Hey ed001, hope you're well mate
Question about Gerrard's Chelsea backflip in 2005 - how much truth is there to the rumour that a Liverpool gang forced him to stay?
I wouldn't doubt that Scouse gangsters were unhappy about it, but it's always felt like a grain of truth blown out of proportion by rival fans to prove he wasn't loyal.
{Ed001's Note - it was a personal decision, so only he really knows what made him make that choice. He was, and still is, very friendly with a fair few from that side of the tracks, so to speak, so I doubt he would have to worry too much about threats.}
1.) 01 Jun 2025 09:58:39
Thanks Ed, I agree.
2.) 01 Jun 2025 09:59:58
I remember when we won the UCL and when asked about the move after the final whistle in pure exctasy he said something like "that's something we will have to think about now. " Back then I thought it would've meant so much winning a huge trophy with liverpool that made him want to stay.
But, I alo thought winning the league would have so. ilar impact on Trent! ??♂️.
3.) 01 Jun 2025 10:20:35
Its well known that a family relative he is close to, is deep in that world. 1 of his daughters is also in a relationship with some Irish linked heavies.
The rumour is true, it was the same fella that left the grenade on some other footballers wall in Formby. Whether or not it had any bearing on his decision is another thing tho.
4.) 01 Jun 2025 10:47:18
Gerrard wanted to stay, but the dealy in offering him new improved contract made him think about chelsea. I think 30m was touted as transfer fees.
5.) 01 Jun 2025 12:08:42
I agree with all the above, I won't refute that someone tried to 'intervene', but Gerrard would've had lots of protection and I doubt the threat would have been followed through.
None of it surprises me, some of the company Gerrard has with him on sociL media seem a little sketchy ?.
27 May 2025 08:32:39
Society has just gone rogue hasn't it.
25 May 2025 18:35:10
Ok Trent I forgive you.
1.) 25 May 2025 18:44:03
I thought the booing was going too far, you can see it's tough decision for him here today.
He almost looks a little lost, probably scary taking a leap of faith moving to another club after 20 years.
Hopefully it works out for him, he gave me and many others some great memories.
2.) 25 May 2025 18:44:34
I dont.
3.) 25 May 2025 18:48:17
I don't. Kissing the bag after running your contract down to leave is beyond hilarious.
4.) 25 May 2025 18:51:07
I think after 20 years service he is entitled to a badge kiss.
5.) 25 May 2025 18:52:06
To be fair doesn't look like Virg forgives him ?.
6.) 25 May 2025 18:56:40
I never had any issue with him leaving. It isn't ideal that he is moving for free, but I feel this is way football is moving and will become a lot more common. He gave 20 years of his life to the club and helped us win everything. We should all be grateful for that and we should wish him well, he moves on to the next stage in his life and we move on as a club. I never begrudge anyone for doing what they think is best for themselves, we all have a right to make our own decisions.
7.) 25 May 2025 18:57:55
I don’t think it was going too far. It was fair comment. Kissing the badge, the hand signal he gave the fans which was as disrespectful as it gets, the fact he wasn’t man enough to tell the club he had no intention of renewing when there was an offer on the table to sell him, the “summer of 66” fallout with his cousin making frankly appalling comments about poverty and acquiescence a Hillsborough trope both of which were liked by his rat of a brother. Excuse me while I don’t buy into this pathetic love in. F that guy and good riddance. Hope it goes badly.
8.) 25 May 2025 19:06:12
He reminds me of one of those boxers who got rinsed by their agent.
9.) 25 May 2025 19:06:41
Trent you were a great servant, some amazing passing, assists, goals but generally poor defensively, good luck, I hope to god we beat Real Madrid with you in there team.
Adios Senor, you sold your soul kid!
10.) 25 May 2025 19:07:50
Dean listen mate, i don't believe you can have family as agents with a lot financially to gain. Trent loves the club but I truly hope sporting wise real Madrid is a disaster. Horrible club.
11.) 25 May 2025 19:24:51
You can pick your friends … as the saying goes.
12.) 25 May 2025 21:59:18
What is all this running your contract down nonsense?
He did what he signed to do, and more. Two PLs and a CL, not to mention the other stuff. He was the best player on the pitch in the second half today.
It's been a pleasure to watch him play for us and some of you need to get your egos in check.

So what's everyone's thoughts on the continued delay with the 115 case?
