Ed1,
Have you heard anyrhing re Nunez and Napoli?
Seems close now.

JoeTheRedLFC2

{Ed001's Note - only that he was hanging on for a Spanish club.}

Ed1,
How you feeling mate? Getting excited?

Have you heard anything recently btw? This week you were saying he wanted to join the pool years ago and still was keen. Great info, obviously a big factor in this move MAYBE going ahead.

JoeTheRedLFC2

{Ed001's Note - I don't want to jinx anything mate. But yes, I am trying not to get excited but failing miserably. I absolutely love watching him play, he makes footie into art at times. Everything I hear suggests all is good, but anything can happen, remember Berbatov getting literally kidnapped by Fergie on his way to sign a deal? And that is just one of a number of times transfers have been gazumped over the years. So am going to keep trying to hold it all in until I see the lean. Though, thinking about it, we have even had moves fall through after getting all the pics and vids done, so maybe I should wait until he actually trots out onto the turf wearing our kit?}

1.) 23 May 2025 18:53:35
Thinking about Fekir Ed? Till this day I haven't got any idea why it didn't got through. Pretty excited about it at the time as well.

{Ed001's Note - that's him. All because his family tried to renegotiate the deal and he has gone public recently admitting that he has found it hard to forgive them.}

2.) 23 May 2025 18:56:47
This guy is worth the money you reckon? I've only ever seen him when we beat them at Anfield and he wasn't very noticeable that game. He seems very highly rated though.

{Ed001's Note - if anyone is worth the money, he is. He is incredibly talented and has shown real drive and desire too.}

3.) 23 May 2025 19:11:24
We I heard he tops the bundesliga for winning the ball back in attacking third over last two seasons, says it all.

Hard working superstars. I love players with such skill and attacking flair but still care about the defensive side and work equally hard at that.

Another player that springs to mind with this quality is Julian Alvarez. Just in case Hughes decides he wants to make us completely unstoppable.

4.) 23 May 2025 19:21:25
I heard Fekir failed the medical Ed….

5.) 23 May 2025 19:27:54
Wirtz has performed amazingly on the right hand side also, the options he brings in attack are frightening considering we get a proper striker and more to come.

6.) 23 May 2025 20:41:55
Ed. doesn't he take Szbos role in the squad or do you think we will play him as a false 9? I haven't watched much of him at all, do our tactics change at all if he is to sign?

{Ed001's Note - horses for courses, sometimes false 9, sometimes deeper as a 10.}

20 Apr 2025 09:38:34
Ed1,
Fabrizio mentioning xavi Simmons again, maybe on the move.
So,

1. Do you know of any interest in him from us?
2. Your opinion on him? Would you want him at the club? If we were to sell Harvey I wouldn’t half mind Simmons coming in!

JoeTheRedLFC2

{Ed001's Note - 1. No, not any more.
2. Not good enough. Would be no improvement on what we have. I don't understand the hype, most of the time he offers nothing.}

1.) 20 Apr 2025 11:06:04
From a good source KDB is a real possibility for LFC both parties are looking into it. KDB is very open to the switch apparently.

2.) 20 Apr 2025 13:40:00
I do wonder if KDB could do a Pirlo and make City regret letting him leave.

3.) 20 Apr 2025 14:50:46
I’d take de bruyne if we could get him in a heavily incentivised contract, him passing to salah would be sublime.

4.) 20 Apr 2025 15:43:49
I’d take KDB in a heartbeat. He’s better than Szobo and the only challenge is keeping him fit. If we took a punt on Chiesa then this should be a no brainer.

5.) 20 Apr 2025 18:32:39
Szobo hasn’t done enough in a Liverpool shirt at all for me. Him the left wing, left back and a striker are all areas we could definitely improve.

6.) 20 Apr 2025 18:54:51
We don't need another mid table level dutchman when we already have Gakpo.

7.) 20 Apr 2025 18:59:25
Szobo’s form for 75% of the season is why we are 1 win away from the title. His hard running style means he burns out in the final third of a season - which is something we need to address if we want to win Champs League.

8.) 20 Apr 2025 19:34:06
Rubbish. We’d have won games with other players stepping in for me. Szobo doesn’t score enough, assist enough and is not direct enough in his play. Weak link moving forward in my opinion.

