Hi eds heard from an arsenal mate that Arteta is keen on signing Jones this summer. Any truth in this?

Redwillis1

{Ed002's Note - Curtis Jones (CM) I am not aware of any approach to Liverpool by Arsenal at this time but I am aware that his agent says assurances were given when a new contract was signed that he would not remain a bit part player at the club - whilst he remains very much on the fringes.}

1.) 03 Jan 2024 09:32:06
Jones won’t be leaving and would cost any team 80 million plus can’t see anyone ready to pay that. Thank God.

2.) 03 Jan 2024 11:07:03
Is he ‘still very much on the fringes’? Seems very much a first team regular now.

{Ed002's Note - He is not a regular starter with the likes of Mac Allister, Szoboszlai, Gravenberch, Elliott and Thiago ahead of him when all fit.}

3.) 03 Jan 2024 12:03:41
A lot of that is down to his own injury issues, he always seems to get a good run of form and then breaks down with an injury and then has to work his way back into the team and that’s how it should be for everyone.
Let’s hope injuries are behind him and he continues to play like this for the second half of the season.

4.) 03 Jan 2024 12:04:16
If he plays like he did against Newcastle he will become a first choice starter.

5.) 03 Jan 2024 12:33:30
Jones plays in the left 8 position. The only player directly competing with him for this spot is gravenberch. Maybe Thiago also when fit, but he will be dropped into games sparingly for the remainder of the season I feel. Jones isn't on the fringes at alll, one of the first names on the team sheet on current form. Klopps recent selections show this too with his selection in key games so far this season.

{Ed002's Note - The "left 8 position" eh? He is hardly "one of the first names on the teamsheet" - how many minutes has he played so far this season? Would he be starting these games if Mac Allister were fit?

6.) 03 Jan 2024 14:08:10
Ed002, if all were fit, don't you think Klopp would still be putting Macca into the 6 role more often than not?
As good as he has been, I can't see Endo starting most games with Macca and am not sure Klopp's first choice midfield would be Endo, Macca and Szoboslai.

{Ed002's Note - I understand Endo has done very well - well enough for the club to not be looking at Trindade, Phillips etc. any longer.}

7.) 03 Jan 2024 14:39:39
There are not that many nailed on starters in this team.
Salah, VVD, AB, TAA, Robertson (when fit) and probably that's it.
1 centre back from Konate, JG, Quansah and Matip (before injury)

Probably 3 mids from Endo, Mac, Szobo, Graven, Jones.
If Endo nailed the no. 6, then together I see Szobo and Mac as the first choice, but Jones and Graven will see plenty of time. Just like JG will do in defence. In fact, I do not think eiter Mac and Szobo have done enough to nail down a definite starting position
So, Jones should have a good chance still if he stay fit and consistent to nail down a position.

Same situation up front.
Who would you say is the first choice 3.
Unlike Firmino, Mane and Salah, now, it is really a good fight between Diaz, Nunez, Gakpo and Jota.
Diaz seemed to have edged ahead, and Gakpo.
And then Nunez jumped the queue, and Jota was missed when unavailable.

I think it is a healthy dynamics.
Have we had a fit Thiago, I would say the team barring freak accidents like those happening to our 2 left backs, we are well stocked.

8.) 03 Jan 2024 14:47:53
That pretty confirms what I feared. Endo is now our #1 DM, with Mac Allister to moonlight there. Add to that Endo will be away until mid-Feb as Japan and no date for Bajcetic return. They sure are very relaxed about it all. More than me anyway.

9.) 03 Jan 2024 15:17:01
It’s going very well but when you have 5 midfielders out that is obviously a massive potential issue. Curtis now will get the game time he craves. He only has a handful of PL goals and assists to his name now is his time to really kick on.

10.) 03 Jan 2024 15:33:45
Jones has made 19 appearances in all competitions this season. 12 in the premier league but he did have the suspension and a small injury I think. I think he has moved up in the pecking order, I hope he has at least because I think he's been very good this season and it's always nice to see the local lads do well.

