Thanks ed02 for all your great insight. Sorry if you have answered this, but might we make a late bid for Palhinha- like Virgil and Alisson, think he could have a transformative impact on our team which Enda and Doucoure probably won't have.

JoeBuck

{Ed002's Note - There is a bid coming for Paulinho tonight perhaps but it is unrelated to Liverpool.}

1.) 30 Aug 2023 18:58:21
That will be from BM to replace Gravenberch.

2.) 30 Aug 2023 19:18:55
Correct Marty from what I understand this all to do with the cole Palmer, nunes deal but who knew.

3.) 30 Aug 2023 19:21:31
Who might be bidding for Paulinho ed002?

{Ed002's Note - Bayern Munich are looking for a deal Drogie.}

4.) 30 Aug 2023 19:47:34
Funny how bayern are prepared to let gravenberch leave for around 30m and splash probably 60m on paulinha. Paulinha is the one we should of gone for. but he's too old. Nonsense. Gravenberch vastly overrated.

5.) 30 Aug 2023 20:44:18
Right player at the right price Magico.

6.) 30 Aug 2023 20:04:11
Thanks ed002.

7.) 30 Aug 2023 20:05:14
Cheers ed002
Drogie.

8.) 30 Aug 2023 21:25:25
Paulinha would have been a great signing for our engine room.

9.) 30 Aug 2023 22:11:46
Right player for cheap skates more like wdw.

10.) 30 Aug 2023 22:12:17
Gravenberch looks an excellent talent Magico.

11.) 30 Aug 2023 22:31:54
Gravenberch will be this team’s Wijnaldum.

12.) 30 Aug 2023 22:46:35
Slightly depressing that we go for Gravenberch and Bayern sign a much better replacement, surely we should be signing Palinha he is exactly what we need being solid, consistent, good age in his prime, defensively very solid and has premier league experience! Gravenberch is exactly what we don’t need, unproven, poor defensively, poor first touch, high wages, wants guaranteed game time and has had 2 coaches refuse to give him game time ( red flag) .

Let’s be real people the only reason we are going for him is his price and age.

13.) 30 Aug 2023 23:15:15
Gravenberch will be this teams Paulo Wanchope.
Consistently inconsistent.

14.) 31 Aug 2023 10:58:22
will it make LFC job harder to get Gravenberch, if B. M can't get Paulinha? thanks eds.

{Ed002's Note - No, as it looks for now that Kimmich is staying and they have representatives in London dealing with potential transfers and one club they have a meeting scheduled with is Fulham where they will make an offer.}

Just wondered about the Frimpong rumours - assume he would come as first choice, so does anyone know of any plans to move Trent to midfield? He would need a pre-season to adjust, but think he could be either a phenomenal Pirlo like no 6, or become our De Bruyne. Thanks for your thoughts.

1.) 10 Mar 2023 19:32:33
Other than picklered I've seen nothing that we re in for him.

2.) 10 Mar 2023 19:37:16
Being honest, it’s (just another) rumour that doesn’t really make sense. We have one of the best right backs in the world who is still maturing, we have two excellent prospects in Ramsey and Bradley. We need other positions improving as a priority.

3.) 10 Mar 2023 20:26:05
What’s this obsession of moving Trent into midfield?

4.) 10 Mar 2023 20:38:52
I think we have more interest in timber from Ajax and can see this happening if he's going to make the move it's now or never and I think he will give us a viable threat from the middle with his long shot ability. We could also switch him back to rb against low block teams. Can't see us signing timber to play cb at 5"9.

5.) 10 Mar 2023 23:14:14
I hope he's solid ?.

6.) 11 Mar 2023 00:27:38
In my opinion TAA has been shocking in defence and is too lazy and slow and has no positional sense at all. I’d love is to get a new right back. TAA is a great footballer. Just never a defender in a million years.

7.) 11 Mar 2023 07:02:13
Trent is the best right back in the world. What he can do from right back is otherworldly. However, he needs to play in a system that suits him. The last two seasons have overcomplicated his game. Klopp seems to have finally identified that and reverted back to the old system, at least for the fullbacks.

Trent’s superpower is his ability make those longer passes and switches with his first touch. Nobody in world football right now can do this to his level.

Putting him in midfield would reduce the use of his superpower.

As for his defending - in the right system he’s adequate. If our system works, we’re very rarely having to chase runners in behind.

8.) 11 Mar 2023 08:17:58
Poster Monty (born 1981?) Vs Klopp (one of the worlds best coaches) . Hmm I wonder who’s most likely to be right about Trent?

9.) 11 Mar 2023 09:54:00
If the club can persuade him to compete with Trent then great. The kid would need plenty of self confidence and not chase an almost guaranteed starting place elsewhere. I think unlikely. Trent needs competition either way. I would go for Baku from Wolfsburg who can cover both Trent and Salah.

10.) 11 Mar 2023 12:45:54
Okay then, I agree with everyone. Trent is the best defender in the world and never makes any mistakes. In fact he is probably the most in form player in the world and plays in the best team in the world that are also in the best form. That being said, we are struggling to compete in any competition this season and mostly this is to do with defence. But I will retract all my Trent comments. He is world class and doesn’t make any mistakes, so is Fabinho.

