Even if we sign a CB now, it might just be another stop gap arrangement. I don't see us reaching an agreement with any club for a good CB given the time left.

OP, I agree. Getting one now would just be a "panic buy" you know, that thing tons of people on here (myself included) hate.

This might be against the common opinions but I don't think we need to add a midfielder this window. If we buy one, it may eat away the game time that Elliot, Carvalho and Jones might get which will shun their development. I honestly believe Elliot can be a game changer this season along with Carvalho. Apart from that we still have Hendo, Thiago and Fabs. Not even counting Milly, Keita and Ox. It's a midfield factory out there.

OP, can Elliott or Carvalho play the DM role and cover for Fab? If yes then, we don't need a new midfielder. If your answer is no then, how would signing cover for Fab eat into game time for Elliott and Fab Carvalho? Just asking.

2.) 16 Jun 2022 15:56:28
I am hoping Elliot, Carvalho and Jones can get more game time.

We need more goals coming from Midfield next season and from that list none are what would be described as goalscoring midfielders.

I really hope Jones can kick on this year, stay injury free and unlock his undoubted potential, needs to regain his confidence when in promising attacking situations- both in regards to his passing and his shooting.

Elliot and Carvalho already have a understanding from playing together at Fulham and are both exciting talents, the sort that Klopp loves to develop.

3.) 16 Jun 2022 16:41:26
In other words the club have one Positionally sound DM and 1000000 CM’s.

4.) 16 Jun 2022 16:45:32
No Oli but Hendo, Milner, Thiago and Morton can all cover the holding role, even though it's not their best position.

If the plan is not to sign anyone then i wonder if the club plan on looking at Tom Clayton in pre-season. The kids 21 years old now, captain of the u23's, and a very similar player to Fabinho. He started out as a CB before stepping up to play as a midfield destroyer. Well over 6ft as well so he's not going to be knocked about.

5.) 16 Jun 2022 17:06:58
No they can’t MK. Why did we sign Ramsey if Gomez can cover. What did you learn from the past two years MK? One injury to Fabinho and we are pants.
And for all the Bellingham fan boys. He isn’t a holding mid. So his signing has no relevance.

6.) 16 Jun 2022 17:53:54
If the club keeps buying backup's to sit on the bench in case one of the starters gets injured what message does that send to the youth players looking to break through. Tyler Morton is a 19 year old holding midfielder who has already played in the Champions League, Instead of spending money on a player who will predominantly sit on the bench perhaps we give the young players a chance. Plus Henderson is also capable of playing as a holding midfielder.

7.) 16 Jun 2022 18:17:35
Hello Harry, back to the Transition_Time username eh?

Good to know.

What do you think about City's business so far?

8.) 16 Jun 2022 18:24:10
Harry, Henderson played holding midfield before we signed Fabinho and we got to a CL final which was only lost due to a shocking performance from Karius. I think it's fair to say he is capable of providing cover.

9.) 16 Jun 2022 18:27:59
Well said Thunderbird. Morton started 6 games and we won all 6. In the 3 he came on as a sub we won 2 and drew 1. But i guess we are pants without Fabinho and why let facts get in the way of a throwaway statement, eh!

10.) 16 Jun 2022 19:00:50
I don't think morton is up to it yet, maybe for the future but I'm not sure on him if I'm honest.

11.) 16 Jun 2022 19:41:01
Your reason doesn’t apply on the right back spot apparently MK. Nevertheless the club will learn the hard way. Two years running and no legs nor a cover for Fabinho.

12.) 16 Jun 2022 19:42:14
Julian Alvarez, Haaland, Cucurela and Philips / Matheus Nunes looks a very good business. The league is done.

13.) 16 Jun 2022 20:17:34
But, City have no cover for Rodri ?.

14.) 16 Jun 2022 21:23:45
People are just going on about giving Morton, Jones etc game time. Those players are still developing and should be given time to develop. They are not good enough for week in week out first team football.

If you look at City's bench as compared to Liverpool's then u can definitely see the difference in class. You're not going to overtake city by having morton and Jones as backup.

15.) 16 Jun 2022 21:30:19
You’re right Kawasaki.

You’ll never win anything with kids.

16.) 16 Jun 2022 22:43:12
Morton not good enough yet! the lad will be thrown in the deep end have a bad game and we all know what happens then calls for off with his Ed! We will bring In a established cm!

17.) 17 Jun 2022 00:55:34
Henderson, Milner, Morton can all cover Fab. Fans always seem to see a squad crisis despite having loads of players.

18.) 17 Jun 2022 01:11:54
No legs! We just came a point and a goal away from a quadruple! Absolutely ridiculous logic there!

I think it's fine if Salah leaves and gets what he wants in terms of contract elsewhere. There is nothing wrong in looking for a better financial deal especially when you deserve it and of course he does. Everyone does it. At the same time we cannot blame FSG as well. If we don't have the financial push to get this through, so be it. The hierarchy cannot put the club at risk longer term.

The best way forward would be to try selling him in the summer and reinvest in someone who is as close to him as possible. That would be ideal for both the parties.

SASHA2112

1.) 12 Mar 2022 09:47:52
If there is a player out there that is close to him then the Transfer fee would be huge and I doubt such player would come for cheap wages.

If you’re trying to replace a top player because he doesn’t want to be here and the funds are available then it’s just a case of find another top player.

If you’re trying to replace a top player because you can’t afford to or are not willing financially to keep such player then that means whoever you are looking to replace him with would need to be in those financial boundaries.

2.) 12 Mar 2022 10:26:09
Salah will want to consider his options in the summer. If PSG are ready to offer him double ours its right for him to decide if he prefers it. He's earnt the right through his world class play. If there are lack of big offers he possibly signs a new deal. If not we move on to an Antony, Bowen, Raphinha, Diaby or antony gordon.

3.) 12 Mar 2022 10:32:07
I’m not sure that’s true JK. Given the stage Mo is at in his career and the deal he may wish for it might very well be the case that the club would say no to him and to any other player of the same type (age, skill set, wage, likely eventual resale value etc) but that same set of ‘rules’ the club applies may not apply to younger players who have the potential to be better than Mo and who can offer a lot more to the development of the squad over a lot longer period. The player I’m thinking of is Bellingham who I understand isn’t a like for like replacement but who Klopp is reported to have said could develop into the best midfielder in the world.

I gues ps my rambling point is that whilst we may not be willing to pay Mo a particular salary we may pay a different player more than MO’s agent is asking for for a variety of different reasons.

4.) 12 Mar 2022 11:10:50
Klopp is hardly going to say that he wants him out the door as quickly as possible. We’re still in 3 competitions and we’ll need every single player to be focused- even Keita.
He’d probably say the same thing if Sean Dundee was part of the squad and was needed at some point.
I’m sure privately, Jurgen has his own plans for individual players.

5.) 12 Mar 2022 12:09:35
WDW you could very well be right mate. It’s all opinions and we are all looking from outside to in.

Tell you what England have some future midfield with Bal D’or winner Elliot and the best midfielder in the world Bellingham in there. Pointless the other nations turning up for tournaments 😜.

6.) 12 Mar 2022 15:28:20
I would love chiesa.

7.) 12 Mar 2022 21:18:08
@JK, just a matter of time mate 😁😁.

8.) 12 Mar 2022 22:06:46
WDW I think the equaliser will be Southgate.

Having him in charge is like driving a formula one car with the handbrake on and the wheels clamped 🤣🤣.

{Ed0666's Note - and no engine 😂

I somehow share this thought as well. We don't have any update on Caicedo accepting the move to LFC and the tables can turn pretty quickly again.
