Good evening eds and fellow Reds I hope I find you all well.

Just a quick question if anyone actually knows, what is the situation with Thiago its a mystery to me, I did try the search engine but nothing concrete or conclusive that I could find. Great player but always injured and on extremely high wages, is there a possibility that he might go in January if he finally gets fit and then we can look to get a decent No 6 in.

Cheers in advance.

{Ed002's Note - Thiago Alcantara (CM) His representatives have spoken to Barcelona about the player finishing his career back at the club but he would need to be very cheap and to have reduced wages. Seems unlikely.}

1.) 28 Oct 2023 12:33:25
Great player at the right club but has never been a great fit for this club and how we play IMO. His injury record didn't seem overly troublesome when we bought him but it's gotten massively worse since. I don't see how he gets back into the team even when fully fit - time for him to go TBH.

2.) 28 Oct 2023 19:16:34
I have to put my hands up and admit, the fans were right. Thiago is a much better influence behind the scenes than on the pitch, and his 200k a week, is in service to that. The fact he was injured in April, and is still missing, has allowed him to hone his craft as the mentor he was always supposed to be.

You can just see the influence he has had on Stefan Bajcetic. The youngster has learned the ways of the injury prone. Always good to seasoned veterans passing on what they have learned :P.

3.) 28 Oct 2023 20:08:38
How is Bajetic injury prone?

4.) 28 Oct 2023 20:53:21
I don’t like criticising players for being injured as I’m sure they’d rather play than be in the treatment room.

The one thing I’d say about Thiago though is as good a player as he is he makes us a worse team when he plays. People try to tell me he’s our best midfielder and on talent alone he may well be. The problem is he’s too slow and wants too much time on the ball so he puts us under pressure.

He’s an experiment that just hasn’t worked.

5.) 28 Oct 2023 21:46:25
And yet we play MacAllister who may well be even slower, can’t tackle as well, certainly not as technically good and loses possession more often than not.

6.) 29 Oct 2023 03:31:54
Thiago was part of the team that nearly took us to the quadruple. I wouldn't be so quick to criticise his overall tenure, but it is fair to say that there are others who will start before him now.

7.) 29 Oct 2023 07:47:35
Pearl jam, you may want to check how many of the games he played in that season. He missed 24 of the 63 we played.

Evening all

Just a quick question for the Eds, with 3 weeks left in the transfer window and what's looking like a failed British record bid for a player, knowing that serious money is available for the right player do you see Liverpool going back in for Lavia and possibly a LCB or do you think we will try to move onto another DM target altogether. Surly if Caicedo was of real interest we should have been working way before yesterday to try and get him in, the chaps heart is set on Chelsea so I for one hope we just move on from this quickly. He was always a bit flakey so maybe personality wise not a good fit for us. I guess we'll never know but let's hope we can move on and get a proper DM and LCB in in the coming weeks.

Cheers

{Ed002's Note - Yes Liverpool will look to a DM, probably another MF player and perhaps a CB.}

1.) 11 Aug 2023 19:12:48
I still like the idea of a DM, move Trent to MF and get a RB - also a CB would also be great if possible.
Not asking Ed’s (especially Ed002 who has probably had enough today understandably) for anything on this be assured.
Also not sure who is viable for these positions other than the obvious, Lavia, Pavard etc.
Just something I think could work ?.

2.) 11 Aug 2023 22:16:08
I personally don’t like Trent in midfield… I guess fine if we are dominating play, but will get found out against the big boys (I could be wrong) . I think we need two DMs, but I’m not even sure what viable options are left., who can get us back in the top 4.

30 Jun 2023 18:55:00
Sly sports saying we have agreed to pay the 60 million buy out clause before midnight tonight if we get this done and get a CB in well then I'd be more than happy with our window in all fairness.

NOTSOZIPPY

1.) 30 Jun 2023 19:10:02
Shame we couldn’t make it a double announcement from Leipzig for Gvardiol as well.

All seriousness great signing for us, really looking forward to seeing him and McAllister in our new look midfield.