9.) 20 Apr 2025 19:55:31
Jeez, Szobo has been a great player for us, a pressing machine - needs to shoot more imo but a great player.

10.) 20 Apr 2025 21:05:01
Szob has been ineffective and had no impact on most games. Elliot looked far better in 10 minutes than Szob has looked for about qames. Running around and making no tackles, no assists as a number 10 and no goals. For over £60m he’s unfortunately been as much a waste as Nunez has been.

11.) 20 Apr 2025 22:12:37
KdB doesn’t play enough games, always been a sicknote and it’s only going to get worse.

12.) 20 Apr 2025 22:31:04
It would take up a lot of our wage budget to sign KDB. As good as he has been over the years, I don’t think it would be a good use of funds.

Would remind me more of us signing Thiago than Milner.

Phenomenal player but too much of a risk and hard to keep fit for the season.

Also it’s incredible how bad Szobozlai is as we CRUISE to a 20th league title.

Could be score and assist more? Of course, but he’s a great player, great technique and often leads the press this season in his new role pushed up off the striker.

13.) 20 Apr 2025 22:33:42
Get him and put him right back. Problem solved ?.

14.) 20 Apr 2025 23:31:30
for anyone coming in, I just hope Slot is on board. cos I'd hate to see anyone come in and then just sit on the bench all season.

15.) 21 Apr 2025 00:30:50
I can agree Simons as a child prodigy, but as an adult professional he's just slightly above average. Despite having a good tournament last summer for Holland. And I'd be wary of a player who doesn't settle - 3 teams in the last 5 years (Barcelona to PSG, then PSV, and then to Leipzig) .

16.) 21 Apr 2025 06:46:34
Anybody who would swap szoboszlai for the current kdb. I have no words really, I'm just glad you're not in a position to make personnel changes at our club, truly.

{Ed078's Note - "current" being the word. Szoboszlai's work rate is incredible.

17.) 21 Apr 2025 13:50:48
Romano most of the time is mouthpiece of agents agendas. Seems to have a LFC "agenda". Occasionally gets a dart right.

{Ed001's Note - remember when he was pumping out PSV's official statements with regard to Gakpo joining us and claiming they were exclusives?}

18.) 21 Apr 2025 18:47:54
Just proves most fans want big names rather than big players. KDB is not up to premier league standard anymore, even his passing range has left him. Would be the equivalent of signing Thiago again

Xavi Simmons didn't impress at PSG and Leipzig aren't impressed either. He doesn't listen to instructions very well according to some coaches.

Has some talent but swapping a home grown Elliot for a non home grown less ready version of the same player seems very dumb.

10 Apr 2025 20:27:31
Hi Ed,
Ornstein reporting we have met with Huijsens reps.
I think previously you said we had an interest.
Just wondering if you’re aware of any development or what LFC’s opinion is on him/ possible move for him?
Thanks.

JoeTheRedLFC2

{Ed001's Note - nothing I am aware of, he is very highly regarded.}

1.) 10 Apr 2025 20:47:11
I think if huijsen is coming in then probably konate is going out. He left juve because he didn't want to sit on the bench can't see him doing it again.

2.) 10 Apr 2025 21:09:19
Ed001, would you have either Huijsen or VVD playing RCB if indeed Konate may leave? Huijsen is a LCB, and I presume he's being brought in now to gradually replace Virg, but if he wants game time straight away he's going to struggle unless one of them switches.

{Ed001's Note - or it could be time to let Virgil go?}

3.) 10 Apr 2025 21:48:36
Wow, Ed001, that would be a bold move. I still think Virg will sign, but I wonder if he may the one to get sold during his 2 year contract?

Or do you think they just may not sign it?

{Ed001's Note - I expect him to sign, I was just saying that it has to be worth considering.}

4.) 10 Apr 2025 23:11:43
Huijsens good. but virgil is virgil. Still the best in England by a distance.

5.) 10 Apr 2025 23:18:03
Thought it was reported that he fancies himself at RM.

6.) 10 Apr 2025 23:39:09
To be fair, John, most of the players at RM fancy themselves.

Also, if Huijsen fancies Real, so be it. If we get a few good years out of him, great.

I'm not sold on the "every player needs to want to play for us forever" mantra. Maybe players want to experience different cultures and experiences (like Salah wrote about Trent on the 'Discussion' page.

As long as the players and club treat each other with respect and are fair, so be it. let's win what we can and no player is bigger than the club.

