Hello Eds.
I've come across a certain rumour pertaining to Kylian Mbappe via a French Outlet. Any truth to it? Are we interested in him? Thanks in advance.

Redlad99

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea what the rumour is but do you really think Liverpool are going to spend over £200m on one player?}

1.) 15 May 2019 09:40:42
zero chance. I thought Griezman would be possible but looks Barcelona bound as do many players.

2.) 15 May 2019 10:46:09
mbappe doesn't seem like a liverpool player.

{Ed002's Note - Surely not.}

3.) 15 May 2019 11:18:17
We are not spending £250m on a player!

4.) 15 May 2019 11:26:01
Can confirm the French outlet you speak of was a knock off twitter account, using someones name. not a real rumour.

{Ed002's Note - Exciting times. Maybe it was just the Fat Kid From Bolton again?}

5.) 15 May 2019 12:22:50
Non-zero chance.

Mbappe becomes possible if Mane or Salah is sold.

{Ed002's Note - Mbappe is not moving to Liverpool regardless of who is sold.}

6.) 15 May 2019 12:42:01
Ed002 and Griezmann? He said he is going to leave this season and we were interested in him before.

{Ed002's Note - Griezmann is another not moving to Liverpool.}

7.) 15 May 2019 12:54:12
Jeepers ed! With so many players not moving to Liverpool how are we going to have a squad at all!? :/.

8.) 15 May 2019 13:46:26
With no Griezmann, and no Mbappe, how are we supposed to compete with all these clubs we're already competing with?

Wait. Is it finally time, after all these years, for Aguero?

9.) 15 May 2019 15:15:13
I think we are in a good position to finally bring in Simao!

10.) 15 May 2019 15:49:59
Ed002, our friend from Bolton is currently peddling the rumour that we have a chance with De Ligt. That, and Barcelona offering Coutinho to LFC.
To his credit, not even he is willing to stake his 'reputation' on Mbappe to LFC.

{Ed002's Note - With Werner and Demirbay and all of the others already agreed I am not sure there is a need for Mbappe.}

11.) 15 May 2019 16:25:20
Ed002, you are such a wind up. Remember we will likely lose Lallana and Sturridge so it's obvious we need cover for them. Mbappe and Werner on the bench seems nailed on right?

12.) 15 May 2019 16:36:45
Wait. Is it finally time, after all these years, for Aguero?
===============================

Is that Ken Aguero Alvy . the poor sod been waiting for his dream move for many years now.

13.) 15 May 2019 16:39:32
I really think Werner would be a huge signing for the club. Shame his sights are on Bayern this summer. But who knows, maybe he’ll do a u-turn and realise we’re the new loaf in the bakery.

14.) 15 May 2019 13:46:26

15.) 15 May 2019 18:38:53
Where’s Gaston Ramirez when you need him?

16.) 15 May 2019 19:23:19
Wilf Zaha
Matt Doherty
Ryan Sessegnon
Andre gomes
Diego Jota
Any 3 from 5 unless Salah goes then get em all.

17.) 15 May 2019 19:46:21
A French Fat Kid from Bolton? Le gros enfant de Bordeaux, perhaps?

@ BobbyF - Lallana played very few games due to injury (and played well enough that I wouldn't be actively looking to show him the door) and Sturridge didn't play all that many more. Oxlade-Chamberlain and Brewster will be back fit, I think they'll pick up any slack from the departure of Lallana and Sturridge.

18.) 15 May 2019 23:22:46
The French always lie when it comes to Liverpool. I remember them saying Bruno Cheyrou was the new Zidane and David Ngog was a footballer! Oh how they must’ve laughed :-/.

19.) 16 May 2019 01:08:15
Becker's, how can you leave out Sinama Pongolle and Le Tallec?

20.) 16 May 2019 07:50:03
how can you leave out Sinama Pongolle and Le Tallec? - Exactly the future of French football.

21.) 16 May 2019 08:53:52
Aint there two Kylian Mbappe's in France? one at PSG and other some 11-year old that was linked with them. Maybe is the latter.

22.) 16 May 2019 10:36:37
I liked Pongolle he was a decent young player so I left him out of France’s web of lies. As for Le Tallec, the fact that we apparently signed him instead of CR7 is a prime example of the lies and deceit these Frenchmen have peddled us for many years!

23.) 16 May 2019 10:45:31
Karius and a bag of balls and bibs, fair swap for Mbappe? They need a top keeper.

{Ed001's Note - and they will still need one after that deal. Unless the bag is a very big bag and fills the goal mouth.}

24.) 16 May 2019 11:08:12
A bit unfair on Karius there Ed001. At his best, he is better than grandpa Buffon and spilly hands Areola.

{Ed001's Note - I disagree, Areola is a better keeper.}

25.) 16 May 2019 13:35:45
I've got to say that Aerola sounds a bit of a tit.

26.) 16 May 2019 16:40:28
Well played wolf.

27.) 16 May 2019 16:52:58
Underrated comment.

28.) 17 May 2019 20:33:55
I have a couple of signed shirts from Pongolle! Anyone want to swap them for a Werthers Original?

29.) 18 May 2019 12:02:57
@SomethingRed. 😂

Is Le gros enfant de Bordeaux called Mbappe by any chance? 😄.

Good morning Ed's,

Do you have any news on our status on DeLigt, and what the possibility if for the Dutchman to join us in the summer? Thanks in advance.

Redlad99

{Ed002's Note - There is no Liverpool status on Matthijs de Ligt and he won't be joining Liverpool I am afraid.}

1.) 28 Apr 2019 10:30:52
Don’t feel sorry Redlad.
Gomez is the better player, imho, and certainly quicker.

