kerkez meself and Ait Nouiri always impresses against us.

Regarding last nights game. Firstly did we deserve a draw, well not in my opinion. So the disallowed goal. I thought that if the ball richochet of the body onto the upper arm it is not handball. Also the length of time between the incident and the goal seems quite lengthy. Did the VAR carry the footage on till the goal to allow the ref to judge the timing. Also I am sure the ref pointed to the centre circle to give the goal before going to the VAR screen.

Gaga

1.) 10 Nov 2023 11:11:30
I never understand this comment of 'we didn't deserve a draw anyway. ' pretty sure if you score the same amount of goals as the opposition, you deserve the result.

2.) 10 Nov 2023 11:18:21
It’s ruined any excitement or enjoyment in a game I have loved for nearly 30 years.

Drop it for subjective calls and keep it for when the ref wants to use it, his call if he wants to check something. It should be an assistance not making us all wait 5 minutes to find a reason for a goal not to stand.

I thought last night the ball hit his chest then his hand, it certainly isn’t a clear and obvious error and no where near effecting the goal. I think they had a chance to clear in between so why they went so far back is a mystery.

VAR isn’t working and needs to change but it won’t whilst clubs are happy when it’s in their favour but cry when it’s not. Us included. Call it as it is and all football fans need to band together and fix our sport.

3.) 10 Nov 2023 11:32:09
So the disallowed goal. I thought that if the ball richochet of the body onto the upper arm it is not handball

Got one against spurs in the CL final.

4.) 10 Nov 2023 13:13:27
Seriously Stuie
There are games when you can play poorly and win. Then there are games when you play poorly and lose. Do you really think that performance last night deserves a point. If you do then you have set a very low bar.
Oh and by the way we didn't score the same amount of goals as them. Bear in mind our first goal was an OG and they had 2 further goals disallowed by VAR.
Would you be happy playing like that week in and week out but getting draws. Even Jurgen agreed that we did not deserve anything.

5.) 10 Nov 2023 13:19:47
I think in the Spurs game it hit both body and arm at the same time. Also taking the ball towards the goal.

6.) 10 Nov 2023 14:02:39
Gaga, we deserved the loss, 100% IMO. >Toulouse played better than we did and the embarrassing thing was that they did not have to do anything extraordinary cos we were playing right into their hands tactically and our attitude and body language stank, IMO. Hats off to them.

On the other hand, it is possible that we could have stole a point cos we know your performance does not equal a win, loss or draw. You can play well and loss ab play terrible and win or draw. The VAR did a doo-doo on Quansah's goal cos based on UEFA's own handball rule, if the ball hits you chest first and then your arm, it is not handball. They changesd the rule after the CL final when we beat Spurs. The goal should have stood even tho, we were terrible.

7.) 10 Nov 2023 15:45:20
Agree OliRed
I am sure we have all watched games, Stuie included, when we have either won or drawn and thought we got away with one there. The telling comment you made was "that we could have stolen a point. And this was with what was on paper a decent line up.

8.) 10 Nov 2023 16:09:26
Gaga, I agree. the linup on paper wasn't bad overall. the issue was that they did not seem to have any intention applying themselves and match the intensity Toulouse was bringing all game and we got battered esp. in terms of actual play and trus me, 3-2 flattered us cos it coulda/ shoulda been worse.

And one more thing. Hats off to the Toulouse crowd who absolutely brought it. The deserved their win and congrats to them, wholeheartedly.

9.) 10 Nov 2023 16:53:09
If our second goal stood, its a draw and by the rules, its deserved as the whole point of football is to score goals. There is no rule on how that should be done.
If the second goal stood, would you protest and refuse the point on the basis that it wasn't deserved?

{Ed025's Note - and if my aunty had balls she would be my uncle stuie.. :)

10.) 10 Nov 2023 18:07:53
Ed025 your aunty doesn't even need balls now adays to be your uncle ?.

{Ed025's Note - I never thought of that Sz. Good point mate..

11.) 10 Nov 2023 19:38:53
You are missing the point Stuie. When the Quansah goal went in I was off my chair and celebrating. I would happily have taken the point regardless of the poor performance. At no point was my thought nah give Toulouse the 3 points. But sometimes you have to admit that the performance doesn't always match the result. In this case it does because Toulouse deserved the win whether if finished 3-2 or 3-3. Come on Ed025 explain it to Stuie.

12.) 10 Nov 2023 19:41:54
By the way in an interview with Joe Gomez after the game he admitted that Liverpool didn't deserve any thing from the game. And he was playing.

13.) 10 Nov 2023 23:10:52
Gaga, Macca said the exact same thing after the game.

28 Aug 2023 10:04:03
Regarding penalties.
After watching Man City game yesterday.
So a player takes a penalty, the goal keeper saves. VAR notes the goal keeper was off the line and penalty is retaken.
Suppose the player taking the penalty sends the keeper the wrong way then sends the ball into row Z, again VAR notes the goal keeper is of the line. Does the penalty get retaken.

Gaga

1.) 28 Aug 2023 10:11:47
I would assume so, given that I'm fairly sure I've seen players miss, but the pen be retaken because of an opposition player encroaching into the penalty area.