2.) 30 Jun 2023 19:11:08
I tend to agree, but still think the steel in the midfield is what we were lacking. From my limited knowledge, I see Mac as a ball player, creator, with szosobai also being attack minder winger/ Am. If fabinho with a good rest can rediscover his form, great, but I would like another in that role, personally.

3.) 30 Jun 2023 19:25:09
Defs need a DM. Good signing but doesn’t solve our problems. Need another CM and CB and it’s a great window. If not then I think this signing was a mistake.

4.) 30 Jun 2023 19:39:31
Can be frustrating the way we do business at times but I'm so glad we don't just splurge the cash like others. Makes it way more satisfying imo. Agreed a CB and we're set. Trim up the squad a bit and bring on the new season.

5.) 30 Jun 2023 19:47:45
Hilarious. Looks like the club has just bought 2 of the most-highly rated emerging midfielders in European football at a spend of £100m, but let’s grumble about who we haven’t yet signed. Every top club wanted these players, and I think it is to Klopp and the recruitment team’s credit that they chose us. I never thought we’d be able to get Mac Allister. People are forgetting how good he is. This is looking like a superb window, and let’s not forget about how stacked we are now in attack, with way more options than Klopp has had before. Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo - the potential is huge.

{Ed025's Note - i agree mate..

6.) 30 Jun 2023 19:51:47
Good catch by all accounts. I guess Klopp is going to play Henderson more as DM next season, and that's a good move imo. Between Baj, Fab and him the spot should be well covered.

7.) 30 Jun 2023 20:05:09
Henderson shouldn’t be as nowhere near the starting 11 kameron.

8.) 30 Jun 2023 20:17:05
All the grumbles fail to take into account how poor the output in terms of goals from midfield we were last season.

9.) 30 Jun 2023 20:27:23
Hendo isn't done yet. and he IS our captain Talking sense.

10.) 30 Jun 2023 20:44:17
Great post Magico. I’ve been supporting this team since 1982, and would put Jordan in my all-time midfield. Sounds ridiculous, but other than Mad Graeme I don’t think we have had as an inspirational captain like him. He’s like Keegan: made the most of his ability. It’s not just about the skill you are born with, it’s about character. Steve Smith possibly the ugliest batsman I have seen, but through sheer strength of character has become one of the greatest of all time. I don’t think it is any coincidence that the usually tactically dreadful England football team have looked organised when he has played. Top player, top man. He played a huge part in our incredible run of wins over the Klopp years.

{Ed025's Note - Steve Smith one of the greatest of all time?...not in the top 200 mate, plus hes a proven cheat,

11.) 30 Jun 2023 21:11:09
Henderson can't play as a Dm for us, himself and elliot were pathetic last year with how litle they offered defensively on that right hand side. Henderson isn't versatile like Milner to fill in anywhere i really don't see where he fits in going forward.

12.) 30 Jun 2023 22:04:20
How is Liverpool signing a €70m midfielder used as an opportunity to give Henderson a kicking (our captain who’s won everything with us! ) and crying about players we are yet to sign yet?

“Yeah yeah that’s great, but what about a CB and CDM?! ”

Give me strength.

13.) 30 Jun 2023 22:21:31
@Onekiss - Calling Harvey Elliot 'pathetic' should get you booted from this site mate.

The lad is twenty- he is way down the pecking order now with our new signings, he is HG and a Liverpool fan. He scored a peach at the U21s against Germany, and is never done thanking the fans for their support.

It's shaping up to be a great window for us, and Elliot and Jones will need to improve if they're going to play next year, but they'll be invaluable squad players.

Klopp and FSG are building their second great team together with sensible, young, hungry talented players. It's almost as if it was predictable.

Stop criticising the players and get behind the team. If you're nor excited now, I really feel sorry for you!

14.) 30 Jun 2023 22:26:52
@ navy I don’t reply to onekiss he tends to talk sh*te. Did you not get the memo?

