Moises who?

1.) 01 Feb 2024 07:08:59
I seem to remember one particular poster continually insisting that we we would go nowhere unless we signed him.
He'd struggle to get in our current side, never mind improve it.

2.) 01 Feb 2024 08:33:53
Flash, no point in rehashing any old stuff from the past, IMO. Caicedo got the deal he wanted. We got the deals we wanted with Macca and Endo (absolute boss players, mind you) so everyone is happy. I know I am.

3.) 01 Feb 2024 08:46:07
Still think Caicedo would look a completely different player in our team/ system and would defs improve us in CDM despite Mac having a couple of great games.

4.) 01 Feb 2024 09:26:40
He definitely didn't manage to 'part the red sea', he was more completely overwhelmed by the incoming tide.

5.) 01 Feb 2024 10:19:09
Rather have endo than moses.

6.) 01 Feb 2024 12:25:44
Rather have Mac. He was superb last night.

He’s made the most tackles of any Liverpool player in the last 3 seasons in his last 2 league games and the lad sure can pick a pass. Yes they don’t always come off but that’s because he doesn’t choose to go backwards and sideways 5 yards for 80% of the game.

7.) 01 Feb 2024 12:33:00
I think so, too Brummyred. I guess we will never know really.

8.) 01 Feb 2024 13:04:36
Doubt he would get in our reserves.

how impressive is ryan gravenberch refusing a call up to the U21s to use the time to settle in in liverpool and try to get up to speed with the lfc way of playing. club before country, very good.

1.) 05 Sep 2023 04:34:58
The Dutch managers seem to be less than impressed by that though, which I don't really get. They'll just be playing a useless friendly that has no bearing on anything at all. He made the sensible choice to stay back and acclimatise himself with his new environment, which shows a decent level of maturity. He shouldn't be threatened with being frozen out of the national team just because of this.

2.) 05 Sep 2023 07:29:32
Agreed, Koeman's true nature coming our here, I've always found him to be a bit of a kn*b.

Thought what RG has chosen to do is a brilliant way of adapting to life at the place he'll be playing and training in for the next few years. But yeah, the Dutch coaches would prefer that he pack his bags to go play U21 games.

3.) 05 Sep 2023 08:50:43
Never liked Koeman since his days playing for Barcelona - a diving cheat. Not sure what that’s got to do with RG to be honest, but just thought I’d say.

4.) 05 Sep 2023 10:53:40
RG may have a problem with authority and being patient, which could be his downfall. Surely he could have explained himself in a way which did not result in criticism.
Hopefully he doesn't have the attitude of Pogba.

Can I just say, no matter what happens for the rest of the window, I personally thik we have had a great window. Nunez, Carvalho and Ramsey in, Mo, MIliie n Gomez extending and let us not forget the mai main JK himself extending. If he think we got enough who am I to argue. Yes I would have liked another defensive type midfielder brought in, but would rather work with what we have than buy someone as stop gap. I think our business has been measured, serioooously considered and looked at in depth by our transfer commitee/ JK, and would prefer this approach to a scattergun style of recruitment that others have been taking. We are one of if not the top side in Europe and the world, yes i know Citee got the league and Madrid the Champs league, but who was the only club contesting them all? I for one am looking forward to what the new season brings, I think a sllllight general tactical tweek to keep things fresh as JK likes to do, and we will be in a good position. I cannot wait to see the new boys and youngsters being unleashed on the rest of the league/ europe and see where we get to. signing of the season for me has to be JK, we are blessed to have one of, if not the greatest managers of this era leading our team and I am getting my surfboard out to ride the wave of the next 12 months. I we don't sign this player or that player it is because with few eceptions we didn't really want them, only the press did. let's not slate the club for not signing a midfielder when the owners etc have put so much into continuing the success we are enjoying. I have been critical of FSG in the past and probably will be in the future if they make mistakes, but overall we are in so far a superior position than we was when they took over, they always get some leeway from me. sorry for long post but I don't post often and thought I would say it all in one lol. After seeing Mo and Gini on holiday and deep conversation I wonder if there is any chance Gini is telling Mo the grass is not as green as it looks, may perusade Mo to get his name on the contract and put all that behind us.