11.) 11 Mar 2023 14:20:45
Today basically sums up what Trent is all about. Good to have in your team when you are playing well, but the last person you would want when things are bad. He’s had yet another shocker.

12.) 11 Mar 2023 17:59:29
Trent’s potential is extraordinary obviously, but let’s be honest Robertson has been far more effective on the opposite side both offensively and defensively with far less natural ability, he’s simply a more rounded player. If you offered me a right footed Robertson clone I’d play him ahead of Trent all day long. Trent is a midfielder for me.

13.) 11 Mar 2023 19:53:21
Exactly Westwood and yet again Trent was awful defensively today but fans will just blindly defend him. Can't blame tactics now because he isn't bombing forward enough. He's a midfielder as he was throughout his youth.

14.) 11 Mar 2023 22:24:26
I just think the back 4 needs a good looking at. Trent for me at the very very least needs competition, he’s getting it so easy. VVD also, just seems a bit arrogant to the point of complacency. He’s a great defender and our best, but nowhere near the level he should be at. Konate to me looks great. But please, get rid of Gomez and Matip. I was defending Matip last year but he has proven all his doubters right this season. If we are going to play games like todays with kids in midfield, I think the defence are going to have to put in a shift. And today, they didn’t. I one did, and that’s why we lost, and it just seems to be happening every other week. Like what is the actual point in going and d*cking united 7-0 if we lose to Bournemouth. It’s pathetic and not good enough.

15.) 12 Mar 2023 00:48:08
Like it or not, it's the way we play. Our two fullbacks need to be creating chances by getting forward. Robertson should have put us one up today and then it's a different game. It's the chance we take but this season the midfield can't offer the same insurance when they do go.

I'm sure that it has crossed Klopp's mind about TAA playing in midfield but I'm also sure that Klopp would think it would weaken TAA's best attributes.

16.) 12 Mar 2023 18:39:26
Frimpongs manager is xabi alonso he joined the club as manager on 06 October 2022, they were then fourth from bottom they have now moved up to seventh place in the bundseliga, Frimpong made one and scored one today as they won 3-2 away from home.

"Well Done" Joe Buck he looks like a very, very good player.

His old team mate Steven Gerrard has flown to Istanbul for talks with Trabszonspor as their new manager.

17.) 12 Mar 2023 20:06:27
Correction to the above i heard it on the radio first they are actually ninth in the bundesliga, but knowing xabi it wiil be higher than seventh at the end of the season?

Thunderbird 2 must be playing in his bedroom with his Thunderbird toys or Miss Penelope, or doing his homework for school tomorrow as he takes great delight in my posts?

Indeed in replying to a previous post of mine he said "go back to the asylum and your husband" calling into question my mental capabilities and sexual status?

"F. A. B" message received and understood "Nosey" Parker!

18.) 13 Mar 2023 09:02:54
it seems Trents game or the tactics with Trent has changed, he often drifts into the middle of the park where he is bound to be less effective. Whereas Robertson just stays on the outside and his effectiveness doesn't seem to have changed. He is still a fantastic passer and crosser of a ball which we shouldn't lose sight of. Fabinho looks like he is getting back to form with every game he has young Bacjetic next to him. Top 4 is still there we just need to get behind them . YNWA.

19.) 13 Mar 2023 15:39:20
Hi 1jj,

You could repeat your reply to Monty for any football question regarding LFCs first eleven teams that have ever been posted on this forum while Jurgen has been manager, even to your own posts! unless of course you know more than Jurgen, my apologies if you do know more than Jurgen?

No one who has ever posted on this forum will ever have Jurgen's football knowledge or experience that is obvious! it also includes myself, you and everyone who writes a post on this LFC banter forum!

The posters role and Eds included is to discuss and express opinions, ideas, solutions, failures, errors, mistakes, signings to be made to improve the current LFC first team etc, some posters will disagree or agree with a posting, that is normal, hence why it is a healthy football "BANTER" forum.

I know more than Jurgen (nargh, nargh, nargh, nargh, nargh)?

20.) 13 Mar 2023 16:19:21
Seeing Trent this season looks like he doesn't like defending and is not enjoying it. He could have done better against Bournemouth (the goal they scored) . Can he play in midfield? I don't know. But he is definitely not enjoying Right back now.

{Ed025's Note - its his boots Goan....he is too big for them mate, add to that his head being bigger than Birkenhead and i think we see the problem..

Hearing that Arnaut Danjuma is coming in the summer - looks a fine prospect at 22 with two great feet and pace to burn
- perfect Mane understudy. Got a friend who lives in Brugge and he says he's the best player there for past 10 years - although that may not be saying much😊.

JoeBuck

1.) 09 Feb 2019 23:18:27
For the past 10 years? So he's been the best player there since he's 12? Doesn't bode well for Belgian football.

2.) 09 Feb 2019 23:40:52
I don’t think that’s quite what joe buck meant.

