Question for the eds. Reports surfacing or resurfacing of some potential investment and linking up on some way shape or form with toulouse. Not the Billy bean guy but someone else that wants to invest in European clubs. Apparently the deal could be done in a couple months. Bullsssst or real deal?

{Ed002's Note - It is the samething without Billy Beane and all of his money. Redbird is the remnants of the Redball investment company that Gerry Cardinale and Billy Beane (a self-confessed Liverpool supporter who owns much of the Oakland As and is the "moneyball" guru) set up last year to buy 20% of FSG (not of Liverpool per se, but of all FSC assets - so part of Liverpool, the Red Sox, the racing business etc.). Whilst they had raised circa £400M through a public offering they could not raise the further £700M required to make that happen. At this point Billy Beane stepped away leaving Cardinale and his Redbird investment company that he used as a vehicle to buy Toulouse (and appoint Damien Comolli as their Chairman). Whilst FSG would like an investor to sell part of Liverpool to (particularly given their major financial issues at the moment), it is questionable whether any of the high-profile expensive EPL sides has the growth potential of other sides across Europe meaning that a merger-like solution would suit everyone best. Clubs like Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea will see growth potential flatten out whilst the chance of growth remains elsewhere - and remember these folks are investing other people's money - not their own. As such Cardinale has a plan to slowly merge with FSG rather than simply invest in it – his vision being creating another City Group or Red Bull type set up. Noteworthy is that the former Premier League chair Richard Scudamore joined the board of the now shelved Billy Beane RedBall Acquisition Corporation and he has been giving advice. At that point they were looking for investment funds to go beyond a merger and look to buy a decent club in mainland Europe or the lower end of the Premier League as well – that idea is shelved for now.}

Thanks Ed. Hope it goes through and at least some funds are made avaliable for improving the squad. Would this link up help us commercially? I'm sure the big clubs are always trying to find new ways to squeeze more money into the clubs.

{Ed002's Note - The money goes to the owners not the club.}

2.) 01 Mar 2021 10:08:47
What’s your thoughts on Damien Comolli ed002?
He always comes in for a lot of ridicule but seems to always land himself top jobs.

{Ed002's Note - You should go back and find what I said when Liverpool appointed him.}

03 Feb 2021 11:58:27
Eds just a question regarding out if contract players this summer. Do you see any of them possibly coming to us? Seen donnarumma is out of contract and at 21 would surely be a no brainer.

{Ed002's Note - Donnarumma won't be moving as a Free Agent and certainly not to Liverpool. I am not aware of any Free Agents Liverpool have been looking to agree a Pre-Contract with.}

1.) 03 Feb 2021 12:13:18
I have no idea if he is any good, but it won't make sense for a keeper who's played in the first team for 4 years to come and sit behind Alisson for the next 6 years.

2.) 03 Feb 2021 12:18:50
Struggling to see why this would be a no brainer, astronomical wages/ sign on fee. Massive issues off the field, crooked agent and would demand to be first choice.

3.) 03 Feb 2021 12:52:21
How is signing donnarumma a no brainer? We have Alisson who is twice the keeper. We are not going to pay 300k a week wages for a back up keeper to play against Hull and Crewe in the Carabao cup.

4.) 04 Feb 2021 13:56:14
Has he done a runner?

24 Jan 2021 12:35:32
Ed. Any chance if business being done with West ham for diop using origi in some way? Clutching at straws i know but west ham are looking for a striker.

{Ed002's Note - I would not hold your breath.}

1.) 24 Jan 2021 15:53:30
Origi? But you said West Ham were looking for a striker?

Sorry, couldn’t resist 😉.

2.) 24 Jan 2021 18:21:54
Nono they are looking to replace Haller right?

3.) 24 Jan 2021 22:57:10
Origi is a legend, them two goals V Barcelona will always be remembered,
but he seems to have been left behind,
Liverpool will want about 20 Mill for him, but, I would
take 12 Million,
money is soo tight,
we really need, to sell to buy .

{Ed0666's Note - I love Divvy for all sorts of reasons. Class personified and won us the CL. But I also concur with you Kop he’s not dating well and needs to move on to resurrect his career. He doesn’t deserve to only play a handful of games a year. He’s too good and we owe him more than that. 20 million? No chance.

22 Dec 2020 11:52:05
Read an article that depay could be avaliable for only 5mill. Surely if origi goes he would add some extra depth to our bench.

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool have no interest in him and when he moves it will be to play.}

1.) 22 Dec 2020 13:20:45
i do love this whole idea that when one of our players who are rarely playing is set to leave we MUST replace him with someone.

If origi left we could very easily just absorb any of the potential minutes he would have had by existing players.

Depay is not going to come to liverpool to "add some extra depth to our bench" he will want to be a constant starter.

12 Dec 2019 18:03:04
Quick question ed. Is Karius still being permanently offloaded? If so what is the rough figure we are expecting? If those funds pay for milamino then we have still technically not spent.

