One for Ed2 if possible,

Naturally there have been links with Ismaila Sarr over the last couple of weeks, naturally, he as a player, would have much to consider prior to any move ( game time etc) . However, my question is purely, is it even financially achievable? I appreciate you not wanting to get involved with finance, so I am not looking for anything in depth on that front, but is the interest serious and what would LFC need to do in order to make that possible (in the event they are interested)

Thanks as always.

JimmyJammy

{Ed002's Note - It would depend on what he costs and what money Liverpool can raise through sales less perhaps 25%. There is certainly not money sat around doing nothing.}

1.) 18 Aug 2020 13:23:31
Fantastic. Thanks for the reply Ed. Absolute gent. Have a great afternoon.

2.) 18 Aug 2020 14:24:13
Ismaila Sarr makes little sence to me. Despite the CV issue hitting us badly financially we would have had real issues this season anyway with the African players leaving after Xmas to join the national teams. Explaining why we would be looking at players like Werner. With the African tournament now moved back till 2022 we have some breathing space, but why would be bring in another African winger? If we look at Chelsea, UTD, City the effects of the tournament on them is minimaml, which would have made this season v difficult for us if the tournament had gone ahead.

3.) 18 Aug 2020 15:38:56
AFCON is only a few weeks we would manage but I personally don't see the fuss over Sarr he was apparently good in France but he didn't do a lot last season except against us lol.

4.) 19 Aug 2020 05:31:25
Surely we should be looking for home grown players to boost our numbers If as the Eds say it's necessary to increase them.

Question for Ed2, if possible.
I know you have touched upon him before, but the Watford Observer have today suggested that Liverpool have been in contact with Ismailia Sarr's representatives. I am not sure if this is something you would know, however history suggests there is a good chance you will, is this the case, to your knowledge?

Appreciate your time as always.

JimmyJammy

{Ed002's Note - Ismaila Sarr (RW) has had a disrupted season after moving from Rennes and might become available with Watford being relegated and Wolves have enquired after him - wanting to be kept informed just in case Adama Traore is sold. Crystal Palace have him on their list of potential Wilfried Zaha replacements but he is not their first choice but they could turn to him if their first choice heads elsewhere. It has been suggested that Liverpool are interested but whilst he would make a good replacement for Shaqiri but (a) would Sarr want to limit his playing time to that which Shaqiri gets, (b) he is not Home Grown, (c) he would block Harvey Elliott's progression, (d) the owners of Watford will almost certainly not give any discount to Liverpool, and (e) like the last few players asked about, would depart for AFCON when it happens as he is Senegalese. I am not aware of any approach to Watford but the club may have spoken with his agent.

Interest could come from France but the citca €40M asking price might be an issue for most.}

1.) 04 Aug 2020 16:26:41
I really like him he ruined us when he played against us but admittedly I don’t watch him week in week out and if he is playing second fiddle to mane and salah while he learns his trade his time to shine would be while mo and mane are away at account so if we lost him too we would have no first choice and no backup would be a strange signing when we need a cb especially at £40 mil.

2.) 04 Aug 2020 17:00:53
Can be very head down and lack end product but talent there when doesn’t trip over himself.

3.) 04 Aug 2020 17:05:03
Ed, your response is really appreciated. Thank you.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

4.) 04 Aug 2020 20:11:41
Can’t really see the Watford owners wanting to deal with us after that business with Zielinski, I don’t think we covered ourselves in glory and it’s left some enmity between the parties.

Evening Ed’s,

Just a quick question regarding Juan Castillo, is he still with the Ajax 2nd string on loan, and if so, is there an option for them to buy? Is he a player that we have an interest in or simply a viable and sensible suggestion of yours?

Thanks as always.

JimmyJammy

{Ed002's Note - No he is back at Chelsea and may well be available. He is not a player Liverpool has shown an interest in but as the fans are keen for another option I suggested him as he is very well respected, under 21 and Home Grown.}

1.) 13 Jul 2020 18:00:37
Thanks for the reply Ed, I have literally just read something suggesting interest and remembers you making a mention of him. Appreciate the swift reply. Thank you.

3.) 13 Jul 2020 20:39:26
Would you say he was currently a step above larouci and Lewis right now?

{Ed002's Note - From what I am told he is. He is also capable of making the transition as Lamptey has done.}

4.) 14 Jul 2020 07:27:06
Thanks Ed, I’ve always been impressed with the Chelsea youth set up, seems to be ahead of the other in England in having players at the appropriate level to transition into playing at premier league level.

