Any update on when young Harvey will return? This side of Christmas or beyond?

{Ed025's Note - after christmas at the earliest joe,,

1.) 31 Oct 2021 19:43:40
I think the emphasis is on ensuring the ankle is fully recovered. He is just a kid with a really promising future ahead of him. I think the club handle injuries really well these days and it’s all about ensuring the player is ready, which wasn’t the case back in the day.

I think we just have to be patient with his return and just focus on enjoying watching him play when he is actually fit enough to do so.

2.) 31 Oct 2021 20:25:30
Nothing to be gained in rushing the lad back. He was just getting regular first team playing time too, a bloody shame.

3.) 31 Oct 2021 22:09:48
When he first started for us I thought blimey this is a gamble, but how stupid was I taking into account what he done for Blackburn last season amongst men . Hope he gets back to what he loves and his progression will be joyful to watch.

4.) 01 Nov 2021 09:47:55
Watched him a good few times for Blackburn last year I thought he was still a bit weak. Was wrong in the regard he loves to get stuck in and has a proper brain for the game. Not many kids can go from playing on the wing to in the center at a high level at his age. Can't wait for the kid to come back.

5.) 01 Nov 2021 19:58:02
I fully agree RedJoe. I too though he was slightly lightweight but he has proved us wrong. Great both on and off the ball, what a miss he has been.

People happy with our squad now if we get that young lad carvahlo even better

Alisson, kelleher, adrian

Trent / williams
Gomez / virgil / konate / matip / phillips
Robbo / tsimikas

Fab / hendo / thiago / ox / Jones / keita / millie / morton / carvahlo?

Salah / mane / jota / Bobby / Diaz / origi / minamino

To be fair even without the.

1.) 30 Jan 2022 16:51:19
You missed out Elliot mate.

{Ed0666's Note - The jewel in the crown 🤴

2.) 30 Jan 2022 17:13:24
Just been contemplating this myself, wondering what the squad could look like by the end of the summer window. Call me fanciful but i’m very optimistic we’ll sign Bellingham and tie Salah down to a new contract. I think the squad could end up looking like this:

Alisson (Kelleher)
Alexander-Arnold (Williams)
Konate (Matip)
van Dijk (Gomez)
Robertson (Tsimikas)
Fabinho (Henderson)
Bellingham (Jones)
Thiago (Elliott)
Salah (Gordon)
Jota (Firmino)
Diaz (Carvalho)

Outs: Mane, Origi, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Phillips, Minamino, Milner, Adrian, Karius

Like i say call me deluded but i really do think that’s a realistic permutation of the squad in the near future!

3.) 30 Jan 2022 17:49:05
Aw and some squad that would be. For me I think Gordon has a long way to go to be a first team player.

Bobby is our 4th joint highest paid player and Mane is our 10th. Unless Bobby is happy to take a pay cut I don’t really see why we would extend his contract to be a back up player and not increase Manes despite him still producing good numbers on the pitch. And I know the answer is he has a higher sell on value but to sell Mane for 30 mill we’re going to have competitors biting our hands off to take him at that price.

Risky to possibly strengthen a rival and weaken us at that price. For me Mane gets into City, Chelsea, Utd, Arsenal, Spurs etc side or Mach today squad week in week out.

3 of the 6 forwards are unproven in the premier league.

With regards to Bellingham I think the reason we wouldn’t sign him is because his transfer will be an auction. And City and Chelsea will be involved in that and we aren’t outbidding them, regardless of where the player wants to go Dortmund have to accept any bid initially.

4.) 30 Jan 2022 17:58:51
Agreed JK. Really don’t get this clamour to get rid of mane. If he decides he doesn’t want to stay then fair enough but until then we should be keeping him at all costs. Not what he was but still the best LW in the league for me and I still believe he can bounce back.

Bellingham looks great but can’t see how we’ll be able to afford him. We do need a dm to come in for me. Hendo doesn’t seem capable of playing it and Thiago (though not a traditional DM) can’t be trusted to start majority of the league games. Bissouma would be great obviously.

5.) 30 Jan 2022 18:19:20
I’d prefer us to go for Bissouma at this stage over Bellingham, just because he’s tactically more adept and he’s far more disciplined in how he plays, so he can function in either the pressing role or a defensive midfielder if Fabinho isn’t there. He’s a stand out player at Brighton and he’s extremely hard to play against. Plus at this stage I’d imagine Dortmund would want stupid money to part with Bellingham that would put him out of our reach.

