Trust you all well, if I may ask, what's is the situation with Pedros contract looking like? Has the club offered him something or is it a case of running it down?

Greetings to you all, Ed we have witnessed the team reward players with improved contract terms, any plans to do so with Gini or has recently had an extension.
With Jones being well thought of in the team, what plans are mapped out for his progress?

Much appreciated.

OpoKaraDokia

{Ed001's Note - I actually thought Gini had signed a new one, but I see he hasn't yet. There has certainly been talks over one and he indicated a desire to stay, so I expect it will happen.

Jones is likely, in the short term, to take the space in the squad Brewster currently has, when Brewster heads out in January on loan (if all goes as planned). In the long term, he is seen as taking over Lallana's space in the squad.}

1.) 09 Dec 2019 17:01:57
Gini is a unsung hero for me and fully deserves the new contract. Ed001 any ideas what clubs are in for Brewster and which would you think would be a good suite for him.

{Ed001's Note - a few Bundesliga teams and Palace off the top of my head. Palace would be good for him I think.}

2.) 09 Dec 2019 19:30:22
That’s interesting Ed, why Palace?

{Ed001's Note - because he would walk into their team.}

3.) 09 Dec 2019 20:18:20
Ed, IMO Brewster should walk into that Palace team at CF esp. ahead of the forever dreadful Jordan Ayew and the striker formerly known as Christian Benteke.

4.) 10 Dec 2019 00:24:21
Redwolf, more like the football player formerly known as Christian Benteke.

5.) 10 Dec 2019 08:01:03
As we are talking about replacing players what’s going to happen James Milner any ideas of replacements or is he looking to stay another year
thanks eds1.

{Ed001's Note - he hasn't decided from what I can tell. Might be waiting to see if Leeds get promoted, as he has always said he wants to go back. But I am guessing as it is in his own hands, Klopp would like him to stay another year.}

Greetings hope all the eds and users of this site are doing well. Question on the two young boys we brought in at the beginning of the season. How are they settling in with the team's, culture and city? Could this be an approach, Liverpool football club are looking to take within the transfer market, whereby we focus more on emerging talent as opposed to ready-made products? I recall it being documented that Klopp had made promises to use young talent when he applied for the project.

What's the difference between buying a youngster like berg or elliot compared to a senior player like VVD or alisson I'm not talking transfer fees I mean like do we bring parents and sort local jobs for them or is it the familys responsibility to do that or with senior players do we sort schools out for the kids all things like that.

2.) 14 Nov 2019 09:03:16
Interesting question berg, not sure how it works in those areas but I am aware that in RSA kids are placed in schools and provided facilities to ensure there is balance between professional and social development side of players. Mamelodi Sundowns and Clapham High School is perfect example which has done a fantastic job with players such as Percy Tau and others. Maybe the eds can assist with more details if time allows.

{Ed001's Note - they are over 17 and so professional players and there is no requirement to provide education. There is a good reason why British players, as a rule, tend to be less intelligent and educated than most other nation's players. There is little done to guide or push them towards educating themselves. Sadly.}

3.) 14 Nov 2019 10:03:55
Agreed Ed, I feel like maintaining an education will help players both on and off the pitch.

I had a friend who was a youth goalkeeper for Portsmouth was signed by Millwall, things didn’t work out and He had to go back to college at 22.

{Ed001's Note - it is too easy for them to drop out. It is a shame as they have plenty of spare time to do their studies. You only have to look at the difference between say Eastern European players and British ones. UEFA used to produce a magazine each month and in it they would interview one player. One of the questions was always "who do you think is the most influential person?" or something along those lines. British players would say, always, a sportsman, someone like Tyson or similar. Eastern European would always, and I do mean always, say Nikola Tesla. If you asked every British professional footballer who he was, I doubt you would even get into double figures of the people who know him and what he did. They need to widen their scope and learn about more than just sport.}

4.) 14 Nov 2019 10:20:02
Oh no that is a shame in did Ed 001, with the amount of money moving around you would expect education to be prioritized. Not every agency has players' long term interests at heart, the responsibility does fall on players to secure their own future outside football. Thanks for response. keep well.

{Ed001's Note - there has been an improvement at academy level, but it is after that when they need looking after still that the game fails them. It doesn't matter if they get a big money move and so don't need to educate themselves to get a job out of need. It is about them opening their mind and seeing more than just football. They need to have lives that are full, rather than just going home and playing games all night or going out on the lash. I love videogames, don't get me wrong, but they need to have their mind expanded, they will play better if they have the wherewithal to think for themselves, so clubs would benefit too.}

5.) 14 Nov 2019 10:58:52
is this why many top tier British footballers lack in basic cognitive and life skills such as critical thinking, perspective taking, empathy, etc.? And also lacks a life aside from football and leisure?

its similar in my country and many of the players cling on to playing semi-pro well into their 40s cause they can't do anything else. And a number often get into silly fights and just generally unable to express themselves well.

on another note, i think Heggem went on to have a salmon business of sorts after his career ended early. i'm just thinking if they were better educated, it would give them a lot more options in life as well if football didn't work out.