15.) 30 Jun 2023 22:03:10
Ed 025 - totally agree. I think Smith dreadful, but his figures stack up, and the critics ignore the bad stuff. Phil Hughes was killed by a fast ball, but Smith still set his bowlers to make their fast ball even more dangerous - with sandpaper etc. Appalling, and dangerous: but he cried at a press conference, so it’s ok. Posters will ask is this relevant to football? It is; cheating is dangerous: it can end players’ careers, or worse.

{Ed025's Note - i dont like cheats MS, thats why i hope the likes of city get stripped of their titles mate...it should never be acceptable..

16.) 01 Jul 2023 12:51:52
Love me a bit of Smithy ED25 - and I'm South African
Life's about "timing" and I've never known a man like his timing.

But cheat he is.

{Ed025's Note - I’m not saying he’s not talented Para. Certainly better than average but will never be one of the greats mate ..

17.) 01 Jul 2023 15:40:52
I’m not calling him pathetic personally obviously, I think he’s a good young player and seems a nice lad but his defensive contribution last year was just so below standard regardless of him being 19 or 29. He was taken out of the side for a reason. Pathetic may have been harsh in hindsight so i apologise.

Shockingly fantasy football is good for updates and are saying he’s tweaked a muscle and us 75% likely to play. They are usually fairly accurate - no idea where they get their info from.

{Ed001's Note - the clubs give out info in press releases. They use that same as physioroom and a number of other sites.}

2.) 13 Jan 2023 10:10:10
Awesome, thanks ed001 - fairly reliable then?

{Ed001's Note - it really depends on the club and how honest they are over an injury. Sometimes it can be very reliable, but other times clubs are trying to cover up things so as not to tip their hand to opponents. Personally I think that clubs should be required by the league to be open about everything. Makes it much harder for corruption to occur if everything a club does has to be available to the public, particularly with regards to transfers and wages. It won't stop brown envelopes and under the counter payments to Guardiola to reduce the FFP burden on a club, but it makes it more difficult to get away with them.}

3.) 13 Jan 2023 12:45:42
Darwin isn't being 'risked' against Brighton, according to Klopp in his press conference today.

4.) 13 Jan 2023 13:00:14
Hope Klopp is brave this weekend and gives Doak a shot instead of Ox. Lad has no fear of anything and looks a proper threat running at defenders.

5.) 13 Jan 2023 13:15:15
I doubt Doak will start. It’s a can’t afford to lose game tomorrow and I’d doubt he’d throw him in to such a game. Maybe a sub appearance hopefully as I have high hopes for the kiddie.

6.) 13 Jan 2023 13:54:56
The only other “option” out wide is ox, which would be almost like handing them the game as he contributes very little.

7.) 13 Jan 2023 16:16:18
Ox doesn't get in any other team in the pl or any other division for that matter but klopp will still persist with playing him. Clueless.

8.) 13 Jan 2023 16:30:50
Could maybe start gakpo and salah up top. Elliot/ Carvalho in behind. Thiago Henderson Fabinho midfield 3. Play more narrow if we don’t have the players available that are comfortable out wide. Haven’t seen much of Doak to be honest so couldn’t really give an opinion on him. The other youngsters who have been given their chance get slated so not sure whether it’s the right time to chance another too early and knock his confidence too.

9.) 13 Jan 2023 16:52:08
Didn't Ox score in the last game he started? ?.

10.) 13 Jan 2023 17:09:28
He did MK. Didn’t get much praise for that tho. I’d rather see him back in the midfield tho. At least he has a bit more pace about him and can score a goal.

11.) 13 Jan 2023 18:54:39
Ox is a stalwart.

12.) 13 Jan 2023 21:42:32
Never mind using seasoned professionals who know the game - put a 17 year old in from the start in a midfield that our expert analysts have been slagging off all season - with a bit of luck we can slaughter the 17 year old at the end of the match. - happy days.

Evening all hope everyone is well.

Look I know we will be linked with everyone during and after this world Cup but has anyone being watching the young Crotian centre half Gvardiol only 20 big unit, strong, fast and composed on the ball has the makings of a great player and possibly a replacement for Maltip or hate to say VVD (in a few years) . I know we are in need of midfield reinforcements but I feel this lad is definitely worth taking a look at be interested to know Ed2 insight into the player.

