I see Danns is being linked with joining Koumas at Stoke for the rest of the season. It would be nice to see how he performs given a run of games. Just a shame he isn't being linked to a better performing team.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 28 Jan 2025 14:14:39
Danns and Koumas performed really well together in the academy. Their connection in the final 3rd could be what propels Stoke forward in the second half of the season. Stoke are where they are (20th) because they can't score enough goals. They've actually conceded the same amount as 6th placed Middlesbrough.

If the move comes to fruition hopefully Danns bags himself 5-10 goals between now and the summer so Slot has something to think about heading into next season.

2.) 28 Jan 2025 14:32:10
I just don't think Stoke will do it for Danns himself. I've no doubt he will put in a serious shift but his aura seems to stem from the big game energy/ lights at Anfield. There is something about him for sure.

Latest rumours are Rayan Cherki for £19M.

Sounds like a bargain at that price but I'm not convinced he is what we need at this moment. Presumably it would just be a case of taking advantage of the fact that Lyon need to make a load of money ASAP to avoid relegation.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 20 Jan 2025 12:06:21
Looks good on highlights but never seen him play. He looks a bit like Payet/ Ben Arfa. Silky and a little bit maverick. No idea if he's good enough though, and none of his clips show how good he is without the ball.

2.) 20 Jan 2025 12:32:21
As much as I would love that I just can't see it happening in January, Cherkis attitude has been questionable so I can't see us risking disrupting the harmony amongst our current squad.

3.) 20 Jan 2025 13:06:26
Feels like a highlight reel player. Lots of farting about on the ball and very little in the way of end product. Not at all what we need right now.

4.) 20 Jan 2025 13:24:46
The more salient point for me is that we're not in need of attacking midfielders and wingers.

Can we buy a center back? Please?

5.) 20 Jan 2025 15:27:47
Lol exactly my thoughts as well, SR. It's concerning we're looking at a load of forwards when we don't need one right now. In summer we will but right now there's more important positions to attend to.

6.) 20 Jan 2025 15:34:03
Cant see us getting a CB in Jan. We have VVD, Konate, Quansah, with Gomez to come back soon.

7.) 20 Jan 2025 16:13:54
I think Liverpool have for a long time described their own recruitment as opportunistic. Ie if one of their targets becomes available at a cut price then they will move for them early despite not actively recruiting that position at the time.

Recent examples come mind Gakpo signing in January despite is desperately needing a defender or midfielder at the time and being well stocked with LW players. Another would be Mamarsashvili who signed in the summer, again no immediate need for a goalkeeper on the squad.

This seems to have been the way under Edwards and co for a while so I wouldn’t rule this one out… if he his a target and if he does become available.

8.) 20 Jan 2025 16:59:45
Not what we need but definitely a suitable signing in that it's a cheap, opportunistic signing. All we need is a poor injury record and we're good to go!

9.) 20 Jan 2025 19:10:45
That could be the case, Navy.
We might not need him but if he's available at the right price we might see that as an opportunity.
And if Jota is injured, Nunez can't score, Diaz is out of position and we get another injury, we might need him.

10.) 20 Jan 2025 19:46:15
Personally prefer us going for Kerkez this window as definitely need a LB imo. Not convinced Slot has confidence with Quansah in his long term plans either so a left sided CB more important than Cherki ??.

11.) 20 Jan 2025 20:50:08
Here’s the process on here.

STARTING POINT:

Reality - We don’t need any players

[people on here]

“We need these players right now”

[general agreement]

“Actually here are the players we HAVE to get”.

[fervour builds as unrealistic targets are discussed]

“Stupid Hughes”

[window close - no players signed]

“Stupid FSG, why didn’t they listen”.

12.) 20 Jan 2025 21:01:48
Why0Why, you were the kind of person who insisted we didn’t need to sign a defender in the January window 20/ 21 or need to sign any midfielders after the 21/ 22. Are you John W Henry’s sock account. Genuine question.

13.) 20 Jan 2025 21:24:46
Oh look, it’s a revisionist.

