I know ED002 has confirmed Liverpool interest in Gonçalo Inacio. He has also explained Sporting not wanting to deal with Liverpool, for illegal approaches for Ugarte. There are rumours flying about that Inacio has a £38m release clause. Which doesn't sound too bad a fee with some of the other centre back options alleged prices. My main question for ED002 if he doesn't mind is if Liverpool were to look at triggering the release clause is it one that Sporting could block? I full appreciate it wouldn't be a good way to conduct business after already upsetting Sporting.

{Ed002's Note - Why would Sporting be open to dealing with Liverpool?}

1.) 11 Jun 2023 22:45:31
Could a club do that? Refuse to deal with another club who are offering to pay the release clause? Like when Neymar left Barcelona - Barcelona were saying they wanted him to stay, was that a lie? They could have just refused? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - In the gutter and looking down.}

2.) 11 Jun 2023 22:49:44
Money talks.

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United will look to negotiate.}

3.) 11 Jun 2023 23:14:32
Arsenal offered a reported release clause to Liverpool for Suarez and Liverpool refused to do a deal with them.
So I guess you can refuse to deal with a club.

4.) 11 Jun 2023 23:40:26
Sorry ed002, but you didn’t actually answer the OP’s question. Obviously it’s your prerogative if you don’t want to answer, but personally I’d be very interesting in your opinion.

{Ed002's Note - I have dealt with this.}

5.) 12 Jun 2023 02:33:53
Ed2 said they won't deal with us a few times in the past. To me that means they won't deal at all, not even if we trigger release clauses etc. No need to keep trying to find a way around it, there isn't one from what I'm hearing from Ed2.

6.) 12 Jun 2023 04:36:23
@Gregarious, what do you think Sporting would say if, say, we offered £ 125m?

7.) 12 Jun 2023 07:02:22
Pretty sure the point is, that if Liverpool choose to trigger said release clause, then sporting see no other option than to act on the tapping up. Money talks but I’m sure a transfer embargo isn’t worth it.

8.) 12 Jun 2023 07:53:09
Wasn’t it the same with Van Dijk? We paid over the odds for him? Like I say, if the club 2ant him then they would have to pay over the odds.

9.) 12 Jun 2023 08:01:11
There are options ahead of Inacio being considered for this summer by Liverpool along with two more midfield targets.

10.) 12 Jun 2023 08:08:37
There's this thing called an apology. Whether you want Inacio or not, there's no value in letting an issue fester with a club like Sporting.

11.) 12 Jun 2023 20:09:34
@FPF, I’d certainly agree with that. If we do actually want the fella, a big box of chocolates with a card saying “we’re sorry” wouldn’t go amiss as a starting point.

12.) 13 Jun 2023 15:30:52
West Derby, pay over? Can't get them to pay the going rate never mind pay over the odds,

The decision to play Jota in the meaningless game vs Midtjylland and lose him to injury has backfired massively on us. We could have really done with him the last few games.

Any ideas on why minamino hasn't had a look in since the palace game? It's not like the front 3 have been at it the last few games.

We were spoilt last season with the performances, mentality and results that Liverpool produced game after game. We haven't had the best of luck with injuries etc. But the last few performances have been below par the attitude and mentality from some of the players haven't been there. Trents defending for the Southampton goal today was really poor.

A lot can change quickly in football and I respect others will have different opinions on things. Hopefully the performances, speed of passing and intensity will improve in the next few games.

Agreed. We just need Edwards to pull off a loan to buy deal to sort outbour defense else these struggles will continue for many games this season. We are still top of only for a few days but it can't be all doom and gloom. Still unbeaten at home I've got too much faith in klopp to think he won't sort out our away form. Jota will be back soon so we will be able to switch it up in attack. Defense is the key. Fabinho can't play cb all season its ruining our midfield bossery.

{Ed0666's Note - if we don’t buy or loan a defender in January we are doomed.

