Any truth in the rumours klopp is looking to sell Gomez in January? Apparently Aston villa are interested?

Peteprice

{Ed002's Note - I would doubt a January sale - perhaps a loan.}

1.) 09 Dec 2021 13:43:06
Klopp has already said that Philips may be on his way in January, why would he ditch another centre half after last season's shortage?

2.) 09 Dec 2021 15:18:59
The Villa link is curious. If the notion that he wants game time under his belt to make the World Cup squad then going to Villa where Konsa and Mings are the established pairing seems not to be the most obvious one. Yes he's better than both (when he's fit) but it still seems odd to me.

I think more likely that Nat get his move and Joe gets more minutes in the second half of the season for us as games come thick and fast in all comps. We've been fortunate with Joel's fitness until now. Don't take that for granted I say.

3.) 09 Dec 2021 17:25:11
West ham are looking for defenders as well.

4.) 09 Dec 2021 20:14:30
and Newcastle.

5.) 10 Dec 2021 07:05:40
After Nat started the other day I half had it in my head that perhaps Joe may leave and Nat stay TBH. Joe will have more sell on value, we don’t really need his versatility right now with Neco and Kostas covering the full back positions plus it’s more likely that Nat would be more ok with being a 4th choice cover option than Joe long term. I don’t really have a preference to be honest as both can be excellent options I think and both are home grown.

6.) 10 Dec 2021 10:09:22
Dont see how selling a better player (gomez) and keeping an inferior one (phillips) who are the same age both homegrown is the way to go to keep a title winning squad at the top while our competitors replace players with better ones. like the early 90's all over again.

7.) 10 Dec 2021 11:36:37
is the interest in Phillips from WHU credible? For me, it makes sense with their recent CB injuries. I think Phillips would slot in well and flourish under their system.

8.) 10 Dec 2021 13:10:39
Why should Gomez be the fourth choice!? His present situation is due to injury. After Van Dijk, he is our next best defender.

9.) 10 Dec 2021 15:23:09
Agreed Sanjit, although i've been impressed with Konate and Matip is top class aswell. Centrebacks are the strongest of any team in the league that's why i think Phillips should be sold its not that he's not a good player its just he's below the other 4.Dont forget Van Den Berg is doing very well out on loan too and will be back in the summer.

10.) 10 Dec 2021 17:47:41
Philips apparently suffered a fractured cheekbone against Milan the other night. If he's going in January he might have already played his last game for the club, unless he goes out on loan in January as Klopp hinted at the other day as a possibility.

11.) 10 Dec 2021 20:28:32
I didn’t say I would do that myself, I just said I wouldn’t be too fussed is all. I believe Ed02 has said in the past that Klopp was looking for a defender to take Gomez’s first team slot when we bought Konate. I can’t comment on who would be starting if everyone was fit because they havnt been, but that said I can’t see Gomez taking Matips place at the moment, I havnt been Matips biggest fan but to be fair he has been excellent so far this season and Konate has also done well so yeah as it stands I think Joe is 4th choice CB. Let’s hope he trains and plays well and gets back in the team cus to do that he will have to outperform Matips current form which would be no bad thing for us.

12.) 10 Dec 2021 23:30:27
The Villa link may be curious. But cos Gerrard is there now, expect ‘and Villa’ to be added to every rumour by the media. They’ll assume that Villa will have a special relationship with LFC now.

13.) 11 Dec 2021 08:26:52
I think matip and van dijk is our strongest partnership defensively (only my opinion)
I feel joe has an over reliance on his pace and his passing is nowhere near matip or van dijk . I still rate him as a player but I think his best performances came next to van dijk when he was out of this world
Let’s hope the injury hasn’t hampered any pace and he can get to the heights he was supposed to but I have a feeling the club could part ways for the right price.

14.) 11 Dec 2021 14:19:03
What evidence is there this season that Gomez is better than Phillip's, its VVD and Matip, then Konate, there would be more money selling Gomez than Phillips and we badly need money, so Gomez is the obvious sale if we need money to. improve another area of the squad.

15.) 11 Dec 2021 14:23:33
While Matip has been impressive at times, his presence makes us vulnerable to balls over the top. I don't think he is a better defender than Gomez. Hopefully Joe gets over his injury vows. If he does, I have no doubt that he will recover his place in the side.

