Please say the rumours about Ings aren't accurate. Out for the season with another knee injury? Awful for the player if true.

1.) 02 Nov 2016 10:58:06
It looks like it's true : ( sky sports have just confirmed.

2.) 02 Nov 2016 11:32:06
I feel bad for Ings.

3.) 02 Nov 2016 11:43:55
Wow, this lad just has no luck at all does he?

Such a huge shame, I was looking forward to his coming back into the team : (

4.) 02 Nov 2016 11:55:39
BBC confirmed too.

Life's just so rubbish sometimes.

Really feel for the lad.

5.) 02 Nov 2016 11:59:44
Gutted for him.

6.) 02 Nov 2016 13:29:26
Sickened for the poor lad, really hope he can make a full recover and play some part for the REDS in the future. Cannot fault him as he was giving 100% for the team and picks up a bad knock.

7.) 02 Nov 2016 14:16:28
not sure if its any good, but its not the same leg that Danny has had trouble with . I believe that he will come back once again .

8.) 02 Nov 2016 13:35:45
Gutted for him. I`m afraid Ed01`s fears came true after all. I remember him saying that he was worried about Ings` injury history when we signed him as he had incurred a bad knee injury in the past before signing for us. This is now his third horrific knee injury and I`m afraid he will go the route of Flanno, who may never be the same again due to his two bad knee injuries. I hope he makes a full recovery and plays football again. At LFC? Only time will tell.

9.) 02 Nov 2016 15:26:47
Feel for the lad, gutted for him.

10.) 02 Nov 2016 16:05:44
I always felt he was bit too eager to impress Klopp. When klopp first joined, Ings got that injury in first few training session. Professional players need to know when to hold back sometimes, klopp do appreciate enthusiasm but Klopp always point to index finger to his brains to tell his players to use brains while not lacking energy levels. Felt sorry for this lad.

11.) 02 Nov 2016 16:26:16
Leek, you're making yourself sound like a heartless d*ck. Stop with the pseudo hindsight.

12.) 02 Nov 2016 16:35:05
Lee, don't spout rubbish mate, you have no idea what has caused this or any other injury!

13.) 02 Nov 2016 16:47:34
Its like his 5th. This double blownhas happened before. Left knee then returned and right knee straight after.

14.) 02 Nov 2016 16:47:38
Zed and Puzzled, stop spouting your nonsense and twisting my words. I am just stating observation . not being mean. There's this over eagerness that may do more harm than good. It's a bit like Borini situation. Borini was so keen to stay in squad that when BR sub he into a game, he went bonkers and was one over enthusiastic in his challenges resulting in a red card. I do feel Ings has that Borini sort of bull headed eagerness.

15.) 02 Nov 2016 17:45:00
Leek you are spouting rubbish based on conjecture, then assuming your rubbish is fact you then go on to make statements about that 'fact'.

I'm not twisting your words, just pointing out that they are garbage.

However, you're right, I should stop. You have been told the same thing by eds and posters alike and still spit the same guff!

As Joey once said, even pigeons learn fast than you!

Hey ho, live and let live!

16.) 03 Nov 2016 00:08:09
This is incredibly sad news for Danny Ings I wish him a speedy recovery not only physically but mentally as this set back coming so soon after being fit again must be mentally so tough to take . Get well soon Danny.

17.) 03 Nov 2016 02:10:15
Lee, stop using that nick, tarnishing the name of one of the greatest leaders in history.

18.) 03 Nov 2016 05:19:00
Lee, so "Bullheaded eagerness" led to the injury? Well, at least you are predictably consistent. With utter nonsense, complete garbage and moronic idiocy. I admire your Bullheaded eagerness with it.

19.) 03 Nov 2016 08:14:50
Ings can only get better, I suppose.

20.) 03 Nov 2016 09:15:48
In poor taste, Damo, but did make me chuckle for a minute!

Does the Gini contract situation remind anyone a little bit of the Emre Can situation? Contract has been offered, JK wants the player to stay, but still nothing happening.

I'm guessing the situation has probably been pretty much resolved but don't want to announce anything for fear of backlash whilst Gini is still at the club.

I hope I'm wrong. I like Gini and this season he has been playing really well.

1.) 08 Jan 2021 19:05:52
There are similarities Macko.

However, I think the key differences in the negotiations are probably different given that Can was in his early-mid 20s whereas Gini is 30, so contract length has likely been the sticking point with Gini.

2.) 08 Jan 2021 20:13:50
Can was a fringe player, whereas Gini is a stalwart.

3.) 08 Jan 2021 21:46:01
And like Can Gini is replaceable.

4.) 08 Jan 2021 22:05:17
But given the reluctance to move Keita, Thiago coming in, Jones and Minamino coming in and all the others where they are; our midfield is pretty much at capacity. I think the decision has already been made for Wijnaldum to move on. Any minute now we should start seeing rumours of him agreeing a pre-contract with someone or another.