3.) 11 Feb 2019 18:26:23
Wha'? People can't make a joke now? ¬_¬.

19 Nov 2018 18:52:32
Hi Eds, just wondering whether there might be any interest in Arnautovic? I know he is approaching 30 but would be a Ronny Rosenthal type signing to boost 2nd half of season and allow Bobby to play deeper. Cheers.

JoeBuck

{Ed025's Note - chelsea and everton are both chasing him joe but i have not heard any links to liverpool mate..

1.) 19 Nov 2018 19:08:31
Thanks mate, great info as always.

{Ed025's Note - your welcome..

2.) 19 Nov 2018 20:47:53
Arnautovic! Dear god no! He would be an awful signing.

3.) 19 Nov 2018 21:48:53
Do you know what was great about fergie.

On here I know.

He played the season. Not always he future. If he had no goals off the bench he would sign a 50 year with a good super sub record, If he lacked pace or needed a in he wouldn't think twice of streghening for the second half of the season with someone to make sure they didn't fall off the league.

What good is an 18 year old future worldy going to do second half of the season. I really like the idea of Arnie, he could give a nice boost to the team.

Most certainly want Callum Wilson though!

4.) 19 Nov 2018 22:01:13
I wouldn’t be happy with bobby playing deeper unless we were to play a 4-2-3-1, otherwise he doesn’t offer what we need for an attacking midfielder. Having said hat he’s not offering what’s we need as a striker either but his off the ball work is keeping him in there, plus a lack of competition. I’d love a player like lacazette who could play centrally or out wife effectively to challenge firmino because he’s been well off the pace since the World Cup.

5.) 19 Nov 2018 22:11:24
I don’t seem to recall Fergie ever signing a 50 year old.

6.) 20 Nov 2018 13:05:51
Everton chasing Marco a? Why would he swap one also ran for another? Seems odd, he may aswell stay at West ham! Lol.

7.) 20 Nov 2018 15:07:27
He did loan 37 year old Henrik Larsson.

8.) 20 Nov 2018 11:30:02
Didn't Arnautovic, or his brother, recently claim he deserved to be playing in the Champions League Ed025? Just wondering why Everton would be interested if that was the case.

{Ed025's Note - he wants a team that is going places johnny and everton fits the bill, of course a CL qualifier would be top of his list i imagine and thats why chelsea would be favourite, but the quality of players everton are amassing is impressing a lot of players so dont rule us out mate, he is nearly 30 so will not fit a lot of teams brief but i would love him at everton and he says he is a man of the people...so where better to go than "the peoples club"..

9.) 20 Nov 2018 21:25:51
I love your optimism ed 25! Always makes me laugh! He will go top 5. he won't want a backwards step just yet.

{Ed025's Note - i dont think even accrington would be a backward step from west ham badboy, we are on the up and he could do a lot worse than joining us mate, the school of science is back in session and there is a new force in england my friend and it goes by the name of EVERTON...be afraid..be very afraid.. :)

I've read that the blues are interested in Thomas Meunier, who has only started 12 games for PSG this season - would be a great addition at RB for us, which would give TAA the breathers he needs.

JoeBuck

1.) 28 Feb 2019 21:22:45
i think Nordi Mukiele from Leipzing could be a great signing for us young and can play CB AND RB.

{Ed002's Note - He is a RB who can cover at CB who Liverpool has no interest in.}

04 Jan 2019 19:04:59
Hi Eds, this time last year there were strong rumours linking us with a €25m bid for Some Vsraljko, who I rate as one of the best right backs in the world. I know he has gone to Inter on loan but wondered if they will make the deal permanent and if not, whether we might still be interested? Many thanks.

JoeBuck

{Ed002's Note - Vrsaljko will move to Inter.}

1.) 04 Jan 2019 22:16:35
Are Inter just trying to build a club-side version of the Croatian national side Ed? Weren’t they after Modric in the summer too? ;)

{Ed002's Note - They may sell him on. They have to fix a financial problem and have a big wants list - so they have to sell creatively with meetings mid next week over a couple of players and discussions being scheduled with agents in Geneva.}

Thanks Ed 25. Always enjoy your comments and good natured views at our “ socialist moral crusade”. Incidentally, I thought Fat Rat and Paul McGrath were the best centre backs of the 80s and either would be a perfect partner with VVD in an all time X1.

JoeBuck

{Ed025's Note - hi joe, Paul McGrath cant enter that race for me mate because of his injury record, Franz Beckenbauer was the best i have ever seen closely followed by the late great Bobby Moore and Brian Labone, im afraid them 3 make VVD look like Harry Maguire..

Having grown up with Crazy Horse, Jockey, Lawro etc, I can categorically say that even at 75% of his peak, Virgil is still our greatest Centre Back and one of the world’s best. Love that Gvardiol grew up a Red with his Dad, but the ideal scenario would be to pay his release clause in summer ‘24. Virgil can switch to the right if needs be, but will still be up there.

JoeBuck

{Ed025's Note - crazy horse was a midfielder, i dont know who jockey is and lawro was half decent joe, hansen and hyypia were far better than VVD for me mate..
