Ed's, has our previous significant interest in Ignacio gone? Have we burnt those bridges with his club? I understand he signed a new contract with a new buy out clause.

Gingerlfc

{Ed002's Note - Goncalo Inacio (CB) Watched by scouts from a number of PL sides, including Liverpool and Manchester United, with the latter declaring an interest. Sporting will not be keen to do business with Liverpool although the club could potentially pay his Release Clause in a single payment and try to force the situation if the player is interested. The other sides to declare an interest are Newcastle and PSG, but PSG have a plan over another player. Real Madrid offer a wildcard option. Sporting would rather not sell and are looking to a new contract and an increased release clause. Newcastle have begun talks with Sporting in order to be able to speak directly to the player and to understand if there is flexibility in the payment schedule - but it will go nowhere. Arsenal interest departed with the signing of Timber. The player has also been offered to Chelsea by his representative but they have preferred options for a long-term Silva replacement. The player is open to a move to Manchester United.}

Only the memories linger on now @Ginger.

15 Jul 2023 13:25:23
Ed's and links with Florentino Luis with Liverpool that you know off?
Thanks in advance.

Gingerlfc

{Ed002's Note - Florentino (DM) Scouts continue to watch Benfica but they have no interest in selling Florentino Luis unless his buy out clause is met. Seen by Real Madrid as a Casemiro replacement. Borussia Dortmund and Liverpool spoke with his agent last summer. Manchester City want to upgrade Kalvin Phillips and Florentino fits the bill. Benfica have said they do not intend to sell. For Liverpool he would realistically be a Fabinho replacement but they will be priced out of a move. PSG were interested a year ago but have moved on. Napoli, Arsenal and Milan offer less likely options, althogh there are ongoing discussions with Milan who need a Tonali repolacement and Benfica are now pushing hard to raise funds for a significant purchase.}

1.) 15 Jul 2023 13:39:41
Thanks again Ed.
Real possibly buying another quality midfielder ?.

2.) 15 Jul 2023 14:26:20
Well it’s looking very much like we will need a Fabinho replacement.

3.) 15 Jul 2023 14:37:07
Hey Ed002, if Milan are in discussions with Benfica then would they be willing to sell for below Luis’ release clause now? Wouldn’t have thought Milan had that sort of cash!

{Ed002's Note - Why would they sell cheap to Liverpool? They will negotiate with Milan as they are after cash and willing to sell two out of Ramos, Luis and Silva i order to add a player. Liverpool are not talking with them.}

4.) 15 Jul 2023 14:51:49
---------------Take it to the European pages-------------------

5.) 15 Jul 2023 14:54:55
I’m not suggesting they’d sell cheap to Liverpool Ed. I am asking if the fact they’re speaking to Milan about him, who presumably cannot pay anywhere near his release clause, means he’d be available for a more affordable fee should Liverpool decide to approach Benfica - as you said Liverpool would be priced out a move.

{Ed002's Note - Milan will not want to spend the full amount of the release clause and do have two players to horse frade with. If they can offload Silva and/or Ramos then they can resist a sale of Luis. None of this involves Liverpool who, if the with to look at him again, need to do as I explained.}

6.) 15 Jul 2023 15:46:06
Cool, cheers Ed.

7.) 16 Jul 2023 09:45:01
Great Post Wassa. Fully concur.

A little too much targeted sycophancy and scattergun abuse on this site, for my liking.

If we all just press the yellow button at the top of this page once in a while everyone would enjoy the experience so much more.

What the Ed's and others thoughts on Valverde joining?
I see he's been linked in recent weeks/ months (we've held a long term interest) but is he a genuine target that could happen in the next window or 2?

Bellinghams price is rising by the month seemingly and with Reals interest and our current difficulties can we attract/ afford him?
If not Valverde seems to be be a pretty strong option.

Thoughts?

Gingerlfc

{Ed002's Note - Federico Valverde (CM) Real Madrid are not looking to sell the player, previously of interest to Liverpool and Manchester United, as they expect him to settle in as a regular as Modric and Kroos are coming to the end of their RM careers. Real Madrid are are aware Bayern Munich see him as an option - but it would take a huge offer for that to happen. Manchester City have sent scouts to look at him as they look to add to their Central Midfield options. Liverpool interest will have shifted and Manchester United have alternate targets in mind - but could return if others are not viable, but a move seems unlikely. Newcastle offer an very unlikely wildcard option.}

1.) 07 Oct 2022 16:09:50
Many thanks Ed02 on your thoughts/ info.

