Any truth in the rejected bid for chiesa?

Peterbrom

{Ed002's Note - To whom?}

1.) 24 Jul 2021 12:55:38
Juventus reject £86m bid from Liverpool for Chiesa! Really?

{Ed002's Note - He is only on loan at Juventus. They will buy him next summer.}

2.) 24 Jul 2021 13:27:01
Paper talk then Ed002.Thank you very much.

3.) 24 Jul 2021 13:42:59
Another Twitter ITK "exclusive". I said it yesterday if you're feeling down go on twitter for the laughable rumours.

4.) 24 Jul 2021 13:43:59
Even I wouldn't hold your breath over that mate!

5.) 24 Jul 2021 14:17:59
It wasn’t the fart kid from Bolton? He’s hilariously bad.

6.) 24 Jul 2021 15:02:58
Wasn't him this time VVVV, but according to him we were given permission by Athletico to talk to Saul two weeks ago. Obviously no one's in a hurry there.

7.) 24 Jul 2021 15:28:57
No lad's it was in the old reliable the Daily Fail.

8.) 25 Jul 2021 12:15:45
What was the fat kid from Boltons user name on twitter again?

Any truth in keita leaving and neves joining?

Peterbrom

{Ed002's Note - It seems rather speculative based on Rangnick taking over as coach, but he has been a disaster at Liverpool. The Italian government could block a move based on his conviction and I don't see how Milan could easily pay for him. Regardless, if there were a good offer for Keita I would expect Liverpool to seriously consider it as the return on their investment has been dreadful. I am also told he has played well in the recent "pre-season".

Neves is a DM and plays in a different position to Keita - so he would be a more suitable replacement for Fabinho - I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool.}

1.) 18 Jun 2020 18:29:50
Ed002, is there frustration within Liverpool towards Keita, or is his situation viewed as mostly unlucky? I know we've discussed issues with learning English, and also overall maturity, but those seem immaterial to being able to affect such a big talent so much. I'm not sure how a guy can be "on the cusp of breaking out" for so long. Something's not right here.

{Ed002's Note - Well the club is hardly going to be happy with the advance payment they made, the last season in Germany with his beaviour, the court case and conviction, him failimg to learn English giving work permit issues and his occasionally being picked as a starter given the significant investment.}

2.) 18 Jun 2020 21:12:04
Do you mind to specify the "court case and conviction" part, Edd002? All in all, sounds like Liverpool wouldn't mind passing Keita on if the money is right? Maybe that would free om some minutes for Curtis Jones.

{Ed002's Note - The player has got himself in to trouble.}

Hi guys, first time poster, but been reading your content for years. Keep up the amazing work. About transfers now, is there any legs to the coutinho stuff or is it click bait. Are we likely to do any business this year. Again keel up the good work, love to all and stay safe guys.

Peterbrom

{Ed002's Note - As has been explained, Coutinho will have been discussed. Liverpool have financial commitments that must be met. There will be some sales and if there are to be additions there will need to be places in the squad available and the players must be an improvement on what there is now, otherwise it will add nothing. Regardless of what Klopp has said, given he struggles with the truth, I would expect a couple of changes over the summer.}

1.) 15 Jun 2020 18:20:18
I would take coutinho over shaq in the squad like for like if possible an affordable.

2.) 15 Jun 2020 20:06:59
hailstones, Coutinho burnt his bridges long ago, faking a back injury to force his move through, refusing to play. Shopping in the Barcelona deadwood sales is not something we should engage in, he can stay gone, he’s not welcome back.

3.) 15 Jun 2020 20:22:18
Like you said 6times he’s burn he’s bridges but more importantly as eds1 has pointed out he doesn’t fit our style of play and would probably slow us down and let face it even he’s loan fee isn’t going to be cheap.
It’s a no from me!

