Not Liverpool related but after the last few weeks it's refreshing to see Olise sign a new deal with a team like Palace. He has plenty of time to move to a bigger club and will be interesting to see his development as could be a nice Salah replacement in a few more years.

Jgrant39

{Ed002's Note - Another Chelsea academy player for the obsession then. Wow.}

1.) 17 Aug 2023 22:25:04
Think we've all learned from this window's transfers that no one, outside of the club that is, what is actually going on.

2.) 17 Aug 2023 22:29:35
Chelsea’s academy/ youth scouting is brilliant, even Liverpools 2 best young player sales in Solanke and Brewster came from Chelsea quite late in their development.

3.) 17 Aug 2023 22:48:21
We do love a chelsea reject! ?????.

4.) 17 Aug 2023 23:43:32
Chelsea do have a pretty unscrupulous buy-to-loan policy with young English talent as well though. They bring in kids who are never likely to make it and sell them on at a huge profit. Doesn't take a genius to do that. It's more like human trafficking to be honest. Good luck to them for being good at what they do, and maybe we should do better. But I'd like to see more regulations on exploitation of young talent who never make the first team.

5.) 18 Aug 2023 00:14:42
Wow I didn’t even know Olise was Chelsea youth!

6.) 18 Aug 2023 06:38:48
I’m not sure I’d call it exploitation Max - I’m sure most are very happy to have Chelsea academy on their CV and they are fully aware that getting into the first team squad is not guaranteed. Most seem to go on very successfully elsewhere even if they don’t make it.

Exploitation would be the case if Chelsea signed them then neglected them which doesn’t seem to be the case.

7.) 18 Aug 2023 07:09:37
So why exactly did he leave chealea in the first place lol. There is no rule not sign cheslea youth product. He is a fantastic footballer and I would love him at LFC.

8.) 18 Aug 2023 07:49:02
There were rumours the contract signing was in part pushed through due to Chelsea's behaviour and conduct around trying to sign him, apparently Palace threatened to get lawyers involved which caused Chelsea to back out.

9.) 18 Aug 2023 07:49:31
The whole sport is a business. Chelsea's excellent youth system is second to none and makes sense on every level, apart from the bit where they let world class talent go, because old school managers don't give them a chance.

10.) 18 Aug 2023 08:24:25
I see it as a bit of a win-win for the youth that go to Chelsea's academy tbh. They get the best coaching available, competition to push them harder and there is a slim chance of making it to the first team (James, Colwill, RLC, etc) . If they don't make it, many other clubs will give them a chance.
The important thing is that they are likely to be the best players they can be in the long run.
Having Poch as the manager should also help some of the kids break through where they previously may not have been given a chance.

11.) 18 Aug 2023 09:32:27
Chelsea have been using abramovich‘s oil money to buy all the best young talent from around the world for20 years. It’s no wonder they have a steady supply of top class players coming through the academy.

{Ed002's Note - They are Academy players - they were not purchased using the funds of Mr Abramovich. Idiot.}

12.) 18 Aug 2023 10:50:23
-------Another one gone------

13.) 18 Aug 2023 10:52:52
A Chelsea supporting friend told me that Olise's family who represent him speak to Chelsea reps on a regular basis. Chelsea were informed of his release clause and we're going to trigger it. However the clause was for UCL Qualifiers hence the Chelsea offer was deemed too low. Olise has now signed a new contract which I suspect now includes a Change to the release clause. I would expect Olise to return to Chelsea within 2 years.

{Ed002's Note - He was teasing you. It is true his family speak with Chelsea regularly - there is a reason for that. The issue was over a third-party representing the player who told Manchester City and Chelsea about the two different release clauses and the details of them.}

14.) 18 Aug 2023 11:01:22
Zero gold stars - you can sign who you want as a kid, but you get nowhere unless you invest in them regarding football training, education, mentality etc… and so how is that a bad thing to be investing in the youth of tomorrow? Embarrassing….

15.) 18 Aug 2023 20:54:24
Jealous of a youth system. imagine how they feel of our success.

I woke up this morning and it still hasn't quite sunk in that Klopp is leaving. He's just been immense and I only posted the other day saying it's a joy to watch what he is doing and how great it is to see the kids coming through and the respect they must have for him. They say no one is bigger than the club and that's true but Klopp and his personality are massive and I'm gutted he's not going to be around for a few more years to develop some of the amazing young players we have. I guess Alonso is the replacement most of us want but whoever it has massive shoes to fill. We are going to miss you Jürgen.

