Please say the rumours about Ings aren't accurate. Out for the season with another knee injury? Awful for the player if true.

Macko

1.) 02 Nov 2016 10:58:06
It looks like it's true : ( sky sports have just confirmed.

2.) 02 Nov 2016 11:32:06
I feel bad for Ings.

3.) 02 Nov 2016 11:43:55
Wow, this lad just has no luck at all does he?

Such a huge shame, I was looking forward to his coming back into the team : (

4.) 02 Nov 2016 11:55:39
BBC confirmed too.

Life's just so rubbish sometimes.

Really feel for the lad.

5.) 02 Nov 2016 11:59:44
Gutted for him.

6.) 02 Nov 2016 13:29:26
Sickened for the poor lad, really hope he can make a full recover and play some part for the REDS in the future. Cannot fault him as he was giving 100% for the team and picks up a bad knock.
GOOD LUCK DANNY!

7.) 02 Nov 2016 14:16:28
not sure if its any good, but its not the same leg that Danny has had trouble with . I believe that he will come back once again .

8.) 02 Nov 2016 13:35:45
Gutted for him. I`m afraid Ed01`s fears came true after all. I remember him saying that he was worried about Ings` injury history when we signed him as he had incurred a bad knee injury in the past before signing for us. This is now his third horrific knee injury and I`m afraid he will go the route of Flanno, who may never be the same again due to his two bad knee injuries. I hope he makes a full recovery and plays football again. At LFC? Only time will tell.

9.) 02 Nov 2016 15:26:47
Feel for the lad, gutted for him.

10.) 02 Nov 2016 16:05:44
I always felt he was bit too eager to impress Klopp. When klopp first joined, Ings got that injury in first few training session. Professional players need to know when to hold back sometimes, klopp do appreciate enthusiasm but Klopp always point to index finger to his brains to tell his players to use brains while not lacking energy levels. Felt sorry for this lad.

11.) 02 Nov 2016 16:26:16
Leek, you're making yourself sound like a heartless d*ck. Stop with the pseudo hindsight.

12.) 02 Nov 2016 16:35:05
Lee, don't spout rubbish mate, you have no idea what has caused this or any other injury!

13.) 02 Nov 2016 16:47:34
Its like his 5th. This double blownhas happened before. Left knee then returned and right knee straight after.

14.) 02 Nov 2016 16:47:38
Zed and Puzzled, stop spouting your nonsense and twisting my words. I am just stating observation . not being mean. There's this over eagerness that may do more harm than good. It's a bit like Borini situation. Borini was so keen to stay in squad that when BR sub he into a game, he went bonkers and was one over enthusiastic in his challenges resulting in a red card. I do feel Ings has that Borini sort of bull headed eagerness.

15.) 02 Nov 2016 17:45:00
Leek you are spouting rubbish based on conjecture, then assuming your rubbish is fact you then go on to make statements about that 'fact'.

I'm not twisting your words, just pointing out that they are garbage.

However, you're right, I should stop. You have been told the same thing by eds and posters alike and still spit the same guff!

As Joey once said, even pigeons learn fast than you!

Hey ho, live and let live!

16.) 03 Nov 2016 00:08:09
This is incredibly sad news for Danny Ings I wish him a speedy recovery not only physically but mentally as this set back coming so soon after being fit again must be mentally so tough to take . Get well soon Danny.

17.) 03 Nov 2016 02:10:15
Lee, stop using that nick, tarnishing the name of one of the greatest leaders in history.

18.) 03 Nov 2016 05:19:00
Lee, so "Bullheaded eagerness" led to the injury? Well, at least you are predictably consistent. With utter nonsense, complete garbage and moronic idiocy. I admire your Bullheaded eagerness with it.

19.) 03 Nov 2016 08:14:50
Ings can only get better, I suppose.

20.) 03 Nov 2016 09:15:48
In poor taste, Damo, but did make me chuckle for a minute!

Don't necessarily need a player report Ed, but always wondered what your opinion of Peter Beardesley was?
I started supporting Liverpool around that time, mainly because Ray Houghton was my hero!, but Beardsley, Barnes and Aldo seemed to be the original 'Front 3'

Always wondered why on Earth he was sold, to of all clubs, Everton. I even remember him scoring against Liverpool on MNF in the early years of the Premier League!

Anyway, just wondered what your opinion was of a player who's name really doesn't pop in the news anymore.

Macko

{Ed001's Note - to be honest I was just a kid when he played for us and whenever I was at Anfield I was just watching Barnes, who was my hero. So I didn't really take as much notice of him as I should. He was a bit of an unsung hero and sold too soon as they thought he was showing signs of fading. Quality player, who could continue to play at a very high level as he was not at all reliant on pace.}

1.) 24 Jan 2024 16:06:36
The Beardsley shuffle if you know you know. un-defendable. What a player.