7.) 11 Apr 2025 00:39:47
I get players move on zed mate, but In my eyes we’re nobody’s stepping stone. If you going to sign for us do so cos you want to play here not because it will get you to your next move.

8.) 11 Apr 2025 01:14:14
I guess I don't mind as much mate.

Huijsen is a Spaniard, so it's only natural that he'd want to play for Barcelona or Real at some point, just like every English player would want to play for us!

9.) 11 Apr 2025 01:36:16
Does Huijsen look at liverpool as a stepping stone?

10.) 11 Apr 2025 05:32:46
@Faith, apparently he was caught by a microphone discussing that very thing with Kerkez at a training session last Tuesday.

11.) 11 Apr 2025 07:37:22
I'm with zed I don't think it matters if we are a stepping stone as long as they help us win trophies and put in 100% while here. Suarez made it 100% clear he was only in it at Liverpool until Barcelona came calling and nobody was really mad about it.
The only I'd say is make sure huijsen contract is min 5 years so Madrid can't persuade him to play for us for three years then leave on a free again after two. If he's going to Madrid make sure they cough up next time.

12.) 11 Apr 2025 09:58:21
I tend to ignore logic when it comes to our club but I what if we decide to cash in on Ibou, move Virgil to RCB and bring Huisen in to play LCB? Virgil's passing range at RCB would compensate for Trent's departure and Huisen's progessive carrying/ passing from LCB could give us a new dimension along with whoever we bring in at LB.

I'll put the logic back in the box now.

13.) 11 Apr 2025 11:03:49
We would be weakening our starting 11 Pelican. Huijsen is a top prospect but for the here and now i would still have Ibou comfortably ahead of him. Ibous been a bit dodgy lately but largely superb this season.

14.) 11 Apr 2025 11:30:53
Florian, I hear your argument and don't disagree with you.

However, don't rule out something like that happening.

15.) 11 Apr 2025 20:42:25
Nah ibou going nowhere.

16.) 12 Apr 2025 10:37:41
Scouse John, you're living in a different era mate players do what they want. they run football, we are seeing prime example a 33 and 32 year old players demanding massive contracts and getting them.

The days of Carra and Stevie G are gone. the players are in it for what they can get. Do you remember Nick Barmby scored for efc kissing his badge a couple of days later he is in a red shirt?

19 Mar 2025 13:50:35
Ed001 mate,
Hope all is well with you!
Just wondering if you’ve heard of any actual names we have a genuine interest in? Not just the usual rumours!

Cheers.

JoeTheRedLFC2

{Ed001's Note - I haven't mate, I have been too busy to chase up any rumours.}

1.) 19 Mar 2025 16:55:33
Thanks Ed!

2.) 19 Mar 2025 18:16:34
Busy with the Southampton review eh Ed?

{Ed001's Note - something like that. Family visiting.}

Hey guys,
Who do you think actually think Carra is?
lol
Macca I always presumed was Steve Mcmanaman? Perhaps someone can correct me.
I then thought Carra was Jamie Carragher.
But whoever Carra is, they threw me off with their last post, by saying they were getting married.
As Steve Mcmanaman and Jamie Carragher are of course, already married.
Would like to hear some opinions. Ed1? Maybe you know something;)

JoeTheRedLFC2

{Ed001's Note - neither of them are ex-players I am sure. I know Macca and he is not McManaman. No idea who carra is but I am very sure he is not carragher or any player.}

1.) 14 Jul 2025 22:00:55
Macca - Jason McAteer?

2.) 14 Jul 2025 22:14:41
ED001 wouldn't let that snake Macmanaman post on this site.

3.) 14 Jul 2025 22:24:17
Macca is Sir Paul McCartney and Carra is Bob Carolgees of Spit the Dog fame. The pair are great mates and go on cycling trips together around the coasts of Malta and Jersey. Both think that Howe will play a 433 with two wide men and will sell Isak to us.

4.) 14 Jul 2025 22:32:23
I doubt Jason mcateer can use the internet.

5.) 14 Jul 2025 22:36:08
McAteer is famously unencumbered by any ghost of a thought.

6.) 14 Jul 2025 22:40:07
I remember it being posted on here that Macca was a local businessman with close links to the club. So he got the odd bit of insider info.
Carras posts are very similar in how they are written so I wouldn’t be surprised one bit if it turned out to be Macca as well under a new name.