16.) 12 Dec 2021 22:57:07
@Dhfc we won the league with Gomez playing at CB. We’d absolutely be no where near the league title if Nat Philips was playing. He’s very a limited cb, no pace or technical ability.

17.) 13 Dec 2021 00:53:20
No way is Gomez better than Matip. And this season Matip gone up another level the way he carrying the ball into opposing teams half/ box reads the game better imo too. Konate is next in line think next season he going to be a ever present we probably be able to rotate the 3 of them without any disruption.

08 Sep 2021 07:50:34
Van dijk has done his ankle.

Peteprice

1.) 08 Sep 2021 08:18:32
He says he's fine (hopefully)

2.) 08 Sep 2021 09:06:36
The mans a tank, he'll be grand.

3.) 08 Sep 2021 09:15:19
Rest the big man for Leeds and bring him back for the Milan game. Gomez or Konate can cover for him for the Leeds game.

4.) 08 Sep 2021 11:51:24
I wouldn’t be against the idea of giving Virgil a rest now he’s had a few games back. He had to have his finger put back in after a dislocation in the first international and now a knock to the ankle. We need him all season.

I don’t think Klopp will tho.

Bamford might have something to prove so whoever plays will need to be sharp.

5.) 08 Sep 2021 13:23:56
Missing enough now without giving him Sunday off.

6.) 08 Sep 2021 13:14:40
Can't afford to rest him now the Brazilian boys are suspended.

7.) 09 Sep 2021 20:37:46
OP, no he hasn’t.

05 Aug 2021 22:50:24
Curtis Jones to be sold to villa for around 15 - 20 million.

Peteprice

1.) 05 Aug 2021 23:05:31
I hope not.

2.) 05 Aug 2021 23:07:15
Give over. future £101m pound player.

3.) 05 Aug 2021 23:11:43
Probably not.

4.) 05 Aug 2021 23:22:14
Me arse.

5.) 06 Aug 2021 01:48:04
Absolutely not.

6.) 06 Aug 2021 03:14:48
If Origi is valued at 20m and we sold Brewster for 23m, it's a joke that Curtis is 15-20m.

{Ed0666's Note - I doubt Liverpool would sell Jones for 20 million but where living through a pandemic and transfer fees have taken a hit accordingly.

7.) 06 Aug 2021 04:53:25
Surely Klopp isn't stupid when he made it clear the youth is the future for when he leaves. Why would we sell our best youth player and keep the likes of Kieta and an aging Milner it makes zero sense especially nit for peanuts.

8.) 06 Aug 2021 07:47:51
Pearce said only yesterday that CJ would be getting more game time this coming season, plus he is truly home grown so i just don't see that happening.

9.) 06 Aug 2021 08:23:20
If there was any truth whatsoever about this it would be a very very bad sign. paper crap though so its grand.

{Ed025's Note - if i was liverpool i would bite their arm off..

10.) 06 Aug 2021 08:58:40
Curtis Jones seems like a lovely lad and he is a good player, but I don't see him as the future of Liverpool because I don't think he seems to have enough potential.

11.) 06 Aug 2021 09:10:12
Under what circumstance do we need to sell Jones? I would believe we'd have a higher chance to sell Keita compared to Jones. I believe the lad did good last season when he was featured and he can get better if he has the right attitude to improve. On top of that we need all the home grown talent we can get to boost the squad. So, nah. I don't think we'd sell him, not in this transfer window at least.

12.) 06 Aug 2021 08:35:20
Just paper rumours but i thought it'd gain some traction. Baloney if you ask me.

13.) 06 Aug 2021 09:41:13
Selling Jones to sign Messi on loan for a month!

14.) 06 Aug 2021 09:24:33
Really Ed025?, says a lot really. Top talent this lad will be in the England squad or pushing for it by the next world cup.

{Ed025's Note - i have seen it all before JH, young lad gets his chance and does well, then his head becomes bigger than birkenhead and all the supporters big him up and the pundits hail him as the second coming, next thing you know he has a bad run of games and becomes the fans whipping boy, bounemouth then come in for him with a bid of £12m and off he jolly well goes to football obscurity and a after a spell in the priory ends up at accrington mate..

15.) 06 Aug 2021 10:44:55
"Lad gets his chance and does well". that's the only bit of fact from your comment, the rest is personal opinion and hope😆. the kid is streets ahead of most players his age and just needs time and patience.

16.) 06 Aug 2021 10:48:51
Enough about Ross Barkley though Ed, Jones has Klopp to keep him in perspective.