So are you referring to the season we lost:

Virg
Matip
Gomez
Fab
Hendo
Jota
Thiago
(All to long term injury)

Then lost to Covid, family tragedy and constant injury:

Ali
Naby
Ox
Mane
Salah
Trent

So you reckon 1 CH was what we need and we’d have been right? Which centre half was it you wanted, Clark Kent?

14.) 20 Jan 2025 21:57:37
So you are John W Henry’s sock account, cheers for confirming.

15.) 20 Jan 2025 22:19:16

{Ed025's Note - listen guys you will have to stop all these one to one arguments with other posters, its ruining the site all these childish posts trying to get the better of others, for christs sake you are all arguing with each other rather than shouting from the rooftops how good your team really are, i will be deleting any more of this crap and if it continues temporary bans will come into force...cheers..

16.) 20 Jan 2025 22:44:46
My old mum would've threatened to bang their heads together 025 :)

{Ed025's Note - my old mam wouldn,t have threatened Jonesy...she would have just done it mate.. :)

17.) 21 Jan 2025 06:57:57
Sell Elliot and buy Cherki and make a profit.

18.) 21 Jan 2025 07:42:38
Well said Ed0025. Absolutely correct it's ruining the site, and about time someone said it!

{Ed025's Note - you have got a good bunch of guys on here Beddoe but lately its become a bit toxic, i only ask for a bit of respect and tolerance to other posters mate and hope to get back to the good natured banter that is synonymous with these pages..

19.) 21 Jan 2025 09:20:07
Has anybody on here actually watched Cherki play in depth? I haven't seen him a whole lot myself but it appears to me that all the lazy dismissal of him being a highlight reel player who does nothing of any significance when it matters just seems like recyled commonplaces that have no basis in his actual performance this season or potential to develop in the future. Viktor trades in hyperbole and quick putdowns of players which makes it appear that he watches every player in world football, when it seems to me that they're the product of quick google searches peppered with spicy epithets. Remember that Cherki plays for a pretty awful Lyon team that has gone through a lot of upheaval, too.

20.) 21 Jan 2025 09:03:30
Well said Ed025. Iv stepped away a bit recently as you don't seem to be able to have any sort of opinion on here without it being criticised and being called stupid for not agreeing with an opposing one. I bet no-one on here would actually talk to someone face to face like they do on these forums and it's not on. Healthy debate is fine and it used to be like that, with some posters it still is but not many of them. Recently it's just a platform for derision from narcissist's.

In my opinion, of course.!

{Ed025's Note - we need to get back on track Westwood and make it enjoyable to be on here mate, come on guys this is your site, different opinions are fine but lets be nice as well please...cheers..

21.) 21 Jan 2025 09:45:39
Well we will see what Cherki is about tonight? But it seems like each team we are coming up against a few days before match LFC are interested in one of the teams players mind games anybody?

22.) 22 Jan 2025 05:15:39
cherki plays for lyon, not lille.

17 Jan 2025 15:16:46
Good afternoon Eds.

We are being linked with Angelo Stiller of Stuttgart. Other than he is 23, a defensive midfielder and a full Germany international I know nothing about him. Rumour has it that Stuttgart would be open to him moving this month if an offer of €40M came in for him. I have 2 questions:

1 - Have you heard of any interest from us?
2 - Is he any good because €40M for a full German international sounds reasonable to fill what has become a problem position for us.

ShipleyKopite

{Ed001's Note - sorry I don't know anything about it.}

1.) 17 Jan 2025 16:42:02
Might get Ben Stiller, but his wages will be too high.

{Ed025's Note - you have enough Fockers in your side as it is Roy.. :)

2.) 17 Jan 2025 17:09:18
Brilliant ed25 ????.

3.) 17 Jan 2025 17:47:29
That reminds me of that Stan Boardman joke Ed. You know, the one about the fockers who were in Messerschmidt's.

{Ed025's Note - yeah thats Stan at his best VV..

4.) 17 Jan 2025 17:49:25
There was also a soft link to Angelo Stiller in the summer after Zubi backtracked. He's a left-footed midfielder that likes to pass and dictate play a bit like Zubi does. He was a Bayern Academy product and took Endo's place at Stuttgart after we signed him last year.