7.) 15 Jul 2025 01:40:08
I think Carra is Bozo Texino.

8.) 15 Jul 2025 04:07:28
I just seen that Newcastle are now in the mix for etikite sorry if incorrect spelling will thay mean no chance for LFC is so who else is there surely not the guy from Palace me personally id give Darwin another chance tell him what's at stake as he won't be as loved anywhere else I'm up so early deal with the dog before I leave for my work.

9.) 15 Jul 2025 05:00:23
Thanks Ed, Interesting!

10.) 15 Jul 2025 09:14:30
I think Macca is Tung Tung Tung Sahar and Carra is Bombardino Crocodilo.

Absolute Brainrot.

05 Jul 2025 18:19:35
When do we go back to “normal”?
Talking about transfers and all the fun rumours. When do we talk football again?
How does this Liverpool team respond? How do they deal without one of their brothers who stood and fought alongside them the last few years? How do they deal with the empty spot in the dressing room that he once occupied. The voice that called out during training sessions.
When do we smile again and celebrate Liverpool in a positive light?
It feels wrong. When are we supposed to forget Diogo?
We can’t….
Thinking of the family mourning him and André.
You wonder how long this sting will last.

JoeTheRedLFC2

1.) 05 Jul 2025 18:45:54
I was thinking the same Joe. For us on this site it will take a innocent question regarding a player or a transfer and maybe only 1 or 2 will reply to that post. Slowly bit by bit the regular posts will return. The important thing is everyone please don't feel guilty about wanting to post a regular message.

As for the Jota family and relatives God only knows when things will be normal for them only time can tell

Ed's and Reds YNWA.

2.) 05 Jul 2025 19:04:03
For me it seems natural to wait for the funeral to pass.

After that it’s just whatever feels natural for people.

3.) 05 Jul 2025 19:16:48
I was thinking about this myself. There have been calls to retire the number 20 shirt, and while that is the right thing to do, I feel like over time Diogo's names will leave everyone's lips as we move forward.

I would love the club to rename the Main Stand the Diogo Jota stand. That way his name and legacy lives on with the club on a weekly basis as opposed to anniversaries and ad hoc memorials. Just my 2 pence worth anyway! Would love to hear anyone's else's thoughts on how he could be honoured (apologies if this has been covered already as there have been so many touching tributes on this site it's hard to keep up with them all! ) .

4.) 05 Jul 2025 19:20:02
For everyone on here life will go back to what it was. For Diogo's family, life will never ever be the same. Their lives have been torn to shreds and they will never be pieced together the way they once were.

YNWA RIP 20.

5.) 05 Jul 2025 19:22:57
Grieving is a different process for everyone. For now try and think of the great memories and his hurting family.

I would think that Club will tale a few more days off after the funeral then get back in to office despite it likely being very hard. There is important business to do, they will now have to replace another important player, and we will want to get certain things sorted so we can and have a great season dedicated to #20.

YNWA #20.

6.) 05 Jul 2025 19:37:01
Sadness flies on the wings of time.

Gradually, we will surely get back to 'normal' but we will never forget. He is our number 20 forever!

7.) 05 Jul 2025 19:44:49
Players will take time to get over this no doubt. if I was a player the best thing for me would to get on the field as quick as possible and play, but that's only me and not to say that the right thing to do.

8.) 05 Jul 2025 19:53:28
I’m sure Jota would want the club to move forward and we’ve got extra motivation to have a great season.

9.) 05 Jul 2025 19:55:45
Well said Barry. One thing for certain is that the world doesn’t stop spinning for anyone. We will all deal with recent events in our own way and for some, like those who knew him best, then may never get over it.
I’ve lost both parents recently, not that I am looking for and sympathy or anything, and one thing that I have learned is that life has to go on. Needs to go on. The little distractions, like winning the league or even coming on here for some transfer chat and banter help. Little by little you move on. Sometimes you feel a little guilty, but I think that part of the healing process also.

10.) 05 Jul 2025 19:58:31
I agree with the sentiment of retiring the number 20 shirt, there’s a lot of resonance behind it and this will immortalise him for fans 100 years down the line. I hope the club do it. I think the question around transfers is an innocent and fair question particularly as the club have got to keep operating. I think it was a nice sentiment for the club to honour Diogo’s contract however.