{Ed0666's Note - shame his discipline doesent extend off the pitch

6.) 30 Jan 2022 18:59:26
Bissouma would have been great if only he didn’t seem to be a bit of an arse. The rumours surrounding him could be unfounded but we’ve been here once before with Naby and i think it’s maybe best we stay away. If he can be cleared of wrongdoing and the staff at Liverpool are convinced his attitude can change then maybe, but I am not.

7.) 30 Jan 2022 18:40:24
Ed66, I read months back there were some charges against him but then read that may have been a mistake. Do we know what he’s meant to have done and if he’s still under investigation?

{Ed0666's Note - no idea but I hope he’s innocent as no one likes to see people in trouble with the law

8.) 30 Jan 2022 19:24:57
Alrite JK. I can’t see City going for Bellingham he gets no where near starting in their midfield for me. KDB and Silva are way ahead.

Not sure he gets in Chelsea’s midfield either.

9.) 30 Jan 2022 19:52:08
I agree, JK. Those who think Mane will leave just cos Diaz is here need to think again. Footie does not work that way. Klopp may decide to keep him for the final year of his deal and let him walk for services rendered or even extend his contract for another couple of years if possible and on reduced terms and if Mane agrees, why not? We have to see what happens.

10.) 30 Jan 2022 20:26:29
Think Bellingham gets in the middle of any team that buys him, at his age he's going to be improving greatly every year and he's already superb. Certainly starts straight away for us if we were to get him. And if the lad actually fancies playing for us then we have a chance.

11.) 30 Jan 2022 21:02:30
He is not suited to the holding role so who does he replace at City Jadon? Chelsea bossed both games against us from a midfield point of view. Bellingham would be a great signing for us no doubt and he can go on to be a true great but for me he wouldn’t get the game time needed at City.

12.) 30 Jan 2022 21:07:01
And what has Bellingham done exactly? Young raw talent at a terrible league for me. not saying he won't cut it in prem, but its a complete different ball game to the bundesliga. As for saying he gets in any midfield who buys him is ridiculous mate. I'd take bissouma over him anyday. and probably at half the price if that.

13.) 30 Jan 2022 21:22:08
@markp08. grealish dosent fit or get into there squad but they still forked out 100m for him?

14.) 30 Jan 2022 21:29:46
Four of our seven homegrown players - Milner, Ox, Gomez and Phillips- are regularly in the departure rumours. Just for that reason alone, I would go for Bellingham before Bissouma. And then there is the big bonus - I think Bellingham^s potential and upside is far greater than Bissouma's. There's a differrance in cost obviously, but then if you want to eat at the big boys' table, you better have the wallet for it.

15.) 30 Jan 2022 22:11:55
Since when do City worry if a player will get into their team before spending? They have an open chequebook they can afford to make expensive mistakes.
As for Chelsea bossing our midfield you must’ve watched those games with your eyes closed.

16.) 30 Jan 2022 22:14:37
@ArAy, like I said a while back, the club seem happy to pay the cost if they actually want someone.

What they won’t pay is massive amounts for squad players who are going to get limited game time. If we pay big money it is for a player who will be a regular in our starting eleven.

If we keep two of Thiago, Kieta, Millie and Ox (and I think we will), we will have Fabs, Hendo, Billy, Curtis, two of the above, young Morton coming through and perhaps one more of the youngsters coming through which will be enough for 22 / 23. But I’d love us to go for Bellingham in the summer of 23 when Thiago, Hendo and perhaps Fabs do not get as much game time.

17.) 30 Jan 2022 22:28:39
Very true Let. But I doubt even City would do it again. Bellingham will surely go somewhere to play. He seems like a step up in personality to Grelish.

18.) 30 Jan 2022 22:41:40
Hey up mark. It’s an interesting debate mate and one that only time will tell. If Bellingham is as good as people say he is then I very much expect City, Utd and Chelsea to be at the bidding table along with many others.

27 Jan 2022 10:06:03
Just a question for the lads

Is it success that has driven some of our fan base to being pessimistic about every new player that comes in? Or every decision that's made within the club

Litterally yet to see a player that's linked with us that hasn't been put down by a different section each time.

If people want to put down any links just quickly have a think to the days of us think in Milan jovanovic was going to get our club back on track lol the clubs come a long way and yes we maybe would want the owners to open their pockets but the reality is they won't and klopps done a class job so far without them doing so.

1.) 27 Jan 2022 10:25:42
I personally just think it is a sign of the times. Everyone these days is an armchair expert because of the vast amount of information available these day. When we did sign the likes of Jovanovic, all we had to go on was a couple of journalists opinions and some goals per game stats. Nowadays, with all the podcasts, ex-players and data/ stats readily available, people feel they know a player before he's even kicked a ball. I miss the old days.

