Please bear with me on this…… in the past LFC has had a reported interest in Marco assencio and with Villa not achieving CL and their Reported PSR worries, could he provide a solution to our central ( false 9) position?
He can operate in a fluid front three rotating as needed, can come deeper creating space for our wingers to come inside. I know that he lacks the aerial ability as a true focal point but links up great. With Wirtz deeper and pressing ability.

I’ve never liked him, seems like a ‘luxury’ player, that has moments of magic, but overall doesn’t offer enough.

2.) 02 Jun 2025 14:46:16
I agree, Firmane. I don't rate him at all.

How realistic a target is Julian Alvarez? I would love to see him be the man to tie the front 3 together. Is he even available and could a deal be done? Door me he would be a statement signing.

Would be an unbelievable signing and the fact that it’s rumoured Athletico like Darwin would mean that a negotiation could be had.

However it has been said that he left England has his wife didn’t like it here and he’s had a very good first season in Spain so would they even want to sell.

2.) 10 May 2025 13:50:13
Cons - he's in Spain after an unhappy spell in the North West, they are usually challenging for big things, his coach is a compatriot and Atleti spent a LOT of money on him.

Pros - Macca is his bestie, he may feel he has unfinished business in the PL, we have tracked him since he was a kid, Simeone is the type of guy who would be fascinated by Darwin and finally, we are PL champions on the lookout for our new no9!

There's talk of some similar accounting tricks used last summer between Atleti and Chelsea in the Gallagher-Felix deals, but I am not sure if Atleti have any PSR issues to need to pursue that to be honest.

Gut says extremely unlikely. Simeone would need to be extremely fascinated, borderline obsessed with Darwin to want to consider such a deal.

Just a general question on player temperament and attitude… with out club being linked to potential moves for Osimhen and Cunha and the slug that is Greenwood likely to be moving again this window ( though obviously not LFC bound) how much weight do clubs place on players potentially disruptive personality? (naming Cunha/ Osimhuem only as there are questions surrounding them however unfounded they may be)

In recent years Liverpool have signed Balotelli, Mane, Bellamy who arrived with suspect reputations but apart from Balotelli not being very good and the Bitey Suarez I can’t remember too many E H Dioufs. Has the club had any real toxic players polluting the dressing room recently? Has there been many players failed at the club for more personally issues?

Football rumours meets Jeremy Kyle.

2.) 04 May 2025 08:56:11
He was one who could have benefitted from a right hook education! Actually, I’m more interested to know if anyone has succeeded at the club even if they failed (passed) Vikto’s D*ckhead Test.

3.) 04 May 2025 09:07:15
You need to remember this is only Viktor’s opinion . He has been wrong before, so I wouldn’t be hanging on his every word. In fact, I wouldn’t hang on anyone’s word, they are all only opinions, including mine. Make your own mind up on players, do a bit of research to actually see if they’re as bad as some say they are.

4.) 04 May 2025 10:58:19
I think it’s unfair to put Cunha and Osimhen in the same sentence as Greenwood. As you say a slug of a human being.

But yeah I think clubs put a lot of emphasis on it. Recruitment at top clubs now is holistic and takes into account lots of factors aside from ability alone.

From what I can tell there are no bad eggs in our current squad and I think that’s a product of our recruitment strategy bringing in good characters as well as quality footballers.

5.) 04 May 2025 11:21:31
Recent one rumoured was Keita - remember ed01 warned about his attitude prior and believe when moved to Germany refused to get on team bus as either wasn’t in starting XI or squad.

Always a weird one as Mane rumoured to have had issues prior to joining us and then punched sane (may be wrong on who he hit) then was booted from Bayern. Similarly Suarez had terrible behaviour for us but can’t remember issues at Barca…though could be just never pulled up on anything there.

6.) 04 May 2025 11:52:47
Our lack of problem players has coincided with a period of great success.
Cunha - I don’t think there’s a problem, sure he’s a competitor but I think in the right environment he’ll be a valuable asset.
Osimhen - Don’t know enough about his attitude, I just don’t think he’s good enough.

For Cunha see Cantona. Cantona was “a problem” until he settled in the right environment and transformed that team into serial champions.
Some players are not worth bothering with but I don’t think Cunha is one of them.

7.) 04 May 2025 12:13:58
I think it was Ed002 who warned us about Keita prior to him joining us.

8.) 04 May 2025 13:20:37
I would say that most top clubs do extensive due diligence on the temperament, attitude and background of the players. The importance of investing in the club culture and buy-in of values/ ethos is growing. Klopp has shown people the way.

9.) 04 May 2025 14:34:18
People forget carra and gerrard had terrible attitudes and temperaments bordering on thugs, wasn’t a coincidence we started winning more after they both left, the dressing room must’ve been toxic with them two running it.