2.) 07 Oct 2022 17:56:01
He’s a player we really should bust a gut for, can do the absolute lot. Never seen him have a bad game.

3.) 07 Oct 2022 18:25:23
Brilliant player.

4.) 07 Oct 2022 19:45:38
Valverde 10x better than Bellingham.

5.) 07 Oct 2022 20:24:28
Really no answer to that.

6.) 07 Oct 2022 20:57:55
Acted, genuine question - in your opinion, what are the ways that Valverde is 10 times better than Bellingham?

7.) 07 Oct 2022 22:44:27
10 times better? No, but I think Valverde is a better all round midfielder as he can actually defend.

8.) 08 Oct 2022 03:38:12
Which one plays better in a 4 3 3 set up? Which one of them has the best character fit to what Klopp wants in the squad? I resume you mean Valverde would be a better option at 6 than Bellingham? So why not play Valverde at 6 and Bellingham at 8? I know nothing about either of them (I’ve only seen them on the telly) but I’m reassured that we have expert knowledge of them on the forum.

9.) 08 Oct 2022 08:31:50
Why would he leave Madrid and move to us? Why?

10.) 08 Oct 2022 13:43:38
He's probably Real's most important player at the moment, alongside Vini Jr. Is it even a possibility for him to move on?

As a player he, alongside Barella, is the a near perfect option for the right no8 position.

Valverde has the ability to play no6, but I am not sure that is his best position. He's the best right no8 around right now.

08 Jun 2022 08:47:22
Wasn't it last summer we were showing interest in Florian Neuhaus?
Is he no longer an option/ of interest?
Thanks.

Gingerlfc

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have continued to watch him.}

1.) 08 Jun 2022 18:00:31
Wasn't he in Kraftwerk? We do need more NUMBERS in our side.

04 Jun 2022 11:43:35
Tammy Abraham is videoed telling Trent that he's coming to us next season.
Not sure how serious he is. Do any of the Ed's know if there's anything to this?

He's 24.
Has scored goals in the c/ ship, the Prem and now Serie A.

Gingerlfc

{Ed002's Note - There is no agreement for TA to join Liverpool next season.}

1.) 04 Jun 2022 11:50:42
It was tongue in cheek because of how many goals Trent created in the training session. Abraham would be a good signing though. I can't believe Chelsea sold him in favour of Havertz, Werner and Lukaku. He's better than all 3 of them.

{Ed001's Note - he really is not.}

2.) 04 Jun 2022 11:51:16
Would like to see that video.

3.) 04 Jun 2022 11:53:17
Thanks for the response.
Has Liverpool shown any recent interest in the player?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool ever showing interest in the player.}

4.) 04 Jun 2022 11:55:08
hi eds, no agreement maybe but is there any interest.
i know we will be after a high profile signing to replace sadio and while i don't see a need to replace origi as we would have 5 attackers, reading between the lines is there any interest in maybe abraham or watfords joao pedro.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool ever showing interest in the player and Joao Pedro is in discussions with another club.}

5.) 04 Jun 2022 12:11:05
MK he’s not better than Havertz, you’re having a laugh there mate. Havertz is a far superior footballer in every aspect of his game.

He didn’t actually say he was coming here, seemed more like a throwaway remark.

6.) 04 Jun 2022 12:12:14
It'd be a strange one, he's very limited in his playing positions which Liverpool normally eschew, but he needs barely a sniff at goal to score, he gets into dangerous positions with barely any support but contributes nothing to the counter-press Liverpool use . On the face of it a very expensive Origi replacement.

7.) 04 Jun 2022 12:44:34
I'm not having Havertz at all as a striker; midfielder maybe. Werner gets dizzy in the penalty box. Lukaku's attitude/ fitness is a disgrace.

I'd take Abraham all day if i'm picking one to lead the line.

{Ed001's Note - Abraham is just the same as Lukaku.}

8.) 04 Jun 2022 13:23:53
He’s an average striker playing at his level in Rome. Not sure what anyone sees in him.