2.) 27 Jan 2022 10:28:24
The team is aging to its absolute core and there is no sign of any major rebuild anywhere to be seen. We might lose one of our most prolific goal scorers when we should have had a young salah waiting in the wings already. We have had no money from years now.
We are building debt, We are borrowing money. We can't sell players. our squad is aging. we have partially or completely sold out future incomes.
not being pessimistic but what positive are you finding here?

3.) 27 Jan 2022 10:39:18
they get put down because there being compared to the current crop.

4.) 27 Jan 2022 11:07:57
I would say much of the feeling stems from the fact that Klopp and the club have had to make near perfect decisions to finally win the big trophies and level the playing field (on the pitch) with Guardiola's City.

Now that Klopp is into his final period with us and the longer it goes with little happening with regards to the rebuild, the more nervous the fanbase will get.

Going into 20/ 21 with 3 CBs (2 with poor injury records) was a red flag. The cut got deeper by not bothering to correct it in January 21 which saw the season completely slip away. Then by going into 21/ 22 not adding a more robust midfielder felt like history repeating itself.

I will contradict all of that with a wild claim that had we signed Bissouma (or someone of his ilk) in the summer we'd be top of the league with an almost perfect season to date. Fine margins eh! :)

Bring on the quadruple! Kidding. Not kidding. Kidding.

5.) 27 Jan 2022 12:20:28
Transition time what do you mean the team is ageing to the core exactly? Lol we have milner who is a rock yes he's old but other than that the majority are still under 30? Most players best years are between 27 to 32 so I don't get that argument at all pal sorry. Changes need to and will be made but what do you want us to sign another 5 naby keitas and **** ourselves up then become arsenal and have to throw youngsters in for the sake of it?

Things aren't really as bad as the picture you paint but that's your opinion I'm not here to change that just want to understand the whys behind your thinking.

Put things into perspective here we are still in 4 competitions so our squad can't be that bad can it?

6.) 27 Jan 2022 12:23:08
FPF fully get that but tbh mate it seems that no matter who we are interested in that the fans will have a target on their backs before they kick a ball. Some of our fanbase has became very toxic. Even if our owners wanted to we couldn't compete with city yet here we are competing with them. Teams never stay at the top forever so let's enjoy the ride.

7.) 27 Jan 2022 12:23:37
The search for perfection is futile.
I'm enjoying Klopp's imperfections though.

8.) 27 Jan 2022 12:36:50
Spot on @ Transition, @FlyPelican, We should of added a couple of top quality each season and especially this season, i'm with you that we would of been top of the league had we gone big, i think the owners saw City not getting a forward and wrote off any signings, won't be long before they sell up and go i hope.

9.) 27 Jan 2022 12:42:48
If we had signed an attacker and a midfielder in the summer we would be top of the league by an absolute margin. We simply did not and that is what is being questioned here.

10.) 27 Jan 2022 14:11:59
Second in the league, won all six of our Champions League games, through to a cup final. All of this crying and stamping of feet because our squad isn’t perfect is a little immature and embarrassing.

11.) 27 Jan 2022 14:42:44
Its the usual harry syndrome. If City had signed Kane harry would be gagging on their page as we speak. In that case would we be leading by absolute margin? How much is absolute btw.

12.) 27 Jan 2022 14:53:10
I don't know if its just me but the last year or two from a bunch of Liverpool fans is a sense of entitlement or just pure expectation to sign top players every window win everything win every game and if it doesn't happen its a complete disappointment and we are in meltdown the 0-0 with Arsenal the other week was mental. as Thunderbird said yes were behind in the league but the team will push but we are red hot in the champions league, into a final for a cup and into the next round for another cup. doesn't feel like a fading squad to me. yes the squad needs a bit of refresh but January is not the time to do that.

13.) 27 Jan 2022 15:22:30
To me it feels more like a self entitlement from some fans that others aren’t allowed an opinion that differs to theirs 🤷🏻‍♂️.

14.) 27 Jan 2022 15:23:05
Who's crying and stamping their feet Thunder? Because some aren't happy with the investment in the squad their opinion is worth less than others who still think we are living in 2010? United had over a decade of constant success, not sporadic success but constant because they made signings, every summer, freshening up, it's not rocket science to know that someone new and adding competition kicks players on, we're doing well but every game, season, window we have to improve, sure there's some German guy that says it after nearly every match.

