End of the saga for now anyways;

I did not leave Marseille (this weekend), I am with my family, but I will be clear, we will go with Nabil to Liverpool or elsewhere when there is an agreement with Lyon and if Jean-Michel Aulas gives the green light… Liverpool’s interest exists, but for the moment nothing is done and other clubs could come in. The window will be long. ” Fekir Agent.

Sounds like good old haggling over price to be paid. And reading between the lines (in my opinion) . His agent wants it sorted asap and Lfc and or Lyon president to get an agreement in place. I think it will happen just may take 1 or both parties to make a compromise.

2.) 03 Jun 2018 20:56:45
Supposedly a Friend of fekir has said you will see more of fekir after the World Cup - focus song on France for now.

3.) 03 Jun 2018 22:16:12
My son will be in a Liverpool shirt next season - Fekir’s Mum (MotherFekir)

4.) 03 Jun 2018 23:01:26
Hate to say it but usually when potential Liverpool transfers take this turn, they don’t come to us. A lot of gamesmanship and public statements from agents bring more parties to the table and price inevitably goes up.
Someone will probably trump us in their offer and we will miss out.

But if we do, we’ll get someone else. :-)

5.) 03 Jun 2018 23:39:25
Only a week ago we signed Fabinho, chill out guys. Concentrate on cheering england all the way to the last 16 then losing to egypt.

6.) 04 Jun 2018 00:34:26
Lantern - Yes, possibly. But we've seen that once it takes one turn, it can just as easily take another turn. Prime example is what finally happened with VVD.

7.) 04 Jun 2018 03:19:24
I think it’s pretty clear we reached out to him through his agent, he’s keen but we’re not the only interested parties and Lyon will not be rushed into a deal if they are able to drum up other interested parties and push up the price. I suspect we’ll get him in the end, but if not we’ll have someone else like Malcom, Dembele, Pulisic, Werner (all random names, not rumours) the club as identified as a plan B, C or D.

As long as we get in someone to strengthen the attacking 4 I’m OK as I think it’s almost as important to have cover for the wide forwards so if we end up with Dembele then I’d be very happy.

Patience boys, it’s all coming together.

Away from Transfers talk, I was watching the Rugby over the weekend and thought what a great idea to bring the sin-bin into football.

Especially when you see these clinical fouls that are by the letter of the law a yellow but we know should have more punishment. Say 15 minutes in the sin-bin when such a foul is committed. Think it would be great for the game.

Any thoughts?

RedLife18

1.) 11 Jun 2018 17:48:12
I've said the same for about 20 years. I always thought that the card system was weird.
Why should the next team benifit if a player was sent off for 2 yellows? Makes sense for the teams that are playing that day to get the extra benefit.

2.) 11 Jun 2018 17:53:31
Sin bin for dives as well?

3.) 11 Jun 2018 17:57:50
I agree 2 yellows can sometimes be very harsh given how random it can be to get the first yellow sometimes. I think the sin bin is a good idea rather than a straight red.

4.) 11 Jun 2018 19:09:39
Instead of sin bins or naughty steps can I suggest prison time for diving? If I deceived my colleagues at work it would definitely lead to disciplinary action and firing or criminal prosecution.

5.) 11 Jun 2018 20:25:20
What is this thing you call. Rugby?

6.) 11 Jun 2018 21:42:06
Probably just call it the Ramos bin?! :)

07 Jun 2018 20:55:44
If Fekir does join and hopefully we will sort out the goalkeeper situation one way or another.

Would you be happy with that or if not where else would you think we should strengthen?

RedLife18

1.) 07 Jun 2018 21:10:09
Just more depth up front, especially the wide areas and possibly another centre back if Klavan leaves. Other than that, we're looking well equipped! If we sign Fekir and a goalkeeper that is!

2.) 07 Jun 2018 21:15:53
“Ideally” as well as GK I would like a forward who can effectively cover an injury to Mane or Salah and also enable Klopp to rest them without too much loss of class.
Sell Moreno and get a better back up-alternative LB to cover Robertson. I wouldn’t want Moreno playing too often.
Lovren improved alongside VVD, but another CB would be good as VVD can’t be expected to play every game.

3.) 07 Jun 2018 21:23:24
I would be well chuffed with fab, nab and fekir.

You know what, we don't have the world's greatest goalie but he is young and although I brushed the concussion thing away as an excuse, it does actually explain loris's weird behaviour. And let's be honest, he was pretty classy up until that elbow. He had started playing really well, made some beautiful saves.

