Massive kudos to Emre Can for turning down an invite to give Turkish premier Erdogan a PR boost. Good on you Emre. 👍🏽.

1.) 16 May 2018 20:33:23
That is cos he is Kurdish and not turkish. This is the same for Ozil, Gundogan, Nuri Sahin and many many more
Kurds in turky were not even allowed to say they were Kurdish, speak the language or celebrate the culture until about 13 years ago.

Even though most live in Germany, they still fear retaliation for them and their families back in turky.

Most Kurdish players who play for turky play out of fear for them not choice.

This has always been the case so not an issue connected to erdogan, but systematic practice by turkish government and the turkish culture.

2.) 16 May 2018 21:39:59
Ozil and Gundogan met him didn't they?

3.) 16 May 2018 22:21:44
Didnt know this was a political page now.

4.) 16 May 2018 23:26:07
Seosamh1990. I share your sentiment and apologies to you and any others who may have been put off my comment/ reply.

But football was long ago politicised.

It is a shame becuse it is a great sport/ activity which can bring all sorts of people together and bond.
One of the easiest ways to break down barriers amongst other positive attributes it has.

5.) 17 May 2018 05:35:46
Politics is everywhere Seosamh, and it is important as it shapes our lives to an extent. If you don't want to discuss it fine, but don't try and shut other people down.

6.) 17 May 2018 05:50:54
Thanks Redkurd. It’s good to be informed of these things.

7.) 16 May 2018 22:35:36
Yup you’re right, they did Something Red.
They met at 4 seasons hotel in London along with Cenk Tosun. No one looked like they were forced to stand there and all of them had a smile on their face. Most Kurdish players playing for turkey do not play out of fear what a load of bull lol. If you want to spread fake bad news about Turkish people go to the politics page rather then come here and lie just to get people against Turkish people. By the way Kurds were ALLOWED to say they were Kurdish so long as they went by the rules of the country like everyone else and not want Turkey attacked by the PKK a terrorist group, showing any support to
A terrorist group that has been aganst and attacked your country for many years is obviously not be greeted with a warm welcome.
Politics ain’t of this page tho. Peace love and football ✌🏼.

8.) 17 May 2018 09:24:31
Point as to why politics are not welcome is you should never believe what the media tells you. Relating to football in a way if we signed every player the media said then we would have enough players to fill 20 squads and compete in our own league lol.

9.) 17 May 2018 09:51:38
Gubdogan wore a printed shirt that read 'For my president' or something. German FA were livid.

{Ed001's Note - him, Ozil and Tosun gave Erdogan signed shirts.}

10.) 17 May 2018 10:06:05
This is not a political page folks and media is full of crap these days.
Red Kurd mate, your info is completely false though. That is just Emre Can's political preference, nothing sort of racial at all.

11.) 17 May 2018 12:51:28
As RichieTheRed says he is not Kurdish and neither are any of the players you mentioned: Özil has claimed those making claims of his heritage are wrong and his ancestors hail from Devrek: Gündoğan's family hails from Balikesir, and ; Şahin is also straight-forwardly of Turkish parentage. THEY ARE ALL GERMAN! It is unfair of you Red Kurd to spread a political agenda by using this situation. much like despotic Erdoğan used the situation to electioneer! I can understand why Germany have an issue with the footballers taking a photo such as they did. I do not like Erdoğan and I'm sure many people do not either. AND for your information many MANY people stand for freedom and democratic values in Turkey that have been lost under Erdoğan and a whole host of them are not Kurdish. You are tarring all Turks with the same brush you suggest Erdoğan is tarring Kurds. You are right however. football has been politicized for a long time. even Hitler used the draw of the game and Mussolini fixed the world cup of 1934 and 1938 even though he hated football. Let's just hope FIFA do not grant a world cup to Turkey and all should be well.

12.) 17 May 2018 09:09:40
That's correct, Alsky123. I completely agree with your sentiments.
This definitely isn't a political page, Red Kurd, so leave it out, and stop spreading this nonsense! The majority of Kurds living in Turkey get along well with locals.

Peace, love and football.
Champions League final coming up and can't come soon enough. Here's to No.6. YNWA.

13.) 18 May 2018 08:44:57
It's too late to leave politics out of football, unfortunately.

Where do you think the money for 200 million player transfers is coming from? Ticket sales? Children buying replica shirts and footballs?

Why are PSG and City suddenly global powers in football? Because of their amazing youth academies?

Why is the World Cup in Russia next month? And in Qatar after that? On merit?

Football today is huge money, and huge money is tied to geopolitics.