Cheers

{Ed002's Note - Chelsea and Spurs are interested.}

1.) 01 Dec 2022 17:01:49
Well just going on the last 100 mins against Belgium we should be trying to see if we can turn Leipzigs head with a solid offer this lad is going to be absolute class if he was English and just put in that performance you'd be hearing nothing but he's going to be the best centre half in the world so personally I think we should be looking at him seriously as his value is just going to soar and soar.

{Ed001's Note - I did say a while ago in the news review and podcast that I think he should have been the winner of the Golden Boy award.}

2.) 01 Dec 2022 17:03:50
Ed01 mentioned him a while back, always impressive when I’ve seen him.

3.) 01 Dec 2022 17:02:53
Cheers Ed2 hopefully we'll get the finger out this lad has the potential to be top class for many a year.

4.) 01 Dec 2022 17:14:45
Cheers Ed2 and fair play Ed1 I've watched Croatia in their 3 games and he has been solid especially today he was immense maybe Dejan can have a word in his ear if we decide to show any interest ?.

5.) 01 Dec 2022 17:24:32
A superb performance he stayed nice and calm when his goalkeeper had a mad 5 minute spell in the 2nd half, very impressive indeed.

6.) 01 Dec 2022 17:28:33
He is actually on record as saying him and his dad are Liverpool fans. I don’t think Lovren would have to work too hard to persuade him.

7.) 01 Dec 2022 17:40:03
RB Leipzig defender Josko Gvardiol has talked up a future move to Liverpool.

The Croatia international is a target for Europe's biggest clubs.

But he admits he has long dreamed of a move to Anfield: “From a young age, I watched Liverpool games with my dad and I grew up with just them.

“When I took football more seriously, I started following them, and I definitely want the Premier League and Liverpool move one day. "

8.) 01 Dec 2022 18:46:14
Yet Lukaku could, and should to be honest, have scored 4 in 45 minutes. Different conversation then.

9.) 01 Dec 2022 20:15:51
Oh mane mane the kid can't be everywhere true Lakaku should have had 3 or 4 but he didn't and the young lad cut out a certain tap in and was immense troughtout the whole game had to be MOTM contender.

10.) 02 Dec 2022 00:05:22
Unless Matip and Phillips or even Gomez move on, don't see us going for him. The priority will be for midfield. But he is a cracking player.

He is a Liverpool fan too. Sad he is going to other club. Probably Chelsea. Could have been great future partner for Konate.

11.) 02 Dec 2022 05:42:44
Perhaps Quansah will make a good partner for Ibou and won’t cost millions.

12.) 02 Dec 2022 09:01:43
The odds aren’t in Quansah’s favour, West Derby.

13.) 02 Dec 2022 09:26:27
Quansah and Van Den Berg both have a chance over the next couple of years. In Quansahs case if other clubs had a starting England centrehalf on a Euro's winning side coming through they'd be a lot more excited than L'Pool fans, suppose we love a shiny new signing instead?.

14.) 02 Dec 2022 15:43:43
There are more Andre Wisdom’s out there than Jamie Carragher’s. The odds are not in club developed players favour. That it’s just a harsh reality.

As it is, Gvardiol is very far ahead of both of those two and is only a year older than Quansah but a bit younger than van den Berg.

15.) 04 Dec 2022 21:27:57
Quansah has had injuries issues that have held him back. that's not to say he is going to go onto be a world beater - VVVV is sadly right about how many academy players make it.

16.) 05 Dec 2022 01:18:28
it's not like we're desperate for someone like gvariol.

1.) 02 Mar 2024 17:51:00
Love our team but its time for darwizzy szobo endo big virg robbo macca mo gakpo to put in big performance in half and remove as many as possible against Prague.

2.) 02 Mar 2024 17:56:07
Not arsed about the perf. personally, cos I was dreading this game (along with the Brentford game) cos I knew or anticipated that we would struggle esp. since we did not have the amount of injuries we had now, back then when my trepidation kicked in. even tho we battered Brentford a lot easier, we struggled massively today and I was not surprised at all.

