Thuram, lavia and schurrs in.
Out are philips, kelleher, quansah. all loans.
1.) 30 Jul 2023 21:11:10
Wow do we get them on loan? ?.
2.) 30 Jul 2023 22:05:33
What’s the benefit of loaning Kelleher?
Based on Klopp comments previously on this, I would say it’s unlikely.
3.) 30 Jul 2023 22:16:48
We are so light and lacking in quality still in terms of squad depth. Really poor management in recent years. Now losing two key midfielders and not having replacement lined up is poor as well.
4.) 30 Jul 2023 22:46:51
Mbappe is loan.
5.) 30 Jul 2023 23:04:50
We already moved on from Schuurs.
6.) 31 Jul 2023 03:59:00
Alison, Kelleher, Adrian
TAA, Bradley, Konate, Matip, VVD, Gomez, Robbo, Tsimi
Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Thiago, Elliot, Jones, Bajcetic
Diaz, Jota, Nunez, Gakpo, Salah
Plus any number of youngsters, Doak, Clark, Quansah, Frauendorf, etc.
We are mostly not lacking in depth of quality. We want 2 mids and a defender and then, perhaps apart from City, you’d be hard pushed to find a better squad.
7.) 31 Jul 2023 05:06:54
How do you know we don’t have a replacement lined up? You are just guessing, some people just love a whinge!
8.) 31 Jul 2023 06:35:44
I'd be very worried if we loaned out kelleher due to Adrian being terrible.
9.) 31 Jul 2023 06:45:42
Bradley and Bajcetic are already youngsters in your 18 man squad. How many are you suggesting we use to beef out the squad? And one of your 18 can’t stay fit?.
10.) 31 Jul 2023 07:20:14
For me matip going makes most sense and replacing him with the highly coveted lab we are desperate for
Apart from that
Definitely need the dm ( looks like lavia but he’s not a destroyer type dm like fab was he’s more of an all action high energy high press ball carrier .
I’d like someone else in aswell for the midfield as it’s a big burden on young shoulders for whoever we sign at dm . I did start wondering about thuram again as he can play anywhere across the midfield
The gaps in the squad are clear I’m sure they get filled before the window shuts.
11.) 31 Jul 2023 07:48:34
I personally don't think we'll be signing another midfielder and probably not a CB this window (assuming Lavia still goes through) .
I think klopp's using this season to develop our internal youth, using the Europa as a testbed.
I'm actually pretty excited about that, Klopp is a world class coach so if anyone is helping young talent reach their potential it's Klopp.
12.) 31 Jul 2023 08:25:18
Their is going to be a potentially 60 game season ahead of us I think more senior players are needed still young and with potential but having already played the game other than youth level for a few seasons .
13.) 31 Jul 2023 08:28:47
I reckon we'll still end up with Schuurs personally Oli. Lavia hopefully gets sorted this week and then i think it'll be a midfielder we wasn't expecting.
14.) 31 Jul 2023 08:40:52
It’s seems the transfer war chest is empty Lavia will hopefully arrive with the fab money then if we shift Phillips and matip we may strengthen the defence but it will be a late one if we do. The Left sided defender is a must for me but if VVD is made captain then JK sees him as starter for most games which is concerning.
15.) 31 Jul 2023 08:47:20
Ah c'mon now, Virg mmay not have been at his brilliant best last season but to be concerned about him start is a bit much. It will help to have an actual midfield ahead of him this season and also the captaincy will help focus him.
16.) 31 Jul 2023 08:54:41
Relax. Big Jorg is working on it and there’s still a whole month of the window left.
I’m expecting us to conclude Lavia this week and then focus on one more mid and at least one defender, if not two. Every club remains active in the market.
17.) 31 Jul 2023 08:56:01
Virg needs to bring some intensity this season and not think he will be able to stroll around like previous seasons . I’d love to see him bring that aggression side to his game but he just seems like he’s not bothered at times and doesn’t want to sweat or get dirty while playing.
18.) 31 Jul 2023 09:13:25
@TIR, IF we sign a decent DM I don’t think either Bradley or Bajcetic will be in the starting 11. I also think it would be a shame as they both have great potential - if you are good enough you are old enough.