4.) 15 Jun 2020 20:31:25
All the above true but he would be more useful than shaq, he can't play a full 90 mins or even get on the pitch too perform look how much he is injured . I am speaking from a point of view that we haven't got no dough and we need quality, ideally I wanted the likes of werner, havertz, arouar, dybala but the reality is we will have too be creative . I wouldn't spend money on coutinho but a loan might be useful in our situation especially if shaq leaves .

5.) 15 Jun 2020 20:36:41
A loan fee and a salary of more than £200’000 a week. No thanks. No thanks at all. Sentimental nonsense if you ask me.

6.) 15 Jun 2020 21:11:10
I have too agree 6 times he would not be nowhere near my first choice, but the reality is he would contribute more than shaq and I am just using his name cos he is linked, I don't think klopp would have him back anyways .

7.) 15 Jun 2020 21:13:29
Jesus that’s 2 good posts from Eds2 this year what’s going on 😃.

8.) 15 Jun 2020 21:26:08
I struggle with Coutinho returning and gracing the Anfield turf. Equally in life we make mistakes and get our heads turned. I do forgive him for that. We plucked him from obscurity from Milan and made him the player he is/ could be. The fact that he hasn’t really done on it on the big scene suggests he is made for a club like ours. I don’t think he would fit our system now and I think we are better now than we were when he was with us. I must be getting old and sentimental but I do think there is a rotational squad place for him, but he won’t want that. He is a match winner but needs to play regularly. Maybe New Astley if they can afford him?

9.) 15 Jun 2020 21:51:49
We don’t want him or his sore back he paid for his way out! I’m grateful we got vvd and Becker but he burnt his bridges if was getting a game or Barcelona or Munich we’d not even be a blip in his head! Good luck to him but it’s a no for me!

10.) 15 Jun 2020 22:00:15
I don't get the obsession with bringing Coutinho back. He's a player that had a very good 18 months for us prior to him forcing his way out of the club. Before that he was very hit and miss often doing nothing for multiple games at a time and since he has left us he has gone back to that. If he hadn't once played for us nobody would be asking us to sign him now.

11.) 16 Jun 2020 04:22:28
would you take your wife/ girlfriend/ boyfriend/ back just because its not worked out with the person they left you for?
every time we sell a player we seem to have a clamour to buy them back, his time with us is over, quit living in the past, let sleeping dogs lie and more importantly let's move on.
Look to the future. PC belongs in our past.

Hi,

Is there any potential incoming midfielders?

I know we have a few but they are starting to age and feel the large amount of games could come back to haunt us.

Peterbrom

1.) 23 Jun 2022 07:22:59
I think we definitely need to bring in a midfielder it’s all well and good saying let’s give games to Harvey, Curtis and carvalho, and I agree they should be getting game time especially over the likes of Milner and ox (just my opinion) but bar keita the midfield three have no competition what do ever. The midfield should have 5 top player vying for the 3 positions with the 3 youngsters to rotate.

Would love one of Barella, Tonali, Bellingham to join but it’s very very unlikely.

2.) 23 Jun 2022 07:59:16
Maybe it won't be 3 midfield positions next season?

With Nunez a proper striker, we'll need a creative midfielder now as Nunez will not pull into midfield. He'll be on the shoulder. So maybe Bobby, Elliott or Carvalho could play off Nunez. Or another option could be playing with 2 strikers, with Jota and Nunez. Jota shone at Wolves playing off Jiminez in an old school strike partnership.

There's lots of options when you break it down. Also, Jones is 21 so he's no longer a kid. No point panic buying if we can't get the players Klopp wants.

3.) 23 Jun 2022 08:32:53
We certainly have the players for a 4231.

4.) 23 Jun 2022 08:50:38
OP, I think we bring one in IF Ox were to leave. If the Ox stays then that's it, IMO.

5.) 23 Jun 2022 09:35:53
Just my opinion (and if we’re still playing 433) in the big games if Hendo, Thiago and fab are fit they start but I think in a lot of other games we might see Hendo / fab rotate a lot and then Thiago rotated with the other midfielders we have allowing maximum rest and game time for all of the squad’s midfielders.