Now with the way our injuries are, I could not give a toss about how we won or whether we played well or not. It is all about getting over the line right now till we get healthier and our boyto a man, did it cos they never gave up, played till the final whistle and that is all I can ask for. On to Sparta Prague in the EL. And.

3.) 02 Mar 2024 18:31:28
Field the kids on Thursday and let the Anfield crowd be their 12th man and then go as full strength as possible with whoever is fit for City on Sunday.

We’ve got Sparta Prague again in the 2nd leg to win that tie.

I think asking some of the players to go on thu and then again on Sunday with 2 days recovery against City might be a tough ask.

4.) 02 Mar 2024 19:34:28
Tough decision for Thursday. The big players need minutes in their legs but at the same time it's the game before city. But these are the types of decisions that are luxuries, I'm glad I'm not one making them.

5.) 03 Mar 2024 02:06:38
I think Dom, Darwin, Endo and, if fit, maybe Ryan G and Mo, need at least 30 minutes on the pitch on Thursday to get a bit of game time into their legs. I’d go with

CK,

Bradley, Joe, Quansah, Tsimi

Dom, Endo, Clark

Elliot, Gakpo, Danns / Koumas

I’d give Dom and Wataru 60 mins then look at the young lads again and bring Darwin on for the last 30 or so to play up front on the left. As I say maybe Ryan and, more likely, Mo coming on for the last Thursday.

The team is based on giving everyone available a run prior to the City match and not necessarily on beating Sparta Prague, given I think we will beat them over two legs.

I knew it would come some day but still in shock with the news that this is Jurgen's last season with us. I don't think most people understand how important he is to this team and although I am deeply saddened by this news I think we have to respect he decision because of how much he has done for us in the last 7 seasons or so. The gulf that he will leave behind when he does go will be like the grand canyon and FSG will have a massive task to get the right person in to replace him, well try to replace him he's un-replaceable in my mind it's a sad day for the club. I wish Jurgen Norbit Klopp nothing but the best after he leaves his health is the most important thing right now, just how do you replace the best manager in the world is beyond me. I sure as he'll hope we don't allow all his fantastic work to become undone and fall back into the obscurity of being also rans like we suffered from the 90's onwards until his arrival.

Evening All

Just like to say a huge congratulations to what was a fantastic team performance 2nd half. In what could have been a tricky fixture and after a average 1st half performance without being pushed too much we moved up a gear and got a deserved result. Thought the ref was poor again today maybe it's rose tinted glasses with me but surly Kluiverts tackle was worse than what Jones got sent off for and the ref didn't even think it was a fowl and so no action can be taken by VAR thankfully Diaz was fit to continue and it didn't have any bearing on the final outcome. on to Wednesday night and the 2nd leg against Fulham who will be playing like their lives depends on it. No doubt it will be tough but hopefully we will have enough to get through this and onto our second home and another cup final.

Well done lads great team performance today.

All the best.

I thought the ref had a good game except for that Diaz incident. He ignored the dives and kept his cards in his pocket for the most part.

2.) 21 Jan 2024 23:00:21
No Zippy, it's not about red-tinted glasses at all. What is true is true, red, blue, gold, whatever. Jones' tackle was never a red card and the powers that be decided it was. Several other instances this season, the same powers have decided to be more human. When do you draw the line? Stay consistent and keep the standards fair across board.
There was also the Lewis Clark tackle late on that could have been a penalty, and the Jota one that was ignored, probably as punishment for embarrassing the powers against Newcastle as opined by Alan Shearer!
After reviewing the game, I just can't believe Liverpool had more cautions in that game than Bournemouth. Even when you exclude the Kluivert situation, there were several cynical fouls and Madley just decided they were okay. Cook was very dirty in that game but got away with almost everything. Scott the same. In fact, it felt like the Bournemouth bos got emboldened after getting away with a few and got worse and worse and kept getting away with more and more tactical and cynical fouls.
Forget about today's scoreline; the level of officiating in England is at an all-time low. For the best league in the world, it's really sad to see. But it seems these guys are so untouchable they're more interested in closing ranks, making excuses and being defensive, rather than being genuinely committed to making improvements. Let's see how many English referees will make it to the Euros and the World Cup!

