Ed01. Is there anything in the Medel rumours. Lazy recycled journalism?

Cheers pal.

Mr. T

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I will have to check, I would never take any notice without triple checking as he is one of my fave players.}

1.) 18 Jul 2016 19:55:41
I'd like this to happen if only to make an ed happy!

2.) 18 Jul 2016 20:34:21
Medel would be a quality signing. He's an utter nutter on the pitch, his aggression and commitment is fantastic. I remember his performance for Cardiff vs man city where he basically ran the show. He's a pivotal part of that great Chile team.

3.) 18 Jul 2016 20:40:03
i think he would be a great signing and upgrade on lucas. could cover for centre back position if opponent allow us, if we want better protection in away games he is the answer as he is not only good defender of the back 4,he is solid disturber of the ball, aggresive and good positioned. really like him as a player.

4.) 18 Jul 2016 21:09:09
I like the sound of can and Medel in the middle.

5.) 18 Jul 2016 21:38:24
Thanks ed01.

I remember you rating him a couple of seasons ago, has he performed in Italy? I believe that's where he went?

Let us know when you know buddy.

Cheers.

{Ed001's Note - he certainly did in his first season, but I never followed his progress last season.}

6.) 18 Jul 2016 22:46:35
It makes more sense than signing this lad from Augsburg.
Medel is a very good midfielder as well as being a capable emergency centre back.

7.) 18 Jul 2016 22:17:54
Cheers buddy.

8.) 19 Jul 2016 01:07:36
Actually Ron, I'd say it makes more sense than Wijnaldum.

9.) 19 Jul 2016 01:50:43
Now this is a signing I'd love to see, but some how I don't see a deal happening.

10.) 19 Jul 2016 07:17:57
But why would we sign a DM when 99% of people on here said we don't need one? They're an irrelevant player according to most. There isn't a tougher tackler in the business so surely he would be a needless buy whom most would rather us do without?

{Ed001's Note - he is more than a defensive midfielder, he is a playmaker from deep.}

11.) 19 Jul 2016 07:51:35
Eds that doesn't stop the fact that DM, deep lying playmakers were all mentioned in the same breath with most saying they were nothing more than a modern fiction I think Ron called them. An uneccessary anacronism. Like you eds I like the guy and think his kind of player is what's been missing from our midfield. Plus he can play CB if needed. Just a shame everything points to it being untrue.

12.) 19 Jul 2016 12:08:38
Np I was one of the people I think you're inferring about. However my point anyway was there's no point having essentially a third cb playing in midfield who contributes only when we are without the ball. I would need a bit of convincing regards medel however he is certainly capable of starting attacks and making runs from deep to the edge of the box that results in goals for him also. He does while maintaining good positional discipline and would slot in a midfield 2.
This is completely different from say playing a midfield 3 where you have one basically playing as a free roaming cb who doesn't get on the ball much and doesn't contribute to an attack. This in my opinion is a waste of a player in a 11 where the 2 in front should be competent enough to not be baby sat through a game because they have no positional discipline when without the ball. Of course when you have a strong midfield 2 like this you can then field an extra winger/ attacking midfielder/ striker which should contribute more to the team as a whole.

Morning eds.

I really don't think we need to spend a massive amount in the summer - BR seems to have the gift of improving players and creating an atmosphere and team spirit that everyone believes in.

I think maybe a mobile, defensive minded midfielder, a left back and a left sided forward is what we will go for.

We have Suso to come back and Texeira will be a year older and from the little I've seen of him looks very promising.

Maybe the way for us is to promote from within, do what Barca have done. We have the coaches to do it now it seems.

Can't wait to see where we are in another 9 games time.

Question for eds,

Do you have any knowledge of what will happen regarding Johnson/Enrique next season?

Are they viewed as first team players for next year?

Cheers guys

Mr. T

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any plans at this time to sell Johnson or Enrique in the summer.}

1.) Ok. Cheers 02

2.) Don't think we need a defensive mid, we have gerrard and Lucas competing for one spot there now, I think an all round centre mid to compete for places with hendo and allen

3.) Do this mean you expect Johnson to be offered a new contract?