2.) 28 Aug 2023 11:33:25
Apologies for the subject change.

Whilst we’re on questions.

Does bank holidays affect transfers?

I’m sure I read somewhere that despite window opening on Jan 1st players can’t be registered etc as it’s a holiday so was just wondering as it’s bank holiday weekend in the UK would that be the same for yesterday and today.

Sorry if it’s a silly question but just wondered.

{Ed002's Note - No they don't.}

3.) 28 Aug 2023 12:04:11
It doesn’t usually, but Schmadtke strikes me as the type of guy to make sure he gets his 28 days + bank holiday allowance. No doubt he’ll be taking a cheeky half day at some point as well, claiming his hours back for completing the Endo deal after 5pm.

4.) 28 Aug 2023 13:03:44
@SR, if a pen is retaken because of encroachment, isn't that only in the case that the encroaching player plays the ball after it was saved or rebounded off the post?

Interesting point the OP makes about a player skying the pen, but the keeper moved off his line. According to the rule of the law, it should be retaken. unless the law specifically says that a keeper must save the penalty.

5.) 28 Aug 2023 13:52:35
I'm fairly sure I saw one retaken even though the encroaching player didn't get anywhere near the ball, JLCBM, but I may be wrong.

6.) 28 Aug 2023 14:57:36
I think if the goalie is judged to have moved off his line, or if there's encroachment, the penalty is retaken. My theory on this is that that movement (whether it be the goalie advancing on the penalty taker or a player entering the box) could potentially influence how the goalie or pen taker deals with the penalty, and therefore gets ruled out., . But that is just my take on it.

19 Jan 2023 12:16:34
Get ready Eds. Being reported that Liverpool are the third richest club in the world. You will have a lot of explaining to do.

Gaga

{Ed033's Note - It's those pesky 'Liverpool FC, Asthma Conspiracy Theorists' again! i think they're the same ones who think the Earth is not a spinning globe! Surely everyone believes that water curves in swimming pools and in Australia, rain falls upwards from the clouds that's beneath everyone there. :)

1.) 19 Jan 2023 12:55:33
If Australia is real then why did we never see Harry Kewell?

2.) 19 Jan 2023 12:48:14

{Ed033's Note - No, where you are in this Realm is not the factor.

3.) 19 Jan 2023 13:08:36
Trust me, Australia is unreal.

07 Jul 2022 14:19:36
A lot of talk on social media regarding the Ox. Should we keep him or look to sell. With 12 months left on his contract he can leave for nothing. Any thoughts. What would be his current value. Quality player until his injury but hardly plays now. Would also stunt the development of the younger players in the squad. If his value is very low maybe keep him as a squad/back up player for 12 months.

Gaga

1.) 07 Jul 2022 14:30:17
I don't think he is a quality player anymore. It is the right time to sell him. Giving him a new contract would make no sense.

2.) 07 Jul 2022 15:34:34
Let him leave imo, give any of his potential minutes to a youngster and let him try, injuries permitting, get game time elsewhere.

He comes across as a nice guy and has talent. But for his wages and the fact he won't get too many minutes, it just makes sense to see if there are any takers.

I still think he will end up at Newcastle but that's based on no more then a hunch.

3.) 07 Jul 2022 15:39:44
I wouldn’t give him another contract no.

4.) 07 Jul 2022 16:31:28
This might not be a popular opinion but I think there’s a massive difference between being a quality player and giving a few quality performances.

Don’t get me wrong Ox had some quality performances for us prior to his injuries but when I think of who has been a quality player for us during the Klopp era players like Allison, Vvd, Trent, Robbo, Fab, Hendo, Bobby, Mo and Mane come to mind well over the Ox.

5.) 07 Jul 2022 17:29:29
Let him go. He needs a new environment to resurrect his career. And £15 Million sounds about right.

6.) 07 Jul 2022 17:31:27
Sell him get what he can he’s a big wage taker cut our losses and wish him the best.

7.) 07 Jul 2022 16:38:57
Last season Joel Matip was pretty much injury free and he had a really good season.

If Bobby and the Ox could have injury free seasons then we could have a couple of brilliant options to use and then we could see whether they should get new contracts.

If they decide to leave for free then that’s fine but if they play well and deserve new 2 or 3 year contracts which they take up then everyone is a winner.

8.) 07 Jul 2022 16:39:57
Get rid. Buy someone else.

9.) 07 Jul 2022 17:31:27
Sell him get what he can he’s a big wage taker cut our losses and wish him the best.

10.) 07 Jul 2022 18:41:40
By all accounts he wasn't injured much last season and still only got the odd minutes here and there. Seems like a really nice guy and is a genuine talent. . But his wages and injury record. he needs to go. But if he goes some1 must come in.

{Ed014's Note - he’s always been hit and miss, exactly the same for us and I was glad to see the back of him.

11.) 07 Jul 2022 18:50:23
He was a huge miss in the CL final against Madrid after he got injured. Not been the same player since. This season I think he had his chances and failed to take them. Time to move him on. But if not a good squad and cup player.