How do you rate Baj as injury prone? He has had one injury and the club are rightly being prudent (as with Gordon) in making sure he is fully fit before being considered for first team game time.
19.) 31 Jul 2023 09:51:49
@TIR, there are 22 people in the squad that I put forward.
20.) 31 Jul 2023 09:54:03
As FPF says, there is a whole month of the transfer window left. I expect Lavia to join this week and that will be it before the opener against Chelsea.
That doesn't mean that Jorg won't be working on an LCB and another CM to supplement the squad at some point before the window shuts. These signings won't need the preseason (although it is always nice to have) as they won't be expected to be in the starting lineup immediately. They will be backup/ future/ squad players and will get their chance to shine in the UEL.
21.) 31 Jul 2023 09:57:14
Thiago is injury prone WDW, not Baj. I think our squad is light in my opinion, I’m not just looking at a starting eleven as such, everyone will be called upon
Appreciate City play with a lesser squad of 22/ 23 players but their quality is far stronger than we have at present and after all it’s City we are trying to beat if we are honest ?.
22.) 31 Jul 2023 13:10:25
For some on here we may as well scrub the youth set up if they are not to be given a chance
Remember the midfield depth is as it is cos the manager didn't want to buy last summer. the funds were there. I'd expect a couple of more signings and hope some of the young players get a chance to cover.
23.) 31 Jul 2023 19:28:54
@TIR, apologies I thought you meant Baj was injury prone, my mistake. That said I’m not sure Thiago is a starter either next season, especially if the second midfielder we buy is a CM.
24.) 31 Jul 2023 20:48:08
@redwork I'm pretty sure the manager did want tchouameni last season and we were close to signing him until Madrid made their move. The same manager who used to get a pat on the back from fans for waiting for the man he wanted now after one poor season it seems allot of our fans just want bums on seats to make the FIFA 24 squad look tastier.

Random query or question but just wondering if any of the eds have ever met any of the current or recent players and had a chat with them. Are they decent sound guys or a bit egotistical and knob headed . They all seem to come across like really good guys on interviews anyway. Also any past players you have met and didn't find any redeeming qualities about them. Thanks eds.
{Ed001's Note - I have met a couple of them. All seem nice guys, a far cry from some of the tits we used to have play for us.}
1.) 06 Jun 2025 22:06:47
Dom is the nicest guy you'll meet. Robbo a close second. Allison is a gent, don't believe the hype you see on social media around virg. Salah keeps himself to himself and does what he has to for the cameras.
Elliot, Jones, the greek Scouser and kelleher were the friendliest I found.
2.) 06 Jun 2025 22:27:35
I did a meet and greet at Melwood in 2018 just after Virg had signed and we’d just beaten City in the league 4-3.
Virgil is a really nice guy although you got the sense he was just doing what he had to. Pleasant enough though. Klopp was funny and exactly as you’d expect him to be. Salah was very quiet.
The nicest players to me were Sadio Mane and the Ox. Ox was chatting away to everyone and Klopp had to call him over to start training!
I’ve met Bruce Grobelaar a few times and thought he was an absolute tw@t.
{Ed078's Note - I went out with a girl who babysat for the Dalgleish family. They came home early one night and found me on their couch looking a bit disheveled. Kenny said "who the f* are you" Nobody, I said. "you got that right son". Gold
3.) 06 Jun 2025 22:32:48
I met Kelleher briefly after his appearance on the Toy Show (Irish fans will only understand) incredibly friendly and nice guy.
4.) 06 Jun 2025 23:11:27
Yes love the Christmas Toy Show.
5.) 06 Jun 2025 23:33:35
Who do you think the worst of them all Ed? Diouf, Bellamy?
6.) 06 Jun 2025 23:33:35
Who do you think the worst of them all Ed? Diouf, Bellamy?
{Ed001's Note - I never met Diouf, thankfully. Bellamy was a nice lad, he just got a bit gobby on the drink. Worst was Ruddock. Horrible, slimy man.}
7.) 07 Jun 2025 00:15:05
Gakpo seems really sound too, the club just released a video of him surprising fans at their home. Their dad unfortunately had a fatal heart attack at Anfield quite a few years ago and the eldest son had to take care of the family when he was 13. The two younger brothers come home from school, and there's this Liverpool player waiting for them in the kitchen, it was so amazing.