15.) 27 Jan 2022 16:11:21
Lancaster, I also seem to remember United giving lots of opportunities to young players, the likes of Giggs, Beckham, Sharpe, Butt, Scholes, Neville, Brown, Fletcher, O'Shea. I would rather Liverpool add one or two quality players each summer, the likes of Jota, Thiago and Konate and give a chance to players like Elliott, Jones, Morton and Gordon. Like I said earlier, we could still win 4 trophies this season, I don't know about you but that sounds pretty successful to me.

16.) 27 Jan 2022 16:55:14
If it wasn't for MCFC our recent seasons would be 1st/ 1st/ 2nd and in the lead this season, not bad against 3 of the riches clubs in world football.

{Ed0666's Note - imagine what the league positions would be without klopp????

17.) 27 Jan 2022 17:40:36
A lot of posters upset themselves buy developing a hard on for certain players. They are so convinced that he is the right fit that they never consider the fact that Klopp maybe doesn't want them, even if he acknowledges that they are a good player.
Many others simply choose to ignore the fact that C.V. put a big dent in our finances, and think that FSG should throw money round like confetti to make up for it. And a few just make it up as they go along - "we've been promised big transfers" that nobody else ever heard.
Like a night out n Amsterdam, transfer windows bring them out of the woodwork.

18.) 27 Jan 2022 17:41:04
Thunder bird, I’ll have I bet with you now win don’t win 4 trophies, I’ll go as far as saying we won’t win 2.

19.) 27 Jan 2022 17:12:56
Ed066 Klopp is the glue that’s held us together and the driving force.

City’s signing of Jack Grealish last summer took Guardiola’s spending to the brink of the £1bn mark, to £963.3m and a net spend of £580.1m when player sales are added to the financial mix.
Klopp has spent £512.1m in the transfer market, shrinking to a net spend of £151.7mi when player sales are added.
So Liverpool have been operating with an annual net spend in the transfer market of around £25m during Klopp’s tenure, with Guardiola’s annual net spend almost four times that figure at £96.6m.

20.) 27 Jan 2022 17:41:33
United still sign players and freshen the squad up every season. How are they doing now?

21.) 27 Jan 2022 18:30:40
All the more reason to give him more players ed666.

22.) 27 Jan 2022 19:48:51
Irish I think the difference is mate.

Utd spend money without a plan and

We plan on spending no money.

23.) 27 Jan 2022 20:04:53
Its true the squad is aging but *uck me there's a lot of football left in the lads yet. salahs fitness and ability in my eyes sees him at the top of most scoring charts for another four years. most of the lads aren't even 30 yet.
Not for one second do I believe klopp would leave us in the *hit before he departs, be happy and grateful for the best time in 30-40 years 😁.

24.) 27 Jan 2022 21:14:10
A lot of people forget we have a great crop of young players at the club.

Elliot is still to return, we also have Jones both of whom are progressing the more they play. van Den Berg at Preston is having a very good season as well. Players such Gomez, Konate and Tsimikas are all still young as well. Looking further back we also have Morton, Musilewski, Beck, Bradley etc. I would say it’s doom and gloom plus there will no doubt be signings this summer (Carvallho hopefully one) .

25.) 27 Jan 2022 21:27:32
That should say “wouldn’t say it was doom and gloom”.

26.) 28 Jan 2022 00:42:33
Jones Red I'm with you here, if we sign an expensive midfielder does Curtis Jones get a game? Does klopp change the style of the team for elliot to get a game? I highly doubt it. People want to sign top players that score goals but do we not have the 2 highest scorers in the Premier league? Lol I'm just confused by it all I feel fifa 22 fever has set in lol.

09 Dec 2021 10:36:46
Question for ed002

With what eventually looks like mandatory vaxs being brought in what will happen regarding any players contracts that refuse and can't play. Will the clubs still be liable to pay them etc.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of such plans.}

21 Nov 2021 21:44:09
Not sure which Ed would be best to answer this but regarding our last 2 champions league games are we able to just test the majority of our players or is there a rule stating that we must play a team of players that have already played in the competition for us this or something.

{Ed002's Note - Clubs are expected to not field a weakened team and can be punished for doing so - but it is rare and usually argued against.}

1.) 21 Nov 2021 21:55:53
If they are named in the CL squad surely you can play any combination of them?

{Ed002's Note - See my answer.}

2.) 21 Nov 2021 22:05:17
Thanks Ed, you're just missing the cutting remarks of 025:)
Can I ask how you have such great inside knowledge of all things transfer/ rumour related?

{Ed002's Note - I am omnipotent.}

3.) 21 Nov 2021 22:58:07
If we lose both games and give up 6 points to Porto it could be the difference between them or Atleti progressing. Either way, to be sure of avoiding being criticised we have to aim to win both games.