{Ed001's Note - yes he is being sold but it doesn't work like that.}

1.) 12 Dec 2019 19:39:55
Hey Ed1, Seen the links to the Salzburg lad, milamino, but I was more impressed with the Korean lad, what’s think?

{Ed001's Note - Lee Hwang? No end product at all though with him. At least Minamino was just inconsistent.}

2.) 13 Dec 2019 03:05:01
Best to get Haaland if the rumours of 17.5m clause are true. these 2 would replace shaw in squad also cover for wings/ firmino.

3.) 13 Dec 2019 08:19:36
Halaand doesn't strike me as our 'type' of forward.

4.) 13 Dec 2019 13:25:16
He is good but just reminds me of a Shearer type of striker. I don't think he has the mobility to play in our forward line.

A very good player, but not suited to our type of play.

5.) 13 Dec 2019 15:15:46
Jaysus Walter, you must REALLY like Jurgen if you want his statue to have an erection!

RIP Mr Glenn Roeder.

1.) 28 Feb 2021 19:08:16
Oh no what happened him?

2.) 28 Feb 2021 19:56:06
I believe he had a brain tumour Barry. Very sad to hear.

3.) 28 Feb 2021 21:11:52
Yes very sad news.

4.) 28 Feb 2021 21:33:17
Very sad. Brain tumour was the reason he had to step down from West Ham when he was doing really well in the 00s (I think, or was it 90s? ) . Sadly never went away and eventually it won. Very very sad.

14 Feb 2021 08:51:45
Supporting Liverpool will give is times like this. 10 years ago this level of dissapointment would be expected and just normal tbh. Only since Klopp arrived and made us a genuine force again has made these moments few and far between. I for one am hurting just because I'm no longer used to us playing so badly for such a string of games. The phrase you'll never walk alone is more actions than words. Now is the time to really support the team. Moan, complain yes if you feel too BUT in our hearts we need to really support them and never give up hope. Leagues gone, we may not win a trophy this year but as for next season. Full stadium, first 11. Our Liverpool isn't dead. We are still among the very best.

1.) 14 Feb 2021 09:24:37
Completely agree, Scarface, these are the times when support is needed. Were going through a bad patch and the players and Klopp could do with knowing that the supporters have their backs.

Despite the recent results i haven’t noticed a drop in hard work and commitment which is all you can ask of the team. there's a multitude of factors as to why we've played poorly but as long as the players are giving their all each game then they deserve our backing.

This is a unique year and i have no doubt that next year, with our defence and midfield restored, we will once again be challenging for the title. Until then, Klopp and co, YNWA.

2.) 14 Feb 2021 10:14:08
RedScarface 100% on what you just said. Fans can moan and feel frustrated, that’s understandable as long as it’s constructive. Nobody wants to see our team underperform and not be challenging. But, like you said it’s because we have become used to being on top. That is down to Klopp in truly embodying what he said from turning us from doubters to believers. So much so, that we forgot only about 10 years ago these type of results were expected and finishing in top 4 was the ultimate goal, leave alone winning the league.

3.) 14 Feb 2021 12:37:42
Spot on, boys. Couldn’t agree more. And To the Klopp Out people, the reason you are even moaning about performances not being up to standard, is cos the same man you want out, got set those standards.

Without him, we would not have a pot to pee in and those red ribbons around those PL and CL, Super and Workd Club Cup trophies at AXA Facility wouldn't be there. So Keep that whole “Klopp Out” rubbish out of your mouths cos you are embarrassing yourselves.

04 Feb 2021 21:36:01
Question ed. Surely if some cl games are one leg and others are 2 legs it will put into question the integrity of the trophy this season. What are your views on this set up for this season?

{Ed002's Note - There is no plan to try and make anything unfair to any club. There are realities that need to be faced and they are not fully clear right now - one particular issue is one country proposing to remove the non-isolation rule for travelling "elite" sportsfolk. It remains a balancing act that is constantly changing. Nobody likes it but with the vaccine distribution it simply needs to be ridden out.}

1.) 05 Feb 2021 01:58:03
Does anyone else feel like the upcoming euros (and Olympics) are just a really, really bad idea and a disaster waiting to happen?

2.) 05 Feb 2021 10:13:23
Its dumb. Money clearly matters more than people though.

01 Feb 2021 17:39:09
Super excited we got in 2 cbs which will allow for a midfield 3 of hendo fab and thiago. roll on the second half of the season!

{Ed047's Note - I’d be amazed if Klopp plays them both from the off so you may need to hang fire on that dreamy midfield

1.) 01 Feb 2021 17:50:52
I'd say Fabinho and Kabak would be the most likely partnership.

2.) 01 Feb 2021 17:47:02
I'll put the vaseline and tissue on standby.