12.) 07 Jul 2022 18:53:33
Tommy, Ox was injury free all last season mate. He just wasn’t selected much outside of Jan when Salah and Mane were away and he didn’t react well when he was hooked against Forest in March. Which were actually his last minutes of the season despite us playing more or less every 3 days for 2 months after.

13.) 07 Jul 2022 19:11:51
The whole Ox is injury prone has been debunked royally cos he has been fit for the better part of the last 2 seasons now. Now as to whether he is a quality player? No, he’s not. Does he gave some qualities? Of course cos he wouldn’t be here. Should we sell? If a good offer comes then, sure BUT if not then we keep him and let him go on a free in 20223.

14.) 07 Jul 2022 21:03:22
I think he will go this window to be honest. We have some quality youngsters who can cover the minutes he plays in my opinion.
Far more beneficial in the long run to give the time he would usually get between the likes of Jones, Elliott and Carvallho. Plus we will make some money back to use on another player.

15.) 07 Jul 2022 21:12:15
Tommy, Ox was fit nearly all of last season. He just wasn't picked.

16.) 08 Jul 2022 01:29:28
@LverpoolFC8 - best post of the year so far. You’ve created the title for this and all future transfer windows “Get rid. Buy someone else. ” Absolutely brilliant, made me laugh out loud.

17.) 08 Jul 2022 08:47:28
Name one player at Liverpool who isn't a quality player.
Ox can be improved upon for sure, his number of appearances while being fit last season bear testament to that. Klopp must have some reservations about him or he would have used him during the ton of games we had.
I doubt he'll be here after next season so folks will have to double down on hating Keita to get rid of their ire.

18.) 08 Jul 2022 09:06:32
@flashthered. That's easy Nabby ox and if salahs form continues in to this season you can add him also.

19.) 08 Jul 2022 09:18:36
In fairness to be a pro footballer you have to be a quality footballer and that includes outside of LFC.

What I meant but probably didn’t articulate very well was that there’s lots of different levels of quality these players are at and Ox isn’t near our star performers or consistent ones.

Over the last 2 seasons Klopp has chosen to give Ox just over a thousand minutes of league football which equates to 11 and a half games from 76 which is 14%.

I could have included the Cups but our 2 star performers in the cups last season have just been sold or released so that shows where Klopps bread and butter is and to include the CL just brings that 14% down.

I’d be more than happy to see the Ox stay but looking from outside to in for the last 2 months of the season he was bottom choice forward/ midfielder in the pecking order and didn’t play a single minute from March despite being something like the 8-10th reported best paid player in the squad.

What he gets paid as zero bearing on me but I’m sure it does on FSG when it comes to his renewal and future.

After all how many successful business’s pay massive wages to employees who hardly contribute (not his fault he’s not getting picked but he’s not) .

Perhaps if he wants a high wage for little work he should put his name in the hat to be the next Prime Minister.

20.) 08 Jul 2022 10:53:16
I was not proposing to give Ox a new contract this summer but considered whether keeping him for 12 months and monitoring his game time and performances made financial sense. If he performs to a high standard then look at his contract next summer or leave for free. If he was to leave this window we need a replacement. But as we know Jurgen does not buy stop gaps and the chance of Jude coming this window is remote. I bet someone out there has already penned a Beatles song in preparation.

21.) 09 Jul 2022 08:23:40
Keep Ox. He wasn’t Stevie G last season lol but it is easily forgotten that he did a fair job stepping in for the cups as a senior player and also during AFCON. Not finished for me but he does need a run of games.

Just back from 2 weeks in Lanzarote. I love watching Liverpool play in glorious sunshine with a few cold beers. Bit disappointing that it coincided with an international break. Only saw the Watford game.

Best game watched abroad was 2019 semi final against Barcelona in Lanzarote. My wife who hates football telling me to calm down I was making a fool of myself.
Next best 12 months earlier same bar for Roma second leg. Hard to believe we were 5-0 up at Anfield and finished 7-6. Roma had a goalkeeper that day, I think his name was Alison Becker. Whatever happened to him.
The there was the annual slaughtering of Norwich by Luis Suarez.

Is he the keeper who let 5 in against Liverpool?

2.) 07 Apr 2022 10:53:38
That's him but I seem to remember that he's moved onto a bigger and better club with far SUPERIOR player's 😁.

3.) 07 Apr 2022 11:07:54
I remember some on here being sceltical about us signing that bloke just cos he conceded 7 against us in a CL semi final tie. Pretty sure he has soothed their concerns since then.

Personally I love watching Thiago. In my opinion he is the most gifted midfielder at the club. He makes football look easy. Agree his injury record is a problem. Then I suppose if a significant offer came in for him the funds and saving on salary could be used for a younger more reliable midfielder.

If we move Trent into midfield do we not have Gomez and younger lads who can be used or as back-up and look for a more versatile defender. By the very nature generally defenders are not as costly as midfield players.

If my memory serves me I believe Staunton was sold to fit in with foreign player rules. As Scottish, Welsh and Irish players were considered foreign back then. I think we could only have 3 foreign players. Apologies if I am incorrect. Not sure who else may have been sold rather than Staunton, as it generally agreed he was a very good defender.
