Do LFC have alternative's in mind if Gravenbach falls through? As it seems LFC are waiting on BM, and BM are waiting on Fulham and Fulham are looking for someone. Its like buying a house in a chain it seems.

SA

{Ed002's Note - Sure but the decision needs to be made soon.}

1.) 31 Aug 2023 17:31:24
Yeah but a chain normally go's on for weeks. not 2 days before completion date.

2.) 31 Aug 2023 17:38:34
A chain would normally be months not weeks Magico. Luckily we are dealing in football player transfers that can happen in hours.

Plenty of time to get it done.

3.) 31 Aug 2023 18:43:26
Who's the alternative eds? Also, are we actually speaking to any defenders? Cheers.

{Ed002's Note - I have explained about the options.}

4.) 31 Aug 2023 18:52:29
But are we actually talking to defenders who we have time and a realistic chance of signing?

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of Liverpool talking with individual defenders. The process is to speak with clubs.}

5.) 31 Aug 2023 18:55:48
Ha ha! Ok, clubs?! Cheers.

6.) 31 Aug 2023 19:06:50
Being reported Gravenberch €40m agreed medical here we go from Romano. As always believe when he walks through the door.

7.) 31 Aug 2023 19:19:48
Yeah, until his agent tells him to hold on.

8.) 31 Aug 2023 20:34:30
I hear Todd Boely’s private jet has intercepted Gravenberch’s flight and is currently towing it to west London.

Thanks for all your hard work during the silly season Eds, appreciate all your hard work.
Any news on a new coach or assistant manager?

Cheers

SA

{Ed001's Note - not yet mate, surprisingly as I would have thought this would be sorted by now.}

1.) 12 Jun 2015 20:55:07
Brendan is taking over all 3 roles ;)

2.) 12 Jun 2015 21:31:48
Hi guys, 1st time poster, a mate of mine got talking to Rick Parry at a gym in chester, and apparently he seems to think (and very shocked)that they haven't even drawn up a list of potential assistants. Obviously I don't know how much he still has to do with the club and whether this true, but if it is I think it's madness. Or could also be them just waiting for Brendan to leave himself. But I don't think he will if that's the case, he won't get another job as big as this.

{Ed001's Note - Parry is now marketing himself as a football consultant but he has no longer any involvement with Liverpool. He might well be right though on this, but take what he says with a pinch of salt.}

3.) 13 Jun 2015 11:17:50
Thought that myself to be fair ed. I had thought that it could be fsg just waiting until January, for klopp, after his break and just trying to make Rogers uncomfortable, but that could be a monumental mistake and end up ruining another season, they wouldn't be that ruthless just to save the compensation would they?

{Ed001's Note - no they are not trying to force him to resign.}

4.) 13 Jun 2015 12:40:03
They're not trying to force him to sign but are they happy with him?

{Ed001's Note - no, that is why the coaching staff was cleared out.}

16 Aug 2013 10:28:13
I know I will get ripped apart for this but I wouldn't mind us going for Yossi Benayoun again. Free agent and I think he would be good squad player still has something to offer.

Was gutted when Yossi left more so than Torres. On another note I would be surprised if we sign Willan, I am not being a pessimist its just that if Man U and Tottenham are also after him, can we really compete and that is not me having a go at the owners or BR as if you look through my past posts I have always and will always be a big supporter of both.

YNWA {Ed002's Note - Benayoun will likely conclude a deal to join Crystal Palace - possibly today.}

There seems to be a lot of names being spouted about for new players. But how many non-hg gaps have we got?

SA

1.) 28 Aug 2023 08:25:25
Senior non-HG:

Allison, Endo, van Dijk, Konate, Thiago, Diaz, Szoboszlai, Nunez, Mac Allister, Salah, Adrian, Gakpo, Jota, Tsimikas, Robertson, Matip.

16 in total, so we can have one more without a sale.

2.) 28 Aug 2023 08:58:36
Nice one, SR. Thanks for the info.