11 Nov 2017 17:54:38
So Couts wants the clubs to reject bids from PSG! After his behaviour over the past few months the club should flog him to whoever comes up with the biggest wad of cash, and I mean cash, not spurious ‘bonus’ payments that might never be triggered. £120million and off he goes.

{Ed002's Note - it doesn’t work like that and if Liverpool screw around everyone might welcome bids from other interested parties.}

1.) 11 Nov 2017 23:50:15
And don't believe what the rags say.

2.) 12 Nov 2017 00:18:16
I think it's pretty clear he only wants Barcelona so we take what we can and move on.

3.) 12 Nov 2017 01:56:31
Den82 what do you mean we take what we can? £10 million? £15 million? This isn’t a used car this is one of the best footballers in the premier league, we take what we think he is worth and nothing less.

4.) 12 Nov 2017 03:31:36
I disagree and to suggest we would be offered £10 mil is ridiculous. I would imagine it will be around 10 times that much and we will no doubt squeeze as much as is humanly possible but at the end of the day Barcelona know that he only wants them and they will only pay what they think he is worth to them.

5.) 12 Nov 2017 05:29:31
Well if we are talking about being ridiculous maybe you shouldn’t suggest we should ‘take what we can’ for a player that we valued at over £120 million. Do we just give in and let Coutinho hold us to ransom because he only wants to join one club? If Liverpool is bigger than any player surely we can’t allow Coutinho to bully us into getting his way on his terms. We should sell him but only for an amount that the club deem acceptable.

6.) 12 Nov 2017 06:46:59
I thought Coutinho wan to play w Neymar. Now Neymar is in PSG coutinho should go there. May the Sheikh offer Liverpool 150mil pound! Get the $ and we dump it on GK, 1 CB and 1 striker. Off load the deadwood.

7.) 12 Nov 2017 07:25:09
It seems unlikely FSG is going to be bullied into accepting a ridiculously low sum, and Barcelona probably aren't going to be bullied into paying over the odds for someone they know wants to leave for them.

Lets just accept what we think is a reasonable figure and allows us to replace him with similar quality and move on. I don’t think that's 150m but neither should we accept less than lukaku or Pogba so around 100m would me more than enough IMO considering few players go for over 70m.

8.) 12 Nov 2017 08:37:22
Obviously the player will get what he wants, in his move to Barcelona but FSG has to make sure we get every penny we want from Barca. Nothing less will be acceptable and no pathetic player exchange either, unless they give us Messi 😂.

9.) 12 Nov 2017 08:56:04
Relaxlabrudder - Why should we buy a keeper with the money when Karius and Ward haven't had their time to prove themselves? we don't need a keeper we need to drop Mignolet that's all, buying another keeper would be forcing Ward and/ or Karius straight out the door without their chance, that'd make us look absolutely wonderful wouldn't it. We don't need a striker either. Yes we do need a CB and possible a Couts replacement in Jan/ Summer. But that's as far as it goes.

10.) 12 Nov 2017 09:56:57
Of course we need a keeper. Klopp doesn't want to play Karius or Ward in the premier league. If he did then they would be playing it's as simple as that. It's not to protect Karius as Mignolet gets pelters every week. How important is a keeper to a team that wants to challenge. Well look at De Gea, Courtouis, Cech and Lloris, they are all top class keepers or better and are easily in the top 10 keepers in the world. City had Bravo in net last season and they were a shambles. Look at them now this season after replacing him. As much as I would like Ward and Karius to work it they are nowhere near the standard of the 4 named above. The less said on Mignolet the better.

11.) 12 Nov 2017 10:40:32
Jayden I understand what your saying but you say 'As much as I would like Ward and Karius to work it they are nowhere near the standard of the 4 named above. ' How would we know that since they've been give no chance? they need to be thrown in mate before we can say thing's like 'they are nowhere near the standard of the 4 named above'

12.) 12 Nov 2017 10:49:17
Corleone because If they were the standard of the keepers named above they would have given Klopp no other choice but to play them and as he's not playing them there would be managers beating down our doors to sign them. This is not me saying their bad keepers but saying they are nowhere near the level of the 4 and I'd bet my mortgage on that.

13.) 12 Nov 2017 09:56:11
What you mean by"screw around"Ed?

{Ed002's Note - If they have financial expectations beyond what Barcelona will pay.}

14.) 12 Nov 2017 11:58:17
Why would he ask the club to reject a bid from PSG? even if the club accepted a bid it doesn't mean that he has to go there.

15.) 12 Nov 2017 13:48:47
I like Coutinho but Im at the point where I think its over he just needs to go i agree the club should get the best deal they can for him but come 1st Feb. he should be a Barcelona player or whoever i just don't care now a good solid offer, I don't ind addons as long as they aren't stupid like ballon dor and that

adeus e obrigado pelas lembranças e a melhor sorte no futuro.