{Ed025's Note - ross is just one of many flash, what makes you think curtis will be any different mate?, i have seen nothing outstanding about him so far and as much as i like to see young players come through there are a hell of a lot of pitfalls, they are very highly paid and find women and other recreational temptations very easy to come by and only the mentally strong and dedicated survive..

17.) 06 Aug 2021 11:29:31
Not every player needs to be outstanding though Ed to make a top 4 team - Take Hendo as a great example. Brutally I don't think he's world class, but he works his arsenal off and his leadership on and off the pitch is invaluable.

{Ed025's Note - your right gandalf, but supporters tend to build these young guys up only to knock them down as soon as they have a loss of form, all im saying is lets see how things pan out before we start hailing them as future internationals or potentially world class mate, its too much pressure..

18.) 06 Aug 2021 14:00:19
Ed025 Completely agree mucker, and Liverpool have had their fair share that fell by the wayside.
Jones is clearly doing something right or he wouldn't be in the squad, never mind getting chances in the first team. That alone suggests his feet are on the ground as Klopp doesn't accept primadonnas.
That's why Klopp let Super Mario walk on a free rather than have him anywhere near a squad he was trying to turn into champions.

{Ed025's Note - i dont question klopps judgement flash, but i have seen quite a few lads at everton who have been potential superstars only for them to fall by the wayside mate, they can get involved with the wrong crowd that the trappings of wealth and notoriety bring, lets hope curtis stays on the straight and narrow mate..

19.) 06 Aug 2021 14:15:52
How can ye see how things pan out when ye'd "bite a clubs hand off"at the sight of a first derisory offer?

{Ed025's Note - is £20m derisory for a young guy who has a lot to prove and only had a handful of first team appearances JH?, i take it the wife controls the finances in your household mate.. :)

20.) 06 Aug 2021 16:25:28
And yours mustn't allow ye much "pocket money"a week if your over the moon with pennies. 😆.

21.) 06 Aug 2021 16:57:17
Anyone who watched Jones coming through knows he's very talented. He's done well when given the chance. Remember Rio saying last season, he was at England u21s training. And asked the players and coaches, who had surprised them and caught their eye. And he said something like. Almost everyone of them said Curtis Jones. He's been asked to play deeper in the 1st team after being a wide forward in the u23s. So obviously adjusting and learning that role also.

22.) 07 Aug 2021 00:01:28
Jones will make it with us and he will be an important member of the squad again this season.

He already did very well last season and then his form dipped but he's only a young lad, he will bounce back and be a very good option for us again, imo.

{Ed0666's Note - only an idiot would right the kid off. Besides why would we get rid of a great young HG player?

23.) 07 Aug 2021 00:29:52
@Ed0666, yep totally agree and the rumour has to be nonsense. Every player has their price of course but nobody would offer what we would want to sell Curtis Jones now - we would be mad to get rid, I think it's a load of nonsense anyway.

{Ed0666's Note - I’m sure if someone came in with 30 million we’d consider it as you say every one has their price but I think Jones will be a Liverpool player for a long long time mate.

Current thiago or prime Paul scholes?

Peteprice

{Ed0666's Note - Thiago classy on and off the pitch

1.) 28 Apr 2022 16:05:57
Scholes does not have the sauciness technically, that Thiago possesses, IMO. Scholes was prolly the better athlete (as a former striker) but technically, he is not on Thiago's level. He's not even better than Luka Modric, IMO. Thiago over Scholes, for me.

2.) 28 Apr 2022 16:06:23
Depends on what you want your midfielder toe do. Toe some people, it's boss the temptoe. Toe others it's break forward intoe attacking areas and contribute toe goals/ assists. Personally i think they were both very good, but Scholes like toe nail opposition players a bit toe much which often got him intoe trouble. So i'll pick Thiago I think.

3.) 28 Apr 2022 16:18:00
Interesting points Mk Scouser. Is that some auto correct going on with the toes.

If it is that's hilarious. Toe nail. ha ha ha.

4.) 28 Apr 2022 16:32:08
Davey I think that is toe-tally intentional by JK.

5.) 28 Apr 2022 16:44:14
On skill and leadership, it's Thiago for me, all the way.

6.) 28 Apr 2022 18:01:42
My god. I missed that scholsey story. Ha ha. WTF.