What I'm saying is. Karius is not a rubbish keeper, he is a good keeper and is on an upward trejectory (sorry bout the spelling) and I think this summer will make or break him, I would be fine with him in the sticks next season. We need a souness type (fahbinio maybe) who gives it back to the thugs and then out classes them. Liverpool are a nice professional team but we need a bit of steel in the team, a bit of bite. Funnily enough moreno is a hard man, only little but he can have it, I seen him stamping down on the midfielder who sliced mane's legs away minutes before.

I hope we don't sell anyone. Can is gone but we need Clyne and moreno, you have two players for each position. The only Players I wouldn't be sad to see go are matip and migs. I was so hopeful that matip would be the defensive saviour (I always had him in my fifa team) but he is even more relaxed than Vvd but without the class, its a shame but if we can get 20mil for him it's 20 mil profit. I don't think he will go but migs will.

Yeah I'd be very happy with fab nab and fekir.

{Ed025's Note - £20m for matip??...i think you mean pence mate..

4.) 07 Jun 2018 21:37:16
Lol ed025, yeah I didn't know how much to put when I wrote it, with the crazy prices being stated these days £20mil seemed about right.

How much would you value him mate? Out of curiosity.

I think he would be good for someone like Burnley or Leicester, team that sit deep. Maybe we could do a swap for tarkowski? Who is better in you guys opinion, matip or Jimmy?

Matip has put in some dire performances but has also played some amazing games and defended like a.? Tiger? No,? A giraffe? I dunno but he's got to be worth a something like 20, surely. He's not old, coming into his prime, plays for Liverpool. But whatever price would be profit would it not? Got him for a free.

{Ed025's Note - i think he will go abroad PH...maybe as a holiday rep..

5.) 07 Jun 2018 23:15:51
Lmao, I can imagine sane storming towards him then matip sees a butterfly and goes chasing it instead!

£15.000000 then? About fight?

Fellow Reds the season ahead what's is a realistic target for us PL and CL Domestic cups.

For me;

PL - 2nd or above. I think we have to go for it from the off and no silly points dropped this season. I have a feeling the way the top 4 or 5 will strengthened it will come down to the games against each other.

CL. Semi Finals or beyond I think after getting the taste for it this year hopefully we can push on again next season

F. A Cup - Surely its coming around to our time again to win something and this always offers more of a realistic chance for some silverware in season. That;s if we take it seriously

League Cup- Same as F. A Cup we should hopefully have strengthened sufficiently enough to have a strong squad that we can get away with resting key players. Again this there for us if we can turn up for games.

Do ye think Klopp will be under pressure if (I even hate typing) we don't win Zilch again next season?

RedLife18

1.) 05 Jun 2018 00:42:56
PL - Title challenge
Champions league - Win it
FA Cup - Progress deep into it
League Cup - Progress deep into it.

The reason I'm not convinced we'll be able to win the cups is that I'm still not convinced our squad is strong enough to allow us to compete to the same extent in all 4 competitions well enough and we'd obviously prioritize the first 2.

2.) 05 Jun 2018 02:47:33
Realistic aims should be to challenge for the title, and as I think 3 teams will genuinely challenge next season, so a finish in the top 3 would be ‘progress’ outside of winning it obviously.

In terms of the CL it’s hard to see us get to the final again to be honest even with the additions to the squad, I just find it hard to see us go back to back like that. Getting to the quarters or more would be good and would make us a staple in Europe again.

In terms of the domestic cups, we have to win one id think. Obviously I’d prefer the FA Cup to the league cup but I wouldn’t mind either just as long as we finally win something. It would do the squad some good and even more so for Klopp.

Just finishing in the top 4 isn’t good enough at this stage in our progression with Klopp. The minimum requirement this season was to finish top4, and considering what we did in the CL and the additions we are supposedly supposed to make this summer (and of course the amount of money being spent) means that we need to win something along with top 4 otherwise it’ll be somewhat of a failure.

3.) 05 Jun 2018 02:50:39
Worst case I’d expect another final and/ or a strong run in CL and a solid top 4

What I really think we should be aiming for is a run at the PL and a cup win.

4.) 05 Jun 2018 03:44:12
Everything, no quarter given.

5.) 05 Jun 2018 04:54:25
we had a bad January last season that was all.
with depth in squad by adding players i think our compulsory one month bad spell under Klopp would be rectified as there are players to provide good cover. (That is if we sign more players than fab)
So i will go with -
win the premier league.
win the champions league.
win the league cup.
win the FA cup.

if we are signing players like fekir, allison, boateng etc etc i think that is perhaps the minimum we should win.

6.) 05 Jun 2018 05:42:29
AK, I think you forgot

‘And go through the season unbeaten’.

7.) 05 Jun 2018 07:05:48
PL win should be the only goal. The rest is gravy.

Early exit from all cup competitions and top of the league would be a great season for me.