8.) 07 Jun 2025 00:41:13
Loved him as a player and probably got him twice at a bad time but thought Gerrard was bit ignorant. Say never meet your heroes lol.
9.) 07 Jun 2025 01:07:33
I met a few of them when they were on tour a few seasons ago and thought the whole bunch of them were great. Never pulled a face even when there were so many fans waiting for their autograph. And of course, Klopp was in the middle of it all and always had a big grin on his face. That left a very good impression on me.
10.) 07 Jun 2025 08:41:59
Ruddock will do anything to get some exposure (ooh err) but he comes across a proper ??.
11.) 07 Jun 2025 11:54:18
Saw the players mount the bus to play Union St Gille last season in the ELin Brussels and I shouted out to Curtis and Konate. Both were nice enuff to acknowledge me and throw up peace signs.
01 Jun 2025 16:21:27
Now that heitinga is the ajax no 1, could he loan a few of our fringe players for the season, rather than us selling outright. Thinking that Elliott, danns and o connell could really benefit from a good full season in the tough, physically and tactical, Dutch league . I'd hate to see them sold outright straight away. Something similar seemed to have benefited doak and baj ( in Las palmas anyway) . They really seemed to play better against seasoned pros week in week out and have become better for it.
1.) 01 Jun 2025 16:48:49
He'll do what's best for Ajax.
I hope ?.
25 Apr 2025 12:12:41
Really looking forward to winning the league on Sunday in front of our own fans. Anfield, the flags, the songs and the atmosphere will be electric. Then seeing the yellow caption flash up on ssn with the words liverpool are premier league champions. Oh the pride. I've read here many replies to the question that klopp wouldn't have won the league with this team this season. I'm not so sure. I think he would have tbh but obviously we'll never know. But my question is does anyone think this liverpool team would win this seasons league if pep, arteta, emery, howe or iraola were the manager? What is it about Slot that got this team to win and be so good this season? I mean this in a positive way. I think Slot turned grav, mac, gapko mo and konate into much better players than they were. Was it that he simplified things? Tactics? Pace in right areas and not gunho all over the pitch ala klopp? Formation? All of the above? Looking forward to replies and I hope everyone really enjoys Sunday afternoon too.
1.) 25 Apr 2025 12:43:06
A huge factor has been the game management of the team this season. It’s not always as exciting as Klopp’s football but it has been very effective.
We noticeable slow down when we get in front and speed up if we need a goal. It’s meant the team is not constantly at a high intensity which has allowed them to recover quicker.
In turn that has meant that he can pick pretty much the same players each game without them completely burning out or getting loads of injuries.
2.) 25 Apr 2025 12:53:38
We’re 8 points better off than at this stage last season.
Arsenal are 7 points worse off and City 15 points worse off.
At this stage last season with our current points Talley we’d still be top by 3.
Fair play to Slot.
3.) 25 Apr 2025 13:34:00
I think the 2 biggest reasons we've have won the league are
No.1 slot
No.2 city drop off
We cannot underestimate the performance of slot to come in from a different country, after a legend, spend nothing and win league by quite probably double figures points wise. Came in, didn't tear down the place to put his stamp on it, no ego, Firm when he has to be and improved a lot of players that already here.
Ed2 best ever call was slot imo.
City drop off also massively helped, u just know if we going into last third of season neck+neck they wouldn't give u an inch, how we would've coped with city in a title race this season we will never know.
4.) 25 Apr 2025 14:19:29
Agreed digger. I remember when Ed2 first dropped Slots name and I'd never even heard of the man.
5.) 25 Apr 2025 16:30:55
Me neither, Salah. I just wondered, "what is he talking about"? But Ed002 knew his stuff so I believed him, but it wasn't because I knew who the heck Slot was because I didn't know jack about him! So, to see him come this far and about to win the league, it's just unbelievable. Not perfect, but my goodness he's going to improve and get more players he prefers and it bodes well for the future.