31 Jan 2022 22:16:12
Evertons best midfield

Van de beek

Alli lampard.

Peteprice

27 Jan 2022 18:30:59
I think we missed a trick not signing that Lyon kid Newcastle just have. Looks a top player and would be perfect for our midfield with his ability to play box to box and deep lying.

Peteprice

1.) 27 Jan 2022 21:06:55
Have to admit do lie the look of him and I think we have had interest in the past.

17 Jan 2022 16:35:16
Rafa to man utd?

Peteprice

1.) 17 Jan 2022 18:13:36
100%, seems like a good idea to me 😂😂.

2.) 17 Jan 2022 18:38:54
You can imagine the protests.

3.) 17 Jan 2022 20:23:25
He couldn't be any worse than OGS.
I like Rafa lots, but I wonder if he's past his sell by date now. I can't tell whether it's his particular brand of football or the fact that his last couple of clubs haven't exactly had the best players, but he hasn't hit the heights I expected him to after doing so well here initially.
He was definitely a wrong fit for Everton though.

4.) 17 Jan 2022 21:12:57
Newcastle relegated and Rafa to bring them back up?

Experienced head, history of re-vamping academies and youth set ups. Familiar with Newcastle and liked by the fans. seems like a good fit for him and the club.

5.) 17 Jan 2022 22:48:16
Just so long as Everton don’t get Potter, although I’m heartened for our friends across the park that they seem to be after Martinez. Whatever you might think about Moshiri you’ve got to admit he has a sense of humour.

6.) 18 Jan 2022 09:51:37
That protest before the Utd game at OT last season will be like an excursion in the park compared to what will happen if this ever came to pass.

29 Aug 2021 11:17:10
I think the only way to create space or score against the low block is to pepper the goal from long range.

We had a period of having a few shots on goal and that was the closest we came to taking the lead.

We should've brought milly and ox on and let Elliot off at 60mins. Even from a rebound there's a chance Jota could've poached one.

Peteprice

1.) 29 Aug 2021 11:36:25
Milner was injured.

2.) 29 Aug 2021 11:38:21
Keita wasn’t even used
He could have made the difference

It just begs the question what’s the point on buying a player then turning him into sth he is not - then you don’t see the level he produced before Liverpool
And then stupid decisions with the subs an choice of team

If that was any other team not fighting for top 4 keita an tsimikas would be playing - from the start but I guess he didn’t want him an Harvey at the same time

I think klopp had a poor game yesterday
And the draw was the best outcome from that clearly

It’s still early but I do wish we had 2 more players.

3.) 29 Aug 2021 11:43:43
We tried that in 13/ 14 vs Chelsea when we had Gerrard and Coutinho in the team. Didn't work then so why would yesterday have been any different?

4.) 29 Aug 2021 13:20:36
We did pepper their goal from long range by Fav, Robbo and esp with the Hendo drive without the deflection, we win the game or was I watching another game? As for Keita making the diff, again there is no proof off that happening esp since Elliot was very good overall.

{Ed0666's Note - pepper their goal? I must watched a different game mate.

5.) 29 Aug 2021 13:31:09
It's hilarious when posters start pointing out all the mistakes Klopp and his staff are making because they know better.
It's almost like Klopp has no track record of winning trophies or developing players and desperately needs to come on here and learn from those who know.

6.) 29 Aug 2021 14:05:53
Always makes me wonder why people come on to a opinion website and seem to get riled up when they read people giving their opinions.

7.) 29 Aug 2021 15:31:24
good one jk.

8.) 30 Aug 2021 00:39:29
I don't know about peppering their goal, but from my memory we had way more shots from range than anything inside the box.

You get what I mean though, he was deemed a Chelsea failure as was Salah. Looking forward to the Scottish boy joining he looks class and with the young Irish right back and neco Williams there I might get my wish although maybe in 2/ 3 years once hendo is older and Ramsey is ready.

{Ed001's Note - no he wasn't. He wanted to leave to get regular football against the wishes of the manager at the time (iirc it was Mourinho). He was never deemed a failure.}

I wish he would go back to midfield Trent. I have dreams of him pinging passes with the inside and outside of the foot, making the runs hendo does and still whipping crosses while being able to still have a crack at goal. He's got everything and too good for right back imo, stick him in cm he's as good as or better than Dr bruyne at his age. Bruyne was still playing for Wolfsburg and regarded as a joke at the age Trent is.
