With the season starting Saturday, would be interested to know what’ all the Ed’s predictions are for the top four?
{Ed002's Note - I think Liverpool are well placed but Manchester City, Chelsea and Manchester United will all make a fist of challenging better that they did last season. So my decision today is Liverpool, Chelsea, Manchester City and maybe Spurs to push Manchester United for fourth.}

Personally think Liverpool and City will go right down to the wire for the title. Chelsea's squad looks extremely bloated and lopsided imo. Can see some very unhappy players in a few months time due to lack of game time (Mount, Tammy, CHO and Loftus Cheek) . But there is too much talent to not get in the top3 at least.
If Spurs sign a few decent defenders, I can see Jose get them into the top4 at the expense of Man Utd.

Liverpool, arsenal, City, Chelsea, in that order. Think City will slip further back (unless they get Koulibaly), think Chelsea will still concede a fair few, and think arsenal could surprise plenty with a stronger back 4/ 5 this season.

Klopp knows what he’s doing. He sees the players day in day out and we are just mere fans with opinions which is great. If Klopp spunks our entire transfer budget on a new tea lady then he has my backing.

OP, it will be q question of priorities and what Klopp needs we need the most. I do not think we need a forward anymore, IMO esp. if Brewster and Origi are kept with Minamino coming into his own right now.
It will now be down to Thiago or a CB and Klopp will have to choose based on where we we need to strengthen the more btw midfield and the defence. We can always debate Klopp's decisions and that's fine. We however, have to back whatever decision he makes, regardless of what we think.

If we lost Gini we need a midfielder period. He’s a starter in our strongest 11. Lovren was our 4th choice CB we can premier youth or buy a cheap alternative when we sell Karius Wilson etc.

Minamino, Div, Ox and Brewster are all at their best playing centrally. If we lose Mane for a couple of months we are immediately less threatening. Id like to see another versatile forward added if we can find a couple of spare pennies.

We'd only have Fabinho, Henderson, Keita, Oxlade-Chamberlain, Jones, Milner and Grujic to play CM if we did that. Not enough there at all.

If we sell gini but don't bring anyone else in then it might be too big a ask to expect fabinho, hendo, Milner, Keita, Ox, Jones and Grujic to cover 3 position. Who the heck is going to playing the cup games?

Something Red and Faithinworks, that is 7 players you've both reeled off! Last season we also had Gini, Lallana and Chirivella admittedly but if Grujic stays and Jones steps up to become more of a regular then i don't see the issue. Especially not if Klopp is going to utilise the 4-2-3-1 more this season to get Minamino into the side. If Gini and Grujic do both go then we absolutely need to go and get Thiago (which is what i expect to happen) . But if either of them stay then Thiago is just a luxury signing, as much as i hate to admit it.

IDreamOfGini, Ox will be used more on the wing, IMO even if I think that is not his best position.

We def have strength in depth but I think the biggest challenge we will have is the luck of injuries and keeping all fit and available. If Gini was to leave his ability to be available more or less every game like VVD, Mo, Bobby and Mané would be the biggest loss. Not saying we have injury prone players but Gomez and Matip always seem to pick up niggles around the same time as each other. Looking at our midfield options Hendo has had injury issues as well as Fab. Then we have Ox, Naby and Shaq who seem to pick up niggles every other week. Milner is coming to the end of his playing years, Grujic still seems unfancied by Klopp. The biggest boost is Jones replacing Lallana who was injury prone himself. Yes we have strength in depth but if we get 3 or 4 injuries then that strength in depth will be spread thin. On the other side of the coin though we could end up going the season without any of those mentioned picking up injuries.

Ed01, does that suggest Klopp may keep him then even tho WP issues exist? cos personally, I would not mind Grujic being kept cos he has definitely improved during his two year loan at Hertha. Cheers, man.
{Ed001's Note - the club want to sort the work permit issues and keep him for the long term if possible. That doesn't mean he won't go if the right offer came in though, because everyone knows that he could play every week in most teams.}

I still don’t think the club will spend 25 to 30m on a 29 old, don’t forget will still need another central defender that’s probably going to cost between 15 and 20m, no way we have the money to spend over 50m this summer.

All reports are saying we have agreed a four year deal with the player not his club, unless we agree something with Bayern it doesn’t mean a thing, not starting to get hopes up on this latest news.