3.) 22 Jan 2024 08:21:51
Jota’s left foot kicks the Bournemouth players heel. If anything it’s a dive.

4.) 22 Jan 2024 08:23:58
Notsozippy if the ref missed the foul completely I don't see why VAR can't rule on that? The pen against us at Palace would be evidence of that.

Evening all hope all is good.

Interested in people's views on Micheal Olise as a potential Salah replacement, young, great speed and gets goals and assists. Look there is never going to be anyone in the same bracket of a prime Salah but Klopp has a habit of making good players into great ones. Be interested in people's thoughts if they think he would be a viable replacement. I guess Crystal Palace would be looking for a huge transfer fee if anyone did come a calling.

Bowen would be hugely expensive.

3.) 30 Dec 2023 16:57:13
To replace a world class player it’s going to cost. Or we could shop around the bargain basement and hope we find a Salah replacement on the cheap.

4.) 30 Dec 2023 18:04:40
Help I'm still waiting for my 2 tickets to be sent to me for Mondays game and I'm due to drive down from Scotland. Please advise.

5.) 30 Dec 2023 18:06:22
I believe it’s Sane that Klopp would like, regardless tho, it is a difficult task replacing Salah.

6.) 30 Dec 2023 18:20:15
Bowen just turned 28 and should Salah leave in a couple of years, Bowen will be 30 so nope, I'll pass.

As for Olise, I like him a lot and have done for the past 2 years BUT he needs to show a little bit more before I consider him a true option to replace a world class player and PL monument that Salah is.

7.) 30 Dec 2023 18:22:46
Obsessed with Chelsea academy players ?.
I like Olise I think he’s a great player I think we would be taking a major punt on potential as he hasn’t really scored many but he has been in a woy team for most his career .
But look at Gordon hardly set anything alight with the ev and looks one of the toons best players .
Be expensive olise.

8.) 30 Dec 2023 18:26:32
If Harry Kane cost Bayern Munich 110 Million Euros at age 30, then that's it for your benchmark for players of Kane and Salah's experience and production. Even if Salah is sold above 100 Million, I doubt very much that you will get someone much younger with the same production at the same price. You'll have to pay higher.

To buy a player at age 25 for 35 Million and then sell him for almost 3 times higher (100 Million) at age 31-32 is not the rule but rather the exception. You have to accept we got lucky.

9.) 30 Dec 2023 18:43:54
Is Bowen that old? I thought he was about 25. Disregard that then.

Rab where have you purchased it from. If it’s being transferred to you, you need the NUFC pass.

10.) 30 Dec 2023 19:34:37
My wife got them from liverpool ticket office as a 60th birthday gift we email to be told we will receive them but I've no finger nails left got time away from work for this as well help.

11.) 30 Dec 2023 19:43:35
Rabh, tickets are usually accessed through either Google wallet or apple pay. You'll need to download it all through the lfc website and they'll be walk-through on how to do it.

If you have purchased them off a friend, they will need to transfer them to you through their profile.

12.) 30 Dec 2023 19:54:47
Play elliot maybe in salahs position. Spend the big money on Ivan toney.

13.) 30 Dec 2023 20:17:30
Rab best bet mate is go onto official Liverpool web page tomorrow and go live chat. It might take 30 mins but you hold your position and when through to the operator they’re really good and will talk you through what to do.

14.) 30 Dec 2023 20:29:52
Yep, JK23. Bowen was born 20 December 1996.

15.) 30 Dec 2023 20:57:19
There is no Salah replacement to be had. If anyone thinks we are going to go and buy a player that gets Salah's numbers regularly they are kidding themselves because he wasn't that player at Roma when we bought him. We need to find the next lad with slot of potential and I personally think olise fits the bill, certainly more than Bowen (age) and Same (age and attitude) .