11.) 05 Jul 2025 21:13:32
We will never forget Diogo, but as time passes it becomes a little easier. Mourning the loss will turn into celebrating his life. The fans will sing his name and his teammates will smile whilst thinking back on his memories. It will be an emotional season but it will be a celebration of an amazing footballer, friend, husband, father, son and brother. Clubs will unite in song and those who he left behind at Liverpool will carry on in his honour.

He will forever be our number 20 and we will see what it means to never walk alone.

12.) 05 Jul 2025 21:38:06
Personally I am waiting for the club to post a ‘normal’ post, until then I’m classing it as a period of mourning.

I think the 20 will naturally retire anyway, can’t imagine anyone wanting it. But he should forever be our 20. And my suggestion would be maybe a seat that remains his. I think a stand or statue, as much as lovely gestures may be too much but obviously just my opinion.

13.) 05 Jul 2025 22:54:29
The only thing I can think of right now is that a young man, a father, a husband and a son has tragically lost his life. Anything else feels slightly vulgar and in poor taste.

14.) 06 Jul 2025 04:28:07
Just whenever feels right for you.

More importantly I hope people take the moment to reflect on how they talk about players, especially our own

At the end of the day, they are people too.

29 Jun 2025 19:32:59
Seeing Chelsea getting Joao Pedro now. (What a ridiculous club)
Anyway, I wonder does this jeopardise our deal for Isak in anyway.
Interesting, dramatic few weeks ahead I’m sure.

JoeTheRedLFC2

1.) 29 Jun 2025 19:59:23
This transfer season is a little bit odd from them.

Not a huge fan of Gittens. Or Pedro and that's 100m plus gone.

Delap is a slight improvement on what they had.

I'll never rule anything out. They could all click but they have done nothing that overly worry me about a title challenge. Think they will remain off the pace.

It will be City and Arsenal from the looks of things but of course we need to see how everything plays out. Let's see what those clubs do over the remainder of the window. Rodri is huge for City. His return could put them right back up there if he comes back strong.

2.) 29 Jun 2025 20:03:28
We won’t be buying Isak. We need to move on. And quick.

3.) 29 Jun 2025 20:04:44
Do we have a deal for Isak?
It's not happening, imo.

4.) 29 Jun 2025 21:00:05
I’m quite happy to see Chelsea spunk the thick end of £60m on a striker who could only score 5 goals in open play.

5.) 29 Jun 2025 21:33:47
Indeed, VV. They are welcome to him esP; at 60m which is 5m less than what we paid for Darwin in actual cash.

6.) 29 Jun 2025 23:08:13
I really like Delap. But they buy so many players, it's really not a surprise to see their young players not develop at all.

20 Jun 2025 09:31:42
Ed001,
Apologies if this is the wrong page, wasn’t sure where else to post.
I value your opinion on players and you have great info, so I wanted to ask about Moussa Dembele at spurs.
Watched abit on him this morning, players opinions on him etc.
He looked top top class. Why did he never take off? What held him back?
Thanks as always,
And just delete if on the wrong page!
Cheers.

JoeTheRedLFC2

{Ed001's Note - he was one of my favourite ever players, ed77 sent me a clip about him the other day which brought the memories flooding back. I remember him at Fulham and he just stood out a mile as by far the best player on the pitch, it was astonishing to me he only went to Spurs rather than Madrid or Barca to be honest. He really was that good. I really have no idea why he never went to one of the best teams, it seems a waste of his career to not have the trophies his talent deserved.

I loved the way he glided across the ground but also he was strong as an ox and could protect the ball physically, as well as using skill. Maybe it was because he rarely scored thar he never quite took his career to the places it should have gone?}

1.) 20 Jun 2025 10:45:11
Interesting one Ed, that's for sure. Maybe he didn't have the elite mentality or hunger needed?
But boy oh boy what a player. Like you said, how he would glide across the pitch. A real physical specimen. Beautiful player to watch.

2.) 20 Jun 2025 10:46:12
Those days, I hoped for him and Gary Medel in our midfield.

3.) 20 Jun 2025 10:51:23
Possibly the most press resistant midfielder I've ever seen.

4.) 20 Jun 2025 11:03:29
Gary Medel is a blast from the past. Loved him as a player. Dembele was a Rolls Royce of a player though but didn't he have injury issues as well? I didn't manage to look it up but I recall him missing a fair few games.