11.) 03 Jan 2024 16:13:20
Jones plays on the left side of the midfield 3. Soboz plays on the right and macallister plays at the 6.

They don’t interchange often due to the relationships built between the left back and left winger and same for the right side. Nothing too complicated here to grasp.

Unless we do buy a player like Andre, which will then move macallister into jones position, I think jones will play first choice over gravenberch.

Jones has played started 7 games this year in the PL but don’t forget he was injured for 4 games and suspended for 3 so that figure should be lots higher. He’s only been an unused sub once all season.

12.) 03 Jan 2024 17:59:56
I think for Jones to become a regular he has to better more often. He seems to string a few good games then goes off the boil. If he plays like he did against Newcastle regularly they’d be no discussion. For me he should be ahead of Gravenberch who has been the least good acquisition. Endo is doing well and has surprised me and all credit to him.

13.) 03 Jan 2024 18:17:56
For me Endo has made the 6 his to lose now. He's come on leaps. Jones on current form I don't see how he wouldn't be first choice. Grav has some nice parts to his game but has been poor of late. Nice to have the competition for places. One injury tho is all it takes to make the decisions easier for Klopp.

14.) 03 Jan 2024 19:01:44
The only thing stopping jones being a regular is his injuries.

15.) 03 Jan 2024 19:06:32
Would be great to have them all fully fit at some point this season. Baj would definitely start for me.

16.) 03 Jan 2024 19:25:45
Ed002 didn't say Jones was promised to be a regular starter. He said he wouldn't be a bit part player and he isn't. LFC have played in 29 games so far this season. Jones has played in 19 of them and ranks 15th in the squad for both matches played and total minutes accrued, all that with an injury to boot. It is obvious that Klopp rates him and for me he is first choice midfielder at the moment given Szlobs recent dip. He's obviously not a bit part player so nothing to see here.

17.) 03 Jan 2024 19:30:33
And the suspension of course. Forgot about that.

18.) 03 Jan 2024 22:15:57
Jones has been available for 21 games and featured in 19 of them. 12 of them were starts including against Spurs, Newcastle, City, Villa and Arsenal. So not only is he not a bit part player, Klopp also trusts him in nearly every big game he's been available for.

19.) 04 Jan 2024 12:08:46
Jones has become a regular starter as much as you can be in a top premier league team. No top team will play the same players week in week out so if anyone is expecting to never be dropped then they might have an issue wherever they go.

To say that Jones is still on the fringes though is just ludicrous. He is fast becoming one of the best midfield players we have and the amount of times he’s picked in big games proves it.

20.) 04 Jan 2024 17:58:20
Fringes may not be the best way to describe Jones current situation, but you can't say his future is all that clear either. The club is actively looking for another midfielder to play in the role that MacAllister has been covering this year, and should one be added, Mac's going to be first choice on the left side of that midfield 3. Gravenberch is going to still get a lot of minutes too. Jones would give Arsenal something is currently lacks in its midfield, so a move could make sense.

Do I want to see him leave? Of course not. But it may make sense for him to do so, if he wants to get minutes in a PL/ CL contending side.

21.) 04 Jan 2024 17:59:05
Mac Alister is being used as a 6, Dom is playing primarily on the right, as is Elliot who isn’t a guaranteed starter anyway, Gravenberch seems destined to start from the bench and Thiago hasn’t played in nearly a year. Jones on the other hand, was a regular starter for the last three months of last season and has started on a regular basis on the left hand side. this season - the only real exception being when he was suspended. Maybe your notes on the squad need a bit of tweaking.

22.) 04 Jan 2024 18:00:02
The main 3 midfielders when all fit have been Jones, Dom and Mac in the 6. Even last year it seemed Jones had cemented his place in the first team when he was fit to play and this year he's kicked on even more.

23.) 04 Jan 2024 18:01:39
@MK, after the Newcastle match Klopp called Jones the leader for our pressing game. Just another fishing trip.

24.) 05 Jan 2024 18:25:40
Touchy Touchy ?.