The hearing wrapped up ages ago, and we were supposed to be expecting an outcome from the tribunal a couple months ago already.
If this was a slam dunk case shut win for a City then I think it would have been done with already. Yet as far as we can only speculate, the tribunal either continues to deliberate on the findings, or, the findings have been disclosed to each legal team in confidence, and City's team are using every legal mechanism possible to stall the news being made public.
If City know or reasonably expect a positive outcome, then I can't imagine a world where they wouldn't be dropping hints to the press. The case is doing them reputational damage, and if innocent, they won't want this hanging over their heads for any second more than necessary. And I believe the PL would just swallow the bitter pill and carry on with life like UEFA did.
If both parties are still in the dark then they must still be deliberating. It the tribunal agree with City then I feel like there'd be a lot less to deliberate on, as the PL had the burden of proof and it didn't meet the standard of proof. Thank you, good bye. If City are guilty, the ramifications are huge and they want to be sure of their decision.
@ed001 sorry I didn't post this on the City forum because I didn't want to antagonise any City fans.
1.) 24 May 2025 07:25:38
Citeh will probably just buy their way out of it…. ironic hey.
2.) 24 May 2025 07:56:22
They are being successful in buying apathy through delay.
3.) 24 May 2025 08:38:58
If it’s a points deduction then it could potentially change the way other teams play mid way through the season therefore affecting other teams that had already played city, if they’d have announced it months ago
Think they are waiting til the end of the season to announce a points deduction and potential drop into the championship when all games have been played
Just guessing however.
4.) 24 May 2025 08:49:37
I can imagine City’s owners will be fuming that the people they employed have gotten them into this mess over the years.
Heard that Leicester are now pushing for their PSR rule break to be dealt with this season so it’ll see them go bottom and lose 6 mill in league money but won’t effect next season.
The rules are quite crazy and I’ll be honest I loved Ed001’s idea the other day of owners matching any breaches with a separate pot of money.
Would seem to be the only way to make things fairer but at the same time it would allow the state owned clubs free will to spend.
But under current rules the majority can’t even try to compete in transfer windows.
5.) 24 May 2025 09:54:51
They’re probably negotiating a settlement.
22 May 2025 09:12:03
I don't mean to pile on him but we really dodged a bullet with Amorim. What a sliding doors moment to go with Slot.
1.) 22 May 2025 09:39:17
They smoked him out long before there was any danger of actually hiring him.
Slot was always the numero uno.
2.) 22 May 2025 09:41:46
Hughes and Edwards certainly pulled that one out of the bag by opting for Slot.
In Amorim's defence, he did say to United he didn't want to come mid-season as his system needed a pre-season and transfers to set it up properly. I believe Ashworth was also dismissed because he didn't think Amorim was the right choice at that point in time. The club is a mess and Jim Ratcliffe has only compounded the mess that came before him.
I count my lucky stars we're such a well run club when I see what's going on at clubs like Man United and Chelsea.
3.) 22 May 2025 09:47:56
He has been awful. Very surprised there are so many united fans still have his back after last night.
4.) 22 May 2025 10:20:56
Job was always way too big for him without a really strong sporting director.
I suspect he'll bow out this summer. The environment is just too toxic to stay as United fans and the business model come to terms with a period in the wilderness.
And I am enjoying every moment of it.
5.) 22 May 2025 10:25:07
Is it Amorim's fault, though? I've honestly not paid any attention to United this season.
6.) 22 May 2025 10:38:12
He’s paying the price for not being tactically pragmatic and only have a very rigid myopic tactical view. He didn’t have the players for his set up but enforced it anyway. Was only likely to end in tears.
7.) 22 May 2025 11:33:23
Honestly, i think Amorim is the least of their worries, and if what MKS says is true then i don't think 16th is too much of a problem either. I would even go as far as to say it is a better result for United to not have to play in Europe next year.
Essentially, Amorim came in and played his system, showing the higher ups how he intends to play and exactly where the team needs investment. They didn't get relegated, don't have the burden of Europe, and i think it will be better for them to invest in players that aren't strictly coming for a paycheck or european nights. It forces them to actually build something rather than trying to brute force and buy their way back to the top like they have been trying to do since Fergie left.
8.) 22 May 2025 11:39:23
Doesn't matter, VV. That squad will kill any manager's career. Been saying it, that squad is a coach killer and with that true piece of work named Bruno as capt., you're really asking to fail.