16.) 12 Nov 2017 12:49:25
Ok thank you.

17.) 12 Nov 2017 12:56:42
"Take what we can? "and "screw around? ". if it was us wanting to buy a player Ed002 would be saying we should pay whatever the asking price is and all the moaners would be saying we should just hurry up and pay the asking price. ala Salah this summer.

{Ed002's Note - I rather doubt you would find me saying such things. Barcelona will make a low offer including another player - time will quickly come where they turn to someone else on their list.}

18.) 12 Nov 2017 16:41:20
I’d hope the club turned down Barca’s lowball offer, there isn’t a player on their release list that would improve our starting 11. End of story.

19.) 13 Nov 2017 06:34:36
Barcelona didn’t just take what they can when they sold Neymar. If they can’t afford the asking price then walk away. If I walk into a car Showroom selling Austin Martin’s would they just take what they can purely because I want the vehicle but can’t affford it?

We’ve seen the TV deals inflate the price of players over the last few years, you just need to look at average players cost £40m

The clubs are happy to take the money.

20.) 13 Nov 2017 08:05:08
Dennis, i like your sentiments. However the third best player in the world, Luis Suarez, is on their outs list!

Pretty sure he improves any team in world football. If he hadn't acted how he did before, we'd be mad to reject him. With his behaviour considered though, even his world class talents don't seem like enough to offset the embarassment he brings!

21.) 12 Nov 2017 22:02:09
Ed I take it the player is likely Rafinha?

{Ed002's Note - They are talking to another side about Rafinha, Andre Gomes is more likely initially.}

22.) 15 Nov 2017 06:36:07
The problem is you can't tell with this story if it is just the media making stuff up to have something to write, player/ family/ agent to be self serving tools or Barcelona leaking it to get what they want. After previous events all 3 are equally possible. As someone said why does he need to say don't entertain offers and why does it need to be public.

Fantastic win today; the kids were absolutely excellent. But here’s a plea. I hope the club will do their best not to end up with the guys winning the Prem while the women get relegated - that would be very unfortunate to say the least. I don’t know what the answer is but it looks like they need some help.

1.) 05 Jan 2020 21:49:03
I really hope Ancelotti can turn things around at Everton. I really like Ancelotti. He needs time though. Lots of things he need to change especially the players.

I'm not from Liverpool, so I can't say that I understand the rivalry that much. I actually think it would be great to have more than one great club in one city, much like Manchester and London.

2.) 05 Jan 2020 22:07:45
Harvey elliot let's his hair down?

3.) 06 Jan 2020 10:57:14
ND, maybe salah and mane can identify as female for a couple of weeks to get the ladies going.

23 Dec 2019 17:35:01
As if being as bent as a nine bob note wasn’t bad enough, it seems FIFA stopped the team going to their fans after the game on Saturday. What on earth is it with these people? They might be great at lining the coffers and stopping people advertising ‘World Cup Breakfasts”, but they don’t understand football that’s for sure.

1.) 23 Dec 2019 19:35:19
ND, FIFA only understands those dollar bills, now. Organizing football matches and comps. is just a means to making it. The peasants I mean, fans? They can kick rocks and keep it moving.

2.) 23 Dec 2019 21:44:53
I was at the game and I know the team went all over to greet the fans in all corners, not sure what you on about?

3.) 23 Dec 2019 22:35:18
I think I'm getting a dog for Christmas. I want a bitch and am thinking of calling her Bobby. I want to use a Liverpool name. Any suggestions guys?

4.) 24 Dec 2019 08:15:29
Lets be honest, our golie has a girlie name!

10 Sep 2019 13:51:11
Wonder if we could get back to football and our beloved Reds?

Anyone notice Wini scored again last night? Good effort by Babel as well.

1.) 10 Sep 2019 17:53:36
I did ND. Also another AWAY goal. He must be possessed.

2.) 10 Sep 2019 19:52:34
There's a reason why Ed01 said that Gini was much more highly rated than Messi in their youth. There is near NO position I midfield or even attack that Gini can't play. He has the lot.

3.) 10 Sep 2019 22:48:07
Gini - possibly our most underrated player. Absolutely love him. If he seems to be having a quiet game you can be sure 2 opposition players are also being kept quiet. But unlike many midfielders who break up play, when he gets forward you always feel like something can happen.

4.) 10 Sep 2019 22:48:44
To add, he's as important to the team as hendo or milner. Massive player.