25.) 05 Jan 2024 20:19:31
What’s touchy about correcting something that is factually incorrect? Aren’t we all supposed to be grown-ups?

07 Jun 2023 07:06:08
Hi eds, is there any truth to this Kessie rumour that we've bid 35 million for him or is this just recycled from last summer?

Redwillis1

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of a bid being made but the third party looking to broker a sale says Klopp is keen.}

1.) 07 Jun 2023 11:52:57
Ed, when you quite often say 3rd party, what does this usually mean?

{Ed002's Note - It would typically be an agent not directly tied to the player representing the family or player's agent when they are not licensed in the country of the club. In Germany, Switzerland and Austria there needs to also be an approved lawyer involved in transfers, and clubs typically use the lawyers associated with the agents handling their sale or have those they retain themselves.}

2.) 07 Jun 2023 13:09:07
Hey Ed002 - you don't half know loads about footy!

3.) 07 Jun 2023 14:35:45
ED02~ if there’s an extra agent to be paid then surely he’s coming to LFC, knowing how much the club love paying those fees out!

4.) 07 Jun 2023 20:13:49
Is Kessie any good? Only seen him play once and he was pretty poor.

5.) 07 Jun 2023 20:46:32
Hopefully it involves thiago going the other way. He just isn't available for enough games to be relied upon.

16 Jun 2022 12:26:59
Hi eds, Is it true that we are looking at signing Jobe Bellingham, Judes younger brother?

Redwillis1

{Ed002's Note - Jobe Bellingham (CM) Manchester United, Chelsea, Liverpool, Borussia Dortmund, Sunderland, West Ham, and no doubt many others have been showing an interest in the player who is probably best off where he is for a year or two.}

1.) 17 Jun 2022 07:36:48
Sunderland casually getting thrown in there hahaha.

2.) 17 Jun 2022 08:09:39
Well a lot of fans calling for us to buy Bellingham, most didn't specify which so frugal option to buy the younger brother and say " oh you meant the other one " ???.

{Ed025's Note - more chance of Linda Bellingham joining ..?

3.) 17 Jun 2022 08:25:13
Jordan Henderson would surely approve!

4.) 17 Jun 2022 00:50:28
Nobody is better off in Birmingham Ed02 ??.

It may be that we don't have the legs in midfield anymore. It may be that we've tried to change the way we play and it doesn't work. What it seems like to me is a mentality thing. Maybe created in part by those issues but from what I'm seeing the mentality monsters have turned into mouses. When there was abit of fire in the game after that xhaka vs trent thing then all of sudden we start going full throttle again and giving it 100%. Might be partly because we don't really have anything to play for anymore but it's abit pathetic for me. They look like they're not trying and I think the players need to take a long hard look at themselves coz it shouldn't take abit of needle to get them going.

Redwillis1

1.) 10 Apr 2023 09:42:50
I think (rightly or wrongly, probably wrongly) even the players want this season to end.

2.) 10 Apr 2023 10:03:42
That surge of adrenaline which kicked LFC into gear underlines what the real issue is a far as i can see.

3.) 10 Apr 2023 10:19:36
RushysBugle - are you thinking that the coaches aren't motivating them enough before the game and that it takes an incident of some kind before they manage to get 'up for it'? If yes, I agree, they need to be up for it from the whistle not from 30mins in when we're 2 goals down. We can all see it, god knows why the people who can fix it can't!

4.) 10 Apr 2023 10:56:34
johnnyr1970, I really think that the players suffered last season, especially Mo, who lost those two other really important games as well as the league and Champs league final. I believe the coaches can only do so much to change the mentality of players, but that fresh blood and young players can reinvigorate the energy levels.

5.) 10 Apr 2023 11:18:30
Spot on, Rushy. The players definitely need their heads sorted out cos they know players will be signed and peolly don't know if they will still be here or not so it plays into their psyche, for sure. I do agree that fresh faces will help with motivation and provide a fresh perspective come this summer. We shall see.