Really rate Lampety already showing his talent at Brighton.

{Ed002's Note - It has taken a long time and a great deal of money but the system is churning out good players. Lamptey left because he was ready to step up but Reece James was ahead of him.}

5.) 14 Jul 2020 10:21:28
What do you think is lacking at Liverpool’s academy vs Chelsea’s in order to get up to a similar standard?

I know we have made big strides since the days of pre Benitez, but still a long way to go!

Just hopefully we can start seeing some players make that 100 game mark rather than the odd debut to then have to move on.

{Ed002's Note - It would be the equivalent of at least a couple of years behind right now.}

6.) 18 Jul 2020 13:42:00
Money is the answer IMO. Chelsea and City sign young players from all over the world paying them and their clubs much more than LFC can offer. They farm a lot of them out to develop elsewhere. After Brexit it might be a bit more difficult to get them all work permits but I am sure they will be able to place them with " friendly" clubs in Europe until they were ready.

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea and Manchester City do not pay youngsters more than anyone else. Liverpool’s wage bill is more than both Manchester City and Chelsea. Where do you get this stuff?}

Morning Ed's,

I was having a chat with a friend yesterday and he has been convinced by someone that he describes as "well placed" that Liverpool have had AZ's Myron Boadu watched.

It's my Birthday, so please do not shout at me if this has been asked or if it is just complete nonsense regarding a random name 😂

Thanks as always and wishing all a good day.

JimmyJammy

{Ed002's Note - Happy birthday. Myron Boadu (S) AZ are not looking to sell but Milan have asked about MB and captain Teun Koopmeiners, whilst Ajax are keen to take MB - but much will depend on what his agent maps out for the future. Newcastle, Roma and Crystal Palace have been watching but he needs to wait a while.}

1.) 30 Jun 2020 09:37:12
Ahh, well thank you. Thanks for the swift and detailed response, Ed. really appreciate it.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

24 Jun 2020 09:38:52
Morning Ed’s and Reds,

Seeing a bit of frenzy occurring as a Christian Falk has come out suggesting that Thiago Alcantara has ceased contract negotiations with Bayern and “wants to join Liverpool”. This all seems a little fanciful and his injury record is more than troubling. That, plus he is 29 makes this a little less than convincing, however, I thought I would bring it to you and would be grateful if you could advise if there is any interest from Liverpool in the player?

Thanks for your time, as always.

JimmyJammy

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in the player from Liverpool but Bayern Munich were aware it was possible he would want to leave and have identified two options to replace him if he were sold.}

1.) 24 Jun 2020 09:54:09
Really appreciate your swift response Ed, thank you. Have a good day.

2.) 24 Jun 2020 11:28:37
He may “want” to join us. But he’s of absolutely no use to us whatsoever, he doesn’t fit into our system, he’s too lightweight for the premier league, he’s too old and too injury prone.

3.) 24 Jun 2020 13:54:20
Thiago could walk into just about any midfield in the world.

Ed,
Do you think LFC are being mentioned to drive up the price? Seems like a move to Barcelona would make a lot of sense if Arthur is truly leaving.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool nor Barcelona. He would command a high fee and at 29 would not give much of a return.}

Hi all,

Could any of the Ed's confirm when the televised fixtures are likely to be announced?

Thanks for your time as always.

JimmyJammy

{Ed047's Note - Sky haven’t released any yet Jimmy, just check their website and BT’s but sure they’ll make the necessary big announcements when they know what games they’re showing.

It can’t be long now mate.

1.) 28 Aug 2020 13:33:36
They said last week after the fixtures were announced it'd be some time this week. Maybe some stage today🤷‍♀️.

{Ed002's Note - There is an issue to resolve with the FA and PL which they have been discussing on and off this week.}

A horrible game of football, Fans make a huge difference, I feel it took a lot from the derby, however, I am not about to complain about that, just delighted that the world is in a position we can enjoy live sport again. Another point towards the title. Roll on Wednesday!

JimmyJammy

1.) 21 Jun 2020 23:50:44
Average performance we miss Robbo and Salah massively. But, rusty as expected and a Derby away is no easy game. I Never thought we’d win it early on anyway like everyone kept saying, I’m expecting Brighton away we’ll pick up the final points needed.