1.) 30 Jun 2022 20:33:34
?. Ughhh no. Think it's time we accept that the Egyptian king is off next season. Sooner you make peace with that, the better matey.

2.) 30 Jun 2022 21:18:29
i am totally at peace with it, in fact i would rather sell now than lose for free. we may be weaker for it but we wouldn't have the distraction of the circus surrounding it and we would get players that want to be here.

3.) 30 Jun 2022 22:00:00
I think we create the circus mate. As far as I can tell, Mo himself hasn't said/ done anything that you can consider harmful to the club. It's a business transaction and for him - waiting his contract out puts him in a financially favourable position (over signing an extension with Liverpool) .

Ignore the media hype and the influencers that crave bad energy around our famous club.

We should all enjoy his last year and hope he has a fantastic season.

4.) 30 Jun 2022 23:25:07
As much as i don’t think it’s been a great move for him Gini has got another league title to his name now.

5.) 01 Jul 2022 01:57:45
@Para-red absolutely spot on mate. Very well put.

6.) 01 Jul 2022 02:52:10
he may not have said anything himself, but he has allowed his employee, his agent in other words to cause a side show that does not sit well with me. if he truly did not want the circus he could soon resolve that by telling his agent to stop from making his comments or get a new agent. he has been hawking himself to other clubs every season for last few years and again had he not wanted that doing on his behalf then he would have stopped it. so yes he personally hasn't said anything but has allowed things to be said and done on his behalf. i think he is a fantastic player and although he may be worth the massive wages he thinks he is entitled to, he also knows how that would destroy the stability of the club, and when push comes to shove, noone is bigger than the club. we got our biggest signing through the door as far as i am concerned with JKs extention. people say how will we replace his goals, but we have always done it before, it will be done again. we are not a 1 player tem we are evolving and personally, as i said previously, i would rather sell now, and get someone in to replace him now than wait until he goes for free.

7.) 01 Jul 2022 05:54:55
I definitely think the distraction is in the mind of some fans. Knowing that Mo is leaving on a free would be fine imo. I don't see how that would be a distraction because at least there is certainty.

The only way I see it being a distracting is if Mo becomes to individual in his pursuit for individual honours to earn his next contract that then impacts his team mates.

8.) 01 Jul 2022 06:39:05
I guess if they were reminiscing, they would be talking about how great their team was and success they had winning CL and League. The most successful team in 30 years.

9.) 01 Jul 2022 06:48:53
Yes Mo should definitely stop his employee from doing his job. Hopefully Mo doesn't stop doing his job next season.

10.) 01 Jul 2022 07:00:02
His agent hasn't come out with anything in months so maybe that didn't sit well with Salah and he told him to Kop on.

11.) 01 Jul 2022 07:17:59
If in our work place we were considering our own positions& future with the company and looking at work life balance along with the salary etc and other people were showing or giving their opinions I bet 100% we would give zero F#### on what they were.

I’d imagine Mo is in the exact same boat right now.

12.) 01 Jul 2022 08:22:33
Who said he doesn’t want to be here? In fact Mo himself has said he does want to be here next season. Too many drama queens - nothing to see here move along.

{Ed002's Note - He did not say that. He said he "will be here" after his agent agreed verbally with Barcelona for him to run down his contract and join as a Free Agent next summer.}

13.) 01 Jul 2022 08:30:44
If folks value what's said by a player or his agent on social media more than what he does on the pitch then they're going to spend a lot of time being butthurt and crying on here.
I couldn't give a monkeys about what appears on Tw@tter or anywhere else regarding Salah, it's not as if he downed tools during the season. In fact, apart from his form tailing off after AFCON, he was sensational.
Get rid of one of the top players in the world because his agent has a loose trigger finger with his phone? Talk about cutting your nose off to spite your face.