6.) 10 Apr 2023 11:27:14
Perhaps carrying too many instructions affects the intensity. Things need to feel natural and programmed if you want to go hell for leather while sticking to a tactic. Conversely, a tactics developed to conserve energy will naturally reduce intensity.

7.) 10 Apr 2023 11:33:01
I'm not sure I subscribe to the theory about last season having such a big impact, it just feels like a convenient excuse. Most footballers are used to disappointment - how many never win a thing - and it's been 10 months now. Something has changed in this squad and we've been awful for most of this season, the management team must be able to see it, they get paid enough money to at least try and fix it and, for me, they - like the players - aren't earning their wages.

8.) 10 Apr 2023 12:45:23
Football players/ teams aren't like computers or cars. You can't just identify one failing component and replace it exactly like for like with a quick trip to PC World or Halfords.
I have days where I can't fix stuff due to differing circumstances, does that mean me and my managers aren't earning our wages?
If these situations were so easily fixed then Man Utd wouldn't have spent the last decade in the wilderness.

9.) 10 Apr 2023 13:12:14
United worked perfectly well till their manager left, let's be honest. We've not changed our manager.

14 Jan 2023 21:00:01
I love Klopp he has given me my most joyful moments as a Liverpool supporter. We expected to win every game for the last few years and I've never known a time like that before. Seeing him in that presser he looks like he needs someone to give him a Klopp sized hug. Never seen him like that before and it's actually making me sadder than the result. Don't care what anyone says there's no other man I want managing this club and no better man for the job. We need to get behind him and give him some love. Jurgen Norbet Klopp you will always have my support. YNWA.

Redwillis1

1.) 14 Jan 2023 21:07:20
Well said red, I second that.

2.) 14 Jan 2023 21:13:51
Redwillis1. I echo your thoughts. I really felt for klopp today. Especially seeing him apologising to the away supporters.

3.) 14 Jan 2023 21:16:10
I'm with you, Redwillis1. In all my years of going to games, I can only ever remember the Kop showing any negativity towards 1 manager and that was Hodgson. Can't remember Souness getting stick, though my memory may be slipping. I think hell will freeze over before they were to turn against Jurgen. Unthinkable.

4.) 14 Jan 2023 21:17:36
great post redwills.

5.) 14 Jan 2023 21:24:58
It’s either Klopp or FSG. That’s how it’s starting to feel.

6.) 14 Jan 2023 21:36:35
Nah 2 years ago i felt bad for him because there was more bad luck than anything else it was horrible. This season he’s as responsible as anyone. Not nice to see but he’s made his own mess. Last thing we need is a pity party for him. I’m backing him over the players and owners anyday but he needs to start working on fixing things that needed fixing in august. If he wants players and he’s not being backed then he needs to come out and say it because every single fan will side with him.

7.) 14 Jan 2023 21:48:13
Jurgen, needs our backing now! Look what he’s given us, time for some payback for him! Singing his name constantly next home game is a must.

8.) 14 Jan 2023 21:44:51
OneKiss, it never ends well if a manager publicly criticises his employer.

9.) 14 Jan 2023 21:45:32
I’m with you RedWillis. 100% agree mate. Just watched the presser and it made me really sad. He looks exhausted and resembles a man on the edge. He was literally sighing throughout the interview in a way that suggests he is seriously at a loss and it’s really affecting him and my worry is him walking. Yes he is not above criticism and I’m still baffled as to why he has been so reluctant to try something new and change the tactics. But I don’t want anyone else to manage us and nowhere nearly mentally ready for the time when he leaves our club.

10.) 14 Jan 2023 22:06:30
LiverpoolFC8, that’s how I feel. I’m firmly in the back Klopp and goodbye FSG camp.

11.) 14 Jan 2023 22:15:31
I agree we must get behind klopp but someone needs to tell the players, after that performance they clearly aren’t.

12.) 14 Jan 2023 22:19:12
It’s as much Klopp’s fault as anyone’s. He picks the team, he employs the tactics, he makes the substitutes. He has had 2 pre seasons, and countless opportunities to change to a suitable system. He chose to buy forwards and not fix the midfield. At the moment Klopp is the biggest problem, stubborn as feck.