4.) 21 Nov 2021 23:13:29
You know you can get pills over the counter for that now Ed?

5.) 21 Nov 2021 23:14:09
Would be great to see Morton and Gordon Start on Wednesday.

6.) 22 Nov 2021 01:19:56
I say give some of the young kids a shot and a run out against good competition. We need to know who is ready to step up, especially with a crucial Jan-Feb period coming. More than anything, make sure Origi and Minamino are pushed into good form by getting game time whenever possible. It's going to be a very tight May.

7.) 22 Nov 2021 05:15:49
Gordon wasn’t in the nominated squad prior to the competition started so he won’t be playing.

Interesting point that JK made after we qualified - along the lines of the bonus money for winning group games has to be taken into account. It was more interesting that he was immediately aware of it rather than he was actually committed to doing anything about it.

{Ed0666's Note - he also said he doesn't want to disappoint and disrespect the thousands of traveling fans by putting out a weakened to watch their heroes play. I think we’ll probably see the likes of Milner, Konate, keita, minamino, origi, Williams etc be playing tho.

8.) 22 Nov 2021 14:53:45
I’d imagine FSG are more interested in that bonus Bonus money more than Klopp.

9.) 22 Nov 2021 19:01:37
The one player I really want to start is Phillips. He deserves it, after what he did for us last season.

{Ed0666's Note - he deserves it for the sake of his career

10.) 22 Nov 2021 19:16:50
There was a double bonus?

11.) 23 Nov 2021 02:46:59
Agree JK23 but I think Klopp has all his synapses wired correctly and any cash gained might influence the approval of buying a player (or two - dare to dream) in the January window) .

14 Nov 2021 22:59:26
Couple of questions for ed0002.

When players are away on international duty do they still get paid by their clubs? Or wouldeach individual fa cover their wages for the time they are away

Secondly if a player gets injured on international duty, would the club get compensation from the players fa like when Joe gonez got injured long term last season who paid his wages then seems unfair to expect the club to pay a player that didn't get injured working for them

Third and last would clubs or international fa's pay any insurance companies for situations like that?

{Ed002's Note - (a) They are paid by the clubs. (b/c) Most internatiopnal sides insure their players but many African nations do not.}

Completely with you aray1969 these type of deals are pushing me further away from the game now.

In terms of money it's nothing short of a Jurgen klopp miracle that we are able to keep tabs on the likes of city who can just splash when they like. Wages will just keep going up and up and the only teams that'll be soon able to afford them are the likes of psg and city no matter what way its painted.

Something seriously needs done about it but nothing will. Isn't the uefa president best mates with the psg president or something along those lines? Says it all really.

Well we have to be honest here lads mane won't be first choice on the left next season, if he wants a new contract he will want to match what salah gets (if he signs) I think now wouldn't be a bad time to let him move on and maybe freshen things up.

Im not really worried about haaland to city right now something screams out that haaland will be demonised with injuries and will he get much space to run in behind like he does at dortmund? I'm not sure but never be worried about who our rivals sign I'm sure interest in mane to leave isn't a shock.

Maybe gnabry in return?

We have to remember our club will have to be creative in how we replace our ageing players and trust that klopp has the right ideas in mind as always.

Ed002 regarding this Liverpool can speak to the players agent and make an agreement with them that the agent can agree with the player am I right? So is it not basically the same thing mate? Watched a thing between carra and nev and nev was told to speak with stevie at international duties so realistically if this all happens what is wrong with any other way of doing it?

{Ed002's Note - If it is the same thing then it is of course illegal and tapping up (yet again).}

Don't come off with that old united fan lark ed25 football success does not solely rest on winning the English league even though the media would have you believe that. You live in a country where the league is hyped up like it is its own super league there is more to football than just it. Not putting down anyone's achievements for winning it just saying its not the only metric for success.

{Ed025's Note - but it is really joe, cups are fine mate but you know as well as me that the prem title is the golden nugget...come on just admit it.. :)

Honestly think people are being way too harsh on salah he is still contributing to the team hugely in terms of space being created for other players to operate. People seriously need to stop questioning his attitude I'm seeing it more and more and its nothing short of a joke. He's a winger not a goalscorer as it just happens he gets goals because he's just that good. Maybe it's only right that the rest of the team are now chipping in and winning games?

They will do exactly that shughes but I would fully expect us to roll them over. They are 7th in probably the worst la liga for a number of years let's not forget that. 2 up at half time in the game they'll have to come out a bit so we will have a good few chances to kill the tie off.