Fourth in the league, qf in CL and LC and a FA cup win would be a lost season as I see it. Maybe not lost, but not the progression I'd like to see.

Winning every competition is not a realistic goal, so we have to choose. For me the PL is the one that I want.

8.) 05 Jun 2018 07:18:34
I'll probably do a long boring post about this before the season starts but our target should be 2nd in the league and one cup. Both those things would represent an improvement.

Obviously we want more but that would be realistic.

9.) 05 Jun 2018 07:28:02
I agree with Putney, I think we need to win a cup this season.

10.) 05 Jun 2018 08:17:24
If we sign Fekir, then the 3 midfielders that started the finals would be on the bench - presumably. That's squad depth in the midfield that we didn't have. And the Ox is still out injured.
If we get a wide player too, we should challenge on all fronts.
I think Klopp should place a priority on winning one of the domestic cups though.

11.) 05 Jun 2018 08:51:07
If we sign Fekir, Allisson and a wide player then we should challenge on all fronts!

12.) 05 Jun 2018 12:54:04
Harry, I really don't understand you sometimes.

You've just launched a scathing attack on Lovren and how he's rubbish and can't be trusted, yet you've just said that if we sign Fekir, Alisson and a wide player, we should be challenging on all fronts.

You make my head hurt.

13.) 05 Jun 2018 13:59:28
We only lost ground this year when we started focusing on the CL and resting players in the league. We proved we can be up there (City's runaway performance aside), we just need more bodies. 3 or 4 first team players (we've already got one of them) split between the midfield and forward positions, and there is no reason that we shouldn't improve on this season i. e. better than 4th and at least one trophy somewhere.

29 May 2018 13:52:19
I think its time now to have everyone at the necessary level for us to compete on all fronts. Ability, strength, power, high fitness levels, commitment to our club and above all belief in Klopp and where he is taking us.

The likes of Clyne, Matip, Moreno, Lallana, Karius, Klavan and even the likes of Ings good player but not at the level we need to be at.

No more poncing around get rid and get better in and/ or give our under age a go when thought to be ready. We are now in a position that we haven't been in a very long time at the club. We have a decent chance to go and compete properly next season if we don't keep players just because he is a nice guy and is OK at football.

RedLife18

1.) 29 May 2018 16:09:51
I personally would love Lallana to stay. Massive fan of his. With a good pre season behind him he could be an asset to the first team squad. Belter of a player.

2.) 29 May 2018 17:40:37
But he never gets a good pre season as he is injury prone. best to get rid. That said I think he's brilliant when on form.
Original post more or less spot on. maybe keep matip for another season and see how it goes. Ings needs another season too, been unlucky with injury since joining us.
As for the rest. get shut. Klavan? Whose idea was he anyway.

28 May 2018 12:21:00
As the season is now finished and I had a little time to reflect I am content enough with the season we've had.

Premier League - Realistically we were never going to win so top 4 was our target which we eventually got there. We probably would of done it a lot sooner but for the lack of strength and depth of the squad especially with our CL run.

F. A Cup - Big Disappointment for me. I thought it was our best chance of silverware along the League Cup. Beaten at home to W. B. A in the 4th round. Very poor.

League Cup - Again out of this before any momentum could be gathered. Away at Leicester. Proved some of out fringe are not quite there yet and some will never be there in my opinion for us.

Champions League - Fantastic excitement all the way through. Nothing was done easy by us. Excitement, drama and above all fantastic memories. It was a brilliant achievement for such a strong team but weak squad. I think at the end of the day we should be all very happy and proud for a CL to remember (Forgetting the final of course) . Brilliant to watch at times and even to have other fans drooling over us was a great feeling.

Overall the season has been great in some parts and disappointing in others. We have come far under Klopp and I feel things are only hotting up. The right signing now and keeping Salah could make unplayable next season. Also Klopp to sort out his number 2 one way or another.

Bring it on can't come quick enough and have a great summer all.
YNWA.

1 thing is for the sure the unpredictability of some of our games throughout the year seemed to spill over into our transfers. Astounding, Manic, Nervous but good value of enjoyment.

Agreed Lovern just needs to sort out his concentration and his decision making at times. He can dive in to things when there is no need and go for headers when his timing is well off but overall get these things sorted out and he can be a top CB for us.

Matip is way too chill out altogether on the ball and for a such big guy seems to have no toughness. I'd happily move him on unless he surprise me drastically next season but I doubt it.

The problem here is he is not at the level we need. If Butland is the Keeper we bring then again next season out of the top 6 we have the worst keeper. The time is now to buy the best keeper we can get and stop this mincing about with 2nd rate keepers. It is a serious weakness and has been for a long time.