1.) 27 Jan 2024 12:08:04
Couldn't agree more, Jgrant39.

I suspect this feeling will linger long into the new season kicking off. We just have to enjoy these last few months together now and not worry too much about the big change that is coming.

2.) 27 Jan 2024 14:21:33
The Mancs want to believe that this is the beginning of the end for us. But, I still have a very strong positive feeling that we'll continue going from strength to strength over the coming seasons. We're at the cusp of a glorious new era not at the end of one and it's all thanks to the amazing work of Klopp and the current coaching team.

3.) 27 Jan 2024 14:50:11
FrontMan, let them believe in their own fantasies cos really, what have they got left esp. since their day to day reality is one of abject humiliation and desperation.

They wish Fergie had left them in the situation Klopp will be leaving us wit and as you said, we are on the verge of a new area cos the structures at the club and esp. within the squad and the academy are fully in place. As long as we get the right appointments in and even tho there will be growing pains along the way, I think we have a lot of leeway to grow. No rebuilds from scratch. Just tweaks and Im here for it.

4.) 27 Jan 2024 16:56:52
I haven't seen man utd fans as happy in 10 years.

5.) 27 Jan 2024 20:42:20
We shouldn’t be so arrogant to assume we won't possibly have a drop off like manU post Fergie. But equally we should be grateful to have the owners we have because their pragmatic and sustainable approach means we are unlikely to make knee jerk decisions to reclaim past glories like happened for us for 2 decades before they arrived, like at manU, like at Chelsea now and Arsenal too.

The system and identity will remain and we will just need to find the right manager to take the playing group forward. I’d prepare for that to potentially not happen straight away tho.

22 Jan 2024 07:25:32
It's just so enjoyable watching this team and seeing players like Konate, Gomez, Jota really stepping up. Also seeing the kids come on is great to see and the way Klopp embraces them at the end must give them a massive boost. The future is bright and enjoy the ride.

Jgrant39

1.) 22 Jan 2024 09:11:38
Agreed Jgrant. I would very much like a Klopp hug myself.

Hi Eds. Nice to see an ex Red doing well. What's your opinion on Dominic Solanke? Seems to be finding the net regularly and was highly thought of a youngster. Not saying he would come back to Liverpool but do you think he could play for one of the top 6 clubs or has he found a club that play to his strengths? Would be interested inn your views and appreciate all the work you guys do for us fans.

Jgrant39

{Ed001's Note - I was initially going to say that I doubt he could go much higher up the league, but then I remembered some of the 'strikers' currently plying their trade in the Prem. He is a much better goalscorer than someone like Jesus, works as hard, not technically as good but stronger in the air. If Arsenal had him up front yesterday they would have been much more of a threat. Sadly for him, he is a bit of an old-fashioned type of goalscorer, not the best at linking play, so he will get overlooked by the likes of Arsenal, even though he would improve them. He might not make them better as a team overall, but he would make them more of a goal threat in games when they are struggling. So yes he could play for a top 6 side. He would walk into West Ham's side, for example. Or Man Utd's.}

1.) 24 Dec 2023 10:41:46
Funny if u look at the forwards at all the so called big clubs most of them are struggling both individually or collectively.
Our set have been poor for a good while now, arsenals definityly not as good as last seson, utds awful rashford who excellent last season has been atrious. city not as effective either. Son and spurs i suppose the exception. No idea why that is but definitly a drop off for some reason.

2.) 24 Dec 2023 11:02:08
yep totally agree and let's hope he scores some vital goals against the teams around us. Looking forward to what lies ahead in 2024 for us and just hope the league isn't decided by dodgy VAR decisions. We live in hope. Thx again and Happy Christmas to you all and the real reds fans that come and post on this site.

3.) 24 Dec 2023 11:20:17
Standards dropped eds you reckon?

{Ed001's Note - yes mate.}

4.) 24 Dec 2023 11:36:58
To be honest, I think that it is amazing where we are considering we are not at the top of our game yet.
Keep it going boys YNWA.

5.) 24 Dec 2023 11:41:08
Shame isn't it ed.
The goalscorers in the 90s early naughties were on a different level.

6.) 24 Dec 2023 11:43:39
Dom is doing great right now and he has really upped his game. Can he make the next step up? We will have to see.

7.) 24 Dec 2023 13:08:43
Do you want him at LFC @Oli?

