Thinking about the increasingly likely voiding of the season and turning the narrative on its head - surely we will go down as one of the greatest teams to miss out on a title given our record this season.

Be great to win no.19 this year, don't get me wrong but it would be added to the stats and the detail fogotten eventually.

The manner of the way this season pans out will not be forgotten so quickly and our story will forever be linked to the season that wasn't and in a way will be more enduring.

If they cancel it then it pushes the Prem even further behind the UCL. Its so far behind already I can see it becoming the FA cup mark 2.

OP, the FA are working on completing the season as a first option right now so apart from certain in the media trying to kick up some dust, there is no appetite to cancel the season by those -in-the-know.

Only natural some clubs may want to capitalise on the uncertainty - we have done it on the past. Big difference receiving enquiries and courting them. The other side of this may be that the new manager no wants Virgil and they may seek to move him on (although I would hope that was unlikely) .

It has sounded like his representative has been trying to hammer out this deal with a number of different clubs since the moment he arrived. When push came to shove previously his client signed a new deal with the club.

Ed002 - whilst the Saudi league doesn't come under FFP, the Premier league does and that would preclude Newcastle, for example spending the reported transfer fees to take the Chelsea players about to join the Saudi league. But within the loan limits they could be parked at Newcastle. Happy to be corrected if my understanding of this is way off.

{Ed002's Note - You simply don't understand FFP. They can take players on loan within the rules and so can Liverpool. Liverpool were left in a healthy financial state regarding FFP by the previous owner.}

One for the Eds, and excuse my ignorance if I am way off the mark here, however with the Saudi investment fund that own Newcastle now effectively owning the main clubs in the Saudi league does this mean that they can bring in players to their Saudi teams and then arrange for them to be loaned to Newcastle and thus avoid any FFP consequences to Newcastle for the transfer fees?

Paisley Park

{Ed002's Note - What has it got to do with FFP? They can loan players out as long as they stay within the loan rules.}

The Athletic article seems to be classic clickbait - three clubs in the running, but two have more money than the other one and that might play a part in any potential decision. Nothing new or earth shattering here. I for one still expect us to complete the signing. They know Liverpool fans will fervently jump all over this and are taking advantage of that fact in my opinion.

Didn't Real Madrid also sound Klopp out on more than one occasion during his time with us - they will have a vacancy in a timeframe that may suit Klopp.

Paisley Park

{Ed002's Note - They did - so what is the imeframe that suits Klopp?}

I think we need to start to highlight the poor application of VAR as a fan collective through the use of a new verb on social media and get it trending - VARce. Image and perception is everything these days and clicks drive changes.

I think a recent FOI request, referenced in Parliament, confirmed that the Government behind City's owners have made representations directly to the UK government in relation to the bringing of these charges against City - although not the nature of those representations. People can make their own mind up as to what the substance of this may be, particularly in the context of the UK government trying to forge trade deals in the region.

I'm wondering if it may be an experienced short term option to get us to January when a move for Andre may then be more achievable.

To badly paraphrase an oft heard phrase on here "there is a set price and the club know what they need to do to sign the player".
