Good offer for neco willams no future with us let him move on.

Michael3011

1.) 29 Jun 2022 14:34:25
Ah yeah, take that first offer every time! no point haggling over millions.

2.) 29 Jun 2022 14:57:13
I wish all of the clubs that we tried buying players from always accepted our opening offer!

Patience.

3.) 29 Jun 2022 18:24:44
Thanks Michael but I’m glad you’re not running things for the club. There’s interest from a few sides and it’s still early days.

4.) 29 Jun 2022 22:13:09
I’m with you mate 11mil and possibly a sell on clause seems pretty fair. 15 would be better obviously but we always seem to over price our players. He’s not going to get a game so let the lad move. And regarding clubs not accepting our opening offer - slightly different we buy key first team players not third choice kids as is the case here.

{Ed0666's Note - isn’t the whole point of negotiations to go in high? Some of the folk on here would make terrible business persons

5.) 29 Jun 2022 22:46:03
I think he meant let’s let the kid go without messing him around. Obviously the more money the better etc.

{Ed0666's Note - what’s your say he’s over valued? He’s a full international with bags of ability/potential. Isn’t that Spence fella spurs want valued around the same price and yo my knowledge he’s not a full international

6.) 29 Jun 2022 22:55:15
Middlesbrough allegedly want £20m for Spence off the back of 1 season on loan in the championship. He's not a full international, has no senior tournament experience (yet) so how is £11m over pricing Neco?

{Ed0666's Note - I said that in a previous reply but not as beautifully as you obviously

7.) 29 Jun 2022 22:57:40
Neco would be nailed on our second choice if not for (and rightly so, he’s a very tidy player) his ambition, he certainly is not third choice. I don't believe we’d of bought CR if NW was happy to stay. He’s far better than back up, he knows it and we know it, why oh why should we sell him for dirt cheap to please someone else? I’ll stick to letting the right heads run the club and not a website lol.

8.) 29 Jun 2022 23:24:55
Not saying he’s overvalued at all ed. apologies if that was what it sounded like. Everyone was taking the p. and I felt the op was more about letting the kid go. Not necessarily at the first offer. Just take good money for him and wish him the best. Honestly, I’m not sure what the actual bid is though 20 million sounds a reasonable amount in this day and age. I think he’s a good player myself but I can’t see him breaking into this team in the near future. I hope we do a good deal, send him on his way and he has a stellar career.

9.) 30 Jun 2022 00:05:51
Beautiful thread - a discussion about finance., player valuation and business negotiation to agree on an acceptable valuation to both buyer and seller. A board favourite. As ever, informed by social media and without any evidence of fact whatsoever. If. You don’t enjoy this you ‘ll never enjoy a transfer window.

10.) 30 Jun 2022 00:43:33
We sell neco- we get in leonardo. No problem. That’s how it’s done.

11.) 30 Jun 2022 07:02:42
When compared to the money Middlesbrough want for Spence it does in fairness look like peanuts the offer Forest made.

12.) 30 Jun 2022 08:55:00
OP, anyone thinking that we accepted the first offer Fulham made is on some kind of serious meds that they need to stop taking. That is not how any form of negotiation works.

13.) 30 Jun 2022 10:29:55
Ed666 of course you get what you can but ask for too much and over price and people leave the table. How often have we struggled to offload fringe players because we’ve over valued them and they eventually leave for free? He’s an academy graduate is he not? Once you factor in training costs etc there’s a massive profit in 11mil. I also said a sell on clause because he has bags of potential so with a 15-20% clause, which you’d probably only get with a lower price, you could end up with more than the 15mil over time. That sounds like decent business to me.

14.) 30 Jun 2022 12:48:23
I'm just amazed we have so many high level business strategists amongst our ranks! Any chance some you could have a word with Putin since we're all expert negotiators?

15.) 30 Jun 2022 14:55:07
No one is saying we’re amazing business strategists or high level negotiators. Just under the impression that it’s a game of opinions and we were allowed to have opinions on the business side of things? Every single week we have posters talking about their opinions on team selections and tactics, posts analyzing the matches should we not talk about those too as they’re not expert tacticians, statistician or analysts?

16.) 30 Jun 2022 15:15:53
It was said tongue in cheek more at the fact that the OP posts his opinion (like you clearly state above) then gets lambasted and ridiculed by people merely for having an opinion on something by people stating things as if they're facts. And the general tone read as if these people were experts in the field of football negotiations and the OP should be ashamed to suggest something so outrageous. Last I checked, this was a banter site, and no poster should be made to feel they can't post an opinion without being replied to as if they're an idiot.