16.) 30 Dec 2023 22:16:50
Mizer - I agree, but he’s not there yet, hopefully he’ll be ready when salah finishes up. I guess the obvious replacement (if that’s the right word) is saka. How much would he be? More or less than 150?

17.) 30 Dec 2023 23:02:21
Sane is only turning 28 in Jan. He could have at least 4 good years at the very top in my opinion. If Klopp wants him and I don’t have to pay his wages then that’s good enough for me?.

18.) 30 Dec 2023 23:42:49
Olise looks like he’s a player on the up and at 22 he’s a good age. 5 goals in 9 games this season is good going. To me he’d make more sense than Sane or Bowen as it’s more in keeping with how we work.

19.) 31 Dec 2023 00:03:29
Mizer - Elliott doesn’t have the raw speed, movement or lethal instincts that make Salah such a devastating player. Elliott is a fantastic young player but I think his best qualities as a player are when he is in possession, whereas Salah’s are often when he’s popped up in a yard of space no one saw.
I have no idea who should replace Salah when the time comes. He is the greatest right forward to ever play in England and might not be worth trying to replace like for like.

20.) 31 Dec 2023 00:04:54
I don’t think we can replace Salah with 1 player. The numbers he puts up are astonishing.

We might end up with a Jota/ Diaz situation but on the other flank because no single player could replace Mane either.

21.) 31 Dec 2023 01:29:02
We just need to have an open mind I think. It's too easy to say we should buy x player as a replacement, I honestly don't have a clue who could come in and do what Salah does but at the same time I trust the club to get something done. When we signed Salah nobody knew what to expect and he went on to be incredible. Same could happen again, we have scouts out there watching players all of the time, all it takes is that one to click and we're laughing. I don't see us going for a well known or crazy expensive signing because it's usually just not how we do business.

The summer will be very interesting but until then, I look forward to watching him lift more trophys with us.

22.) 31 Dec 2023 06:13:57
Klopp like to buy player with weird hairstyle

my guess is Adingra.

23.) 31 Dec 2023 09:39:45
Well said Salah, we don’t buy world class players we make them.

24.) 31 Dec 2023 10:30:30
Olise or Bakayoko or Savio Moreira would be my picks

Olise is proving it in the prem but all 3 look like they have fantastic potential.

25.) 31 Dec 2023 10:42:35
we don’t buy world class players we make them

Can we just stop these cliche one liners please ??.

26.) 31 Dec 2023 11:06:49
And why would we stop using such cliches when they are factually correct and have been proven via clear empirical evidence, to be true over the decades? Serious question.

27.) 31 Dec 2023 11:14:46
I have said it before, and I will say it again.
Get Ivan Toney. 32 goals and 9 assists in a Brentford team
Salah is off to the Afcon, and if anyone can remember the last time he returned, he was in really bad form.
If we get Toney we will at least have another proven Premier League goal scorer to unleash, also stop Arsenal, Spurs or Chelsea buying him.
We all know that Mo is off to Saudi in the summer, so why not get a replacement in now to help us win 4 trophies this season?

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has no interest in Toney.}

28.) 31 Dec 2023 11:43:03
Absolutely Oli. The only so called world class player we have bought during Klopp’s reign is Thiago.

You could argue Alisson I guess although he hadn’t achieved much at that point. Keita was the best player in Germany and was thought of as world class by some.

We were mocked when we paid £75m for Van Dijk as nobody saw the player he would become but they try to change history by saying we signed a world class centre half. Nobody thought that at the time and most said we’d massively overpaid for an average Southampton player.

29.) 31 Dec 2023 12:42:46
We didn’t replace coutinho directly like for like so maybe the money from salah will be spent on other areas of the team . Who knows

I think we can all agree we have a quality squad of football players

And genuinely 4/ 5 world class in the 1st 11 with another 3/ 4 that could step up to be worldies aswell

In all the time salah has been at Liverpool we have never really had a back up player for the right wing to rest salah . The man’s a machine but szoboslai and Elliot could easily play in his position while he’s at AFCON and it might be an audition for them while he’s away maybe for next season or beyond .