Havertz is phenomenal and a player I wish we had at LFC.

9.) 04 Jun 2022 13:38:00
I personally think Havertz is the perfect Bobby replacement and would excel in that role under Jurgen.

A very intelligent footballer being stifled somewhat by Tuchel’s preference for boring football.

{Ed001's Note - I agree sm, he is a very good player. Unlike Abraham, who can trap a ball further than most of us can kick it.}

10.) 04 Jun 2022 13:57:44
Havertz as a false nine would be a revelation in Klopp’s system, he’s quick, skilful, has tremendous vision and his first touch is exceptional. He’s also decent in the air too. Just a shame we’ll never see him in a Liverpool shirt.

11.) 04 Jun 2022 16:25:08
I always feel that there is a lack of effort from Havertz, good player but can produce a lot more than he does.

12.) 04 Jun 2022 16:41:45
I agree with Mighty Reds. I've never seen anybody describe Havertz as quick before this thread and I reckon Ian Rush would still press more even now.

I can see the Lukaku comparison ability wise but the difference is that Abraham isn't a stone overweight.

13.) 04 Jun 2022 16:01:43
Ed001. I love it. Abraham can trap a ball further than most of us can kick it. Comedy gold. I trust you are not a fan?

{Ed001's Note - not in the slightest.}

14.) 04 Jun 2022 20:13:50
Ed001, that’s Graham Potter and Havertz we’ve agreed on now. Quick say something nasty about me before people starting talking about us…. ;)

Although I reckon we’d definitely see a different output from Havertz were here under a progressive thinking coach like Potter and not a 0-0 merchant in Tuchel.

{Ed001's Note - exactly. Ooops another agreement.}

15.) 04 Jun 2022 21:09:47
I'd take pulisic. Think under klopp he'd flourish and there's maybe a chance of that actually happening compared to havertz.

16.) 04 Jun 2022 21:31:10
Havertz can play anywhere. One of the most naturally talented players in the world.

He would be perfect for LFC.

17.) 05 Jun 2022 00:13:17
Just want to admire Ed001's response regarding Abraham's ability to trap a ball. that's got to go into some type of "Hall of Fame" comments. as is soo fitting. legend
👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼.

18.) 05 Jun 2022 01:38:41
Havertz actually does press quite intently imo. He does have that sort of Ozil/ Berbatov air about him, and he’s definitely not a Kante/ Henderson but he definitely busts a gut getting forward whenever I watch him. definitely hampered by Tuchel and the set up but so are all the Chelsea attack.
Can’t remember who said Tammy doesn’t need a lot of chances to score but they clearly never watched him under Lampard where he’d miss 2-3 chances from 5 yards out every game 😂 incredibly frustrating player.

With rumours that Newc and Burnley are prepared to offer circa £10mil for Philips would anyone have any further info on whether this is accurate and are we prepared to sell for around this price?
My immediate reaction is that we might be able to get a little more or put on an add one clause.

Gingerlfc

1.) 15 Jun 2021 23:28:59
Nat Phillips was born to play under Sean Dyche. It is written in the stars and every holy scripture from Bootle to Jerusalem.

2.) 15 Jun 2021 23:47:53
Think he’s worth more than 10 million.

When you hear stories of the Notts forest CB (Worrall I think? ) being valued over 15 million and he’s inferior to our nat!

3.) 16 Jun 2021 06:09:14
Personally I would keep him as a proven and homegrown back up as opposed to Matip despite the latters quality when fit and on form. WHEN being the key and decisive word there for me. That said Klopp loves Joel so if Nat isn’t going to play at all best to say thank you by securing him a deserved move to a decent club where he can play regularly regardless of income for ourselves.

4.) 16 Jun 2021 06:25:11
I'd keep Nat for a season as a security blanket until VVD and Joe are back to full fitness and recovered 100% from their injuries.

5.) 16 Jun 2021 06:55:00
£10 million does feel a tad cheap, but if that is the price on offer and the club are happy to accept then it is what it is.

6.) 16 Jun 2021 06:55:48
Agree, Buzzer. Gomez and VVD won't be back to their best for a while and Konate and Matip have had recent injury issues too. Nat has been one of the players of the season and we need to keep him in case we have another situation where are best 3 CBs are in the treatment room. he's not guaranteed to start when everyone is fit but he's a fine back-up and a better option than Fab or Hendo.