{Ed001's Note - exactly mate.}

I worry for one of our more attacking midfielders. We bought Aoc when we missed out on keita. We bought in shaq coz Aoc was injured. It feels like something has to give. We have too many high class CMs

Henderson cm rm dm
Wjinaldum cm dm am
Fabhino dm cm rb
Milner cm lb rb lm
Aoc cm RW lf
Keita cm dm lf
Shaqiri cm lw lf rf
Lallana dlm cm am

Then there's Curtis Jones too

But then again they are all so versatile. Klopp is a genius in coaching his players to be able to play in different roles. It makes injuries less of a worry.

Who is, reds and eds, (if you can be bothered) the player you would least like to get a half serious injury?

It's a tough one. Bobby because I don't think mane, salah or origi can play cf anywhere near his level. They are all better coming from the wing.
Fabhino. Well he is instrumental. We haven't lost with him in the team.
Alison? We adrian
For me it's VVD.

Then again, robbo and trent are indispensable, but we do have cover. Trent gets a lot of our assists though. With gomez there it will be down to the midfield to create

It has to be van djike.

{Ed001's Note - I don't want any of them to get a bad injury!}

7.) 14 Nov 2019 11:45:05
John Scales has set up his own events management company since retiring as a player. Agreed though, he is an exception from the norm.

{Ed001's Note - I liked him. He came out and said he was leaving Liverpool to join Spurs as that was the only way you get into the England team, as they are the FA's fave for some reason.}

8.) 14 Nov 2019 13:38:52
Love how you rapped it all up Eds, opening up their minds in order to enjoy life to the fullest. Thanks you.

Good to see Hendo playing with a smile again, covered the right-hand side well. Been pleased with his reaction when being subbed. Captain our captain.

Good win yesterday but importantly what a game (unlike the final) . Sad how Pacho has fallen, with the quality he has, his team was poorly set up (at least until Ndombele came on) . The improvement of Joel was high lighted again yesterday, Lov looked a school boy trying find his way around men. Sadio Sadio Sadio, is there a more durable, strong and calm head in football at the moment?

OKD, I thought Lovs was solid overall, last night. If people want to blame him for a freak deflection that hit the post and fell to Harry Kane in the perfect position then by all means, have at it. That would however be dishonest cos that freak incident could happen to anyone.

2.) 29 Oct 2019 05:34:35
Hey Red, rightfully so "freaky deflection" could have happened to any one, taking that out from the equation I felt Big Virgil spent majority of the game trying to cover up for him. The incident where Deli was put in one on one with Aly comes to mind. It could be down to lack of game of time or the general improvement of Joel but in my limited opinion he just appeared tad slow. To his credit he got stuck in the action and tried his bestt to win his duels. Our right hand side of defense continues to be a challenge.

3.) 30 Oct 2019 00:15:31
I think it was clear lovren was often left isolated due to spurs only attacking on the break and when Trent was always therefore advanced and left out of defence. Also spurs only pacy direct option was son from the left and Kane trying to avoid VVDs side. Erikson was never going to offer the same issue on our left side. Lovren was often left exposed and to the naked eye many saw this as him being all over the place but in fact he actually defended his tough situations as well as can be expected. I think a bit of relevant analysis can clearly show he wasn't individually weakening our defence.

Let's be honest here we are not exactly known for promoting our young guns and but instead opting to buy ready made talent. While it seems to have gotten the desired results it is safe to say that majority of the young players in the team will not be afforded the chance to shine and build something for them selves here.

It would take a brave man to sign for LFC at this present and expect to occupy any of the front 3 positions right away. Would personally prefer him going to any other team except us. Would make the league interesting and a bit balanced .

Just goes to show how far Barcelona has fallen behind, for a team that was known for producing and promoting their very own to resort to this is crazy. One would think now is the best time to pull out another Xavi but sadly not.

Interesting things being said Paul agent, Ed do you see the working relationship between Paul and Man U still present when he recovers and deemed fit to play?

As always a very good read, much appreciated.

OpoKaraDokia

{Ed001's Note - no he wants to go and United are making a huge error by trying to force him to stay. No point having unhappy players.}

He really has sat the bar really high in the past and sadly we expecting him to do it on a regular basis. He wants to win and for me it's such a bonus.