Just a bit sad that Ed002 is not here to receive the acknowledgment he deserves. I miss the legend!
6.) 25 Apr 2025 16:31:32
Spurs won't be a push over guys they have their better players back from injury. So let's not count our chickens just yet guys. I hope we can do it Sunday and the fans are at their very best with flags and singing . I am sure Arne will have the lads wound up for the game YNWA.
7.) 25 Apr 2025 17:27:33
All I remember was Olired bigging up Amorim as the main man after he told us Alonso was the main man.
I just assumed with all the football he seems to watch he must know his stuff so I was disappointed with us getting Slot. How wrong was I.
8.) 25 Apr 2025 17:05:13
I have to be honest and say that this is a team assembled by Klopp . A team that sat top of the League last season until very late. A tinkering with style and formation is all that’s been done and Slot has done an amazing job at doing so.
I do hope that he hasn’t peaked already tho. The team is going to need a bit of surgery over the next 2 seasons, hopefully Arne can still keep us at the very top of the heap but I wouldn’t be lying if I didn’t say that I have my reservations but that’s for the future and not for now.
We are champions an that needs to be celebrated properly. Everything else can wait.
9.) 25 Apr 2025 17:35:45
I’d agree with that iwillbered it’s not an easy game and we have been showing signs of nerves in recent games.
We will definitely get it over the line eventually but we shouldn’t just expect it to be Sunday. The fact that Spurs have a Mickey Mouse cup semi final next week might go in our favour though.
{Ed025's Note - it will be a very easy game RLL, a mullering of the most extreme case mate just study the evidence...you are a very good team and they are really crap...there you go..
10.) 25 Apr 2025 18:54:06
@Iwillbered - our latest ‘biggest test so far’ eh? ?.
I don’t think anybody is saying it’s an easy game but, as ever, play to our full potential and we’ll win.
{Ed025's Note - I’m saying it’s an easy game..
11.) 25 Apr 2025 19:32:52
The media saying it’s a forgone conclusion should be enough motivation for spurs. factor in richarlson he always shows up against us. 1 of my blue mates reckons he will get a hatrick.
12.) 25 Apr 2025 19:47:05
Jota hasn’t played on the left and Diaz has 5 goals and assists in our last 6 league games.
13.) 25 Apr 2025 23:27:05
JK, I assume you have a good reason for going after Oli. Can I ask what it is please?
14.) 26 Apr 2025 08:15:31
Footyfan it’s on a need to know basis.
17 Apr 2025 11:19:08
Great news Virgil. Yeahhhh. Come on trent. Sign up too and become a Liverpool legend.
{Ed078's Note - you really think Trent is likely to stay?
1.) 17 Apr 2025 11:47:52
Think the parade with the fans in his home city will be the deciding factor if I’m honest. Could imagine frimpong and Kerkez flying down both bings next season.
2.) 17 Apr 2025 12:14:16
I say imagine Bradley and Kerkez flying down our bings next season.
Trent's future is sorted, good luck to him.
3.) 17 Apr 2025 15:03:04
Bradley is the future but next season is probably coming one year too early for him. Still major concerns over his fitness so it will be a very interesting transfer window, do we go for a RB starter or do we get someone younger who can deputise for Bradley but won’t be expecting a starting position week in week out?
For me I think Frimpong is an ideal signing as he covers that entire right side, can cover Bradley when needed but doesn’t completely block his progression, more than able to cover Salah or right side of midfield where he plays frequently! With a release clause of 30 odd million he answers a lot of questions and gives what Slot loves, versatility…now if only he could defend.
4.) 17 Apr 2025 15:58:11
I would have thought we’d look for a free transfer utility option that can play right back and other positions, with Connor as first choice.
The experiments with Quansah and Jones haven’t really worked, Jo Gomez has been better there when fit so could do a job depending on his injury status.
5.) 17 Apr 2025 16:33:39
Why not Bradley frimpong and kerkez flying down our Bings?
6.) 17 Apr 2025 11:49:01
I don't think it's over tbh Ed078 there's a good chance he stays. the only way I can think that Madrid or Trent haven't announced it is Trent's said nothing to be released until Liverpool win the league. but I don't know why I think he stays.