17.) 30 Jun 2022 16:03:23
What % of academy players make it this far? The ones we sell should help pay for all the others, the staff, etc and if we run the academy really well then we will get a few first team players for us and for others - the ones for other smaller clubs should help fund our own transfer business too.

We might agree on £13M yet but that extra £2M would still come in handy.

18.) 30 Jun 2022 17:35:46
Stuie_boy I can't speak for others but I was in no way "lambasting" anyone for their opinion. I merely pointed out the fee another club allegedly wanted for a less experienced player.

19.) 01 Jul 2022 12:18:35
Take a chill pill, Stuie.

18 Jun 2022 18:00:07
What is all this talking about the ox as part of our midfield every time he played he contributed nothing has to go.

Michael3011

1.) 18 Jun 2022 20:00:05
Manchester City fans may not agree with the "contributed nothing" bit.

2.) 18 Jun 2022 20:26:21
We can’t sign anymore shiny new toys. Certain people will already be upset we’ve signed 3 new shiny toys this window. They won’t be able to take anymore heartache.

3.) 18 Jun 2022 23:40:15
Not about that JK23 mate. If the manager is happy with what he has then what's the point in crying that we do or don't need another midfielder?

10 Jun 2022 11:05:35
Philips from Leeds no thanks too injury prone.

Michael3011

1.) 10 Jun 2022 11:24:35
To be fair, he's 26 years old and missed 23 games in his career. He had 1 major hamstring injury last season which saw him miss 16 games, and it seems it's been blown out of proportion as a result. I'll admit i had to look this up the other day because i also thought he had a poor injury record. Seems it is not so.

Whether or not he's good enough is a debate worth having. I think he lacks defensive awareness which is arguably not what we want in a player who might have to cover Fabinho!

2.) 10 Jun 2022 12:12:22
23 games in his career? steer well clear of that sicknote.

3.) 10 Jun 2022 12:53:06
I think he’s a half decent squad player myself.
Much rather him than Keita.

4.) 10 Jun 2022 12:33:27
If he signs he won't be coming as cover for Fabinho in my opinion.

5.) 10 Jun 2022 12:44:48
It’s funny on here sometimes, Phillips is injury prone but Joe Gomez was unlucky.

6.) 10 Jun 2022 12:49:02
Tell me about it Jadon. Played 255, missed 23. Injury prone ????

Worst thing is i believed it until i looked it up!

7.) 10 Jun 2022 13:25:14
Where has this come from lads? Has there been movement on it or is it just speculation?

8.) 10 Jun 2022 13:35:55
Phillips price being HG makes him unlikely compared to Sangare or a cheaper CM. Maybe a Vitinha if club thinks Hendo and Milner can cover for Fab.

9.) 10 Jun 2022 14:00:35
OMM, Ed002 confirmed interest.

10.) 10 Jun 2022 14:57:50
Thanks MK. I didn't see that.

11.) 10 Jun 2022 21:28:15
OP, he’s not even that good.

28 May 2022 10:57:13
Nunez please.

Michael3011

1.) 28 May 2022 12:03:14
For what?

2.) 28 May 2022 12:13:51
About £100m Barry 😃.

3.) 28 May 2022 13:01:53
At least.

4.) 28 May 2022 13:16:22
£100m is the going rate for a top class striker. Makes more sense than £150m on Kane or £50m on Lewandowski.

5.) 28 May 2022 13:41:09
Looked good against us. But has anyone watched him on a regular basis? I havnt so wondering if anyone has.

6.) 28 May 2022 13:49:01
Is Nunez top class? He looms very good but.
75-100m on tablet is big money.

7.) 28 May 2022 15:05:23
Depends on the size of the tablet MrT 😁.

8.) 28 May 2022 15:14:42
Diaz was outscoring him in Portugal this season and only cost 40 mill. Double the price seems a bit steep.

9.) 28 May 2022 15:24:56
He gave our defenders a hard time Mr T and he’s been banging them in left right and centre in Portugal.

10.) 28 May 2022 15:31:08
If you want the best, you have to pay the going price.

If ye buy cheap ye buy "TWICE".

It's about time Jurgen and "all of us" shopped in Harrods and not the local "TESCO".