Either way picking another salah up won’t be easy and near impossible but 1 thing with Liverpool is we give people a chance.

30.) 31 Dec 2023 18:00:08
Really like Bowen but with his age and pricetag i could see us being more interested in Olise or Diaby. Or like someone said maybe Szobozlai can play there with someone coming into the midfield.

31 May 2023 22:28:14
That Suso lad playing for Sevilla looks a half decent player ?? have we shown any interest be a great addition to our aging midfield ?.

NOTSOZIPPY

1.) 31 May 2023 22:51:19
Another one we messed up. We sell him and only a decade later here he is playing in a European final.

2.) 31 May 2023 22:57:14
Much as I love a good brow beating / self flagellation (! ), I'm not sure we can kick ourselves over every player that has left.

Suso is a blast from the past, I thought we were currently stuck on Awoniyi?

He wasn't a bad player, he just wasn't right for us at that time with the way we play.

I see posts not too far down saying that we have 'ruined' Carvalho's career by having him here for a year, so if we let him go, for 'his own good' should we also beat ourselves up in 5-10 years when he has a great career elsewhere?

We need players who are right for us. With young players (or overseas players) sometimes we get it right, and sometimes we get it wrong. When we get it wrong we should move them on quickly, both for our sakes and theirs.

If Carvalho is not the right player for us, and there are a lot of posts saying why he's not, just as there were about Suso 10 years ago, then best we part ways amicably.

3.) 31 May 2023 23:15:06
10 years later he’s in a European final, in the meantime we’ve been in 4 European finals, won the CL, the PL, FA cup and League cup.

Yet he would’ve made all the difference obviously.

4.) 31 May 2023 23:39:52
I saw him in a preseason game years ago and he was unbelievable. That said- it was a pre season game. Regardless- I was always a massive fan and the first player I always tried to sign in pro evo 15.

5.) 31 May 2023 23:47:49
Didn't he make his debut as a sub against Utd when someone went off injured? I think he was 16 or 17 and gave their RB a torrid time for a while. Or is my old brain failing me?

6.) 01 Jun 2023 00:02:55
Think of the team we could've had!

Gulacsi
Coates, Coady, Ayala
Williams, Can, Alberto, Suso
Aspas, Awoniyi, Sterling

Makes me sick. We'd be strolling to the Championship title next season.

7.) 01 Jun 2023 00:21:12
@TB / Zed irony as a comic device and discussion have, like banter and, by and large, humour in general. f***ed off over the horizon on this forum.

8.) 01 Jun 2023 02:50:52
WDW3, irony isn’t for everyone.

9.) 01 Jun 2023 06:02:44
You're English, right? I thought irony was oxygen for the English. I'm on this chat group as much for it as the bollocks being spoken and then being corrected by the Eds. Not much irony going on the continent, you see.

10.) 01 Jun 2023 06:25:47
Fair play to Suso, great to see him win a major medal. The game was awful tho, not helped by the antics on the sidelines.

11.) 01 Jun 2023 07:59:28
Suso at the time, was one we should have really tried to help BUT cos we had the clueless BR who could not be arsed about bringing youth thru to the first team, Suso had to leave.

On the other side of things, Im not sure wg-hy this is relevant cos Suso left us near a decade ago and has bounced around the Serie A and La Liga so I don't think we missed anything here esp with the youth players Klopp has broght thru and how some of them have performed. Not a loss for me BUT super happy to see him win his second EL trophy in 3 seasons.

12.) 01 Jun 2023 08:02:10
To be fair MK, a lot of those players exceeded what we thought they were going to be (Coady, Gulacsi, Coates, Alberto, Aspas and Awoniyi), but they just didn't have the space in the team at the time. Some, however, are indeed stinkers!

13.) 01 Jun 2023 08:18:41
Ha! Apologies, TB, I of all people shoulda spotted the irony!

It was late, I was tired, yadda yadda ?.

NOTSOZIPPY

{Ed001's Note - I did say a while ago in the news review and podcast that I think he should have been the winner of the Golden Boy award.}