5.) 20 Jun 2025 11:26:20
I believe ED01 was a huge Gary Medel fan back then too. what year was that at all? . seems ages ago!

{Ed001's Note - I loved Medel, proper midfielder, massively underrated as he had the quality to play everywhere but most people just noticed his tackling.}

6.) 20 Jun 2025 11:47:46
I loved Dembele and would have taken him in a heartbeat. Also on a completely unrelated note to actual football, but he was a beast of FIFA back in the day when I played it.

7.) 20 Jun 2025 12:12:12
Ed1 - 20 odd years on this site and probably showing it with saying that I remember the time you were pushing for us to sign him. Great player he was in his prime.

{Ed001's Note - Dembele or Medel? I assume Dembele, no one is going to consider Medel (much as I loved him) a great player! I have to say, Gravy has shown some of the Dembele touches over the course of the season. He does have the gliding across the turf down pat and holding multiple players off before spinning out and leaving them out of the game too.}

8.) 20 Jun 2025 12:31:23
Ed1. Was actually talking about Medal. I remember you pushing for us to sign him all those years back.

On Dembele, I agree with everything you said about him. He was head and shoulders above anyone else at Spurs at the time. He had everything!

{Ed001's Note - ah ok I wasn't sure as I wanted us to sign both. Medel was just exactly what we were missing then. We have Endo now to do the same job now. I did love Medel though, he was a standout for Cardiff when he was in the Prem with them. Their one player who looked like he belonged in the top flight.}

9.) 20 Jun 2025 12:31:50
I adored Moussa Dembele. In his peak, he was phenomenal but it seemed Delle Alli was getting a lot of the hype as a midfielder at the time cos he scored a lot of goals.

But Dembele? What a player, my goodness.

10.) 20 Jun 2025 12:50:49
What a player he was. He was able to skip past a player from standing and was impossible to get the ball off.

Honestly can't remember how his career wound up. I think he went to China when that was a thing.

Silly to say this as he hasn't reached the heights, but I always felt Curtis Jones had very similar attributes to Dembele. Similar body type and ability to hold off opposition and break the press. Perhaps not the raw power that Dembele had though. And definitely not the consistency!

11.) 20 Jun 2025 13:03:51
Oh man, a blast from the past. Dembele a class player and Medel, one of the hungriest for the ball.

As a Chilean, I was desperate for us to get "El Pitbull" (Medel) back then. He was exactly what we needed at the time. I remember him destroying Messi a number of times while at Sevilla and when playing for the national team. He always man-marked him and gave him a hard time.

Was so disappointed LFC didn't take much of a look at him. Also when Sanchez picked Arsenal. I desperately wanted a Chilean at LFC. Mark Gonzalez didn't really have much of a career at LFC but I feel Medel or Sanchez would've gone on to become really important players for the club history, they were difference makers.

12.) 20 Jun 2025 13:43:18
Ed1, did we ever show interest in either of them? both absolute quality who would've improved any team.

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of, no.}

13.) 20 Jun 2025 14:49:40
Loved Medel too. Saw him later in his career when he played DM for Bologna. told my kids (american)! that is the REAL pitbull.

14.) 20 Jun 2025 14:55:54
@Gregarious, there is a reason why we never signed him. Ed01 had been been screaming on here till our ears went neard broken for us to sign Medel and we didn't. Why? Cos Ed01 is cursed.

Cos whenever Ed01 wants us to sign a player, we never do at least 90% of the time. That's why we did not get Medel, a guy who ended up playing for Cardiff in the PL in 13/ 14. Go figure.

15.) 20 Jun 2025 15:10:53
DON'T say Medel, Gregarious - he was Ed001's crush for a few years!

In the minority here,
But hear me out!
I actually, ridiculously, really don’t want us to sign Isak. Especially for so much money, I mean I don’t really care it’s not mine.
But as our main man. He will need to play damn close to 50 games a season or more, something I don’t know if he’s capable of. He Dosent do too much defensive work. He’s wrapped in cotton wool essentially at Newcastle.
Mo is already not doing allot of work tracking back etc. we cannot bring in another player in the forward line who Dosent cover enough ground. I worry about his niggling injuries also, which will only get worse.
I don’t know,
I’m concerned about this deal if it is to go through.
He is world class. He will be close to 30 goals in this team. Maybe we don’t even need him fit 100% of the time lol. He is that good.