I don't quite get it. If Milner can play for us at 35, why can't Wijnaldum at a slightly lesser age (he's only 30)? Four straight seasons that he has been the midfielder with the most minutes played. I just think it's important to keep this group together for at least another year or two; as long as possible. And Wijnaldum has that winners attitude. He scored that goal tonight but he was actually scowling right after; at the affront of being held in check by under 23 kids.

5.) 08 Jan 2021 23:39:17
Gini was poor tonight I thought. Those type of games don’t suit him, zero creativity.

6.) 09 Jan 2021 03:50:45
I know this won't be popular but he can go for me, I really don't mind. I mean this in no disrespectful way to the lad of course but he's one player, any player can be replaced and I think it's gone on long enough the fans wondering what is happening with him. He needs to make up his mind and stop buggering about. I like him, he's a good player but I'd be more gutted if we were talking about Hendo, Fab or Thiago right now. I hope he can stay with us, I do, but I do not like how this has dragged on, not one bit. You either want to be with us or you don't, if he did, something would've been sorted before now. He's as good as gone imo.

20 Oct 2020 20:35:39
I was just thinking, to save some time in future, referees should get Man United's mandatory penalty kick out of the way in the warm up, before the game starts. That way we don't have to disruption the flow of the game when they are obviously awarded one during the game.

1.) 21 Oct 2020 00:01:55
Lol bitter. I watched a Merseyside derby at the weekend. Had the standard tasty challenges, a sending off, a late goal ruled out for offside using straight lines. Ends in a draw. Let's move on.

2.) 21 Oct 2020 05:46:10
To be fair it was a stone wall penalty that PSG gave away, it is funny the number of penalties they win but if there's a foul there is no grounds to whinge that they get fortunate gifts from the ref.

3.) 21 Oct 2020 11:01:56
Spot on, Har_red92. If a clear penalty happens, that is NOT a gift from the ref. It is should be awarded cos that is the law and what the other team deserves. Justice done.

4.) 21 Oct 2020 11:19:23
They just keep taking them until they score!

19 Oct 2020 20:14:44
Incredible call by the Premier League to have Coote refereeing the Leeds v Wolves game.

First of all, no punishment for an embarrassingly performance over the weekend. But more worryingly, if he makes a bad mistake tonight then he will be slaughtered tomorrow.

1.) 19 Oct 2020 20:24:26
OP now, they are just taking the mick.

2.) 20 Oct 2020 02:31:36
Well they decided there was no grounds for retrospective action against Pickford. So they clearly think he did the right thing.

3.) 20 Oct 2020 09:47:56
PickFord should sign for Burnley as a cb.

17 Sep 2020 20:12:34
Was just wondering what ed and posters reckon bout the Thiago signing and whether or not he is the most 'high profile' signing Liverpool of a) recent years or b) ever?

Most of the obvious candidates became high profile whilst at the club (Alonso, Coutinho, Suarez, Rush, Keegan etc) .

The only one off the top of my head is Morientes, even though he wasn't that successful a signing. Anyone have any other ideas?

1.) 17 Sep 2020 20:19:02
I'd say Torres by a clear distance. Couldn't believe it when he signed.

2.) 17 Sep 2020 20:26:43
Alison would have been higher profile as well I would think, he was being called the best goalie in the world when we signed him.

3.) 17 Sep 2020 20:39:17
Torres is a good shout, but he was still pretty young when we got him. And as he said in an interview only this week, he was at the height of his powers when up front for us

On a side not, I think I read that Torres had a documentary coming out on Netflix this weekend. Keep an eye out for it.

4.) 17 Sep 2020 20:40:25
We’ve never signed a player like this. To take a 29 year old Primed world class midfielder from the Champions of Europe and one of the biggest clubs in world football.
We’ve never done this it’s massive.

5.) 17 Sep 2020 20:48:49
Completely agree LFC8, hence the reason I asked the question.

6.) 17 Sep 2020 20:51:32
I disagree, guys. Torres and Allison were deemed to be very good players. Klopp said Allison was the finished article along with VVD when he signed them at LFC. Having said that, they were not any where near the status that Thiago currently is before they arrived at Liverpool.

I have thought this thru and in my 37 years of supporting this great club, Thiago is the only, established, recognized, widely-regarded world class player (one who is currently on top of his game) that I have seen arrive at LFC.

{Ed002's Note - Alison was not a Klopp choice - he wanted someone else. Maybe he said that for effect.}

7.) 17 Sep 2020 21:12:53
Tbh I always thought Fabinho looked World Class at Monaco I was over the moon when we bought him.

8.) 17 Sep 2020 21:15:06
Collymore was big back in the day but obviously flopped.

9.) 17 Sep 2020 21:24:10
Karl Heinz Riedle and Marcus Babbel are two but there's not been many. What a great signing this could be!