23 Jun 2019 21:45:59
Im sure his quote was, shall we say massaged, by I wouldnt mind Eto'o minding his own business. La Liga best in the world? Guess thats why they supplied all the teams in the two recent Euro finals eh?

1.) 23 Jun 2019 23:04:46
He's entitled to his opinion! Even if I don't agree with him.

{Ed002's Note - When he left Chelsea, he left behind numerous (dozens) of mobile/cell phones.}

2.) 23 Jun 2019 23:31:58
{Ed002's Note - When he left Chelsea, he left behind numerous (dozens) of mobile/ cell phones. }

One for each girlfriend Ed .

3.) 24 Jun 2019 00:14:28
salah will end up in spain, weather we like it or not, these days the players themselves decide where they will go and us supporters have to lump it.
As long as we get a good price for him and keep Mane@ firmino I shall be happy, let's face facts MO wants to go and its just a question of when, both parties have done well with the salah deal, he has proven to be a sucsess with one of the highest profile clubs on the planet, a European champion, double golden boot winner, now he wants to cash in on that while he can, its not the choice I would have made but I am totally biased when it comes to Liverpool fc.

4.) 24 Jun 2019 06:54:35
Would you have an issue with Stevie G coming out and publically stating that x player should join Liverpool because epl is the best league in the world? I doubt it.

Like the other poster said, its his opinion and hes well entitled to it.

{Ed001's Note - didn't he just say Salah should join Barca rather than Madrid as they are better suited to his style of play?}

5.) 24 Jun 2019 07:42:19
that's exactly what he said Ed001. At the end of the day if a player does not share klopp's vision as he is not fully committed to the Liverpool project, then we have to let him go, its a simple as that. Klopp has done a brilliant job in putting together this squad and the last thing he or the team needs is someone with half a eye on the exit door.
I fully expect this to be his last season with us but I would be delighted to be proved wrong.

6.) 24 Jun 2019 09:05:58
And added that laliga is the best league in the world ed.

{Ed001's Note - who cares? Eto'o's opinion is not shared by most of the world but it is an opinion, so he is entitled to it, no matter how ridiculous is may seem.}

7.) 24 Jun 2019 09:50:21
Some people still live their past glories and their opinions reflect that . He said Salah but he probably meant Mido.

8.) 24 Jun 2019 09:26:13
ed002 can you see any of the big 2 from spain going for mo. I can't see madrid going for him now they have hazard for one wing am sure its no secret that madrid want mbappe for the right. Who I think they see as the true heir to Ronaldo's crown. So that leaves Barcelona and does Messi not play there? . I think if he leaves us it will be for Juventus or for the money at Psg. Your thoughts eds002.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained the situation on many occasions about Salah wanting to play for Real Madrid and several approaches being made to Real Madrid, Barcelona and discussions with Juventus and even PSG. You should have noticed that thet the new PR company involved has had him attempting to raise his profile in recent months being well groomed and giving pre-arranged interviews where he talks of equal rights for women and what a caring soul he his - and he has recently taken a holiday with someone from the PR firm and a professional photographer. All of this is to try and get in to Real Madrid as their next "poster boy" - a role not replaced since Ronaldo left. In terms of interest - they were laughed out of Real Madrid with financial demands and his special "contract clause". His representative went back with lesser demands but Real Madrid are not hanging around waiting for him, and they have identified the person they want to take that role as part of their rebuild and will wait until next summer to make their move. Barcelona is a different situation and although thrown out initially for the financial and "clause" demands, they are in the market for refresh in his position - but could wait until next summer to deal with other priorities first.}

9.) 24 Jun 2019 10:56:14
Lets not forget that every summer our top players are linked with madrid/ Barcelona. It doesn't always happen but worryingly it quite often does.

But now we are European champions, one of the best teams on the planet, we are in our prime. We have arguably the best manager in the game and definitely, imo, the best for our team.
We have world class players or top, top class in all parts of the pitch, D Mf F.
I think anyone who has a genuine chance of starting every game would be mad to move on atm. (at the mo! Lol)
At the same time, although coutinio was a great player, we became better when he left, i don't want players who don't want to be here. I was gutted when couts left, we all were pretty much, but with salah its a little different. When he first signed, people itk were saying liverpool are a stepping stone for salah. So we've always had it in our minds that he isn't going to be here forever.
It could all be paper talk, you'd think that going to a big club, breaking records held by fowler, rush and players of that class, playing in 2 ucl finals and winning one, challenging for the title, you'd think he would want to stay for good.
And if i were salah id be looking at coutinio, mo doesn't strike me as a big ego player and imo that is why couts has struggled at barca. Hand on heart i think liverpool are the perfect club for him. I think he'd be great for spurs too, the way they play. And i agree that he would suit barcelona's style more than reals.