13.) 14 Jan 2023 22:36:07
We need a massive atmosphere on Saturday to give him and the team a lift, unfortunately we haven’t had that since before C.V. and I think those days are over. Even the Champions League run last season was weirdly quiet. We only seemed to be able to get it going at Wembley.

14.) 14 Jan 2023 22:37:10
I agree LiverpoolFC8 and I'm a Klopp supporter. I agree that Klopp takes part of the responsibility for getting away from his style of play. I hope he gets back to it, but I am not a FSG fan at all. I appreciate them saving us from Hicks and Gillette, but it's past time for them to sell. They are more interested in an NBA franchise anyway. I say, thank you for all you did for us and good luck to you in your next venture but it's time for you to sell us to owners who actually want to own LFC.

15.) 14 Jan 2023 23:30:54
Ofocourse Klopp has made mistakes. But he's also made many more great decisions than mistakes. Yes we needed a midfielder yes most of us called it in the summer. We also knew we needed to refresh the front line and that's what he did first. Maybe he's holding out for the big one in the summer and had no idea that a team that was challenging for all trophies last season would suddenly become so poor. None of us could imagine this form despite the need in midfield. Klopps biggest flaw has been his loyalty to injury prone or underperforming players. Loyalty maybe his flaw but it also makes him the man he is and the manager he is and just might be part of what meant he got so much out of his team over these great years. What angers me is the complete lack of energy and fight from the players. People saying change things and klopp picks the players but who else does he pick? They're injured. The ones that are available need to have a look at themselves and get some fire in their bellies again. They shouldn't need Klopp to give them that, they play for Liverpool that should be enough.

16.) 15 Jan 2023 00:27:27
Klopp has done wonders for this club and deserves our support. He has given us some amazing moments over the past few years and they should never be forgotten. I fully believe he can put things right, but need to be backed in the transfer market by the owners.

17.) 15 Jan 2023 00:31:27
I also agree, Redwillis.
The only consolation I can think of at the moment, is that this team and manager have given us so many good times. It'd be a lot worse had they always been this bad ?.
It's like watching Mohammad Ali at the end of his career.

18.) 15 jan 2023 00:55:52
im so glad jurgen is a red!

19.) 15 Jan 2023 07:36:39
No one’s asking him to come out and call john henry all sorts of names. Saying i want players brought in isn’t criticising them. He needs to stand up for himself. It’s not like managers have never publicly stated they want signings it’s not some crazy concept.

20.) 15 Jan 2023 07:47:13
Fully agree, OP. As Ucl as I blame Klopp fir many if the issues we have this season, I love him to death and if he walked tomorrow, I would be forever indebted to him for all he has done for us. He has my full support come he’ll or high water.

OneKiss, have you ever slammed your employer in public before? Pretty sure you haven’t so why are you asking someone to do what you yourself wouldn’t even dare attempt? And lastly, FSG don’t do tactics nor handje transfers. That what Klopp is paid to handle so go air your grievances to him. John W Henry still can’t hear you aboard that private helicopter of his.

21.) 15 Jan 2023 08:54:47
I think that's the first thing Waro has said that I agree with. We have to get behind Klopp at next home game x.

08 Jan 2023 12:05:16
Excuse me for this 'what if' question but does anyone think that instead of buying both Nunez and Gakpo we should of maybe gone for Felix instead? To me he's the closest, maybe the only player in the world who could play that false 9 role that Bobby did so effectively for us when we were successful. He would press, he could also take the ball back to goal, good in tight spaces and link midfield to attack which is a major thing were missing. I hear this talk about us trying to change to possession football but then we buy all rapid forwards who we are trying to hit with balls from back to front to run in behind. Doesn't make sense to me. A forward line of Felix linking Mo and Darwin/ Diaz would be amazing imo.