2.) 24 Jan 2024 16:12:43
Liverpool sold a few players too early around that time, Houghton and Staunton are others that went too early.
Beardsley wasn't the only player to make that move, Gary Ablett also did it a few months later.
Sometimes I yearn for the days when Liverpool would sell players to Everton and vice versa but then I look at the Everton squad and it passes.

{Ed025's Note - just so long as you dont palm us off wit Jota or Gomes Thunderbird, we have enough average joe,s mate.. :)

3.) 24 Jan 2024 16:15:19
All part of Graeme Souness's litany of mistakes when he took over from the King.

4.) 24 Jan 2024 16:18:56
Was a bit like Benayoun.

5.) 24 Jan 2024 16:48:41
25, you'd be building a statue of Jota or Gomez inside a week.

{Ed025's Note - to be fair SR Joe is not getting in our back 4 mate, Tarks, Jarrad and Mykolenko are miles above him, Jota could get in as a false 9 i suppose if we can coach the clumsiness out of him of course.. :)

6.) 24 Jan 2024 17:44:41
Love it Ed0025.

My nan gets into your back 4 mate and the only clumsiness I’ve seen is when Calvert Lewin clumsily went in his younger sisters wardrobe and put her school uniform on.

{Ed025's Note - now that was a mistake JK.. :)

7.) 24 Jan 2024 18:02:57
Cmon Ed25.we agree on most things but saying Joe doesn't get into your back 4 is crazy.

{Ed025's Note - its the truth JCL, Branthwaite and Tarkowski are miles better mate and hes too fragile as a full back mate..

8.) 24 Jan 2024 18:06:41
@SR, says the guy who had the "prolific" and "eye-tested" Neil Maupay starting for his team and the "legend and defensive stalwart" Yery Mina starting at CB. Ed25 is a riot, I must admit.

{Ed025's Note - i never liked Maupay Oli and would certainly have Jota instead of him...even though Jota is like Mr Bean most of the time, Joe and Yerry are 2 peas in a pod for me mate, both decent but dont stay fit long enough to be classed as very good..

9.) 24 Jan 2024 18:52:40
Beardsley was better than Benayoun. For a bloke not exactly gifted with brains he was an utter genius on the pitch. Had two extra yards in his head and was brilliant with the ball at his feet. Plus there’s that impression that Bob Mortimer does of him which I recommend every one should listen to.

10.) 24 Jan 2024 19:16:05
Way better than Benayoun.

11.) 24 Jan 2024 19:21:39
Ed025 come on mate I don’t know about red tinted glasses on but if you think Tarkowskiis any good you need some glasses or if you have them they need a major upgrade just like Everton on Tarkowski who is a defender from the dark ages awful. But if that’s what you want for your club enjoy relegation battles every season.

{Ed025's Note - im actually a fan of his grino, plays with his heart on his sleeve and gives 100% every game mate, give me him over an accident waiting to happen like Joe who when he is actually fit is always prone to the odd howler..

12.) 24 Jan 2024 16:36:51
Cheers for that Ed. Looking back, in retrospect, he was one of the many players sold at that time way too early.

As you said, so clever and intricate. Didn't need speed, just controlled the attack.

I was same as you, a bit young to understand how things worked at that time, but was that one of the things that fecked us up in the early Premier League years?

13.) 24 Jan 2024 19:47:47
I am with you Ed I idolised Barnes growing up and damaged the hallway walls too many times for my parents liking trying to pass like him
Beardsley was a big part of my early support for Liverpool, for me a under the radar type player who was extremely good with the ball and a team player.

14.) 24 Jan 2024 18:11:49
@SR, says the guy who had the "prolific finisher" Neil Maupay starting for his side in addition to the "PL legend and defensive stalwart" Yery Mina starting at CB, as well. Ed25 is hilarious, you got to admit, lol.

And one last thing @Ed25, none of your back four nor front players would make the stands in the Kop on game day at LFC either so I guess we are even, right?

{Ed025's Note - never heard of Jarrad Branthwaite then Oli? he makes VVD look like Matip mate..

15.) 24 Jan 2024 20:25:28
Ed025 the years we won the champions league and league Gomez was outstanding. Last season he was awful and it took him a long time to recover from that awful injury and to be fair to him he has has a few but this season the more it goes on the better he is looking. As for Tarkowskiis Ed come on mate his a very limited defender that gets nowhere near the top sides in the league that’s why you got him for nothing and nobody else wanted him. Branthwaite Looks like a player though who I would like at are club for the future think him and Quansah both look like future England cb.

{Ed025's Note - Tarks is not as bad as you think grino mate..

