Hi Eds/ reds.
Some months ago Ed002 said that there was a proposal that if the league be cancelled after 50% of games, the team top would win / PPG would be applied.
I have tried searching, both this site and the wider Web and cannot find what final decision was taken.

Ed002, or anyone else, do we know what happens if they cancel the season, both before and after 50% of games are played?

Ghostgoal

{Ed002's Note - That proposal remains on the table but clubs do not want to vote on it or indeed discuss it further as they want the season finished.}

1.) 29 Dec 2020 18:25:21
Rumour mill going into overdrive that the league is discussing a 2 week break to stop the increase in positive tests.

2.) 29 Dec 2020 18:32:41
Explains why I couldn't find the answer then, cheers Ed.

Seems fairly short sighted to me, they're talking about a 2 week break now, I think if they do have that, it's likely to end up being far longer than 2 weeks.

3.) 29 Dec 2020 18:37:42
Ed002 seen something online about a two week cooling off period, do you think its likely?

It make sense cases have definitely increased within teams and their safety has to come first. They did so well in the resumption of last season but it seems teams are now starting to struggle.

Also what's the likelihood of the lower leagues being postponed as they seem to be hit hard with it.

{Ed002's Note - There will be another lockdown I am sure. The impact will become clearer later in the season as preparations are made for the Euros - the lower divisions want crowds and to finish their seasons to help survive.}

4.) 29 Dec 2020 19:03:42
Still think they should have cancelled the euros really given how bad this is across most of Europe.

5.) 29 Dec 2020 19:28:39
I think the powers that be will have to choose between club football and international football I don’t see we can have both?

6.) 29 Dec 2020 21:02:01
Acered, you cannot have international football without club football. Where would the players train, get match fit, work day to day?

7.) 29 Dec 2020 21:57:18
Crazy rescheduling the Euros as it meant all the league competitions got compressed into a shorter space of time. League football is the lifeblood of the sport, UEFA have just been really dumb here.

8.) 29 Dec 2020 22:44:22
Never have, never will be bothered about international footy. If I had to choose between England winning the world cup and Liverpool winning the fairly pointless league cup, it's a no brainer. I'd rather watch a Trump press conference than Harry Kane lift a trophy.

9.) 30 Dec 2020 05:55:36
Ghostgoal I mean this season whilst there is a C.V.

If money was not an issue and we had space in our squad (I know neither are true, this is a purely hypothetical question, before the doom-mongers come and shoot this post down) would anyone take Deli Alli? Seems to be unwanted at Spurs but all that potential he burst onto the scene with is still there, somewhere. He's still young and I would loved to have seen what Klopp could have gotten out of him.

Ghostgoal

1.) 20 Sep 2020 11:59:47
I’m not sure what his best position is mate and couldn’t see where he would play for us.

2.) 20 Sep 2020 12:09:24
Really don’t see where he would fit stylistically in a team like ours as goalscoring number 10. Maybe if he was moulded into the Firmino role but he seems to be on a path to not realising his potential, whether Klopp could change that i do not know.

3.) 20 Sep 2020 12:15:19
I like him but have the feeling he has peaked already. Shame he hasn't had the chance to play under klopp as quite possibly he would be tearing up the league with goals and assists.

4.) 20 Sep 2020 12:16:22
I would have taken him a lot of years back when he cost £5 million, got a few good seasons out of him and then we could have sold him for what will still be good money for him. Other than that, no 😀.

5.) 20 Sep 2020 12:29:04
Have you seen the spurs inside documentary? If a top class coach like mourinho can’t get the guy to train properly then I don’t think Klopp can. Looks like he's lost the hunger.

6.) 20 Sep 2020 12:36:49
Did you see the documentary on spurs a while back. Jose was calling him lazy, he looked well hacked off.

Hes been poor for a while. I reckon he needs a change of club. Not sure if i would want him though.

7.) 20 Sep 2020 12:43:11
He's played well for 3 months in the last 3 years. No.

8.) 20 Sep 2020 12:51:57
Lots of great players train terribly but the cream of the crop train obsessively.

9.) 20 Sep 2020 13:04:59
Alli is a streaky player and who goes off the boil during a couple of months 2/ 3 times during a season and we cannot be having that at LFC, IMO. Not sure where he would fit in, where he would play and in who's place. I think his best days are behind him esp at Spurs and he may need a change of club and environment. Unfortunately, not at LFC, IMO.

10.) 20 Sep 2020 14:31:22
Alli thought he'd made it after in fairness a brilliant first two or three seasons. he's been poor but that player is still there, but he seriously needs to cop on.