Redwillis1

1.) 08 Jan 2023 12:18:26
Bobby was wasting a dozen of chances and the club wanted an improvement. Preferably a center forward who can put those. Felix has less goals than Bobby. So no for me. Why do you need a 4th midfielder?
Two world class runners either side of Fabinho or Thiago would have done the job.
Gapko was signed coz Diaz and Jota ain’t returning this season and Klopp would field the great ox on the left.

2.) 08 Jan 2023 12:30:07
I agree Felix would have been an ideal replacement for Bobby but the club has changed style (for better or worse) and Darwin is the man to lead the line for the next few years!

3.) 08 Jan 2023 12:31:07
I think he may struggle in the premier league he is very lightweight and also very inconsistent form wise. Not seen much of him tbh but has never impressed me when I have watched him. But like I say don’t know enough except for I have never thought that I would want him at Liverpool from what I have seen. It is going to take more than one player to dig us out of this hole we are in, we’ll unless that player is called Jude that is.

4.) 08 Jan 2023 12:41:40
Inconsistent show pony, doesn’t score enough goals, file under Jadon Sancho.

Nunez is the real deal and having already equalled both Manes and Salahs goals tally after 24 games will go on to great things.

5.) 08 Jan 2023 12:48:25
We bought Nunez and Gakpo in different windows though. Felix would cost a lot more than Gakpo, too, I reckon.

6.) 08 Jan 2023 13:03:33
Hes nowhere near Salahs tally after 24 games.

7.) 08 Jan 2023 13:15:16
Not as skilful as Bobby in his pomp but I really enjoy watching Joelinton. What a player.

8.) 08 Jan 2023 13:19:41
Matheus Nunes showing Liverpool exactly what they're missing in midfield. Rolls Royce. Press-resistant, bundles of energy, confidence and guile on the ball.

9.) 08 Jan 2023 14:10:06
Yes spaceman, but Klopp said NO last year according to many here ??.

10.) 08 Jan 2023 14:11:26
Spaceman, I didn’t think Nunes was that good. Maybe looked good due to the dross we were serving up in midfield in return. Honestly, haven’t seen him play that much hence, I have no opinion on him.

23 Oct 2022 07:53:13
What I found strange was the fact that the space for us was wide all game but salah played through the middle ? Klopp even said in his interview we kept trying to pass through the middle and losing the ball. So why not have salah out wide then? Where he could affect the game. I know he's been ineffective there this season so we changed formation but surely having seen what was going on we should have changed things at half time? I don't know what's happened to Fabinho but he looks a shadow of his former self. Without thiago we have no one who can take control in the middle. Injuries have ravaged us again but we should still be winning those games. Terrible error from Gomez again. Virigl should be scoring 2 from those chances. Whys Jones playing the whole game when he's just back from injury and was dithering on the ball the whole game? The press looked lethargic and off but maybe you can understand that given the 3 games in 6 days. Alisson was once again superb. what a keeper we have. Its part a quality and injuries thing but also a mentality thing because we played superb and with so much snap and energy against city and then we look like we can't be bothered for the 2nd half against West ham and the whole of the forest game. Its a frustrating time to be a red that's for sure. For once I'm actually looking forward to international football to give us all a break from tearing our hair out.

Redwillis1

1.) 23 Oct 2022 08:12:45
Klopp lost us the game with a very poor team selection IMHO.

Whilst I accept that TAA hasn't played well. Millie should have played midfield. Jones shouldn't be near the first team (poor man's Thiago - can keep the ball, but never releases it, dwells too long on it, doesn't get his head up, doesn't play anyone in) .

I might be open to the argument that the manager picks the team, but the team win the game. But even with the subs, Klopp should have swapped Jones for Millie.

2.) 23 Oct 2022 08:21:57
I think the games coming thick and fast has not helped us mate. As you say injuries are ravaging the team and we are relying on players nursing recent injuries, prospects and old legs to play 3 games a week.
Yes we should be still beating forest but their result was earned the hard way, just like last weeks, when we beat City.