Amorim went there and was in over his head about how he could change a squad that had gotten managers before him sacked. That's on him and his over-blown ego.
9.) 22 May 2025 11:44:46
He’s a big part of the problem but the rot had already set in.
Needs an overhaul to turn that tanker round, not just a decent manager.
The probably should have tried to keep Ragnick as a consultant. He knows how to run a cub.
10.) 22 May 2025 11:53:59
Blown off their perch like a lead balloon.
Manu are run like a tuck shop.
11.) 22 May 2025 11:58:43
Tbh Viktor, you could be describing Ange at Spurs too and that description wouldn't have been amiss. Only difference is that they won the final.
12.) 22 May 2025 14:18:52
True Dracred, but Spurs now have champions league money and United don’t, not being in that is crippling for them as a club, they might be able to take a hit for one season, but two? They also lose £10m from adidas as well for not being in the champions league. Given they were on the edge of getting a points deduction for PSR this season, I reckon they might get one next season which I’m sure we can all agree, will be hilarious.
13.) 22 May 2025 14:26:22
Drac, Ange set his entire team up to sit behind the ball once they went up in the 19th minute from a united mistake. They had 0 shots on or off target in the second half and had less than 30% possession.
I think the suggestion that amorim hasn't tried to change things to get results is a bit overblown. He actually has tried tinkering with different things but if people expect him to start playing four at the back, he's quite certainly not going to do that. He was hired to play this system, it's on the higher ups who hired him rather than on amorim for any supposed tactical rigidity. His style needs pace on the wings, an athletic and mobile pivot, two 10s who run non stop and a selfless killer in the box. United have none of these, though in diallo and dorgu he does at least have two functional wingbacks.
I also don't think it's fair that you bash Bruno, Oli, he is by far their best player and as much as we hate him for being a rubbishhouse and a diver and everything else, he has actually put in a ton of effort on and off the ball for them this year, amorim was basically playing him as a 6 for parts of this year. I dislike him very much as a player but he is certainly not a bad apple for them. It would probably be in their best interests to see if they can get money for him, maybe from Saudi, because they are just too reliant on him for everything they do.
14.) 22 May 2025 15:10:45
Spot on, Johnny_Bellwhiff. Absolute dumpster fire of a club. Long may it continue.
15.) 22 May 2025 15:54:49
Yeah, that was surprising from Ange. I'm still reminded of the game they had against Chelsea where they went down to 9 men (I think) and still tried to play a high line. I think no one saw it coming that Spurs would play defensive yesterday but it did work for them.
Amorim changed the personnel but the game plan was essentially the same each game actually. It was mainly just trying out which players suits his system best instead of changing the system to fit the players. I still think he would stay until at least the beginning of next season though, to get the existent players familiar with his system and to get new players who would already be. But if results don't improve, I can see him being dismissed after the first 10 games. Tbh, he does seem to be begging to be let go after his comments about not needing compensation so it could also mean that he has realised that Utd are a bigger rubbishshow than he initially realised and wants out ASAP.

Imagine having to apologise for posting a rumour on a rumour website. Some of you really need to manage your expectations.
04 Jun 2025 11:59:10
Martinez would be a perfect false 9.
03 Jun 2025 13:18:00
007 reminds me of the Wrexham bootlegger.
03 Jun 2025 09:48:13
Due to superstition I refuse to watch highlight reels until we sign him.
02 Jun 2025 01:37:54
Gordon potentially couldn't be any worse for us than Sterling was for City. Not a perfect option but effective with the right coaching and system.
10 Jun 2025 23:30:46
We should still sing it anyway.
07 Jun 2025 00:19:16
I'm expecting an Italian Renaissance from Federico.
07 Jun 2025 00:15:05
Gakpo seems really sound too, the club just released a video of him surprising fans at their home. Their dad unfortunately had a fatal heart attack at Anfield quite a few years ago and the eldest son had to take care of the family when he was 13. The two younger brothers come home from school, and there's this Liverpool player waiting for them in the kitchen, it was so amazing.
06 Jun 2025 12:56:33
WDW put the violin away and get off your high horse, you're not the saint you tediously project yourself to be.
06 Jun 2025 04:40:08
I doubt they'll be defined by what happens with Konate, there's plenty of other business to judge them by.