31 May 2020 06:03:34
Hypothetical one for you - say the game all go ahead as planned and we put the league to bed in the next 2/ 3 games, should we go all out to get the maximum points for the record?
Or, should we give some of the international lads a proper break and break-in some of the younger lads?
Option 2 has the mutual benefits of giving the likes of Salah, Mane and Firmino who are always off at international tournaments a proper break, possibly extending their careers and also gives us 5/ 6 matches to get a look at Curtis Jones, Harvey Elliot etc against proper opposition.
Thoughts?

1.) 31 May 2020 09:01:42
They’ve just had 3 months off. Probably the biggest break they will get bar injury in their careers. They will need the game time to get back to match fitness.

2.) 31 May 2020 09:01:53
Think we need to play our best team whenever possible
The time to give them games will present itself you don't have to force it imo.

3.) 31 May 2020 10:12:14
Im sure if you asked any of the players, after having the last 3 months with no football. They will all be wanting to play as much as possible.

4.) 31 May 2020 10:22:17
Play best 11 where possible, hopefully put games to bed and then bleed in youngsters towards 60/ 70 min mark. More opportunity to do so with 5 subs.

5.) 31 May 2020 10:50:40
Take it one game at a time and make the decisions where relevant. Remember, these guys have been off for 3 months and it will take a game or 3 to get back to full match sharpness and rhythm. Going for the points record? I want that too but under the circumstances, it is not the be all and end all, IMO.

6.) 31 May 2020 10:51:44
before the virus, I was all in for smashing the points record and going undefeated. one of those is gone, but the points record is still up for grabs. just to cement the dominance of this season.

after / during the virus, I couldn't care less now. hope we tie it up early then will just go with whatever the club and players desire. If I were me I'd want to get the job done then get out of there.

7.) 31 May 2020 15:47:52
Got to play the first team as much as possible as I’m guessing this will be almost a pre-season for 20/ 21 maybe with a short break before the next season starts?

29 Mar 2020 10:15:59
Slight change in tone, imagine the roar as the teams run out on the first game back?
Spine-tingling.

Ghostgoal

1.) 29 Mar 2020 11:58:48
From behind closed doors?

2.) 29 Mar 2020 12:33:57
A roar from the coaching staff and cameramen, OP?

3.) 29 Mar 2020 14:50:08
I mean, it's fairly obvious I meant the first game with fans in the ground.

A dead rubber against Kosovo and both TAA and AOC start. If either get injured I'll be pretty irritated.

For me it’s great that Ox is getting more minutes, the more the merrier but would much rather not see Trent out there.

2.) 17 Nov 2019 17:21:57
Big think for me is Hendo not playing.
If England don’t play well he gets pelters - be good for England fans too recognise what he gives

Rice and Winks non existent but of course- Hoddle hasn’t noticed that.

3.) 17 Nov 2019 20:51:45
Ox needs the minutes, OP.

4.) 17 Nov 2019 21:09:02
Agree, Ox needs mins but not the rest of the team.
As much as I disliked Fergie, he made sure his players weren’t involved in certain Internationals, Ryan Giggs in particular was withdrawn.

In terms of numbers Thiago and Minamino replace Lallana and Shaqiri. Elliott and Jones replace Gini. Were not short anywhere now numbers wise.

ArAy, that's nonsense. I, along with many others said we should have replaced Lovren long before the window shut.
We pointed out that Matip and Gomez have patchy injury records and that we have relied on VVD too much. Guess what, we were spot on and it was neither hindsight nor a lucky guess.
Not replacing Lovren was lunacy going into such an intense season, that should have been prioritised over Jota or Thiago.

Is it Rush, or Fowler?
Or Bellamy?

All three had 2 spells at the club.

Matip and Thiago will be going (surely) and both need a solid replacement.
Yes they haven't played much/ at all this season, but it's lead to the over reliance on kids which could have gone much worse.
Trent could well be the Thiago replacement in midfield with a new RB coming in to deputise to/ compete with Bradley.
We need to replace every man who leaves, either like-for-like, or With players like Trent moving positions.

JK23, I can't imagine your job is even remotely like elite level sports so the analogy doesn't work.

Ghostgoal

{Ed001's Note - exactly, the margins will be hugely different. If he is not at the top of his game I doubt it really makes a huge difference to his work. In any job that does demand peak concentration, then they will go through years of training before even beginning to do it. A brain surgeon doesn't just get handed a brain saw and scalpel and set loose to learn on the job.}

When I did it you had to have seen them all play in your life time, so I had:
Neuer

Ramos
Komany
Godin
Maldini

Gerrard
Gilberto Silva
Nedved

Messi
Drogba
Giggs.