2.) 28 Apr 2019 11:55:42
You have to be realistic Redlad, it would mean either de ligt or Gomez sitting on the bench that is never going to happen. It is the same reason why we won't buy £100m forwards as it would mean they or Firmino would be benched.

It is going to be very hard to find players in the summer because our first 11 is now so much better. I expect 2 back up defenders who can push for starts and a player like Brandt who would offer something different. Modric though would be my first choice but doesn't seem much chance.

Hello Eds. A lot of speculation has been doing the rounds with respect to a return of Coutinho to Liverpool. Carragher and Thompson have also voiced out their opinion on it, but is there any genuine interest from our side to bring him back? Thanks in advance.

Redlad99

{Ed002's Note - Read the posts.}

1.) 18 May 2019 10:35:55
I wouldn't want him back if he was free mate, not welcome, he can bugger off to Chelsea or somewhere like that for me.

2.) 18 May 2019 10:37:37
OP, If any club is rumored to be interested in Cou, it is Chelsea and even that is not concrete at any level cos they have other options they are looking at. Cou is of NO interest to LFC IMO as that ship has effectively sailed (and the thumping he received along with his Barcelona mates should be all the proof anybody needs), and LONG may that continue.

3.) 18 May 2019 10:54:28
The AM-sized hole that still exists in our team is testament, IMO, that Coutinho has never been properly replaced.
We have other targets almost certainly though.
I’d hate to see him back in the PL.

{Ed001's Note - he almost never played at AM so how can that be even slightly true? He played on the left for us almost exclusively.}

4.) 18 May 2019 10:56:22
He’s a good player to come off the bench 🤝.

5.) 18 May 2019 11:04:29
WE can get Brandt or Fekir for a fraction of what Coutinho would cost and his wages. Plus, Fekir and Brandt do not have long standing back problems.

6.) 18 May 2019 11:08:50
haha Coutinho rumours come on will ya who would he replace? There is no player in the squad I would swap for him. NO, NO just NO.

7.) 18 May 2019 11:12:03
I’m grateful for Coutinho’s contribution when he was at Anfield, player of the season for at least 2 of the years he was here.
We had a poorer team in general during his time and he did carry us on many occasions IMO.
I’m not happy about the way a move was engineered but that’s modern day football for you.

The team now is much better than when PC was in his pomp at Liverpool. Indeed the team’s overall intensity and workload has increased massively.
I think PC would be a bit lost in this team if he came back and I think it would take him a long time to recover that intensity if it was possible.
I just don’t see him as a Klopp signing, our players need to be constantly busy - like a Brandt or Fekir - and I don’t see that in PC.

8.) 18 May 2019 11:24:34
Brandt does not want to join and fekir is old news
kai havertz is the one trust me guys
this kid is going to be a star
barring that bergwijn is the player i think most suits us right now other then kai.

9.) 18 May 2019 11:31:15
Never mind the price or whether Coutinho is interested in the move. He is not good enough for our team anymore. He wouldn't get near the starting line-up and you don't pay circa £100m for an impact sub. I honestly don't think he's much better than Shaqiri. Run, cut inside, shoot, repeat. He has nothing else to his game. That is why since selling him we've gone from the fringes of the top 4 to being Champions League and Premier League contenders. He is over rated. Move on guys.

10.) 18 May 2019 11:34:59
Havertz going Bayern. Maybe bring grujic in? Ziyech or depay for the wings?

11.) 18 May 2019 11:49:53
Target Son instead 👍.

12.) 18 May 2019 12:01:57
Son would cost more than Coutinho was.

13.) 18 May 2019 12:22:27
Agreed Johncrow, if we signed only one player this summer i would love it to be Havertz.

14.) 18 May 2019 14:22:25
I think coutinho was holding us back very selfish on the ball and not a team player think munchenglassbach may take.

15.) 18 May 2019 17:02:24
If he’s not good enough for Barcelona then why would we want him. Simples!

16.) 18 May 2019 17:32:59
Ron, Cou never carried us for "many occasions". In fact on many occasions, he went missing during games for us. He was a good player for us and made a huge contribution to our revival under Klopp (I remember him playing sick vs Stoke 3 seasons ago and helped us win a CL spot), just like Can, Klavan, Milner, Studge and Lallana (if the last 3 leave this season) did before him BUT let's not start over-blowing his contribution or say he "carried us on many occasions". That is not true.

17.) 19 May 2019 14:43:25
Why is Fekir not an option? I think he certainly is. If memory serves me right (and I'm not trying to bring up the past or start any kind of controversial subject) LFC made a public declaration that they were no longer interested in VVD, after the string of events, and then bought him 3-4 months later. So basically anything can happen. It's all about identifying a need and fulfilling that need.

I liked the look of Ziyech against Spurs. He was very unlucky to have two clean shots bounced back by the post. If they had gone in, we would have a different opponent for the CL Final. Shades of Firmino too, with chasing the ball all around the field like a madman.

Hey eds,
Ive come across a certain rumour stating Klopp is interested in bringing Jerome Boateng to Anfield. Any truth to it? Thanks in advance.

Redlad99

{Ed002's Note - None that I am aware of.}

1.) 11 May 2019 16:05:05
Hopefully only as backup to Gomez and if both Matip and Lovren leave. From memory, his experience in the PL with City was quite poor and at 30 (? ) it's probably a bit too late to for him now I reckon.

2.) 11 May 2019 19:09:31
Boateng would only make a marginal difference over Lovren and Matip. Could be slightly better, and/ or, even slightly worse. And he's a year older than Lovren and 3 years older than Matip. So it's hardly worth it to make this kind of change.