14.) 01 Jul 2022 08:47:01
I think they were discussing the all inclusive, moaning about the non branded beer and spirits and not getting a proper glass.
Were they wearing wristbands?

15.) 01 Jul 2022 09:42:19
Exactly flash.

16.) 01 Jul 2022 11:08:40
Why do two people (apparently) on holiday together have to talk (apparently) about football …. Seems to me to be 1 + 1 = 24 or 25. it’s the fans forum of sitting in a cafe or a pub making up back stories for passers by.

17.) 01 Jul 2022 12:00:05
I think JK is best placed to determine whether or not Mo is causing "instability" in the club. Let's leave it to him shall we? We all know Jurgs is ruthless with regards to "player over team" situations - remember Sakho?

Anyhow whether Mo wants to be here or not? Couldn't give a continental but I do know he is a winner and a professional.

Bring on a front 3 of Diaz/ Nunez/ Salah, if only for 1 season.

18.) 01 Jul 2022 12:13:04
Salah’s gone next summer. The End.

19.) 01 Jul 2022 13:07:53
If salahs form from the end of last season we will find him sat warming his seat and making room for elliot or carvalho. I'm fine with that IF it happens. Hopefully he has a blinder of a final season for us. and personally think he'll have a lot more space with Diaz and nunez upfront with him.

20.) 01 Jul 2022 15:20:21
Oh and as for the Gini fan club still singing his praises and those who have no issues with him coming back, I have news for you. Like Cou was being touted for a comeback, Klopp did not take him back so why would he take back a player who unlike Cou, he wanted to sell 2 yrs prior to his departure? Just asking for a friend.

21.) 01 Jul 2022 16:11:08
Para-red in the mud ?.

22.) 01 Jul 2022 21:21:20
let me clarify a few things please. at no point did i say that i wanted gini back, merely speculated if he was saying that the grass is not always greener. as regards salahs agent if he had been doing nothing for months why such a furor over one minute wanting to stay and next changing mind wanting to go to Barcelona etc etc, he clearly was saying/ leaking things and should have been reigned in, that is my opinion noone has to share it. thirdly who cares the man has signed, the sideshow is over let's launch them on the rest of the prem and europe. not once did i say i wanted him to leave as a professional, i just believed in the long run if he wanted to go, sell and get a fee towards replacement, rather than leave for free. now that point is mute and i am absolutely delighted.

14 Jun 2022 21:49:42
question for the eds. will the signing of nunes now strengthen our position regarding mane, as we already have the replacement, we don't have to sell to buy, which would have increased in Bayerns eyes our desperation to get funds and they get away with lowballing?

If mane leaves all i can say is ty n good luck, i may not have been a fan of your "joke" but i was a fan of your play.

1.) 14 Jun 2022 23:15:52
Puts pressure on us financially to balance the books imo. I hope we can come to a deal that pleases both clubs. Let the lad go. I think he’ll be good at Munich but might not reach the heights of European football he’s been used to.

2.) 14 Jun 2022 23:56:11
although i agree we need to balance the ooks, we are in stronger position because we already have his replacement, we are not waiting to sell him to raise the funds to replace im. I may not have put original question in the right way lol.

3.) 15 Jun 2022 01:26:46
The opposite, Liverpool have now spent massively on a replacement for a player they were expecting to replace this year. The choice now is to pay 2x salary for 1 position whilst getting no money for Mane in a years time, or take the offer from the only club showing interest in Mane, getting a wage off the books whilst offsetting some of the cost of the replacement.