10.) 04 May 2025 15:50:08
@Victor, we will not be touching Greenwood with a 4 foot pole, let alone a 10 fot one. Do you realise all the grief Marseille got for signing him last summer? This shows how desperate they were to win and for them, it has paid off. Sorry, we ain't that desperate, mate. Not anymore. Why? Cos Klopp (and Slot) already fixed that.

Oh, and we have a "Hole-arses need not apply" policy at the club which has served us very well for a decade now, btw so if a player has a stinking attitude then, he can kick rocks.

11.) 04 May 2025 21:55:14
search ian graham on youtube and watch one of the interviews he's done over the last 3-12 months. he talks about this being part of their analytics.

The only thing i wished they asked him was how they factor it in. I was interested in how they quantify "good charachters"

I watched a documentary where a panel discussed the current Scotland squad and was interested to see how Ben Dock is perceived north of the border.
He is very much viewed upon as a generational talent.
If Ed’s are available, could you shed any light on how he is regarded within the club?
Some of the threads here suggest that he is surplus to requirements?

RN7726

{Ed001's Note - he is well liked but not seen as anywhere near ready nor really what Slot wants.}

1.) 29 Mar 2025 09:39:41
Thanks for your insight. I hope that he gets the chances to further develop on loan so that if he does flourish he could contribute when the time comes in the same way Bradley has done.

2.) 29 Mar 2025 09:42:45
I believe the club were open to selling him in January but Palace didn’t meet the valuation.

Melissa Reddy also reported yesterday that the club would accept a good offer for Elliot in the Summer.

3.) 29 Mar 2025 09:52:53
Surely a Premier League loan, preferrably to one of the promoted sides would be the way to go? Just think we should see if he can cope week in week out in the Premier league before we discard him. Academy graduates don't have to be world beaters for us, they should be used to fill out the squad and get us our homegrown quota.

4.) 29 Mar 2025 10:52:55
Doak is potentially a star for Scotland for years to come, but Liverpool would wipe the floor with Scotland 9 times out of 10, so it's a lot harder to get in our team.

I hope he stays and becomes a regular player for us in future, as I love a Scot in the team, but the noises about transfers doesn't make it seem likely.

5.) 29 Mar 2025 12:43:20
Unfortunately I think the reality of potentially losing three biggest players in the squad for free in the summer, means that in order to spend significant money on incoming players transfer fees we need to sell some players.

And as Chelsea have shown, selling Academy products is the best way to do this from an accountancy perspective.

I think Bajcetic, Doak, Kelleher and others will be sold in the summer to facilitate new transfers.

6.) 29 Mar 2025 12:51:38
Generational talent, wow. I can’t believe anyone thinks that.

7.) 29 Mar 2025 13:50:24
It's pretty clear we'll sell him. Had Palace gone to 20m, we would have dealt.

The academy is a business. Sales are not failures, but by design.

8.) 29 Mar 2025 15:03:00
Thats true Pelican but a decent season in the Prem would double his price.

9.) 29 Mar 2025 15:58:19
And Middlesbroughs promotion push has fell apart since his injuŕy.

10.) 29 Mar 2025 17:58:56
Without being mean, generational talent for Scotland maybe, but not the game in general.
I can see him getting a lot of caps for his country but also a career in the mid to lower tier of the prem.
good luck to him, exciting player to watch and seems a nice lad but I just don’t see him as good enough for us.

SA… Don’t think the digs were aimed at you mate. There were a few tedious, very vocal Hughes / FSG downcryers, who would pipe up with negativity when ever a rumour was floated relating to a player who’s profile they believed was out of our glorious clubs reach. Thankfully, heard less from the more tiresome ones recently.

Zed…. You asked if a player had chosen to sit out a season. Rangers signed an Italian named Marco Negri for £3.5m (a big fee at the time) Supplied by Gascogne and Laudrup he scored 23 goals in his first 10 games and more than 30 in his first season.
In the following 3 seasons he played 3 games for the club. The story goes that he injured an eye playing squash and resented being disciplined publicly by Walter Smith.
Regarding his absences, when Smith was asked if it was injury related, Smith sneered, ”No! ”.
Negri went on record saying, “As far as I am concerned I shall be here until my contract ends and then I shall look at things, but that is a long way off. I signed a deal to stay with Rangers for four years and nothing that has happened here in Glasgow so far has changed my mind about that. ” He pocketed £18,000 a week for 3 years while sitting in a cream puff.

I was ok-ish until I got to the Europa league playoff group. More chance of understanding the new Champions League group stage draw!

“At the end of the regular season, a teams points are halved and rounded up to the nearest integer”? - this is the easy (er) part. Good gosh.

Alarmingly this conjured up an image in my mind of Keith Lemons version of David Dickinson mounting Harry Hill! Now I can’t unsee it. I’m sorry.