3.) 28 Aug 2023 10:36:26
We could have one plus Gravenberch and Hincapie both f whom I think are 21.

16 Jul 2023 20:46:34
Hi Eds, seeing as the Kalvin Phillips rumours are resurfacing and apparently Klopp is a fan. There seems to be issues, I read an Ed saying he has problems with his weight and I am sure I read somewhere he is not a great trainer and has a bit of an attitude problem. Has he always had these issues, or only since signing for City? got to be honest didn't watch him much. Seems strange that Pep and Klopp would both have an interest in the player and seem to rate him, to a point that Pep signed him, whilst he has these issues or do they see it as a challenge?

SA

{Ed001's Note - he was fine under Bielsa but he got a lot of press in that time and he seems to have let it all go to his head.}

1.) 16 Jul 2023 21:15:21
Maybe the last year will have helped him to refocus?

2.) 16 Jul 2023 21:23:51
Did wonder if that might've been the case. Shame, as could have been a great talent. Maybe a new move could be what he needs, not saying to Liverpool, but who knows. :) Thanks Eds, appreciate all your work.

{Ed001's Note - usually when you need to change it requires bottoming out to make you refocus. Not sure a move will do that unless it is down the leagues.}

3.) 16 Jul 2023 23:25:46
Ed1 - was watching Micah Richards segment where he talked about declining a 100k/ week 5-year contract at City when he was late 20s to basically be one of their homegrown players. He turned that down, but I do wonder where the motivation wanes when you're getting paid those sums to basically be a squad filler. Is this part of what has happened to Phillips perhaps?

{Ed001's Note - he was already showing signs before joining City. His weight had gone up there and his fitness had dropped leading to injury issues.}

4.) 17 Jul 2023 06:43:00
Wouldn't touch him with a barge pole.

5.) 17 Jul 2023 07:27:40
Magico how about with a warm welcoming hug?

6.) 17 Jul 2023 10:48:11
I can’t think of a player right now that was excellent before having a sustained loss of form and then recaptured their form again.

29 Jun 2023 22:55:48
After starting quiet strongly it seems we are struggling to find the right players to bring in. Do you think bringing in a DofF at the start of the window is causing complications?

SA

1.) 29 Jun 2023 23:18:55
Who's struggling?

2.) 30 Jun 2023 00:51:50
File under: impatience.

3.) 30 Jun 2023 01:11:11
Me, I’m struggling.

4.) 30 Jun 2023 09:23:03
Try some laxative or a high fibre diet WDW3 ??.

5.) 30 Jun 2023 09:34:09
Out of our rivals none are stealing any great marches. Most have signed one or two and some of those are pre agreed deals, youngsters or permanent loan signings.

Post this again with a week to go if we’re in the same boat and you’ll be taken more seriously.

6.) 30 Jun 2023 10:37:17
At least we don't have to worry about signing Mason Mount anymore though ?.

7.) 30 Jun 2023 11:33:28
Agreed johny. thankfully we avoided that. rice and macallister are the main 2 signings so far for me.

8.) 30 Jun 2023 11:43:10
no need for laxatives, just get a couple of pints in the Derby in the swan and get home as soon as possible. The rest will take care of itself.

9.) 30 Jun 2023 12:50:29
Really, I actually think Mount would have been a good signing for us. Playing on the right of the midfield 3. He has good energy, can carry the ball, creative, can press well, for me he needs to work on his goal scoring - though now he plays for Man I I don’t rate him ?.

10.) 30 Jun 2023 12:53:37
Want to have another crack at that one OP?

11.) 30 Jun 2023 14:12:23
David Ornstein now reporting that LFC are pushing ahead with Szoboszlai and despite it looking difficult the dynamic has shifted.

I know when Ornstein broke the Bellingham news first it was said what does he know and it’s all click bait so who knows.

16 Jun 2023 06:55:41
Hi all, seeing a few posts and news articles saying they believe LFCs transfer business is done.

I mean we haven't signed anyone for 1 week/ 2 weeks since Macallister so they must be right.

