Any truth in a January move for Dahoud?

Rozz

1.) 12 Nov 2016 10:48:55
Old news I'm guessing eds? Or are we actually interested in signing him? I don't think we should, obviously he's got a lot of potential but we don't NEED him. It'll be a waste of money IMO.

{Ed002's Note - I am only aware of one side having approached Borussia Mönchengladbach recently and it is not Liverpool.}

Any truth in the Insigne rumour? Apparently Napoli want him out.

Rozz

1.) 21 Oct 2016 09:32:35
Not heard anything about this rumor. Y would Napoli want to get rid of a good player?

2.) 21 Oct 2016 10:16:48
There has been rumours, but i'm guessing that's exactly all it is.

3.) 21 Oct 2016 13:45:30
I read that as "the insane rumour"

Most of the "rumours" on here are insane if they aren't from the Eds.

4.) 23 Oct 2016 13:36:54
Absolutely love Insigne, don't think Klopp will love paying the huge fee he would command though. Also a big risk with him coming from Serie A, can't think of many players who have been a huge success in the EPL after coming from Italy (Lord Saviour Pogba aside - probably shouldn't speak too soon. )

5.) 23 Oct 2016 22:12:39
Most of the rumours are insane if they aren't from the eds? I wasnt aware the eds started or shared any rumours.

6.) 25 Oct 2016 15:34:01
How about Zola was very good coming from italy.

7.) 26 Oct 2016 10:28:06
Coutinho?

8.) 27 Oct 2016 09:30:06
Bergkamp, Vieira and Henry did Ok coming from Italy.

10 Oct 2016 20:36:24
Eds is there any truth in a January move for Dahoud? Or have we even had him watched?

Rozz

{Ed002's Note - The club has already lost key players this past summer and will look to hold on to both Hazard and Dahoud - but it may be a tough fight. Next summer might be a better chance than January.}

1.) 10 Oct 2016 21:09:39
I heard plenty of Dahoud but never once seen him play and know barely anything about him, he good eds?

{Ed001's Note - seems good, still young and you are talking about potential.}

2.) 11 Oct 2016 23:03:44
supposedly we will try in January for him, he's rejected a recent contract offer and he has the same agent as Emre Can.

3.) 12 Oct 2016 09:18:10
and that doesn't mean a great deal. i'll beleive it when it happens. Let's be honest, do we really need him?

4.) 13 Oct 2016 20:53:59
Three of our first team midfielders are over the age of 28 (Lallana, Lucas, Milner) . Any (or all) could be gone within the next year or two. Why shouldn't we look at young midfielders for the future?

5.) 13 Oct 2016 18:38:03
I'd say we're in a position now squad size wise where we should only be bringing in players to replace outgoings.

E. g a left back to come in for Moreno in the summer or a replacement for Lucas if he were to leave.

We have decent cover/ options in most areas now to withstand all but a major injury crisis!

6.) 14 Oct 2016 09:50:46
ra1969 - what's makin you think we'll be getting rid within the next year or two? what do you have to go on that? Lucas might end up leaving but I personally can't see Milner or Lallana going anywhere for some time. They are both playing very well, probably the best they have in their entire career. They're enjoying their time at Liverpool and we're enjoying them been part of it.

and to answer your question, 'why shouldn't we look at young midfielders for the future? ' - Because we already have young midfielders for the future mate.

I have no doubt this young Dahoud would be a good signing. But personally i'd much prefer us to ggive chances to some of our youngsters before splashing the cash on somebody we don't necessarily need.

7.) 16 Oct 2016 03:03:01
I think he will have work permit considering his ethnicity and international experience.

04 Oct 2016 20:14:40
Eds, do you think we will go back in for Coric or Pulisic in January? Apparently Klopp is meeting a 'key player' (agent, not footballer) in this international break.

Rozz

{Ed025's Note - i would be guessing rozz..

1.) 04 Oct 2016 21:46:17
Could we buy them this January and loan them back it would make Sence to stop people buying them in the summer.

2.) 04 Oct 2016 21:19:45
Ed002 would be the man to answer that Rozz, but the reprobates have cost us. The Liverpool fans in general do not deserve his/ her input and information.

3.) 05 Oct 2016 11:16:09
Where is eds 2 then? Don't tell me some idiots have been abusing again? . Some people need to grow up.

{Ed002's Note - I have been travelling for the past month.}

4.) 05 Oct 2016 14:28:11
Ahh cool. glad 2 have u back eds.

5.) 05 Oct 2016 16:24:16
Are you nearly there yet ed? 😉.

Coric was pencilled in for a medical but decided to stay at Dinamo.

Rozz

1.) 29 Aug 2016 12:48:38
This was confirmed by coric and he said he was only a medical away but wanted to play champs league with his existing club. Should of loaned him straight back to them to get the deal done if that was the case.

2.) 29 Aug 2016 14:42:11
Why not sign and loan back? Think we will regret this in the near future.

3.) 29 Aug 2016 15:16:21
Well I wonder if we could do a deal in January if Dinamo go out of the group stages. Only time will but transfers are obviously much harder to complete in the January window so I'd guess it's unlikely.

4.) 29 Aug 2016 15:19:53
Oh well, maybe next time.

5.) 29 Aug 2016 17:50:13
He might regret it, misses out working with a great manager and a premier league title?
He might get knocked out of group stages of champions league and end up signing in January.

Can't blame the lad, ambitious to play in CL, wants to play football regualrly. Good on him, his current club's fans will love him.

6.) 29 Aug 2016 18:50:06
Well said Ron. The lad could have done a Sterling, but he's showed loyalty to his club, good for him.