{Ed047's Note - sounds like a plan red! 🤣

3.) 01 Feb 2021 18:07:07
I’d guess Nat Phillips alongside Davies because atleast they both speak English and klopp will be able to get the message across? Depends how good he thinks kabak is I suppose. never seen either Davies or kabak play and I don’t know if kabak knows English.

{Ed0666's Note - Fu*k me you’re ignorance is astounding. You do realize players go and ply their trade in countries where they don’t know the national language of that respective country. So you think all the players from Africa that go to play in Russia speak fluent Russian before they get there? Also Kabak speaks German after living in Germany for many years and guess what nationality Klopp is? So I’m pretty sure there will be no communication problems.

4.) 01 Feb 2021 18:18:20
I read earlier that Kabak speaks decent English as well Ed0666 so shouldn't be much of an issue there.

{Ed0666's Note - that would be great and if he didn’t I’m sure it’s easy to pick phrases up like ‘clear it’ and ‘don’t give it to Rhys Williams’

5.) 01 Feb 2021 18:23:00
Ed047 clearly someone at schalke liked how you spoke about mustafi 😂 how happy are you he’s left?

{Ed047's Note - I thought it may dupe someone but wasn’t expecting Schalke! 🤣

Very happy mate, he’s been a calamity and a waste of £35 million.

6.) 01 Feb 2021 19:00:51
Not forgetting that a big chunk of players speak English anyway. Someone from Turkey will likely already speak English.
Even if he doesn't it does take long to understand a few English words he'll need (man on, clear it, keeper, push up, etc) .
And drawings on a board and players names are the same in any language.

7.) 01 Feb 2021 20:33:11
Question is, whether he plays on the right or left side of the CBs, how long will it take him to learn Scotch or Scouse?!

8.) 01 Feb 2021 20:36:31
What an odd thing to say Jezza Kyle, assume the name is due to your regular attendance on the show?

9.) 01 Feb 2021 18:44:11
Interesting you think that’s something someone like klopp wouldn’t take into account Ed? Would you say he’s usually the throw them in at the deep end type? I’m assuming both of them are the same ability as I have no idea because I’ve never seen either of them play and I’m guessing at a team selection for game 1 where Davies and and Philips play together because that’s a more compatible partnership from the off. I wouldn’t say there’s anything ignorant about that. Having watched some footy before I’ve noticed some foreign players in all the leagues but if you thought I was ignorant to that then it’s no wonder you didn’t understand the rest of my point. Hopefully after I’ve fleshed the bones abit like the above for you you might understand the point I was making it’s probably touch and go tho.

{Ed0666's Note - Hey Jezza thanks for clearing that up mate and now I get you’re point. Don’t worry I didn’t have you down as Tommy Robinson. Yes I see where you’re coming from that the defense would be in theory more cohesive with two English speaking center backs but football is a universal language. All Centre backs no matter where their from in the world know to clear a football in danger, tackle a forward when he’s in the danger zone and pass to another team mate when the pass is on. I wouldn’t worry about the Turkish fella he can handle himself believe me. However his past indistrection where he gobbed at another player during a pandemic leaves me sick to my stomach for this reason I won’t be supporting him. But I can see a Philips and Kabak pairing with no communication issues.

31 Jan 2021 21:53:37
I believe the last player we got on the cheap from a championship side was. say no more.

1.) 31 Jan 2021 23:01:10
I wonder who would that be now🤔.

Ed. Any idea of how much the option is? I've seen somewhere its 80mill which is eye watering given that upemacano release clause is around 50mill.

{Ed047's Note - everywhere I’ve seen says £18 million

Ed do you see EH signing a new contract removing the 2022 release clause? because 65m does seem awfully cheap for such an amazing talent. If not, could we afford the cost of signing him?

{Ed002's Note - That would not be in his interest. Liverpool have financial issues as you know and are not part of this at all. His agent, who will make very significant charges as well, has discussed options with two other clubs already. Liverpool's priorities are elsewhere.}

I agree. I try not to comment or post on the day when the hurt is raw. I still love my liverpool. We will never go back to the dross that was hodgers football. This period we are in is very hard simply because we are so good that this form is alien to us. This form is alien to us because of the high standards this team and manager has set. I'll be wearing my shirts proudly and still supporting fiercely. Come on you reds! YNWA EVER!

We have been poor since athletico at home. Since then we have become easy to defend agaisnt.

I'm not on the klopp out bandwagon but something really does need changing before we become the team we were under Hodgson never mind Rodgers. Coming to anfield is beginning to look like a guaranteed 3 points. It will take years to make anfield a fortress again.

We can only clutch at straws for the CL this season. If we get knocked out then I'd rather we not even qualify for Europa so we can just focus in league for next season.

{Ed0666's Note - yes we need to play defenders in defense.

With Mbappe comes the commercial gain and extra shirt sales on top of the raw footballing ability. Tough to choose but mbappe I think will prove himself a class apart in 3 years time.
