Hearing Liverpool have been given permission to speak to Anderlecht's Jermey Doku.

IVAN

1.) 20 Sep 2020 11:38:04
I doubt that after Jota.

2.) 20 Sep 2020 12:17:43
Can't see it happening as we got jota, but if origi and Brewster are leaving for cash we are 2 attackers down so u never know . We need a good centre back before another attacker. I am praying for diego Carlos because it seems klopp likes him and he is a gladiator of a defender.

3.) 20 Sep 2020 13:53:27
Hailstones, not sure if you’ve seen Carlos of late but he is reckless and gives away pens and fouls away at a high rate, it must be his long passing ability that catches Klopps eye because it can’t be his defending prowess, he’s not composed enough to be in this team in my opinion. I do agree that we need a CB to replace Gomez as a next priority if another player was to come in. Another forward would seem odd unless origi, Brewster and shaq were all to leave. I hope Wilson, Grujic and karius move along also because we need the funds and the space in the squad.

4.) 20 Sep 2020 14:06:11
This constant replacing of Gomez is beyond a joke now it really is
What has he done so wrong to need replacing?

{Ed047's Note - if you don't want him we’ll have him at Arsenal.

5.) 20 Sep 2020 14:07:43
If we are going to sign him. it would be best to sign him early. hg and whatnot.

6.) 20 Sep 2020 14:24:55
We must be a very very very VERY good side if our biggest priority is replacing Joe Gomez! talk about spoilt.

7.) 20 Sep 2020 14:44:41
Would there be any possibility that LFC could negotiate a deal to sign Doku next year and let him stay in Belgium for this season (similar arrangement to Keita and RB Leipzig three years ago)? Just a thought.

8.) 20 Sep 2020 14:45:16
Some of the softheads on here are adamant that Gomez needs replacing. Thankfully Klopp is in charge and knows what he is doing.
You wonder if folks are more interested in the transfers than the football itself when they want a top player replaced just so it means another transfer they can glop over for a day.

{Ed002's Note - It is Klopp who wants Diego Carlos.}

9.) 20 Sep 2020 15:05:31
I like Gomez but if we can get Carlos in as well just makes us better, rotation this season will be extremely important .

10.) 20 Sep 2020 15:27:08
Can we please leave Joe Gomez alone VVD. Has made more mistakes leading to goals than Joe. We have got to have so many homegrown players in are squad and I can’t think of many we could have that are better than Joe. I think it’s to many people who play FIFA and football manager and the believe everything from there.

11.) 20 Sep 2020 19:43:14
The problem with Gomez is he is very injury prone and that's means we can't rely on him to be a starter.

12.) 20 Sep 2020 20:03:12
he is not very injury prone at all
that is complete rubbish sorry mate.

13.) 20 Sep 2020 20:40:07
He’s spent a considerable amount of time on the sidelines JJ.

14.) 20 Sep 2020 22:11:15
People take it as a personal attack yet they don't look at the facts. The ed;s here have been banging on about Klopp wanting Carlos, so why doubt that? And yes Gomez is ace but he is not the most robust of players unfortunately and if we are to build a legacy, then we will need a rock solid, mostly injury free CB.

15.) 21 Sep 2020 03:54:49
Joe Gomez is a great player but nearly as injury prone as Joel matip!

16.) 21 Sep 2020 10:29:52
Yesterday Gomez was out with a slight knock. He'll be back for next week.

The times that he's been injured for long periods have been impact injuries. That doesn't mean he's injury prone. Those injuries can happen to anyone. Joe's just been unlucky with them.

17.) 21 Sep 2020 16:27:08
The question for me is, if VVD wasn't in the backline, would you trust Gomez to lead in his place?

The answer for me is no. I don't think his concentration is there consistently. His recovery pace is brilliant and he's instinctive but if any defensive leader wasn't supporting him, I think our backline would be at risk.

No doubt he's got it in him, 100%! and in no way should he be moved on. But, I do think we need an experienced CB for the next three years until JG can really master his craft.