6.) 23 Jun 2022 09:39:58
MKS you’re depressing me with that 4-2-3-1 formation that you keep rattling out, enough with the football by numbers already lol.
Salah will be the man left up top, if anyone, imo.
Nunez is quick and mobile enough to get around, a la Mane.
As you say though, there’s options to mix it up and that’s a positive.

7.) 23 Jun 2022 10:34:04
With Gomez signing g we have 4 top CB's for 2 positions, we have 5 top front men for probably 3 positions but, we only have 3 very good midfielders for 3 positions, Fab who is excellent, thiago is great when fit and Hendo, ) after that its Keita (the LFC Banter page darling) Ox who couldn't get a kick second half of last season and 3 young players who have the weight of the LFC Banter page posters pressure on their very young shoulders to become worldies in the coming season. Seems to me the midfield, if it stays like it is will require gods intervention twice, on minimal injuries to the first 3 coz without it we are in trouble and for the young guys to learn to become top class midfielders in a matter of months. Oh and to the argument that this midfield got us to 3 finals and 2nd in league, I think the idea now is to push on and actually win the league and UCL final but that's just my opinion.

8.) 23 Jun 2022 10:56:52
Juicer, that is Klopp's original formation but not necessarily what i'm suggesting. Lewandowski up front with Gotze as a no.10 got him all of his success in Germany though. Reus and Blaczykowski tearing it up out wide. I don't think we need to be negative and play a workman-like midfield anymore. The Gini-Fabinho-Hendo triage had its day and although Thiago has shaken things up with a bit more panache, he still comes deep to receive the ball and thus sits on top of the centre backs a lot.

I think now is the right time to kick on with a more offensive approach, maybe even with 4 attackers at times or at the very least a midfielder who will play in between the opposition midfield and defence. We saw glimpses of it in 17/ 18 when Coutinho and then Ox after January made such an impact we called it the Fab 4, but it never quite clicked defensively because we didn't have Virgil pre-Christmas, and we didn't have Fabinho or Alisson at all. We did however score 7 goals in multiple games with that 4-2-4 approach.

I just don't think we need 2 or 3 ball winning midfielders anymore. City have only played with 1 for years and they're the bench mark right now whether we like it or not.

9.) 23 Jun 2022 11:54:36
With the players we have it would be very interesting to see how we would play in a 4-2-3-1 (Are you thinking Bobby in a no.10 role? )
If so the only place we would need to strengthen is on the RW where we'd only have Elliot and Chamberlain as cover and in a 4-2-3-1 i would think Elliot would be Bobby's back-up in nr.10 role. Maybe we should find out if there is no chance of Salah signing up. If he is going no matter what, maybe we should integrate his replacement in the squad already this season, like we did with Luis Diaz last Jan.

10.) 23 Jun 2022 12:21:43
I'm not that fussed how Sky's graphic animations dress up the tactics, Malak. 4231, 442, 4411, 433, 4213 etc. All i care about is us playing more attack minded players somehow!

11.) 23 Jun 2022 12:40:23
MK - people keep saying Nunez is a pepper striker which I’m interpreting as more akin to a traditional #9. Year most of his damage for Benfica came down the left side. It will be interesting to see how he is used.

12.) 23 Jun 2022 12:46:19
I actually agree with MK here that a 4231 starting formation may be useful to bring the best out of Nunez and allow a more attacking midfield to play in our system. With Elliot, Jones, Ox and and potentially even Firmino (I would love to see this personally) we certainly have the players for it with Hendo or Thiago sitting just in front of Fabs. My only concern would be where Jota fits into all of this. He’s clearly more suited to playing the CF role than out wide and with Salah staying and Diaz clearly effective out on the left im not sure where he fits in, much as I like him as opposed to the popular hatred he gets for some reason on here.

13.) 23 Jun 2022 13:14:09
Faith, what's a pepper striker?