If that was the case though, why bring in Jorg Schmadtke for 3 months.

SA

1.) 16 Jun 2023 07:59:08
Definitely not true. I wouldn’t read much into that.
Our squad wasn’t good enough last season and we’ve lost 4 players already and brought in 1.
As it stands we’re probably worse off ?
But it also depends on the ambition of next season, what are we hoping to achieve?
Are we going for the title, aiming for top four, or more of the same again?
Everything will depend on this window and this pre season.

2.) 16 Jun 2023 10:30:04
SA, that's just people posting clickbait rubbish to get a reaction and get their anti LFC, anti FSG or whatever going. I wouldn't that much attention to it. W are in for players and that's what matters. Let the process play out and see what happens.

20 Feb 2023 12:02:34
Probably an obvious question, but curious how vastly does anyone think our summer transfer plans will be effected by qualifying for the champions league or not?

SA

1.) 20 Feb 2023 12:29:51
Totally unaffected in my opinion. Football has always been a business where you speculate to accumulate. Plus with how FFP works one season out of the Champions League can be taken on the chin. Throw in we'll likely have new owners too and i really don't see the need to stress. We still might finish 4th anyway.

Bellingham seems to be the top target, and then additionally a player like Mount or Nunes to bolster the midfield. I'm also optimistic we'll sign a centre back and let Matip go. 3 good signings would transform this team in a similar way Alisson, Virgil and Fabinho did in 2018.

2.) 20 Feb 2023 12:30:50
I would doubt it, even if the owners were to stay in place. I've complained about FSG being tight before and they are, but they clearly do weigh up the pros and cons in detail before making any decision - even if I don't always agree with it as a fan.

I think in the summer their decision will be different. If the finances aren't available then taking out some sort of loan to strengthen the squad would be a risk. But not strengthening significantly and potentially missing out on Champions League football on a regular basis would be the far bigger risk. Particularly with Newcastle in the equation now, like City with the backing they have - once they get into the top 4 they will become a permanent fixture, which makes it even harder to qualify for.

3.) 20 Feb 2023 12:57:42
OP, I fully agree with MK Scouser. Not sure it will mater that much if we don't make it cos certain forecass are made for such scenarios and contingency plans are made. I mean, we have seen Arsenal not make the CL or multiple seasons now YET they have outspent us the whole time or at least the past 5 years.

If we get Jude, another mid (whoever that is) and a CB like MKS says then, we are solid cos we are already sorted upfront and at GK (whether Kelleher wants to leave or stay) . As for FSG being tight esp. since they took over the club, that's just a myth.

4.) 20 Feb 2023 13:29:22
We’ll find out in a few months time but only one of the scenarios depending on obviously where we finish.

With quite a few players being out of contract and maybe others looking to move on for more minutes (Kelleher etc) then the summer could be quite an important one.

I’m not sure what our biggest recruitment numbers are for any one window under Klopp but this could be the biggest to date.

5.) 20 Feb 2023 15:09:33
I disagree somewhat with MK I understand his points fully but you will have players that may not want to spend a year out of CL. I don't personally think Bellingham would be one of those but I think it is 1 less thing for players to weigh up when looking at the prospect of joining us if we have CL. Some players might even look for extra 10/ 20k a week in negotiations and use the lack of CL as reason if they are already in it.

To take it a step further if we had just gone on to end of season losing nearly every game I think it would be harder to sell on the 'bit of a blip' potentially and people may look at us as a side in decline which is less attractive to join as well.

But from a pure money side I think MK is right that even the current owners would be confident enough in the ability to bounce back and would make the funds available.

6.) 20 Feb 2023 15:26:54
I'm sure any financial forecasting will be done on a prudent basis in terms of revenue streams. They'll include for guaranteed income (e. g. contracted sponsorship) but there will likely be sensible scenario plans in place for what might happen if we finish 10th, 5th or 4th.