2.) 22 Jun 2020 01:12:52
Weird game. I hate to say it but we were well below par and didn't look like a team about to win the title. I've got a worry, and I'm probably being overly critical, but with our fitness regime our players are primed to play from August to May. Maybe our boys' bodies aren't ready to cope with an extra 2/ 3 months. I know it's the same for everybody but with lfc our fitness and energy are what put us above the rest. That was absent today. We nearly lost to a poor Everton side. If migs were our gk we probably would've lost that game. But also Trent was really unlucky with one of his fks. It took a deflection, otherwise it was going in. Also fabs fk was close. That could have won the game and I don't think we would have given Everton the space had we took the lead.

I thought mino looked out of sorts, upfront on the wing. He kept coming towards the ball or going Central and it didn't work or even nearly work. Aoc would've been better as he has pace and looked good. Really good player. Oh well, it's a point and not a loss.

I thought fabhino played really well. He was everywhere and although he gave the ball away once or twice he was all over the park. Looked really strong physically. Such an asset. We missed Robertson a lot and salah's directness and pace would've created space.

3.) 22 Jun 2020 06:58:32
This is not only a defence of Liverpool but all teams. Fans including myself are saying the games are like a pre season game. Usually players will get roughly
1 month off
6 weeks pre season
7+ pre season friendlies

Currently all players have had
3 months off
3 weeks of training
1 friendly

The reason the games feel like pre season friendlies is because that’s where the players currently are. I can see the next few rounds of fixtures being the exact same before all players and teams are back to full intensity.

4.) 22 Jun 2020 07:29:57
We lost the entire complexion once Keita was hooked. He was the only threat from midfield and the player linking with Mane and Firmino. Everything came through him.

5.) 22 Jun 2020 07:57:08
Robbie I thought Ox was poor when he came on yesterday. Didn’t really offer anything. Minamino was coming short in first half but he got on the ball quote a bit. When him, bobby and Nabby came off it appeared to throw us a little. Origi offered very little when he came on and Lovren was his usual emotional erratic self.

6.) 22 Jun 2020 08:19:04
First game back after a long spell off. A derby. It was always going to be an off-pace, cagey game.

The main positive is that we didn't lose.

I'm sure we'll become more clinical as the games go on.

7.) 22 Jun 2020 08:54:16
Keita played extremely well. But one of the main reasons the game got played through him so much was because he was given too much room. Love his link up play though and hopefully so much morw to come from him. Give Everton their credit as well, they were very well organised and also deserved their point.

8.) 22 Jun 2020 09:30:16
I thought he was busy playing LWB and baby sitting Milner Harry?

{Ed001's Note - obviously a very good LWB then, maybe it is his future role?}

9.) 22 Jun 2020 10:38:28
Coz he drifted inside and that’s how her plays, it’s NRI about the room. He ran at Everton and got in behind their midfield at will. They couldn’t stop his acceleration and that’s his best feature.

Shaq
Yes he was until he got pissed it and started to take the game by himself. Every chances game through and by him.

10.) 22 Jun 2020 11:44:19
Aoc wasn't amazing jk23, but his directness was starting to stretch Everton a bit, something we struggled with yesterday. And he made a nice run which resulted in a free kick. The one fab nearly put in but pickFord tipped it over I think. I just think his willingness to run at the defence looked more dangerous than mino coming short.

11.) 22 Jun 2020 18:53:47
Shaq Attack, you read my mind. Love it.

Morning all,

Just wanted to share my delight at the football being back! Regardless of "crowd noises" being piped or not, simply a joy to see some competitive prem football.

Have a good day.

Like most, I would love to see the club "buy Big" but honestly, I am more than comfortable with the squad, I am delighted with the young players coming through, in relation to those leaving. Williams at RB, Jones for Lallana etc. Whilst it is a lovely thought to bring in big names. m, I feel System fitting players take precedence, I feel we have seen enough to suggest that current crop are more than capable of stepping up and filling vacant spots. Lovely as it would be to bring in all the top names, if it is not viable financially, there is little point in getting overly concerned, the current crop have us in front by a country mile as it stands and with players leaving, I certainly, on a personal level, feel the quality in the squad will not necessarily drop. Merely an opinion, there may well still be a few tweaks here and there, but I am more than relaxed with the situation.

Hope you all have a great evening and thanks again to all the Ed's for your work.