I said exactly the same thing. I personally think, he thinks the leagues gone and has one eye on CL qualification on Wednesday. I know we have injuries but there’s 4/ 5 days before we play again. Play your best 11. Too many passengers in this team. Jones simply is not good enough. Fabi looks like he’s wading through treacle, Salah out of position, Carvalho too lightweight. You know it’s a poor game when ya keeper is MOTM.

4.) 23 Oct 2022 08:38:26
We unfortunately have injuries and Klopp is trying to rotate which he has too. If he plays Nunez and he pulls muscle/ hamstring then we lose him for far longer than one game. After saying that the team he played had enough to win the game no excuses
Up the pool.

5.) 23 Oct 2022 08:38:33
Bob Paisley had a saying that players legs should go on another field.
Klopp is like shanks, he always kept his old players around like a bad smell.
I like everyone else thought that Klopp got it wrong in the Summer by insisting the Midfield was okay and we are being proven right.
I think Elliot Jones and Carvalho need time,

6.) 23 Oct 2022 08:46:04
Of course injures have effected us but the truth is from August we have played 5 away league games and we’ve lost 3 and drawn 2 of them. Also throw into the hat the demolishing we had out in Napoli.

The only away game we have won this season was against Rangers.

Injuries have effected us but we can’t beat the champions at home one week and then hide behind excuses the others.

7.) 23 Oct 2022 08:56:30
Some of the first team players and the subs aren’t good enough it’s as simple as that. We sold/ let go 3 strikers in the summer and signed 1 so we are short straight away. We tried to sign Tchouaméni in the summer so it’s obvious Klopp and the team know we needed midfield reinforcement and the money must have been there but we are told there’s no other midfielder that fits our system/ caliber apart from an last min injury prone Italian loan!

We are relying on old and ageing players or kids that are just not ready to grind out those hard wins. We never know who or how many injuries we are going to get in a season but what we do know is who is going to fill those gaps and am sorry but the likes of Jones, ox, keita, are just not good enough! Add to that is the clear drop off from the likes of VVD, fab, hendo, Salah, the player of the season by a mile is Allison which says it all really!

8.) 23 Oct 2022 09:24:52
Longthing, let's not forget the standout forward of the season so far - Firmino. Without him and Allison, that 3 in the losses column would be bigger.

9.) 23 Oct 2022 09:48:54
In fairness Bobby performed against Bournemouth
& Rangers. And bailed us out against Brighton and Everton.

Sod the super league, FSG need to get us in a league with just us, Bournemouth, Rangers and City. We seem to have the beating of those.

10.) 23 Oct 2022 10:05:27
I agree Bobby has had a decent season so far. But why can’t he turn in an average performance against Forest? He hasn’t been over used this seasand yesterday he totally stunk the place out. He was a liability yesterday.

11.) 23 Oct 2022 10:09:02
Klopps never been a tactician he just outworks opponents so when our work rate drops we lose. That’s what we are seeing now. So when you start talking about tactics and changing things it just simply will not happen.

12.) 23 Oct 2022 10:11:47
I like Salah through the middle; though he was isolated yesterday; especially with Firmino being so poor.
The trouble is, when Salah goes in the middle, we have no width on the right especially with TAA not starting. Saying that, we had no width on the left either.
I also think Salah missed the physical presence of Nunez yesterday. Firmino and Carvalho can't do what he does.
We can't afford the injuries and the loss of form to experienced players that we have had. Can we afford to buy to rectify that? We'll have to but it mightn't happen in January.
I think we need lots of finger crossing for the rest of the season ?.

13.) 23 Oct 2022 10:34:47
Salah has been ineffective for the majority of the year. He almost looked like he was coming back to life playing through the middle but that has most often been towards the end of games as opposed to starting when teams can zero in on him.

14.) 23 Oct 2022 12:18:37
The injuries are becoming a HUGE issue to the pint if just picking players who can play rather than picking them based on any strategy whatsoever. I mean, we have only two fit strikers in Salah and Bobbie who actually plays deeper so essentially, we have ONE git striker in the squad yesterday. Anyone could have told you we would struggle to create chances. Forrest didn’t have to do that much cos well, they had only one striker to deal with. It was what it was.