2.) 05 Jan 2021 00:05:35
The Minamino one is a mystery to me, I thought he was decent against Palace but he hasn’t played since, it’s not like the regular front 3 are playing really well. If the front 3 aren’t doing it get him on, it’s strange.

{Ed0666's Note - there were rumours that he wasn’t integrating within the group because of his personality. He’s super shy and maybe a little introverted and maybe this has something to do with his current lack of playing time. I hope it’s not the case tho as he honestly seems like a nice guy. I truly hope it works out for him at Liverpool. Maybe he gets a run out in the next game.

3.) 05 Jan 2021 00:42:19
I’m surprised we haven’t seen a 4-2-3-1 more often against the bottom 6 sides or when we need a goal, with Minamino playing 9 or 10 to add the extra forward.

4.) 05 Jan 2021 00:46:05
I believe Ed0666 that Taki will shine through mate.

{Ed0666's Note - I hope so mate because I really feel that he could be of real value to the team if he got some rhythms.

5.) 05 Jan 2021 06:34:37
I just think the injuries at CH are killing us. The whole balance of the team is affected, we look disjointed, and everyone is suffering because of it.
We’ve done brilliantly to paper over the cracks, but it does look like we’ve hit a bit of a wall.
Hopefully cleverer people than me can get us back on track.

{Ed0666's Note - if the best CB in the world is absent as well as the other two senior CB’s and were playing our best midfielders in central defense we aren’t just gonna hit a wall we’re gonna keep ramming the wall week after week. FSG need to get us a CB even if they have to dip into their own coffers. I refuse to believe we can’t get a decent defender on loan from somewhere in the world in the next 3 weeks.

6.) 05 Jan 2021 07:27:33
Phil Jones is available.

7.) 05 Jan 2021 08:04:52
AJH couldn't we do a double deal for both Phil Jones and Marcos Rojo?

8.) 05 Jan 2021 07:26:39
Totally agree Ed
No team anywhere could cope with all 3 CH’s out - we’ve done well to be where we are.
I personally think we need 2 CH’s, as Matip can’t be relied on to stay fit, and it seems Jurgen doesn’t think Williams or Phillips are good enough at the moment - but 1 is an absolute necessity.

{Ed0666's Note - agree 100% with every word Tricky

9.) 05 Jan 2021 08:15:07
Its a joke Minamino isn't playing, Firmino is hindering us, Jota can't return soon enough.

{Ed0666's Note - minamino isn’t as good as Bobby on a bad day and that’s not rubbishing taki that’s referencing Bobby’s brilliance and caliber

It’s far too early to judge Endo. It took Fabinho a good half a season before he was getting regular starts for us and he didn’t look as good as he turned out to be in his first few games for us. Rodri at City who is definitely one of the top CDM’s in the world now, took time to adapt the speed of the premier league and wasn’t great in the early stages of his City career. In fairness our midfield is new, they have all recently joined the club and are getting used to how we play and playing with eachother. They’re no doubting the talent or Szobo and Macca. Ideally yes it would be nice to bring in another CDM/ CM and I hope we do but, I honestly think it’s too early to judge Endo. He has a very good reputation for the Japan national team and from his time in the Bundesliga. Give the lad a chance. Newcastle also have an excellent Midfield 3, they have a lot of physicality and ability they will give a tough game to every team in the league.

Apparently Fee agreed with Fulham for Fabio Carvalho. Medical underway and Neco and Carvalho to be loaned to Fulham until the end of the season.

Was an error from Klopp in hindsight. Keita offered no protection for Trent and was very sloppy in possession. The Madrid midfield have been far superior to ours in that first half and so have their full backs. A real sloppy first half and some really poor defensive errors. Really can’t complain Madrid have been the better team.

I think he meant the luiz and bednarek incidents. I doubt many would say that the first Southampton red wasn’t deserved it was an awful tackle.