11.) 28 May 2022 16:02:08
“It’s about time”? If Klopp and his team haven’t convinced you yet that they know what they’re doing when it comes to transfers then I give up.

12.) 28 May 2022 16:14:57
I agree, stoneage.
If we had won all four some 'fans' would still moan.

13.) 28 May 2022 16:28:50
“ It’s about time” to do what, exactly? Time for Klopp to do what you want? Nope, it is not about time for Klopp to do what any fan wants and long may that continue. On the contrary, Its about time for people to start trusting the manager more than anything else.

14.) 28 May 2022 17:46:15
LFC Scout talking to Klopp about Nunez:

Scout: Jurgen, I like this guy Nunez, you need to have a serious look.
Klopp: Can he run fast and score goals?
Scout: Yes, he runs very fast and scores goals.
Klopp: Can he press from the front?
Scout: No he runs very fast and scores goals
Klopp: Is he good at linking up with the other forwards?
Scout: He just runs fast and scores goals, Jurgen
Klopp: Can he tackle, is he good with his head?
Scout: He runs very fast and scores goals

(you can imagine the rest of the conversation)

15.) 28 May 2022 17:57:48
Reckon you'd get him for more like 60m.

16.) 28 May 2022 18:20:50
Magico, I wouldn't pay a cent over what was paid for Haaland. Which was 51 Million plus all the various niceties.

10 May 2022 14:42:45
How much would we get for
Sarah
Mane
Firminio
Thanks.

Michael3011

1.) 10 May 2022 15:05:22
Mid table at best🤣.

2.) 10 May 2022 15:05:41
Nobody is paying a penny for Bobby. Salah will fetch some as is Mane. But nothing like Haaland or Martinez.

3.) 10 May 2022 15:06:46
Probably get a fair bit for Sarah!

4.) 10 May 2022 14:56:52
About enough for a Declan Rice!

5.) 10 May 2022 15:07:56
£2.50 for Sarah
£50 million for Mane
£20 million for Firmino.

6.) 10 May 2022 15:18:41
Nobody is paying £20 mill for Bobby @Irish. Other than LFC fans drooling over “he creates space for others” the guy hardly scores 😂😂😂. And uptop when you don’t score you don’t fetch money. He is going to leave for free.

7.) 10 May 2022 15:36:13
Please tell me you’re being sarcastic harry!

8.) 10 May 2022 15:39:47
You'd think being a City fan would make Harry understand players creating space for others, winning the ball back high up the pitch, overloading the midfield etc but alas.

9.) 10 May 2022 16:12:09
Pointless buying Salah or Mane without Bobby. They can’t score unless he plays.

10.) 10 May 2022 16:29:12
If Bobby came on against Spurs we get 3 points that’s all I need to know. As for you lot who want him sold good job klopp loves him too.

11.) 10 May 2022 16:36:38
Bit of a contradiction there Harry. Liverpool purchased Firmino and paid plenty for him too. Do you know he also played "up top" for us too. CL and PL winner also Harry, most successful Liverpool team in 30 years with a non scoring Bobby "up top". creating space 👍👍.

12.) 10 May 2022 16:43:44
Oh no City have signed a striker and the world is going to end.

Controversial opinion - Haaland doesn't make them any better.

13.) 10 May 2022 17:38:40
Bobby came on against Spurs in our first draw back in December.

My original comment was tongue in cheek. But let’s not act like we’ve never drawn or lost a game with Bobby on the pitch.

14.) 10 May 2022 17:41:27
City were a great team when they had Aguero, continued to be a great team when they no longer had Aguero, and will probably continue still to be the same level of great when Haaland arrives. There is kind of a ceiling that you hit as a football team, you’ll still not win every game, it’s 22 men kicking a bag of wind around at the end of the day. It’s not an exact science and if it was, nobody would watch it. Improving your team is not linear, you can’t calculate how much utility a player is providing another team in a foreign country and assume they will add the exact same utility to yours, it’s not simple addition it’s a multivariate equation. If they bought 5 Haaland’s then each Haaland they bought would not improve them the same amount, the returns would diminish.

As i seem to say on all my posts these days, people online have very short memories and don’t seem to have observed a lot of trends in football over the years. I personally think Haaland will improve City, but his link up play and injury record leave much to be desired, plus it is a far harder league. We’ve seen Pep spunk loads on big name strikers before and, in the words of the particular striker i am thinking of, ‘bought a Ferrari and drove it like a Fiat’.