No point beating a dead horse here. Thiago woke up ill the morning of the game. That’s just bad luck. We didn’t deserve to win that gale even tho, we had chances so we just have to take the L and love in to Ajax hoping we have some bodies back this week.

{Ed025's Note - that’s what you get oli when you don’t invest when your squad is very weak. Players who cry off with any excuse is not helping either mate…earache my arse..

15.) 23 Oct 2022 13:03:45
Despite how many men we had missing, Man for man not a single member of Forrest’s starting 11 get into our starting 11 yesterday and we could add the bench to that as well.

99% of yesterdays squad will be required to go up against Ajax on wed.

On any given day any team can win a football match and yesterday we didn’t lose to a better team. Let’s stop making excuses for the team and players we love and call a spade a spade.

Away from home this season our so called superstar mentality monsters have been crap.

We can make every excuse under the sun for them but the buck stops with them and Klopp.

Hi eds, any truth in the rumour that Rabiot is keen on signing a pre contract in January?

Redwillis1

{Ed001's Note - I do not know what rumour you are referring to, as he has been linked with signing those with about 50 different teams.}

1.) 14 Aug 2018 09:28:13
Rumour that liverpool are interested in signing pre-agreement in jan. At least that's the headline I saw!

{Ed001's Note - over the last few months I have seen that same headline with about 20 different clubs in it.}

2.) 14 Aug 2018 11:57:47
I think we have had interest in the past per ed002. He has only gotten better so if he is available for a deal then maybe we would look. We would need to sell a midfielder though.

3.) 14 Aug 2018 12:15:53
Pre-contract agreement signed in Jan- or massive hike in wages to stay at PSG?

Bargaining tool.

No not an endo replacement ed02 an addition to endo so that we have 2 Dms instead of 1. Perhaps Lavia was a replacement for Caicedo if that's what buying 2 players for the same position means.
He was indeed wasted at centre back by Bodge and had a couple of injuries in the last couple of seasons.
Still a good player there in my opinion.

Redwillis1

{Ed002's Note - No, I explained since the start of the summer that Chelsea required 2 x DM.}

I mentioned Ndidi awhile ago as someone I'd like the club to go for. He'd be attainable and not too expensive i expect so no too risky a purchase. if we could get him back in to the form of a couple of seasons ago before Leicester emploded we could have a great DM on our hands.

Redwillis1

{Ed002's Note - A good Endo replacement then.}

I personally think we're good In midfield if caicedo does join. Caicedo, Mac, Dom. Trent, thiago, Jones, Baj, Elliott is enough for me. I'd be looking to loan out the McConnells, Mortons and Clarks. A Cb would be great though. Hopefully we can sell phillips and maybe matip and get one in.

FTR I believe the term 'lowballing' means offering less than the sellers asking price regardless of if that asking price is a lot or a little. Go figure that out.

It sounds like Chelsea kept lowballing Brighton and wouldn't pay what was asked. Then in some shocking turn of events Liverpool decided to pay someones asking price even though its huuuge. Crazy times.

Danns gives me Kane vibes. Good positioning, good runs, composed finishing and decent in the end. Fingers crossed he keeps progressing we might have a star on our hands.

I think Gravenberch is getting abit of harsh stick from you guys here. I don't think we needed to sign him but he's here now and from what I've seen he does have talent. He's particularly good at running with the ball and breaking the lines by dribbling through midfield. That's a really useful talent to have. He needs to work on his final forward pass and to work abit harder/ smarter out of possession but I really don't think he's anywhere near as far off or bad as some of you are making out and I don't think he had a bad game.

We've got to go with our strongest team. We've got a great chance to win this cup and the europa and we should be going all out to do so.

Ed do you think Diaz struggle to beat a man is due to the knee injury or just that he is out of form and poss struggling due to the family situation and stress around that?

Redwillis1

{Ed001's Note - he was doing well early in the season, scoring for us and his country, I think he has just lost form and focus due to the kidnapping. Totally understandable.}