{Ed078's Note - fingers crossed then.
26 Mar 2025 17:34:54
Win the league, rebuild and move forward. A new dynasty under slot awaits. But first and foremost, win the league. Players leave, players join and create a new legacy. The club always moves forward. Win the league and rebuild.
1.) 26 Mar 2025 23:23:14
I’m genuinely really looking forward to see what happens over the transfer window and how we go next season. I think it might even be a case of us getting better next season if Slot gets the players he wants (or at least some of them) and starts to make the squad his own. I get the feeling that he knows who he doesn’t want and, as I say, I’m genuinely interested in who he would like to see brought in.
31 Dec 2024 17:39:50
Click bait. Don't believe these baseless have rumours.
29 Dec 2024 20:33:47
He is the donkiest of honkies. Complete waste of space. I live in lyon and watch lots of ligue 1. That guy has lived down to all expectations. No finishing touch, no positional awareness and no ambition. even in ligue 1, he is absolutely terrible. His miss cost france the wc don't forget . He's as bad as barcola. Both at psg and both stinking attitude, party boys, waste of little talent . Mouani best avoided like covid.
15 Aug 2024 23:16:46
Gonna be Roald Dahl at this rate.
11 Jun 2024 23:05:55
I am an O. L. fan as I live in the city of Lyon. He was OK for O. L. this season, but the team was shocking in all fairness. Lovren still plays for us . That says it all. Jake is OK in French league 1, as many of his mistakes don't go unpunished as they would in premiership. His positional sense, aerial duals and tackling are very suspect to say the least. Physical player who always gets done for pace and always error prone. Ball watcher and poor concentration levels. His true level is league 1 mid table team or English championship mid table at best. Extremely limited in every department. Loaned by palace as the owner also owns O. L. too I believe. Definitely not lfc standard by any means. Apologies for being too negative and critical about him. Just my opinion of course, but I've seen plenty of his games last season.
05 Jul 2023 17:19:47
Hopefully it's Ruud Guillit. An amazing player. World class who will just bring us back to title contenders again. or Rijkaard. the Dutch Souness!
{Ed025's Note - cant even look at Rijkaard KK, that golly in vollers face was disgusting, as bad as the other sum bag Carragher..
06 Jun 2025 11:15:13
You are absolutely spot on there ed001. Hit the nail right on the head about cherki. I live in lyon and often go to watch ol play. He's the french jack grealish. Fancy dan who looks great on motd but little work ethic and rarely tracks back and works for the team. Wirtz all day long over cherki.
02 Jun 2025 20:14:46
Souness turned down chance to sign Cantona, we could of signed silva, aguero, Batistuta, Sheringham, anelka, cr7, simao, vidic, but instead we got dross like diouff, Joe Cole, kromkamp, ngog, baloteli and markovic et al. oh how many leagues and champion leagues we could have won. if only eh.
07 May 2025 17:40:53
Ligetimate question but possibly more for the arsenal page. I asked the same question about us, our team and if klopp was still in charge. So, would we have won the league so easily in the end if arsenal had the very same players they have now but with wenger as their manager?
23 Apr 2025 22:19:27
Absolutely. Credit to Palace though. Played very well and deserved the draw. Thought they might have got an injury time winner too. We can at least win the league at Anfield in front of 60 thousand jubilant fans. Hopefully spurs won't be fully focused as they have a semi final few days later. A nice win and lifting the league trophy in front of our fans will be so special and proud. Last time winning the league in an empty Anfield was amazing to watch. But this Sunday with 60 thousand fans will be very emotional indeed. Liverpool fc league champions. how great does that sound. The winners flag flying over Anfield again. Oh yes!
17 Mar 2025 10:02:12
I agree with you Barry. It's all about winning the league. Since when is a measure of our success based on winning the carabao cup or not. Come on. We judge ourselves on winning the league. We just have to win it. The boys should be angry focused on winning it now. The break has come at a great time to reset and go again. Nine finals starting with everton, whom we owe one. All tough games left but we control everything to win the league. Now, that's success.