16.) 24 Jan 2024 21:05:27
Branthwaite shows a lot of promise but he's got a long way to go. None of the rest can hold a candle to Joe Gomez. Not even close.

{Ed025's Note - this love fest for Joe wont last very long Flash, i have seen it all before mate, he will either get injured or make a few costly mistakes and it will be "get rid of him hes a liability"...its not as if it hasn,t happened before..

17.) 24 Jan 2024 21:05:40
Ed001 As for the first question I thought Beardsley was an outstanding player and up there with one of the worst manager decisions ever to sell him and replace him with dean saunders truly the start of the end of out dominance. I have not clue what Souness was thinking with some of his transfers.

18.) 24 Jan 2024 21:52:11
Late to the party, sorry. Beardsley was fantastic and I was gutted when he was sold. As close to Dalglish as any one I’ve seen, if memory serves, I am knocking on a bit though.

19.) 24 Jan 2024 22:11:36
Tarkowski is a wingnut with those ears Ed.

{Ed025's Note - he has got big ears VV, still waiting for Noddy to pay the ransom mate.. :)

20.) 25 Jan 2024 07:32:05
It’s not about where Tarkowski keeps his heart, it more about hoping that one day they unearth his brain.

06 Jan 2022 16:28:22
Am I missing something regarding Origi's contract?

Sky reporting that Italian clubs are looking to sign him on a pre-contact agreement this month

I thought he signed a new deal and still had a couple of years to go?

Macko

1.) 06 Jan 2022 16:36:33
He's out at the end of the season, but I think we have a one year extension option. I assume we'd have to activate that before he signs a deal with anyone else (ie. nowish) if we want to retain him or get a transfer fee in the summer.

2.) 06 Jan 2022 21:01:13
He’s been a great servant. I think sign him for the year unless another club comes in for him that he wants to love to. I think he’s an excellent sub. More than that he’s happy to play the bit part role that has made him a legend. I hope he stays a year longer.

3.) 06 Jan 2022 21:40:35
Sign him for the year, and if a good enough offer comes in for him and he can be replaced at the same time, then sell him with our thanks and appreciation for services well rendered. Better than letting him go on a free. We bought him for10 Million, we should be able to sell him for at least the same amount with a contract.

4.) 06 Jan 2022 21:54:20
Got a feeling he’s leaving this window to be honest.

5.) 06 Jan 2022 23:13:56
I read that the one year extension was based on him starting a certain number of premier league games. Not sure how true but given he’s started zero, I don’t know if there is an option to extend if true.

Good luck to him either way. Given us some incredible moments.

6.) 07 Jan 2022 08:43:40
Fully agree, AOE. If we can't sell him after he signs the extension (if it is possible to do so) then, we keep him and then he can leave after that. He is a great guy and loyal to the club and the fans, coaches and his team mates love him. Im certainly NOT going to try to run the guy outta town IF he wants to stay.

7.) 07 Jan 2022 10:34:07
Sell him, he’s scored some important goals but not good enough.

24 Dec 2021 08:09:17
With the Leeds game cancelled, what are the chances of Virg, Fabs, Thiago and Hendo being back for the Leicester game?

Would love to stuff them again, especially after their showing the other night. fans and players.

Macko

1.) 24 Dec 2021 08:31:38
I think we've proven we don't need them, that Leicester side was almost full strength and we dominated the second half.
Matip and Konate at the back, Hendo, Kieta, Milner/ Ox midfield, and any combination of the front 3 should be plenty enough.

The C.V. guys wouldn't have trained for a couple of weeks so I imagine they'll be given an extra week to train of possible.

2.) 24 Dec 2021 08:44:10
Well hendo played the other night so there a very good chance he will play!

3.) 24 Dec 2021 09:05:12
Max the lads did exceptionally well on wed night but we need to go as full strength as possible and I’m sure Klopp will. We overcame Leicester on penalties wed night and if that had been a league game it would have been 2 points dropped. And we can’t afford to drop any more points at the mo.

4.) 24 Dec 2021 09:11:04
At this stage of the season JK23 and probably for a few weeks I wouldn't be surprised if we played more like 80% strength (baring Chelsea) .
The C.V. guys will need time to recover anyway and others will need resting eventually, we can't go full strength forever so if we can rest 2 players a game I think we will.

5.) 24 Dec 2021 09:59:34
Max I understand where you’re coming from mate and it could very well happen. Klopp however very rarely rests the big guns in the league.
Hendo went straight back in on wed after sickness and Vvd has only been rested a couple of times this season. Due to Afcon we aren’t going to be full strength anyway and Mane and Salah will be a huge miss as they are our first line of defence and a massive outlet for us. Plus they score a ridiculous amount of goals. We have Jota there and Bobby will need to find his scoring boots along with the midfielders. Will be interesting to see who Klopp goes with though mate.