8.) 24 Dec 2023 23:48:09
Speaking of strikers at big clubs what is that Rasmus Hojland fella all about? I’ve heard people say he’s a top player but from what I’ve seen he’s absolute sh@te.

He seems to be getting a pass because Utd are playing badly and he’s not getting the service but surely it’s up to him to make sure he’s getting involved and having an impact on games. Top strikers affect football matches whether their team is playing well or not. He is just a waste of a shirt from what I’ve seen.

Say what you like about Nunez but at least he’s always involved and working hard for the team.

9.) 24 Dec 2023 23:51:48
To do what at LFC, Harry?

02 Dec 2023 17:24:40
Hi guys. I'm looking for 3 tickets to the game tomorrow as want to take my 2 boys before they go travelling. Just so many scams on line so if anyone knows of any genuine people selling please let me know, as I guess turning up and trying to get one on the day is also too risky. Just so difficult now to get tickets.

Jgrant39

1.) 02 Dec 2023 18:02:30
This late in the day mate your best bet is hospitality but they won’t come cheap.

2.) 02 Dec 2023 19:50:47
try fan pass. Used and good.

3.) 03 Dec 2023 16:00:03
Is there not an issue over identification if you buy a ticket from a 3rd party?

4.) 03 Dec 2023 17:23:09
PD yes mate you’d need to be a member and linked to whoever’s ticket it is in friends and family.

5.) 03 Dec 2023 17:50:05
Thanks, JK. Just saved me a few hundred quid as I was going to bring my boys over to the WHU game in a fortnight.

Back to the drawing board for Christmas presents.

6.) 03 Dec 2023 18:40:48
PD as I said above your best bet is hospitality especially if the boys are over 18. Leave it as late as you can as price drops significantly if they don’t sell out.

Bigger the game though the less likely the chance is of getting any.

{Ed002's Note - Well they will be cheaper now the game has finished.}

7.) 03 Dec 2023 19:08:11
Guys I have got 2 tickets for my birthday v Newcastle driving down from Scotland where's the best place to safely park my car?

8.) 03 Dec 2023 19:26:10
Rabh look at myparkingspace. Only saying that as it’s New Year’s Day so no idea if that will effect other parking areas that are usually manned.

9.) 03 Dec 2023 19:42:03
You can definitely get round the being a member thing. 100 percent.

10.) 03 Dec 2023 20:45:11
Rabh, I always park in the Asda car park and have never had a ticket or a fine.

Diaz dad has been freed. Best news of the season. YNWA.

Jgrant39

1.) 09 Nov 2023 18:05:24
Excellent news. Situations like that put things in perspective, some things take precedence over football.

{Ed025's Note - absolutely flash..

2.) 09 Nov 2023 19:59:50
I kinda stopped following the news cos I thought it was mentioned by one of the eds two weeks ago that they were both fine? Was surprised when it was mentioned in the last game Luis played.
anyways good news all round.

yep got to agree with Hollywood Hogan on this one. we don't know if the rumour is true but how quickly people dismiss players, probably because they don't have a continental name. It was exactly the same with Robbo and he didn't turn out too bad did he. Whatever Klopp and the scouts do is good for me as they know best. The last player we had with Barnes as a surname didn't turn out too bad either.

Macca and the Ed’s clearly know more than the tabloids. Whoever Klopp signs is good for me, so let’s just trust him as he will get it right.

Honestly what more do you want. One of the best performances of the season and one of the best games with 2 amazing teams. Some people are never happy but win, lose or draw I’m so proud of our boys, as many of them are just boys and what a future they have.

Jgrant39

{Ed025's Note - absolutely JGrant mate..

I think last nights PSG Newcastle showed how crazy it’s getting now. How that was a penalty I just don’t know. Definitely makes you think that there is a level of corruption in the game now.

Yes agree with the above post that 40M is a good deal and should really suit both parties. However Southampton are pushing for more, as I guess that they also have to factor in a 20% sell on fee back to City, which would be 8M, so quite substantial. However if Southampton push for more its a risk as no guarantee City will take him back for the 40M buy back. I can see them agreeing around 40M with additional bonuses built in. let's see but sounds like he wants to join us and I trust Klopp and if he lives up to his potential could be a really nice signing.

never understand the Jota bashing. Very clever player who has an eye for goal and can play across the front line. If JK rates him enough to give him a contract extension then that's good enough for me.