10.) 24 Jun 2019 11:30:59
Mo doesn't strike you as a big ego player?

Also which of our midfield are world class, or top top class I can't think of any. Our midfield are good players and very hard working and committed but not top class. Bernardo Silva is also very hard working but is far superior on the ball. Fabinho is probably our best at the moment and can't even get in an average Brazil squad. Gini was our best over the season and he is no where near top class.

If you asked fans from other teams to rate our team they would say top quality defence and forwards. No one would say top quality midfield.

11.) 24 Jun 2019 12:05:52
who cares what other fans think. we have a champions league winning midfield that has many different qualities. The fact Fabinho cannot get into the brazil side says more about there selection policy than anything to do with Fabinho's undoubted quality.

12.) 24 Jun 2019 12:43:33
Kenny it keeps things in perspective instead of the red tinted specs all the time. Yes I agree many different qualities and make for a quality team effort but as individuals none of our midfield can be classed as top class. I thought Keita would be and still hope he will get to the level of the players below next season.

These are some top class midfield players
B Silva
D Silva probably not now but definitely was.

13.) 24 Jun 2019 13:26:09
we don't need inviduals mark because football is a TEAM game. I don't have red tinted glasses either and I actually agree with your list, Kante for instance can only thrive with the help of his team mates which is why the season just gone was not his best, would you have classed Ronnie Whelan as a top class midfielder back in the day? however just remember his contribution to the side that regularly won titles.
This current crop of midfielders "top class" or not has helped Liverpool finish with a record amount of pl points and bought old big ears home for a 6th time, so yes I am going to defend them, also we missed AOC for the whole season and who knows what he could have contributed given the chance.
I think personally I am going to trust klopp as far as our midfield is concerned.

14.) 24 Jun 2019 13:57:21
Sorry guys, but that's ridiculous. We don't have any top class midfielders?

The team that has won the champions league. Here are a list of our top class midfieders imo

Milner (won everything in the game)
Henderson (works his socks off in whatever position he is asked to play in, including rb)
Fabhino (arguably the best dcm in the league, i wouldn't swap him for fernandinio. I think by the end of next season he will be a brazil starter and considered one of the best dcms in the game)
Wjinaldum (brilliant season, scored 2 of the biggest goals in our legendary history, works his socks off, keeps the ball well under extreme pressure and rarely gives the ball away. Technically brilliant)
Keita (had a slow start to his liverpool career. I suspect the language barrier and his niggling injuries hampered him. But by the end of the season and before his injury he was brilliant. Scored big goals, put the fear of death into defences. I think in the next 3/ 4 years he will be a world class mf.

These players toppled the mighty bayern munich (with ease if we're honest)
These players BATTERED Barcelona, supposedly the best team in the world.

So tell me how they aren't top class. We lost one game all season. Every forward got double figures. Again.

To suggest that they are just very good industrious players is off the mark. You could make that claim if we had finished 4th again, if we went out in the 1/ 4s or semis of the ucl. But these boys lost one game all season, missed out on the league by 2 points. Miles ahead of the rest of the pack.

We have top top players in our midfield.

Oh, The Ox is also a top top class midfielder. They may not have the grace and creativity of bernard silve or kdb but that's not the only type of top class midfielder.

We have a wc gk, wc defencive unit. Wc forward line. Okay our midfield might not be world class, but they are top top class.

15.) 24 Jun 2019 14:14:13
I agree with you 100% Robbiesline, as I said in my post we missed the OX for a full season, our midfield works perfectly for the system the manager employs.

16.) 24 Jun 2019 15:47:16
You are always very enthusiastic Robbie and put your case forward well. As you would expect though I completely disagree. this is not mean't to be negative (there is nothing to complain about) this is just about could the midfield be better.

We have a great Keeper/ defence the best in Europe.
Our 2 wide forwards were both the top scorers in the league better than City's probably as a pair best in the world. So logic says why did we lose the league? Because our midfield is below City's midfield and by quite a distance. As I said Gini was our best midfielder but he doesn't get in City's 11, neither does Hendo, Milner, Keita, or the OX. In fact we struggle to get any midfielder in a combined 11.

Hopefully that will change by the end of the season OX will be back to his best, Fabs plays a full season and is better than their holding midfielder. Keita really kicks on and reaches the top level. Of course I trust Klopp and it could well be our defence and wide forwards are so good that the midfield only has to improve a small amount for us to win the league.

Check out God going to Brisbane Roar on a two year contract as head coach. Wishing him the very best of luck. Great to see him still finding the net for the Legends.