Your thoughts?

18.) 21 Sep 2020 16:36:11
Joe gomez is so underrated by some fans. He is unlucky with injuries, picking up knocks here and there. But he's a quality cb. He would get in all premiership teams that's for certain.

{Ed025's Note - hmmmmm..

19.) 21 Sep 2020 17:17:21
Which team wouldn't he get in then? He walks into man u and Chelsea. 100% arsenal and spurs. Leaving only city?

{Ed025's Note - its all about opinions magico, you obviously see something in him that some others dont and thats your perogative mate, myself i think hes ok when he has a VVD along side him, but anyone else and hes a ship without a rudder..

20.) 21 Sep 2020 18:03:49
Yeah i admit. probably does look better with virgil next to him. I guess the prem isn't blessed with great centre backs period. Apart from virgil and laporte who else do you rate guys.

21.) 21 Sep 2020 21:48:22
I'm with JJ and Magico, 100% agree. Other than VvD it is just Laporte who is clearly better than him in the premiership and he makes every single team.

I've posted something similar a few times when people are on about replacing Joe and no response naming any team in the premiership he wouldn't make.

18 Sep 2020 12:49:52
Personal terms have been agreed between Liverpool and Sarr, Liverpool have made a bid of £27m plus 6m in add ons, down to Watford now, player is already out the door and ready to move on.

IVAN

1.) 18 Sep 2020 14:43:43
Personally I hope this isn’t true he’s a good player and could be great but we need a top cb to partner Virgil the money would be better spent there.

At the end of the day Sarr will be brought in for cover and we will need him most during Affcon . o wait he’s there too. Just doesn’t make sense to me.

2.) 18 Sep 2020 15:51:05
There's rumour that we are going for Jota instead and with Ki-Jana going opposite, we may have enquired about him. He is versatile but I still like Sarr.

17 Sep 2020 09:43:37
wijanldum to sign new 3yr deal, grujic looking to get his move away permanently as no go on the working permit and thigao will be wrapped up by the end of the week, £26m rumoured, Klopp looking also at a CB to partner Virgil, Mario could be made avalibale for transfer to raise partial funds.

IVAN

1.) 17 Sep 2020 09:47:21
Matip*.

2.) 17 Sep 2020 09:48:52
Mario Who? Am I missing someone?

3.) 17 Sep 2020 09:50:47
Looks like Thiago done at 27m!

4.) 17 Sep 2020 11:18:36
People saying Brewster needed to go and seems we do not rate Grujic enough.
My thoughts are that IF we do not give these footballers a chance to prove themselves, then we will NEVER EVER know how good they are as a fit in our Team.
Prime examples are: Henderson - at one point was considered not good at all and muted to be shiped out on loan or sold, luckily no one wanted him andgiven his chance, proved how good he is.
Origi - limited playinv time and people need to check his goal per minutes played. His stat could proved better than some other top rated strikers in the world. He is a target man who should play in the middle but played out wide abd still scores some vital goals.
Lucas - proved a vital player given his opportunity.
There are several examples like this, Danny Ings, Suso, so on.
PLEASE DO NOT WRITE OFF PLAYERS until they have played a full season with us and given ample minutes to prove themselves. Try to be in their position. If you are judge in the first few weeks in your job and not given the vhancd to prove yourself, how would you feel?
EVEN PROBATION PERIOD AT WORK IS 6 MONTHS.
Thank you for your time.
I agree with one of the people sayong the Value and age is not money well spent. There are better players than him and younger.
Think long term guys as Thiago's injury history is a big problem.
I do not want to curse it, but it could turn out to ve another AA.

5.) 17 Sep 2020 11:55:27
kit - how is brewster going to get a real opportunity to show his wares? He is in the unenviable position where he isn't good enough or the right fit to start regularly for us, and he is also probably isn't good enough to bang in goals coming off the bench for us to show that he is capable. I think the best move for him is to another club, I was just hoping it'd be a loan.