7.) 29 Aug 2016 21:16:49
Yea sterling should have stayed and played champs lge with us.

8.) 29 Aug 2016 21:24:24
Would have been a better purchase than wijnaldum in my opinion. Plus he's more of a midfielder than a forward.

9.) 29 Aug 2016 22:57:21
But he doesn't want to come Kman so it's not fair to say he'd have been a better purchase than Wijnaldum.

Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez would have been better purchases than Wijnaldum, but those options weren't on the table, just like Coric wasn't.

10.) 29 Aug 2016 22:57:21
But he doesn't want to come Kman so it's not fair to say he'd have been a better purchase than Wijnaldum.

11.) 30 Aug 2016 02:57:46
Well, if it's true that he was a medical away from coming to Liverpool, then that would seen that he was pretty keen on coming at one point. Messi, Ronaldo and Suarez aren't so your point has zero relevance to what I'm saying. It is fair to say coric would have been a better purchase than wijnaldum, because he's more of what we need, and it's my opinion.

12.) 30 Aug 2016 04:00:42
yeah coric wasn't an option, i agree.

A steward outside the ground yesterday told me that the players used to walk in front of the fans after getting off the team bus, rather than the bus driving straight through the entrance, she told me Gerrard made it like that. Why? couldn't believe he would be so ignorant. Could Ed001 confirm this or back it up based on Gerrard as a person?

Rozz

{Ed001's Note - it is possible, as he didn't like having to spend hours signing autographs etc. He always had minders with him briefed to pull him away after a few minutes so he could pretend it wasn't his choice. However, I do not know anything of him doing that with the team bus and it is more likely to be a security thing I would think.}

29 Dec 2016 20:40:52
Eds, would it be correct in assuming that if it appears on Sky Sports, there is certainly some substance to it, or do they just do it so people lash a bet down on a bs story?

Rozz

{Ed001's Note - depends on the story, they do certainly run a lot of stories that are pure BS to stir up mugs into betting. They also run genuine news as well.}

26 Dec 2016 19:20:08
Eds, surely Draxler signing for PSG ends interest in Coutinho from them?

Rozz

{Ed002's Note - No.}

1.) 27 Dec 2016 09:27:04
When you have the kind of money they have, you can never have enough top quality players.

18 Dec 2016 15:51:43
Ed, what is your opinion of Defoe as a player? Do you think we should of ever signed him?

Rozz

{Ed001's Note - not good enough for us. He scores goals, but mainly because he shoots a lot from everywhere he happens to be. If you have 40 shots a game, there is a good chance you will score one, but there is also a good chance you are wasting possession and gifting the ball back to the opposition more often than not. He has never learnt the art of playing in a player in a better position.}

1.) 18 Dec 2016 19:54:39
Great review Eds1 summed up perfectly.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

2.) 18 Dec 2016 22:03:12
Funny one Defoe.
I usually watch him only on highlights unless he's playing against us, so only see his best bits each game so he looks like a brilliant goal machine, highlights only tell half the story though.

3.) 18 Dec 2016 23:43:03
Which is why they should never be used to judge a player, Mikey as it seems many do here. As for Defoe, it seems he plays the law of averages when goal scoring is concerned. The more I shoot, the more likely I will score. Same with BR's transfer strategy as in, buy 10 players every season and at some point, 5 of them will come good.

4.) 19 dec 2016 00:22:23
isn't scoring goals what its all about? i don't particularly rate him but he is a goal scorer, for us? i don't know, who knows with the team we have feeding him the ball i think he'd be alright tbh, but i do agree ed1, not good enough for us. we'll be in top 4 next year and he's not good enough for that imo, ings is the better option any day.

5.) 19 Dec 2016 06:35:22
Lol Hamilton, Are you saying you shouldn't shoot and should behave like Arsenal. Passing and passing and passing inside the opposition net and trying to score that near perfect goal every time?
He is playing for a team that are not equipped with Brazilian magic or Spanish masala. He is a good finisher and hardly ever miss anything from 2 yards.

{Ed001's Note - that is simply not true, one of the biggest criticisms throughout his career is how many times he misses. As for hardly ever missing anything from 2 yards, everyone hardly ever misses anything from 2 yards. That is why when it does happen you never hear the end of it.}

6.) 19 Dec 2016 14:11:31
Thanks Ed, for the response to Harry`s now-to be-expected off-topic comments that always seem to never answer the questions being asked on a thread. I played the CF position when I played non league football in France for three years and shooting from all angles is simply pointless for the reasons Ed already presented which is why, I never did it because most of the time it is necessary to keep possession and find a team mate who was in a better position score hence, I was decent at both scoring and assisting. You`re welcome.

03 Dec 2016 22:09:53
Ed, what is your opinion of Wijnaldum so far and what can he do to improve? Worth the money?

Rozz

{Ed001's Note - Wijnaldum combined well with Lallana before they both got injured, but he does not look as good a match with Can. He provides a lot of hard running, and movement, plus link up with the forwards. It is difficult to really judge him yet, it is too early, he was out of the team for a while with injury, just as he was getting going, and then had to wait for a chance to get back into the side. He could really do with Lallana back alongside him. As for worth the money, it is far too early to say that.}

If you can get to Goodison car park early, then that's the best, not a long walk to stadium and normally filters out within 20mins.

Agreed, for me he doesn't run forward with the ball enough, like Lallana does beating players, in a scrappy game, he keeps it neat which helps create more space and settle things down. He seems to have a good footballing brain which undoutedly comes from growing up in the Netherlands.