If I recall correctly it was Leeds many years ago who budgeted as if they were going to reach the knockout stages of the CL every year - you only have to look how that panned out to see that no-one would be so stupid now.

7.) 20 Feb 2023 15:31:28
Bellingham and Caicedo would be the perfect midfield signings. Happy with a midfield of Bajcetic and Caicedo at the base of midfield with Bellingham in an attacking midfield role. Also agree that we should let Matip move on. Gvardiol Has the potential to be world class and would be the perfect successor to VVD when that time comes seeing as he is only 21 but can also cover for Robbo. Those 3 signings and we are good to go.

8.) 20 Feb 2023 15:59:28
Bellingham aside I think we’re more interested in Mac Allister than Caicedo, he’s going elsewhere.

{Ed002's Note - I would not expect either to join Liverpool.}

9.) 20 Feb 2023 16:03:04
Regardless of whether we make it to the UCL or not, I think it's going to be a summer of changes. Not only because of the situation LFC is in, but simply the facts that apply to the highest levels of professional football, in general. The average footballer career supposedly lasts only 8 years, and if a club is able to pull out 6-7 good years from a player then it's pretty much a success, I guess. There has to be a constant churn of players in and out, while keeping the outstanding ones for longer. If Klopp is indeed trying to build his next great team (which seems true) then we have already started seeing it with the purchases of Konate, Jota, Diaz, Carvalho and Nunez. Succees is not guaranteed, but the churn has to happen.

10.) 20 Feb 2023 16:08:20
Maybe finance-wise there will be an effect. The only club in the Premier League who can close to guarantee Champions League football year-in year-out is City so unless a player chooses them or one of the other European giants like Real, Barca, Bayern or PSG, they would be stupid and incredibly short-sighted to pick another club over us on the basis they we couldn't offer them Champions League football the forthcoming year as that situation changes every single year. Over a period of several years, we are still the second-safest bet in the Premier League behind City if you are looking at who is the most likely to do well in the league and win trophies.

11.) 20 Feb 2023 16:12:42
Sorry Ed002 was you referring to Bellingham and Caicedo? Or Caicedo snd MacAlister?

{Ed002's Note - Mac Allister than Caicedo. And there is no guarantee Bellingham will join.}

12.) 20 Feb 2023 16:45:16
Cheers Ed, I no there isn’t a guarantee on Bellingham.

13.) 20 Feb 2023 16:50:27
Ed002, in your opinion, where do you think the most likely destination for Bellingham will be? If you were a betting man I mean…?

{Ed002's Note - Real Madrid or Liverpool.}

14.) 20 Feb 2023 17:25:32
Get ready for the meltdown. JWH has said the club is not for sale.

15.) 20 Feb 2023 17:28:40
Then, I guess we’d better dump RM out as that could convince Jude to join us. Wirthva punt, right?

{Ed002's Note - It would not make any difference.}

16.) 20 Feb 2023 21:41:15
Hi Ed02, sorry if I’ve missed a post on a Liverpool target round up. Would you mind re-posting?

{Ed002's Note - I have not posted one.}

17.) 21 Feb 2023 13:25:18
That was a joke, Ed02.

I hope Salah doesn't leave, but if he does, I would like us to go to a 4-2-3-1, with Mac and Endo/ Graven double pivot and Szob on the right, with Gakpo, Diaz and Nunez up top.

Have I missed something? We were doing badly until we changed the system. We are 13 games unbeaten since, is the system perfect no, but what is? Other teams will always find gaps in any system, but it is up to the coaching staff to counteract that.

Not all great coaches, make great managers. Ljinders may have got the sack as a manager, but Klopp has always praised him for his coaching abilities. You may not like the system, but I think for now it is here to stay.

If Salah comes out and says he wants to go and we get a decent fee sell him. No point keeping a player who doesn't want to stay. We have had superstars before and we have and will have superstars after.

Personally would play Nunez on the wing if Salah leaves.