7.) 16 Jun 2021 07:14:58
If Michael Keane, James Tarkowski and Tyrone Mings are worth upwards of £20m, then I think we should ask the same as he’s at least as good as any of those. Personally I’d keep him as he’s earned his shot.

8.) 16 Jun 2021 08:00:01
£10 million wouldn't cover the amount of walls we need to rebuild around the training ground! Easily double that.

9.) 16 Jun 2021 08:46:44
Not sure that Maguire offers anything more than Nat so what does that mean for Nat’s transfer value?

I think Klopp trusts Nat to do his job and Nat has developed really pretty impressively over the season.

Nat is a great squad option for us.

10.) 16 Jun 2021 09:19:52
I know we all want to get a fair price for our players, but you have to put Phillips price into context.

VVVV you mention Keane, Tarkowski and Mings - they have 80-200 appearances for top flight clubs under their belt, Phillips has £125m for Couts. If we see £10m for Phillips as decent enough value not to keep him, then I guess we need to be happy with that.

Personally, I would keep him as I think he has a role to play in 21/ 22 whilst VVD/ Gomez get back to full fitness and Konate settles into the team. I'd then sell next season if Nat wanted more first team appearances.

11.) 16 Jun 2021 09:22:30
If Liverpool need the money, and it helps get a midfielder in, he has to go.
I estimated he’d be worth in the region of £10-15m a few months back, so this valuation is in that range.
His, and Klopp’s, call though. I’m cool with any decision made because he did enough to stay if it’s an option.
He would be gambling on his own playing time though.

12.) 16 Jun 2021 09:46:40
I think some of my message dropped out!

I meant to say - "Phillips has.

13.) 16 Jun 2021 09:58:19
hahaha!

14.) 16 Jun 2021 10:01:14
I'd be gutted if we sold him. It just seems to make too much sense to keep him, HG and cost us nothing.

15.) 16 Jun 2021 10:37:28
I’d keep Phillips and move matip on simple as that. I know matip is good defender but made of glass and high wages it makes no sense keeping him matip and selling Phillips.

16.) 16 Jun 2021 15:15:48
10m for Nat Phillips? They must be having a laugh. Tarkowski is for sale at around 40m and he is barely better than Nat, IMO. They can jog on with such a rubbish offer.

As for Matip, Ed02 has said Klopp is not anywhere near moving him on so it will be he and Konate to start the season if VVD and Gomez are not ready yet.

Completely agree SGRed.
It’s a massive job to take on for someone with so little managerial experience.
Best for his own development to take a lesser club away from so much spotlight/ pressure.

MacAlistar played much of his time at Brighton in the deep midfielder role. He’s on record as saying his preferred position is the left side of deep lying midfield albeit as part of a double pivot. Not exactly a million miles away from what he’s being asked to do at Liverpool.

Interesting. Seems a tad old for our normal range we look to (turns 28 in Jan) but a left footed right sided attacker with just a year left on his contract come next summer. Perhaps an older option to allow a younger player to come through.

Thanks for the reply.

Liverpool have been interested in Gravenberch since his Ajax days. So now they’ve got him and he’s only recently turned 20.
I wonder will we see a return for Andre in Jan?

If Allen was 4inches bigger and stronger he'd defo have a Liverpool future. As it stands I don't think he can consistently stand up to the physicality of this league.

Bolasie does not provide loads of assists.
His goals and assists numbers are actually quite average.
Just because he continually troubles our defence doesn't mean he's great. Our defence has just been poor.
He's 26 now and not going to get a whole lot better. His end product is generally poor.

Gingerlfc

{Ed001's Note - I really don't get the love in for Bolasie. He troubles everyone, but his actual effectiveness is very low. He does some fantastic things, but usually in 99.9% of cases, he follows it up by giving the ball away.}

Markovic did start before his injury and this was his first game back, much like Sturridge being on the bench on Sat. He's very fast indeed which suggests you're either talking about a completely different player or don't know what your talking about.
The problem Markovic may have in the Prem is that he's so slight, not that that's stopped other players, but it is a disadvantage.