27 Jul 2020 13:40:57
Liverpool have been told the price they must pay for Thiago is €35m

They have agreed.

IVAN

{Ed025's Note - hmmmm..

1.) 27 Jul 2020 13:50:37
Seems odd that the team. That has the player with less than a year left on his contract. And have publicly stated he won't sign new deal, and wants a new challenge. Hold all the cards?! Seems odd.

2.) 27 Jul 2020 13:57:20
Grujic gone.

3.) 27 Jul 2020 14:18:45
Even if Grujic gone this one makes little sense to me. Who's place in the first 11 does Thiago take? If they are all fit Hendo, Fab { Wij | Keita | Jones | Milner | Thiago }.

Seems like a lot of midfielders and one in there the club already spent 60mill on in Keita.

4.) 27 Jul 2020 14:55:58
The move would make more sense if Wijnaldum was the player leaving.

5.) 27 Jul 2020 15:24:16
It’s a squad game premier league champions league fa cup league cup however it doesn’t fit the usual criteria for a Liverpool signing 29 year old in a well subscribed position. I always thought there was talk of Trent playing cm with williams looking like a great understudy I thought this would be the season for a few outings. Left back cb cf is areas liverpool need reinforcements not cm. and I hate it when gini is underrated consistent hard working a perfect professional. Plays all the big games why would he be going?

6.) 27 Jul 2020 16:31:21
I can't see Liverpool paying that much money for a 29 year old especially if funds are tight. I would be look for bargain signing that Klopp can working like he did with Andy Robertson. The midfielder at Norwich could be a bargain and I ain't talking about Cantwell but if a big star was to leave then a big money replacement maybe brought in.

7.) 27 Jul 2020 16:46:44
I can’t see Thiago signing unless Gini leaves. I’m certainly not wishing Gini does leave but he hasn’t signed a new contract which might be the reason they are looking to replace him. I think signing Thiago would take the sting out of Wijnaldum leaving.

8.) 27 Jul 2020 17:10:26
Why do players have to leave for us to sign players to improve the team? 60 games In a season, injuries to players etc. We need players to keep the competition up and stop players thinking they are guaranteed a starting place and lacking the top level of motivation. Quite clearly if we perform less than 100% we can lose games so even more important to freshen up the team if we can so Klopp has options. Even the captain and player of the year knows if his form drops off, he will be replaced. He’s humble enough to see the bigger picture and I’m sure Gini is also.

{Ed025's Note - its a financial thing war machine...liverpool dont have much money to spend mate..

9.) 27 Jul 2020 17:23:54
I really don’t see Klopp getting rid of Wijnaldum.

10.) 27 Jul 2020 18:31:56
If he doesn't sign a contract then he may not have a choice.

11.) 27 Jul 2020 18:35:39
It's not really the same as getting rid, if Gini just doesn't want to sign a new contract.

12.) 27 Jul 2020 19:52:18
I'm really struggling to rationalise this move. All I could come up with is the club have said ok, huge financial uncertainty, we can't blow the bank on a young, already good but high ceiling player such as Werner - I realise they play different positions - so let's bring in a proven winner to keep the team ticking over and competitive until the financial landscape becomes clearer next season. Even this seems a bit of a reach.

13.) 27 Jul 2020 20:36:33
Everyone seems to be reacting to this like it's solid news. It isn't, it's a rumour. Repeatedly recycled.
Until he's pictured doing the Melwood lean it will remain a rumour.

{Ed002's Note - It comes from the Dat Kid From Bolton when he confirmed the agreement weeks ago. Just after Liverpool reached agreement to take Sancho from Dortmund next summer.}

14.) 27 Jul 2020 22:45:37
Seen a snippet from an interview with Lijnders where he talks about ‘unpredictability to solve problems’ next season.
Whether this manifests itself in unexpected signings and / or tactical changes, formations etc we will see.
But it seems clear that things will change to some degree.