Considering Salah has said he’s going to stick out the last year of his contract, I don’t think Firmino is going to sign a new contract, so to have all of the front 3 that have pushed Liverpool to the pinnacle of football over the last 3-4 years all leaving for free, limiting the amount of money Liverpool would have to reinvest not only in their own replacements but other parts of the team would be hugely detrimental. ( Liverpools biggest expenditure on players: Alison &VVD were paid for by Coutinho’s sale)

As per the Ed’s without Mane’s sale, and with having exhausted other avenues of financing, the owners will have to lend the club their own money to finance the Nunez deal (not to mention any further deals this window)

So without raising fairly significant funds from sales, it’ll severely hamper further deals both this summer and in the future (unless the owners dip into their own pockets) with how leveraged Liverpool currently are.

4.) 15 Jun 2022 02:52:07
We are going to sell Neco, Taki, Ben Davis, perhaps Nat, perhaps Ox, too and we have reduced our wage bill with releasing Big Div and Karius. That would go some way to reducing our debts.

On top of that we might sell Mane and we might not

It isn’t like groceries - we ate the last loaf so we need another loaf. Whilst the club would need to reduce debt (or at least keep it at a manageable level) there is no direct connection between one player coming in and a specific player needing to leave.

Just to be clear, like a lot of us on here, I know nothing about financial management of a multi-million £ business but, thankfully the people running the club do so I’m not particularly stressed by our financial situation and, as an aside, I would have thought our performances on the field last season would have provided a (much needed) boost to revenue streams and would make us an attractive proposition for (potential) investors / sponsors.

5.) 15 Jun 2022 06:13:32
WDW, the eds have said on numerous occasions that purchases will need to be funded via sales.

Our debt level is critical, we need to be very, very careful.

6.) 15 Jun 2022 07:27:40
If we keep Mane due to no suitable offers, then I’m guessing that will be the end of the hunt for a new midfielder. As our number one target has gone to Madrid, maybe it’s not such a bad idea to wait anyway. If Mane stays, and Salah won’t sign a new deal, then I wouldn’t be against offering Mane a new deal.
Mane
Diaz
Nunez
Jota
Cavalho

With Bobby and Salah hanging around for another year.

7.) 15 Jun 2022 08:02:17
Mane and his national team pals have embarassed our club publically. Get shot. Been spending too much time with El Hadj Diouf and now he's behaving like a complete weapon.

8.) 15 Jun 2022 08:29:08
@Hsf, with all due respect to the Ed’s I think I’m happy going along with FSG’s financial decisions for the club, rather than the (informed? ) speculation of the editors, contributors or readers of a fan’s forum.

I’m pretty sure that FSG have a clear understanding of the financial situation at the club and, given they are allegedly out to make a profit from the club in the medium / long term, I suspect they are not going to do anything that would do irreparable damage to their profit margins.

Of course I might be wrong but it’s just my opinion.

9.) 15 Jun 2022 08:51:12
Mane has embarrassed the club publicly and is acting like a weapon?
Has he run naked round Anfield Road or something? Wiped his backside on a Liverpool flag?
Or just not signed a contract he doesn't agree with?

10.) 15 Jun 2022 09:57:32
What's the most bizarre to me is the lack of interest in Mane from other clubs, still has plenty of years in the tank, proven in toughest league in the world year after year and also in European competitions, on top of that so rarely injured. Bizarre there aren't more clubs wanting to add him to their squads.

11.) 15 Jun 2022 10:09:39
FlashTheRed, are you living under a rock mate?
A) he created a distractive narrative days before the Champions League final with his "exciting news about my future" remarks.
B) he came out with his ridiculous quotes about social media comments and what the people in Senegal want.
C) he's got the Senegal manager coming out publically saying Bayern is the best place for him.

Why does anybody still want to keep him? The fact he wants to leave and won't sign a new contract is absolutely fine with me and not what i'm referring to. But a little bit of professionalism wouldn't have gone amiss and that's why i just want his locker emptied and his backside sat on the next flight to Munich. He's made it into a media circus. I didn't see Nunez putting out comments in the media for 6 weeks disrespecting Benfica. Nor Carvalho (even though he's 11 years younger and his move was on the cards for months) refused to comment on links to us right up to and including the day Fulham won the title, out of respect for his fans who he wanted to just enjoy the season. Mane has acted like a complete and utter man-child.