City will be better off for signing him but we’ve seen them with and without a world class striker already and in both eras we were still their equal. Anybody decrying it as ‘the End of the Premier League’ is a whining muppet and is probably just jealous of their shiny new toy.

15.) 10 May 2022 17:45:40
He probably will to be honest.

16.) 10 May 2022 17:51:36
Wasn’t harry just drooling over Bobby after his last game?

17.) 10 May 2022 17:58:25
FPP, Haaland DOES make them better, from what I have seen of him, he would make almost every team in the world better.

However, I do agree that the world is not going to end because they have bought him. Nor do I believe it makes us any less great!

18.) 10 May 2022 18:21:02
To say he doesn’t make them better is a bit of a reach, he’s a 20 goals a season player, which does make things harder for us if he means they win 5 or 6 leagues games more than us every year. My hope is that he fails massively a la Ibrahimovic at Barca.

19.) 10 May 2022 18:26:17
JUST IN

Manchester City recruit Erling Haaland has officially retired from winning the Champions League at just 21 years of age.

20.) 10 May 2022 18:46:22
Well Pelican not too many players from the Bundesliga have lit up the PL. Havertz, Werner, Pulisic, Sancho, etc.

21.) 10 May 2022 18:53:16
Bobby was playing well before his latest injury. We needed someone to hold up the ball against City. For me a big miss.

22.) 10 May 2022 18:56:40
Firmino is only 2 goals off 100 for us.

Not bad for someone who doesn't score.

23.) 10 May 2022 19:05:42
Agreed fly. controversial opinion number 2.he's injury prone like naby.

24.) 10 May 2022 19:07:36
His injury record ain't the best.

25.) 10 May 2022 19:20:54
Haaland has missed a lot of this season unlike Bobby who has only had the 5 separate injuries 👀🤣.

26.) 10 May 2022 19:29:49
Haaland is 21, Firmino is 30. When Firmino was 21 he was playing 30+ league games per season, Haaland has never managed that in his career.

27.) 10 May 2022 19:34:30
Bobby's first season on the sidelines. Maybe it's age maybe it's bad luck both or neither. But Haaland will be their main man. Wouldn't shock me to see a couple depart sterling jesus dare i say it haircut 100 (million) grealish. Showing my age. lol.

28.) 10 May 2022 21:07:27
Yeah good point that

Haaland club games played

21/ 22 - 29
20/ 21 - 41
19/ 20 - 40
18/ 19 - 10.

29.) 10 May 2022 22:30:22
I think we’ll be better next season.

30.) 10 May 2022 22:31:18
To be fair Haaland’s scoring record has been impressive . If he continues on at the rate he is going throughout his career he will be remembered as an excellent goal scorer. The thing is though, it’s easier when you are trying to build a reputation than it is when you have one. The really good players can do it for years and get better and better - let’s see how he goes shall we.

On the subject of Bobby, he isn’t just an ‘out and out’ goal scorer although he does know where the new is. He also has a lot of football intelligence- he has an instinctive feel for what. ’s happening / going to happen and it puts him ahead of most footballers. He can make space for players, see and hit a killer pass and hold the ball when needed. He is also a very good first line of defence and he will be missed when he goes.

One final thought ; who should be selected for the Balon D’Or this year? Come on now tell the truth, dis anybody think Mo or Sadio? How many of you thought Harland?

To be honest I’m happy with the Famous Five’ we have and would love to see them still be our options for 2022-23.

31.) 10 May 2022 23:36:38
Haaland is the big fish from the small pond making a jump to the big pond. The thing with the big pond is that there are plenty of other big fish there too. Like big tall CB's who leave you with bruising memories of matches. Let's see how it works before anointing him with the Golden Boot. Ask Lukaku how that worked out.

Haaland is no Aguero. And Guardiola fiddles around with everyone, especially their brains. Aguero would have had more succesfull final years at ManCity if Guardiola had left him alone to just play football.

32.) 11 May 2022 00:08:11
Haaland is a very good player and should improve City in the tight games. They’ve needed an out and out goal scorer all season and they’ve obviously hung their hat on him.
It’s not as easy as just saying he’s a great player he’ll improve them though. You can’t just add a player without taking one away so by adding him what do you lose? Mahrez’s trickery? Foden’s intricacy? Jesus’s intelligent running?
He’s a very good player no doubt but only time will tell what effect adding him has on the rest of the team.