{Ed002's Note - I have no idea what the plans are about his contract.}

07 Dec 2013 23:40:02
Good 3 points today.

Malumbu of west brom looks decent.

Any teams interested in him eds?

Could be a clever purchase!

Onwards and upwards

Mr. T

{Ed001's Note - yes there has been a few times looked at him. Pulis wanted him for Stoke, Southampton considered him prior to the arrival of Wanyama.}

12 Aug 2013 10:39:06
Hi eds.
With Downing looking like he's off to West Ham, are we looking at replacing him? I know we have Sturridge and Aspas who are left sided right forwards but I thought Downing was a solid squad player. {Ed001's Note - we already have replaced him, we are looking for a left sided forward to allow Coutinho to play more central now.}

Mr. T

1.) Tom Ince will replace Downing, the fee will be £5.2M and wages of £30k.

2.) Tom Ince is a much better player than Downing, would love Ince to come in at that price, but I know he wants first team football. What do you think Eds?

3.) 12 Aug 2013 14:56:47
Ed's who is the replacement? don't tell me Aspas he not nearly quick enough to fly up and down the wings deffinate goal getter but not a wide player IMO. {Ed001's Note - Sterling, Ibe, Aspas are all in the squad as replacements.}

Harvey Elliott seems to have a wise head on his very young shoulders.

He is developing into a great player and great person 👍

Keep it up young man.

YNWA.

Mr. T

1.) 23 Apr 2021 15:49:49
Needs to stop pouting doing peace signs on social media. Looks like a 12 year old girl.

{Ed001's Note - if that's the worst thing he does then we should be very glad.}

2.) 23 Apr 2021 16:03:14
For a young lad, as a good head on him, some very touching Hillsborough tributes.

3.) 23 Apr 2021 18:16:11
Yep definitely needs to stop doing peace signs on social media. Who does he think he is?

4.) 23 Apr 2021 18:25:48
Would you rather he put pro-war messages on social media BigVirg? It doesn’t make him look like a 12 year old girl at all. Reflects a deeper level of consciousness and empathy.

On the same day it is announced that the pillar of integrity that is Ryan Giggs is to appear in court on two charges of assault. On women.

I think we should thank our lucky stars we have such a young man with integrity on our books.

5.) 23 Apr 2021 19:46:39
Mane mane, have a word. the lad is a teenager and doing the peace sign. what's wrong with that? Are you going to slag him off for that? No wonder the players get abuse.

6.) 23 Apr 2021 19:59:12
He could hang around off the field in a neon dress and high heels for all I care, as long as he doesn't get himself into trouble in his time and applies himself properly in training/ matches.

7.) 23 Apr 2021 20:26:28
Spot on hijkle. He’s a teenager. Live and let live man.

8.) 23 Apr 2021 20:31:52
Everyone at Blackburn says he’s one of the hardest working in training and gives everything on the pitch too. Takes responsibility and doesn’t hide when things aren’t going right. Good lad by the sounds of it.

9.) 23 Apr 2021 22:13:23
Understand sarcasm Marty? I'm with Ed's on this one. If posting peace signs on social media is the worst thing he gets up to then the kid is fine.

10.) 23 Apr 2021 22:30:14
I really like him. Just hope he doesn't try to trademark some stupid goal celebration. I've seen a player score his first ever goal and do some stupid hand gesture to a camera in front of an empty stadium and I want to kick the telly. Yes, I'm old and grumpy.

11.) 24 Apr 2021 11:39:25
I like him and will definitely give us an option next season, could see him on the right, Salah through the centre and Mane or Jota on the left. Even without adding more to the attack (which I think this season has shown we need) he would add more variety in our attack - has done well and worked hard at Blackburn so hope he gets his chance

If we are buying someone, I'd like someone that can play on the left to rotate with Mane. Whilst Jota can play there I prefer him through the centre and would give us yet another variety of attack.

16 Mar 2021 10:16:21
Well after last night. I hope hope Kopp decides that Traore is not for us.

Mr. T

1.) 16 Mar 2021 10:54:27
Shocker of a player, if so much fuss wasn't made about his size he would be in the Championship.