12.) 15 Jun 2022 10:21:13
You're spot on there Mkscouser nothing to add really.

13.) 15 Jun 2022 11:07:33
He’s definitely made some ill-timed comments although I’m not sure I’ll hold him accountable for what the Senegal manager says.

That being said, if he had a change of heart and wanted to stay I’d welcome him with open arms. Quality player who works hard and never let's us down on the pitch.

But if he goes, good luck to him. He’ll always be a legend in my eyes.

14.) 15 Jun 2022 11:25:59
Him and Salah are good footballers but not a lot going on upstairs. I don’t think that it helps with the two not liking each other I think Mane might want a new challenge and to also get away from Mo. They have both been great servants but I would not mind selling both this window and signing Raphina but I would also not mind keeping both.

15.) 15 Jun 2022 12:19:03
Reyrey, if he hadn't been mouthing off to the manager, no way would the manager say that stuff in my opinion. Mane also failed to shut down the Senegal manager when he was having pops at Klopp over his "little tournament" comment because the blokes too thick to understand sarcasm.

However i do agree fully that Mane is still a legend regardless of the sour taste he's leaving in the mouth.

If he performed a U-turn to stay and apologised for his behaviour obviously i'd take him back but that's a moot point because he won't do it. I'm a Liverpool supporter first and foremost so naturally i'm not happy that he's not doing what is best for our club whilst he is contracted. His comments give Bayern more strength in negotiations. It's unprofessional.

16.) 15 Jun 2022 14:13:06
WDW nailed it (diplomatically! )

17.) 15 Jun 2022 19:39:23
Sod off Adam! That’s the second time in one day I’m agreeing with you ?‍♂️

I love Mané (& Salah), but feel like when they’re talking to their’fanbase’ they are not thinking first and foremost of Liverpool supporters, more Mané and Salah supporters.
Too much hype, let’s create the next couple of legends in Díaz and Núñez!

18.) 15 Jun 2022 19:49:59
Sadio is a great player but he has, to use a phrase, ‘previous’ : at Southampton when he sulked his way into getting a transfer. I think his general attitude was a cause for concern for some of us when we were first linked to signing him.

19.) 15 Jun 2022 22:03:49
The maths don't add up in keeping Mane (no matter how much I want him to stay) . If you keep him you pay him his 5.2 Million salary for the year and say goodbye and good luck next June. And you will also underutilize him during his final year because you already bought his replacement (Diaz) on the left, and you just paid a club record fee for the (CF - Nunez) position that Mane can play (while Firmino and Jota are anxiously sitting in the stands grinding their teeth over these two starting ahead of them) .

If you sell him now you get a minimum of 25 Million (Bayern's last offer), and you add the 5.2 Million, that you no longer pay Mane. You've turned the page and started a new chapter, and opened the path for Diaz and Nunez to achieve whatever they're destined to do for the club.

If you give up this 30.2 Million (could be higher in reality since Bayern is expected to make a third offer supposedly), you are essentially giving up 580K per week (opportunity cost) over the next year until he leaves, while refusing to pay him the additional 200K (or whatever) per week, that he is asking for. No sense at all.

I still think his best position is from the left, where he played against us and was so good. I think him on left, Salah right n Jota through the middle we wouldn't go too far wrong. Harsh on Diaz and gakpo maybe but I think coming in from the left or destroying the full back will help his confidence and also take him slightly out of the main focal point firing line.

I think the inverted system has worked better since trent started dropping back between the 2 central defs if needed rather than trying to race back into right back position, and also since gomez started playing on the left, we can have a back 3 when trent goes into mid giving extra defensive cover by someone more comfortable in the defensive part of the game rather than robbo or tsimi trying to play a centre back role rather than heir normal game. personally i love watching nunez on the left and interchanging with the whichever cf we have on there. front 3 for on form would be salah right, nunez left jota/ gakpo cf but interchange with nunez to keep defenders guessing.