15.) 28 Jul 2020 00:39:01
I'm almost certain Ljinders gave examples of variation in build up play when he was talking about that, using Fabinho to chip passes into diagonal runs and such.

16.) 28 Jul 2020 04:46:57
Yeah, and look at Thiago's chipped passes. He is one of the best passers in the game.

17.) 28 Jul 2020 06:40:48
Thiago is a quality player. Liverpool need a deeper experienced squad. I’d be happy with him joining. Playing time is up to the players effort, approach, quality, etc. He’d be one of a number but another quality one if he were to be signed!

18.) 28 Jul 2020 08:57:03
Rather resign coutinho. It makes no sense at all. Resign coutinho he knows the league can do whatever thiago can and do a lot more.

19.) 28 Jul 2020 11:45:00
Why do we need to sell to buy? Well, in midfield we have 7 players there already for 3 positions with no indication any one of those 7 are leaving

Look at his chipped passes - I think this is one of our massive strengths already. If we are adding variety I would have thought a midfielder who can knit together our attacks a la David Silva would be the type we're after.

20.) 28 Jul 2020 12:03:32
I wonder if Milner will leave for Leeds, freeing up another space. His wages must be sky high.
Thiago is more than just chipped passes too. His all round passing game is a step above any MF that we have already.

21.) 29 Jul 2020 09:55:46
I’d rather give Jones, Elliot or even Harry Wilson a crack. All have shown they have great potential so if even one of them become a reliable squad player we’v saved millions.

24 Jul 2020 12:27:47
Dejan lovren o his way to zenit on an £11m deal.

IVAN

1.) 24 Jul 2020 12:47:56
Good buisness.

2.) 24 Jul 2020 13:53:51
Best of luck to Dejan!
We got an amazing fee fee for him and hopefully he can settle down and do well in Russia playing regularly.

3.) 24 Jul 2020 15:51:11
That prolonged hug in the dressing room with Klopp on Wednesday gave it away really! I'm absolutely not surprised this has come out so quickly.
Thanks for the service, Dejan! Your goal against Dortmund will always be remembered, as well as your bromance with Mo Salah!
YNWA.

4.) 24 Jul 2020 16:28:24
One of my favourites, had that "I've really bought into the club" feel about him, like DAgger had. I'll miss him, but best for his career, a way too good to spend his peak as 4th choice.

Jones clearly the stand out player tonight, think he has been fantastic, professional and shown real maturity and a step up in his game, massive future ahead.

Special mention to Minamino also, he has had a great game, and 2 fantastic goals, shows a real passion for pressing and he is all over the pitch making a difference, really starting to shine now he has had the opportunity.

Young Williams at CB to has had a great game also, great to see we have a massive depth to the squad now, with players who know what is expected and they deliver.

Tsmikas ( spelling ) also has had a great game and is more than equipped to fill in the boots of Robbo when needed.

All round great game of football.

Up the reds.

IVAN

1.) 24 Sep 2020 21:54:09
For me grujic is a quality player we have too keep, if gini not staying he should be next in line to take his place harsh as it sounds but we evolve .

2.) 24 Sep 2020 21:54:24
Minamino looks so fit. Seemed to be everywhere and never looked out of breath. Shaq was outstanding and looked like a Real playmaker. Jones had a brilliant game. Sometimes though tries to do to much, bit like Nico Williams but both are young and decision making will come as they get more experienced.

3.) 24 Sep 2020 23:17:42
I like grujic. Reminds me of deli Ali a bit. Maybe it's just his build, but he kicks the ball in a similar way and moves in the same way. I really think he's s keeper. Hope we do keep him.

4.) 25 Sep 2020 14:02:05
Im sure he's not a keeper, Robbie.

Klopp wants Koulibaly and he will go for him this summer as his main signing.

IVAN

{Ed002's Note - Nonsense - Liverpool don't have the money and the player is 29.}

2.) 29 Jun 2020 15:42:45
And pigs might fly IVAN.