10.) 17 Sep 2020 21:29:10
I had this exact conversation today at work. It concluded with us both agreeing he is Liverpool's biggest transfer (in terms of pedigree) in the Premier League era. Going by achievements in the sport, reputation, hype, excitement, the size of club they were coming from etc.

The closest to it that i can think of is actually Joe Cole. I remember him coming to us with an immense reputation and pedigree but he just never got close to living up to expectation. Personally i think Thiago is a completely different level to Cole though. Cole was always a bit over rated and more of a beneficiary of a top team. Thiago makes top teams tick.

11.) 17 Sep 2020 21:33:36
Torres by a mile.

12.) 17 Sep 2020 21:52:32
I would say he probably has the highest standing of any player we have signed recently. Viewed as one of the best in his position in the world. Torres was a big name but his career was stagnating a little before he came to us, It probably felt a bigger signing than Thiago as we had a poorer squad at the time and were desperate for more quality. Thiago has just been added to an already world class team.

13.) 17 Sep 2020 21:56:34
King kenny was big, ok at Celtic, but a big money move for then.

14.) 17 Sep 2020 22:03:53

15.) 17 Sep 2020 22:29:12
For me it was Allison, literally the one keeper everyone wanted and we got him. Looking forward to seeing what Thiago can bring to the side.

{Ed0666's Note - I think a lot of people wanted Oblak also as Allison was relatively unknown to most. So glad we got Ali though mate.

16.) 17 Sep 2020 22:53:55
WarMachine, Litmanen had the pedigree, but Barcelona were prepared to let him go go on the cheap (Bosman possibly? ) because of his injuries had seen him fall out of favour. Thiago's a bit different in the sense that Bayern want to keep him.

17.) 17 Sep 2020 23:46:12
Harry Kewell in 2003. What an exciting signing at the time, beating the likes of Barca, Man U etc to his signature.

{Ed0666's Note - In hindsight I wish United would have beaten us to his signature 😂

18.) 18 Sep 2020 08:55:41
Yes, Ed02. I do remember now that Klopp wanted Oblak at first. Not bothered really. He did not want Salah either at first and see what happened.

19.) 18 Sep 2020 10:22:02
Agreed something red - and unfortunately he was injured with us also albeit I think he broke his arm or something whilst playing for Finland and that was pretty much his that. He was talked up as the next Dalglish when he arrived.

12 Sep 2020 20:23:21
I reckon that could be prove to be a massive win for this. Played poor defensively so will give those guys an early season kick in the arse.

I thought Sarah was excellent, turned his man inside out every single time. MOTM by a country mile.

For so long Bobby was my favourite player. I understand just how crucial he is to our attack. He's the best DLF in the game and creates so much space for others. But, I'm sorry to say, something has to give with him. He was so wasteful tonight, shooting and creating. I know its the first game of the season so rustiness is guaranteed, but this was also the case last season. I hope he finds his scoring boots soon, just doesn't look likely

A great 3 points to start off with. Fingers crossed its going to be another special season.

I saw a thread the other day where posters were discussing whether Liverpool would get in trouble with UEFA for putting out a weakened/ second string team. My thoughts were that the decision to rotate should be entirely up to the group winners. If they want to rotate then surely that is ok.

The team that the OP has listed is still very strong and could potentially win the game anyway. I would change it slightly and give Fabinho and Hendo a few days off. Play Billy at centre-back and put young Clarkson in the middle or one of the other younger lads. Either way, we have done brilliantly to finish top of the group, given all that has happened in the last couple of months. My opinion is that we should avail of the rewards that having achieved it with a game to spare has to offer.

Remember we were going to play Barca in the semi, without all the big guns??

All the replacements stepped up. Big Div scored 2, Shaq got a great assist aswell.

I know its not an ideal situation with all these key injuries but I'm quite looking forward to seeing how Klopp deals with it

Drogie, hope you don't think I'm getting on Bobby's case. far from it! Love Bobby and his attitude. I just thought he was a bit wasteful tonight, particularly in the opening 20 minutes.

We seem to have the same opinion about what the problem was in that second half. We couldn't keep hold of possession in the middle if the field, therefore no quality ball getting to the forwards. Lost count of the amount of times Matip and Gomez lumped (and lost) it forward. I thought Gini and Hendo, who bought played well, could have done with a little help.

I would have loved to have seen Salah have 20 good minutes on their left back. I reckon he would have destroyed him.

Sorry Drogie, but I think we lost our way long before Bobby went off. Again, it was the right call to bring him off as it just wasn't working for him.

I'm not going to question Klopp, he's forgotten more about tactics than I'd ever know. But my own opinion was that we were crying out for 4-3-3 for the last 15 mins, just so we could get some possession further up the field.

All in all, I'll take a point. Pointless international break coming up.
