Ok ladies and gents I've just been watching back a couple of videos of the Champions League celebrations and aside from giving me a sense of enormous wellbeing (Parklife) it just makes me realise how lucky we are to have such a great and talented group of players at the moment.

We can all exalt the virtues of most of the squad, but is there one player who gives you the most joy to watch? Be it a Virgil saunter to retrieve the ball in front of an attacker as easy as stepping on a bus, a Gini giggle to claim possession and calm the situation or a Salah shimmy and strike when we need it the most, who just makes the football juices flow?

For me it has to be Sadio Mane. From his debut and that goal against Arsenal I knew we had a superstar. Plucked from relative obscurity to become one of the most devastating wingers on the planet, he plays with a smile on his face, has a style that isn't often seen these days and bamboozles defenders for fun. He may not always have brought the end product we know he can, but this last season in particular, when the chips have been down he has so often been the one to step up and pull us through. Humble and hardworking, from savannah to stardom, he epitomises what football is all about, in my eyes.

Any thoughts folks?

Great post mate and Mane is a good choice for all the reasons you have mentioned, as you've picked Mane I shall go for T. A. A a local boy who has only ever dreamed of playing for Liverpool, he has broke into the 1st team and even when its not been all plain sailing for him ( klopp even dropped him on his birthday! ) through sheer determination he has become a vital part of the 1st team.
lets look at his highlights so far, scored free kicks in both premier league and champions league, has displayed pin point accuracy with crosses that cannot be defended, has a passing range that suggests a midfield role awaits, and gave one of the most iconic moments in champions league history with THAT corner vs Barcelona which enabled him to take part in his 2nd champions league final all at the age of 20.
Real life roy of the rovers stuff.

ps: honuary mention of course to Andy Robertson for his incredible rise as well, we are so lucky to have them both.

2.) 15 Jun 2019 07:24:22
I just love watching Henderson. Seeing someone who cares as much as the fans is worth a million Pogba's and all their fancy flicks.

3.) 15 Jun 2019 10:35:07
Wow I obviously get a bit sentimental when I’ve been on the sauce. But all is true. Infact, the 4 players mentioned are probably the ones in the team that give me the most pride. I may not be a scouser but who can’t appreciate the local lad living his dream and knowing that every moment for him is exactly where he’s dreamt of doing it, then he rise of Robbo and proving to everybody how far hard work and endeavour can take you and lastly the most underrated player in football, Hendo.

I think a lot of humble pie will have been eaten all round about Liverpool’s past season, the quality of not just 5 or 6 stars but of the whole team and of Klopp’s giant trophyless monkey on his back. Lots of people will have to rethink their narrative about Liverpool now.

4.) 15 Jun 2019 10:38:28
All are good shouts but for me it's Allison. What a difference that lad has made to this team, he's my favourite out of the lot. The way I look at it is if it weren't for him we'd of been out of the title challenge way before we were and we'd of never won the champions league. When you consider it was his first season here? Its exceptional. Huge shout outs to our front three, hendo, Fabinho, Wijnaldum, robbo, trent and of course VVD. We have a full team of great players now so it really is difficult to choose a favourite.

Good Post BTW mate, I'm still watching the videos as well lol can't get enough of it!

5.) 15 Jun 2019 11:08:12
Mane. 100%.

6.) 15 Jun 2019 11:14:26
I love to watch Trent for such a young kids (and I mean kid) it’s been brilliant to watch him develop into an outstanding footballer with more to come. To win the CL at that age is special.

Hey Ed, just wondering if you could tell us which hot young thing we won't be interested in tomorrow so you don't have to field questions on their unavailability? Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - Hamed Traore of Empoli.}

1.) 01 Jun 2019 14:04:21
2 days later - "hear from a friend that's never wrong (he told me Jesus would resurrect a week before it happened) that we are close to agreeing a deal for that Hamad kid from Empoli.
Don't shoot the messenger. "

2.) 01 Jun 2019 16:46:34
Cheers Ed. Didn’t think we had a chance with him.

Love it red! We needn’t bother watching it now with omens as good as that one! It’s in the bag 🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆🏆.

How long will this hurt for? It's not often I am a sore loser, but I can't even congratulate City on this one. Our owners have invested pretty much to their limits while city's team (s) have been paid for with the spare change in the back of their sofa which is made entirely of cash. Yes I'm bitter. Yes I call foul play. No one can invest what they do and still meet FFP rules. Sod UEFA on this one, I think it's the premier league's responsibility to make sure everything is above board as well. Our league is meant to be competitive. If City remain unchecked and dominate for years that'll be no fun for anybody.

Fully agree redinthewrong.

Unfortuanately the dubai money greases a lot of the industry and no one in the media will say its wrong.

The crap that started with abramovic has now evolved into a monstrosity and there may be no stopping it.

Earn your money and spend it wisely. Seems fair.

Its the reason why i have got over rivalry with united. They deserve any access they get.

This city spending won't stop and i see them winning 7 of the next 10 title if they allowed to spend as they are.

{Ed001's Note - Dubai has nothing to do with this, nor does this have anything to do with the UAE money greasing a lot of the media - that would be Qatar, a nation almost at war with the UAE.}

2.) 14 May 2019 10:36:06
Haven’t we breeched FFP?
I think ed002 may have mentioned it.

Even if we haven’t, we’re not in the right type of building start throwing stones about breaking UEFA rules 🤝.

3.) 14 May 2019 11:36:31
Breaking on sly sports is that a uefa panel is looking to have city banned from the CL for one year so u may get your wish! Although I don’t know what it’s for the Ed’s might have sumthn on it!