What are other peoples opinions?

JoeTheRedLFC2

1.) 18 Jun 2025 09:06:01
@Joe, your concerns are valid, IMO. Isak has missed 39 games in 3 years (according to a stat I've seen someone post on here) and that is a big concern for the money we will be paying for him should we sign him. Anyone just swatting that away is not being honest at all.

However as usual, there is always a risk with signing anyone let alone a player like Isak for the money we would pay so it will have to come down to how we do our due diligence a, d homework and then weigh the pros and cons. It's all we can do as that is all we can control. At that point, a decision will be made. Just my take.

2.) 18 Jun 2025 09:13:12
im with you. Fabulous player who would fit in well and a player and person with our group. But his injury records is the worry. Can he play 50+ games a season.
If my memory serves me right one of the reasons for appointing slot was his record on player injuries which reportedly was lower or better protecting them from being injured.

3.) 18 Jun 2025 09:13:12
Agree with this ???.

4.) 18 Jun 2025 09:27:29
I clearly remember how things went with Sturridge and how we (the fans) practically hounded him out of the club. We're doing the same thing now with Jota.

I have no way of knowing if that's how it will be if Isak does join and his fitness record does not improve. But it's a hell of a lot of money for something to not work out (see Nunez) .

5.) 18 Jun 2025 09:29:30
How is he wrapped in cotton wool?
He started 20, 30 and 34 games in his three seasons at Newcastle.
I think he was rested before the League Cup final, too, and that seemed to pay off.
I wouldn't be too worried if he is going to score nearly 30 goals a season.
But I still don't see it happening.

6.) 18 Jun 2025 09:31:38
He is world class and will score close to 30 goals in this team.
You have just answered your own question.

7.) 18 Jun 2025 09:39:00
If I'm being honest with myself, I too have this very concern. We'll have to see what happens if he joins, does our medical team have a plan?

Or is this all just a smokescreen for Zlatan to come out of retirement for a final swnasong? Both Swedish strikers?

(I'm joking, btw! )

8.) 18 Jun 2025 09:47:57
I would rather have Alvarez or Martinez to be honest. The former is a machine who has missed one game in three seasons and both work their asses off for the team. But if Isak continues with his goal scoring feats and stays uninjured, he’s better than both.

9.) 18 Jun 2025 10:03:44
Very valid. Leave alone fitness, all the pressing and dirty work is done by others at Newcastle.

Hence it is a high risk option to have both Isak and Salah in the same 11.

Hence we need a player who brings others into play and intelligent when we don't have the ball.

10.) 18 Jun 2025 10:28:37
Does he have to play 50+ games a season though? Surely we have enough quality in our squad to rest him when necessary. Also, as we have seen this season; with playing style, coaching/ training and recovery methods, we have reduced muscular injuries significantly across the squad.

Newcastle's approach is much more back to front quickly, counter-attacking football that will result in much more sprints. He wouldn't necessarily have to do that repetitively for us through a 90 minute period. I do also think that Isak does more off the ball work than people give him credit for, its just that he presses high up the pitch. I don't think we necessarily need him chasing back all the time.

Hopefully, past injury concerns are better managed and we get a healthy 30 goal a season striker.

Cheers.

11.) 18 Jun 2025 10:30:58
I think I am a bit old school, and haven't really seen us be so aggressive in transfer window, or whatever, but this doesn't sit right with me for some reason. Getting Wirtz and Isak in the same window would be just filthy. Maybe I am just too used to being an underdog.

12.) 18 Jun 2025 10:17:30
Gaga, I disagree. The stats about his injury record is what they are (if true) . You can't just ignore all that and just focus on the 30 goals he may score. Or may not even score cos nothing is guaranteed, btw.

For ex. if Isak was still at Sociedad, Dortmund or wherever and had missed 39 game missed in 3 years? Would you just ignore that? Cos I know I wouldn't and with Jota's and Studge's injury record with us to point to as evidence, I wouldn't touch him regardless of how many goals he has scored.

The best we can do here is do our homework, weigh the pros. and the cons. and then if we are sure with certain safeguards in place medically/ training wise etc. then, we go for it even tho like @Rigsby, I don't see that happening. We have to be very careful here. That's my only point.