3.) 29 Jun 2020 15:58:22
Summed up perfectly in 1 sentence Ed02. Even if Liverpool had the money, blowing £80 million plus on a 29 old with no sell on value would be a terrible investment.

{Ed002's Note - Exactly.}

4.) 29 Jun 2020 19:22:30
IVAN.

05 Jun 2020 19:34:29
So £54m price for Wernwr plus £9m wages per season over 5 years, total £100m package for him, no wonder Liverpool wasn't prepared to pay it for let's face it, a sub.

Smart business in my eyes.

IVAN

1.) 05 Jun 2020 19:49:38
He's a very good player and would get his fair share of game time. Also in todays market his transfer fee and wages are far from the worst. No point in rubbishing the player because he is going elsewhere! I dare say if he signed for Lfc he would be the best thing since sliced bread.

2.) 05 Jun 2020 20:03:56
IR, I fully agree with you that rubbishing Werner (who is a stud footballer who I would have welcomed at Anfield) is pretty week, not sure he would be the best thing since sliced bread had he signed cos well, we already have the best "things" since sliced bread as in, our front 3 who are top 5 in the world in their positions. Just saying.

3.) 05 Jun 2020 20:06:46
He's a fantastic player and would have been a great addition. But total trust in Klopp/ Edwards to get the right player in the end.

Champions of Europe, Super Cup, World Club Cub and 27 wins of 29 in the Prem thus far . Hardly a team who is in dire need of a marque signing.

4.) 05 Jun 2020 20:07:41
Short sighted not to go for him given that either or Salah or Mané are likely to leave at some point and both of them will not be here between 6/ 1/ 21 and 9/ 2/ 21 for the AFCON. Shot ourselves in the foot. Now we’re scrabbling around for loans and free transfers.

5.) 05 Jun 2020 20:27:00
I don’t think he would of been a sub. I think he’s got the right attitude to want to dislodge one of the front three. I love our front three as much as anyone but if a player comes in and proves more effective then I’m happy with that. The least Werner would of done is provide real competition Which in turn would force the boys to play out their skin every week. Right now the front three are basically undroppable. Someone of real quality like Werner could force them to play even better. Just my opinion.

6.) 05 Jun 2020 21:18:39
German papers are reporting the Werner fee as being £45 million. Just gets better and better all the time!

7.) 06 Jun 2020 02:05:24
Why would we spend that amount of money to stand in while the African cup is on?

8.) 06 Jun 2020 06:53:18
Thing is Mikey, Salah and Mané both are getting towards 28 and both want that final big move, be it to Madrid or Barca. So it would have been a very short term investment for the AFCON and an even better long term investment for when they both move on. Also, given the amount of games that will be affected by the AFCON, that’s a very long time to be without our main goal threat and enough to lose ground in a title race. Can you honestly say that we even look like good a side stripped of two world class attackers got they length off time? Because I certainly can’t? Lose one we can cope, lose two and we are very likely to strugggle as we don’t have many goals in the side beyond them.

9.) 06 Jun 2020 10:31:49
The one positive for me is the fact we didn’t go all out for Werner shows that Salah and Mane aren’t going anywhere next season. The longer we can keep hold of the front 3 the better.

You don't need to match the salary if the player wants to play for you, it's that simple, if he is money driven and accepts a deal with chelsea over Liverpool because of the wage increase, then it's not a huge loss.

People are to harsh on him, he isn't a striker, he isn't going to score 30+ goals a season, what he does off the ball is majorly important to the team and how we work, also his link up play with salah and mane is amazing, sometimes scoring goals doesn't make you a much needed player, and if he was to be replaced he would be missed massively.

I recall him having to force himself in the team over Milner, I'm sure klopp would start playing milner again if Robertson couldn't be bothered anymore, which let's face it, isn't going to happen, we diddnt play too bad, just not clinical, and Robertson had a bad game, but he has 4 medals in his pocket after 2 seasons, not a bad left back ay.