2.) 16 Mar 2021 10:56:00
That’s unfair, he was the most potent of Wolves’ attacking threat.
He’s not got much to aim at or support up top at present and that has clearly affected his numbers.
Neto was anonymous if you want to look at it like that too.
Traore’s physicality, aside from his pace, would add something to Liverpool’s group too.

3.) 16 Mar 2021 11:20:26
He is a beefed up Lennon, his end product is awful, he wouldn't add anything to Liverpool's attack apart from making the corner flag very nervous every 5 minutes. Usain Bolt has pace but you wouldn't want him on the wing.

4.) 16 Mar 2021 11:45:38
The Juicer, Traore literally has no end product, how many goals and assists this season? Zero. Even Jesse Lingard has more and that is not something to be proud of. There are far better players around Europe for the amount Wolves are asking.

5.) 16 Mar 2021 16:33:39
Beauty is in the eyes of the beholder I guess 6times.
If you can’t accept that Traore has been affected by Wolves’ form and forward travails, then what does it say for Thiago’s struggles and lack of goals / assists?

{Ed001's Note - he was poor before Jiminez was injured. I really don't know what you see in him and there is absolutely no relation between him and Thiago. That was a truly ludicrous comparison to make between an actual world class proven player new to the country and type of play and a player who has been here for an extremely long period but still shows no sign of being able to make it, apart from the odd moment every ten games. He is lazy, doesn't make forward runs and should be being compared to Salah, as they play the same position. Except Salah, even though Liverpool's form has been poor, has still managed some goals, whereas Traore has managed to hoof the ball into the stand.}

6.) 16 Mar 2021 18:14:36
That’s the point though, put players in different environments and they can perform differently.
I’m sure if Traore was in Bayern’s side his numbers and our view of him would probably be much more favourable.
I actually quite enjoyed the game last night and thought both teams did quite well, trying to be positive. Thiago did ok, Traore did ok.
Traore can certainly offer more than Origi and Shaqiri, and his attributes fit our forward style.
I accept you don’t like him, that’s ok lol.

{Ed001's Note - I doubt it, Traore is lazy, he doesn't run, Bayern would not want him, that is why they are not interested in him. It is not about like, it is about not rating him as a player. I don't know him to like or dislike him, but I know how he plays and it is at a tenth, or worse, of the level he is actually capable of. He stands around waiting for the ball to come to him, when there is space to run into behind the defence. If he actually bothered to make a run, he could be devastating the way Salah is. But that would take effort.}

7.) 17 Mar 2021 00:06:09
I think he’s a an absolute machine and should be terrorising any defence he comes up against. He had a spell last season when he was literally unplayable.
The lack of end product blah, blah, blah is a red herring. He can be coached into a better player and with more options I think he could do some damage so that doesn’t worry me.
My worry would be his stamina. There’s a reason why all footballers aren’t beefed up like him. That’s a lot of weight to carry around for 90 minutes of high intensity activity.
I think that’s why he looks lazy, he can’t do it physically and needs rest in game.

01 Feb 2021 10:59:18
Is Kabak the one who spat at an opponent in Germany?

If so, I don't think he's the right guy for us. We've built a really great team ethic and would fear that his personality could rock the boat.

Suppose we have to trust Klopp on this one if it does happen.

Mr. T

{Ed002's Note - Yes he is and he was given a five game fine and their was a huge backlash in Germany.}

1.) 01 Feb 2021 11:06:20
Great 😪

Cheers no2.

2.) 01 Feb 2021 11:21:38
Not trying to excuse it, as its disgusting! But I remember years ago. My strike partner who was a very experienced guy and played at a good level. Never been sent off his whole career barely booked. Very quiet lad in general. Did similar one game! He played another year before retired and now a coach. He said he still doesn't know why it happened and regrets it more than anything else in his almost 20 year career. Sorry for long post. Point is even the most placid of people can do something daft in the heat of the moment. Let's not completely judge a lad barely out his teens for a split second act of stupidity. As I said at start, it's truly disgusting especially with C.V. on the go also. But let's hope it was a one off and he's learned his lesson.