13.) 18 Jun 2025 10:34:01
Sami Kewell you've just described Wirtz haven't you?
If anyone can manage Isaks minutes surely it's us? With the amount of forwards we have. Perhaps he will score enough goals that we will be put of sight by 70 minutes and he can come off. Jacob Murphy provided 8 assists for Isak last season. Salah and Wirtz must fancy their chances of beating that?
He may get some injuries but he definitely puts the ball in the onion bag and that is in quite a workmanlike team that don't create as many chances as we do. It's not my money so I don't care. Fsg don't seem the Peter Ridsdale type to over extend themselves so if it can be done we should do it.

14.) 18 Jun 2025 10:35:15
Yep he's a unbelievable player but the money being talked about is too much imo. Might prefer taking a chance on Stassin and then going all in for Isak or another striker next summer.

15.) 18 Jun 2025 10:58:22
Rigsby
At Liverpool you could be playing easily north of 50 games tho. If we are forking out what is suggested it is reasonable enough to hope he would be available for the good majority of the games. He is a very good player.

16.) 18 Jun 2025 10:59:40
Wow, we're being linked to the best striker on the planet (yes, he's better than Mbappe and Haaland) and we are panicking about the price?

17.) 18 Jun 2025 12:57:13
FlyPelicanFly, I ain't panicking about the price cos you are only worth what someone is ready to pay for your services in football and in all walks of life. My thing is his injury record. Apart from that, I got no issues with Isak.

18.) 18 Jun 2025 13:36:22
Olired
I get your point, but the previous poster did believe that Isak would possibly score 30 goals in a Liverpool team. For me I would take that regardless. Yes he may not play every game but that is down to the team behind Slot to manage. We should have a squad that can cover games he misses whether that be through injury or resting. I now you cannot guarantee the goals output but 30 goals from Isak and 30 from Mo then a sprinkling of goals from other players.

19.) 18 Jun 2025 14:11:24
Irish, you're right. I would hope he was available for every game.
But if he missed 39 games over three seasons, it doesn't follow that he misses 39 games every 3 seasons.
It doesn't necessarily mean he misses 13 games a season, either.

Tbh, I don't know what his injury record or what it will be like but stats can be misleading and people can worry over things that they know little about.
I don't even think we'll sign him.

20.) 18 Jun 2025 19:06:12
I agree OP. If he comes I'll be elated obviously, but we will still need a good cover player up front. Does that mean Jota staying or Diaz covering LW and ST?
Given the option of Isak now or Alvarez next year I'd probably take the latter. All this said, I do think he could do well for us.

I’d imagine just logically thinking. The plan will prob be to sell Nunez and bring in a ST, and also replace Quansah. Then later in the window, perhaps some opportunistic business. Replacing anyone who may leave e. g Diaz, Konate etc.

So much conflicting reports wirh this one. It’s interesting. I imagine we we’ll sell him to fund business, but would probably rather we keep him due to proven quality, experience and knowing the system.
More importantly, he can play upfront.
All the noise recently is that he stays and Liverpool are not selling.

WhyOwhy, well it’s your opinion that he’s not good.
I think he’s very good.

Mk is right it makes the most sense. Financially also.
Bring a young striker into. So when Martinez is old and useless at 32 lol, the young lad is ready to step in.
Danns? Or stassin as Ed keeps mentioning.

Simple.

I said on here a few weeks ago I was probably the only one who didn’t want us to sign Isak, at the price mentioned. I’d definitely take him over Etikite though. Young lad is still so unproven and raw: big pressure coming to LFC too. I’d take him for about 45mil .

The more I think about Isak and potential niggling injury issues, probably only getting worse as he gets older, the more I think F**k it. Spend the money, it’s not mine who cares! And you’re going to get a guy who will guarantee 30 goals a season in this team, at least. Even if he did miss a few games and have to be managed carefully. Maybe he’s that good that it’s worth it, and the 40 games a season or so that he plays, he’s the difference maker for us.

Zézé and Ait Boudlal replacing Quansah would be ideal! But if Konate leaves we need a top CB.

Defo MK. But what’s your midfield 3 then.
Macca or Grav or undroppable given their influence and balance they give the team.

I think both go and Hato comes in with either beck or chambers promoted. Hato kills 2 birds with one stone really. Covers VVD and lb while the young Moroccan kid replaces Quansah.