{Ed001's Note - for the work around on sponsorship they did.}

4.) 14 May 2019 11:41:11
With a little research people will clearly see Liverpool spent more than City in the last 2 years. Stop being bitter ans appreciate our owners; they are matching the spending of City. 97 points and champions league final is something to be very happy and proud about.

5.) 14 May 2019 11:44:41
We are hardly skweeky clean our selfs with tapping up players. Man City won the league because they were the best over 38 games simple! You just need to get over it.

6.) 14 May 2019 12:15:43
Roy, I kinda get your point, but why stop at just looking at 2 years?!

It’s clear that the majority of this City team have been assembled for more than 1-2 seasons, that’s partly why they won this year - the core have played together for a while.

And if you look back over the last, say, 5 years or more, City have undeniably been by far the biggest spenders.

Also, in the past 4 seasons we have partly funded our layer acquisitions through sales - Suarez, Sterling and Coutinho to name the biggest ones.

I’m not saying we’re completely clean when it comes to FFP, as has been reported by Ed002 in the past, but the recent investigations are showing that Man City are slating very close to the edge, much more so than us when it comes to FFP.

7.) 14 May 2019 12:13:56
Rather they got a points deduction and a transfer ban than kicking out the champs League, let's them focus on the Prem with no midweek games.

8.) 14 May 2019 12:25:00
Football is football some teams are better some are stronger some are luckier that’s why i love it. Doesn’t bother me the unfairness it mirrors life. I can’t stand cheats tho.

9.) 14 May 2019 12:44:21
Roy, This is what i got from a quick google search:

Man City-
ARRIVALS 18/ 19 - £69.38m
DEPARTURES 18/ 19 - £48.69m

ARRIVALS 17/ 18 - £285.75m
DEPARTURES 17/ 18 - £82.22m

net = £224.22m

LFC -
ARRIVALS 18/ 19 - £163.98m
DEPARTURES 18/ 19 - £34.65m

ARRIVALS 17/ 18 - £156.49m
DEPARTURES 17/ 18 - £175.05m

net = 110.77

Obviously these numbers aren't entirely correct as they don't include agents fees and such, but we have not outspent City over the past 2 seasons. City also haven't had to sell they're best player at the time to fund a large portion of the transfers.

{Ed001's Note - they also do not include all the other signings City have made of young players and players that have been signed for loaning to Girona etc.}

10.) 14 May 2019 14:06:35
I dream of an alternate reality where City lose points for FFP.

That said I'm still a bit salty, it honestly could have gone either way, it gets tiring getting rubbish from every other fan, like if kompany had hit that screamer over the bar we would be here as PL champs. But we still get constant sh*t from other fans who's teams most likely lay down and let city bash them

I think it was eds01 said earlier on when we had some defensive injuries which probably cost us a draw rather than a win, if we powered through and got a result we would be PL champs.

I hope we beat spurs, and i hope we go on and win the league next year.

We had an amazing year, with 2 of the 3 golden boot winners, golden glove, VVD being Player of the year, CL final and hopefully winners. Only team to be able to give city a good go and take it to the final game.

I hope a few nice additions in summer just to add depth and cover where needed and we can go and win the PL next season :)

11.) 14 May 2019 16:13:39
Some moaning and excuses are getting boring now, who cares what city have spent or what their financial behaviour has been. We've spent big money too and are far from perfect in our behaviour.

This of all league seasons should be one where nothing but credit is given to both sides, all season I've listened to posters saying that every team just lies down and let city win easy. There's not a conspiracy out there that every manager and referee is out to get us.

City earned their 98 pts with a bit of fortune on the way

We earned our 97 pts with a bit of fortune on the way

I know the anguish is painful but it's over, "ifs and buts" are only prolonging the pain.

Let's look to June 1st folks and quit this nonsense,

Make it a rule that squad sizes (for over 21’s) are to be reduced to 16/ 17 players and that way the kids will be alright. None of this stockpiling malarkey and teams spending huge amounts on reserves. Can’t see a sensible fan in the land not being up for that.

When fit, Gomez is number one with Virgil. He was too good not to be. Anyone brought would be as cover IMO.

No one’s being aggressive, peeps jus layin down a slab of truth. There’ll be no quarter billion spending, but if one the big dogs leaves the yard then a new puppy will have to be sought. Howevs, the sentiment of a smaller net spend is more likely than the last two seasons, especially if we have spent beyond our means as Bro002 implied. Ya feel me?

Where does that figure come from? Is that just plucked out of the air? As 002 says, stay clear of finances because if Liverpool spend big money, rest assured it’s not done without due consideration.

Gotta disagree on the good business Ed. It’s good flaunting of the rules to be able to afford them “legitimately”. No conspiracy against anyone, just them getting away with it. We all get regularly told about those extra few percent which can make the difference at the end of the day. If they can outspend everyone illegitimately by just that few percent then they will always have the edge.

Redinthewrongway

{Ed025's Note - have they broken any rules RITWW?...not as far as i am aware mate, you seem to be a hang em before the trial sort of guy my friend..

So then, it’s a coming, should we remove all players from all squads that have been there for 2 years or less just to prove that LFC are the top spenders? Even then we still aren’t. We also won’t continue to spend at the same rate. But City will.

And yet, our prize money will be similar (probably more), our TV money is similar (probably more), gate attendances similar, international fan base is larger (for merch and commercial interest) etc, but LFC are approaching the edge of its means while City have all that extra FFP busting cash from where?

Oh yes, oversized sponsorships from affiliated companies and an investment group which hides, i mean, integrates wages and other costs.

Hmmm.

Welcome normal. I do get the excitement because its a new facet and gives hope of what is to come, but i think most of it is when either a “marquee” signing arrives or a glaring hole in the squad gets filled. This window, unless some crazy stuff happens, i’m not that fussed because we haven’t any desperate places that need filling.