{Ed002's Note - I don't think anyone would suggest Kabak is placid.}

3.) 01 Feb 2021 11:23:18
Pretty poor show from Kabak, possibly one of the worst things you can do to another human being but I don't believe in throwing people on the scrap heap either. There has to be a way back. If he comes then welcome, just don't be letting yourself or the club down again. Plain and simple.

4.) 01 Feb 2021 11:24:50
IMO, Spitting at someone is one of if not, the most disrespectful thing you can do to anyone and I am glad they threw the book at him.

5.) 01 Feb 2021 11:55:36
Totally agree Bazza, such a strange season. Spurs were in the title conversation 2 games ago, but they are now as close to 16th as they are to 1st!

From our point of view, 2 games down, 17 more to go.

6.) 01 Feb 2021 12:05:51
I’ll be disappointed if we get him because that’s a vile thing to do at the best of times, let alone in a C.V.. The only way it could be worse is if we brought in Mustafi,

7.) 01 Feb 2021 12:17:13
If he turns out to become as good as Rijkaard, ill forgive it, lol, horrible act.

8.) 01 Feb 2021 12:51:28
Ed002. I was referring to my old strike partner being placid. Not Kabak mate. Sorry if my post wasn't clear. Thanks for all the information you provide us.

{Ed002's Note - Sorry - thanks.}

26 Jan 2021 13:32:37
Hi eds.

Cheers.

Mr. T

{Ed002's Note - Wrong page - this is the Liverpool page.}

1.) 26 Jan 2021 13:45:18
Ok. No worries.

15 Jan 2021 10:01:54
I've heard Skrtel is a free agent.

Mr. T

{Ed025's Note - im sure the recruitment officer for asda trolley wardens will be happy to hear that Mr T..

1.) 15 Jan 2021 10:43:20
Isn’t he also out for the season with an injury. Could bring him in to keep Vvd, Gomez and Kieta company in the physio room.

2.) 15 Jan 2021 10:44:23
Are you on some kind of therapy, we don't need him near our club and you want him to play for us. Beggar's belief.

3.) 15 Jan 2021 12:13:49
I would like him as a coach on the bench to intimidate the opposition subs, their coaches, the linesman and the 4th official. The guy for such a menacing looking fella never really seemed to be that aggressive, was he a bit of a gentle giant?

4.) 15 Jan 2021 12:49:24
Love it Ed025😂Shooting from the hip as always mate👍.

{Ed025's Note - i have a reputation to uphold barry mate.. :)

5.) 15 Jan 2021 14:05:43
A worthy one at that Ed025.

6.) 15 Jan 2021 14:43:15
What dod skrtel do wrong? He was a defender who did well for us. Why shoot him down?

7.) 15 Jan 2021 15:12:45
Nothing, AK. He was a defender who did fine under a different system. I'd rather have Hendo at CB than him right now, purely due to familiarity with the system and pace. Hendo may not be lightening fast but he is compared to Skrtel.

It wouldn't suprise me at all. I've never known a goalie to pick up so many injuries.

Just when we thought we'd turned a corner.

Suppose we'll find out in an hour or so.

I agree with you ed01. I expected Klopp to strip the fat this summer and to build a quality first 11.

This GW transfer seriously scares me.

Newcastle paid what, £14m? Why are we willing to pay a reported £24m for someone we haven't even monitored? What did he do last year to warrant a move to us? I know he scored a few goals but like much of his teamates he went missing.

We still need to strengthen left back. If we start the season with Moreno after his performances last year, as highlighted in the Europa League final, I will be seriously disappointed in our Jurgen!

I hope he knows what he's doing.

Cheers.

The best thing Brewster can do is to have a top season in the championship - 25+ goals and hope that one of the promoted teams go in for him.

Yeah, silly comments from him really.

Don't get me wrong, Kabak seems like a bit of a scallywag BUT also appears to be a very decent player.

Just shows that Merson doesn't have any knowledge of German football.

Big deal if Shalke are bottom of the league. Robbo and Gini both got relegated.