6.) 24 Dec 2021 10:18:26
Nobody will be rested for Leicester away everyone fit and available will be there and klopp will pick from those without thinking about the Chelsea game. I think it’s Wednesday Sunday or Tuesday Sunday but with no game before Leicester for a week there’s no need to worry. Yes January is a game pretty much every Sunday Wednesday but the Wednesday games are carabo cup and fa cup which gives chance to rest a few.

7.) 24 Dec 2021 10:20:09
i think the leeds game being off is a godsend all the boys have looked leggy last couple of league games, only downside is that Robbo will now be missing for the Chelsea game i guess.

8.) 24 Dec 2021 14:07:41
I aren't really bothered who plays, whoever it is we'll win the game. Our team will be much stronger than the other night that's for sure, bring them on.

9.) 24 Dec 2021 18:36:23
Salah agreed. Plus they might be wout vardy soyunchu.

10.) 24 Dec 2021 19:35:07
As long as the players go in with the mentality that they have to put the work in to get the win then we can and will beat anyone. If they turn up thinking that’s enough then we could send up with our 2nd loss or 6th draw of the campaign.

11.) 24 Dec 2021 21:14:20
@Salah, we’ll said mate - bring ‘em on.

12.) 25 Dec 2021 18:40:04
Not sure why we would b resting anyone fir the Leicester game. All our boys are fit and ready to go bar Thiago due to CV. All systems go and get out there at full pelt.

I see Harry Kane has written to UEFA tonight to try lay claim to the opening goal for Croatia earlier today!

Macko

1.) 29 Jun 2021 04:31:46
Its crazy how poor he has been but not a word about that from his friends in the media, he has talked the talk but has not walked the walk. ( so far) .

2.) 29 Jun 2021 07:26:09
I swear on my kids life!
The guy is clearly a top class goal scorer, can't deny that. Maybe he's not fit or whatever, but just like the huge mistake spurs made playing him against us in the CL final, there's no chance he won't start.
Who would other posters play in England's attack?

3.) 29 Jun 2021 08:17:30
The England setup does not suit him and that much is clear. Kane is a top player but needs everything to go thru him offensively and since England don’t even play fluid attacking football, how’s he supposed to perform esp in a tournament situation? There’s your problem right there.

21 Apr 2021 12:29:56
Have you ever tried to break up with someone you have been with for a long time? You feel that the time has come to move on and that you can maybe do better elsewhere.

But when you actually have the conversation with them, they get so upset with you that you have second thoughts. You don't want to upset them, or their friends/ family, and you agree to give it another shot.

So you get back to some kinda normality. Go for meals, nights out, cinema etc. But you both know, in the back of your minds, that one of you just doesn't have the heart in it anymore.

Worse still, if the dumpee decides to give the dumper a hard time, punishing them for the episode what will happen? Well the Dumper is probably going to become even more dis-illusioned with the relationship. Possibly start courting other interests on the side. And when the next opportunity arises, finally bite the bullet and finish things for good.

I believe FSG, and the other elite owners, have only one plan for the future. Their first 2 attempts to end the relationship have failed. But I'm guessing it is going to happen eventually. Especially if the Premier League, UEFA and FIFA sanction/ punish the breakaway clubs. I doubt this is the last of this.

I also can't believe that Mr Webb or Masters weren't on the bat phone to the VAR at the end to gift City their penalty!

I'm not saying anyone on this thread has been saying it, but I have noticed a little dismissing of Trent lately, particularly after the Arsenal game.
Also, with the emergence of the brilliant Bradley, we finally seem to have top class cover at right back.

But just going back to Trent for a second. I think we are really going to miss him and his skill set. Before his unfortunate injury i believe he was playing his best ever football for us. He has really grown into the leader role on the pitch and it has brought the best out of him.

I was actually listening to a podcast with Carra, New and Keano etc a couple of weeks ago. They were discussing the season so far and they were struggling to come up with a stand-out player of the season so far.
In the end they all agreed that Trent was probably the best best thus far.

Let's hope he gets back to that high level again in March.

It's hard to judge any pundits to be honest as they are all just trying to be controversial to just make a name for themselves .

I switch on the games 1 minute before kick off and switch it off as soon as the final whistle blows!

Even today, you had Merson coming out saying that Liverpool's title challenge could be over in the next couple of days! What the dope!

Stand to be corrected Gazza, but I thought I read somewhere a few years back that if the offending player (VVD) receives a yellow card for the tackle/ offence, then the injured player does not then have to leave the field after receiving treatment.

So as laughable as the situation was, with the little pr1ck rolling around like he'd been hit with a lump hammer, because the ref fell for his theatrics and booked Virgil. Therefore the Fulham player didn't have to go off.