I have no idea if he's got the physical capacity to replicate his style and impact in the Premier League. Bundesliga midfields are pretty open in the main.

5.) 17 Jan 2025 17:55:26
I’ve watched a bit of Bundesliga (admittedly on tv) and he looks ideal for us.

6.) 17 Jan 2025 19:07:24
You shouldn’t have said that Pelican, soft link, it’s given everyone a new phrase to bash the transfer team with.

7.) 17 Jan 2025 20:13:23
They deserve every bit of bashing, JordanSimon. I’m a proud enabler.

8.) 18 Jan 2025 06:02:05
We have posted two years of losses in a row FPF. We have to be careful how much we spend, without some sales we can't buy unless everyone is fine with a points deduction?

15 Jan 2025 20:33:53
Stories that Kerkez has held talks with Man Utd and ourselves and favours a move to us.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 15 Jan 2025 21:25:57
Worth noting that it goes on to say that an agreement is a formality and he will join in the summer. Also Hughes is being cited as one of the reasons he will join us.

2.) 15 Jan 2025 21:40:45
Could be summer according to the article I saw Shipley, talking £40m.

Read as well that ourselves and Arsenal are interested in Mbeumo, but the fee Brentford want is £60m. It seemed to suggest this was a January one.

Looks like Spurs fans are running out of patience with Ang as well, that’s all over the message boards, although still 15 mins to go.

Feel sorry for Everton to be honest, they can’t buy a goal.

{Ed025's Note - we cant even buy a pass JS..

13 Jan 2025 13:37:12
I don't for 1 second think the there is anything in this but this is a rumours site after all.

Apparently AS ran a story claiming that Al-Hilal are prepared to offer £84M for Nunez to take him to Saudi.

I'm a big fan of Nunez but I don't think that anybody at the club could justify ignoring such an offer.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 13 Jan 2025 14:08:19
When we do eventually sell Nunez, we will be lucky to get half what we paid for him. No way are we making a profit.

2.) 13 Jan 2025 14:25:56
Is it not £8.4m?

3.) 13 Jan 2025 14:31:39
Did Al Hilal manager used to manage him at a previous club? could strengthen the link.

4.) 13 Jan 2025 14:56:40
Seems unlikely to me.

5.) 13 Jan 2025 15:06:48
If that's true it could £4.8m, JordanSimon.

6.) 13 Jan 2025 15:24:28
8.40p.

7.) 13 Jan 2025 15:25:44
The Al Hilal manager (Jorge Jesus) worked with Darwin Nunez at Benfica for 1 season. More or less their entire coaching staff are Portuguese as well which would make it much easier for Nunez to communicate and learn. It'd be a good move for him financially and in terms of regaining his confidence. I think he'd annihilate that league. Hopefully it happens this month so we can move on. For whatever reason it just hasn't worked out at Liverpool and maybe it'll give us the money to go after Victor Osimhen (ST) as posted by Macca last week.

There's been some seemingly pretty plausible links to Sam Beukema (CB), El Hadji Malick Diouf (LB), Milos Kerkez (LB) and Stefanos Tzimas (ST) as well in recent days. Could it be a busy January? There was obviously money to spend last summer which ultimately stayed unspent, so we definitely have the financial power to really back Slot this winter.

8.) 13 Jan 2025 15:45:44
You would like to imagine the club are being proactive in trying to tie down long term targets. The silence doesn’t help Hughes who has struggled to even tie down the contracts for our 3 most important players.

I think one thing to note from the links we have seen is the fact the players we have been linked to in the past few days I have very rarely or at all heard mentioned. Would be interesting to see if Macca or anyone else has heard info on any potential Midfield/ Defensive signings.

{Ed001's Note - Hughes does not deal with contracts for current players!!!}

9.) 13 Jan 2025 15:50:02
This is 100 percent true .

They want him.

Personal terms agreed .

Wait and see

Cheers

Macce.

10.) 13 Jan 2025 15:51:37
Be nice that MK, both for us and Darwin. He’s just lost his way a bit and his confidence looks low, he’s still a decent player. Bit harsh Rigsby, I reckon we’d get £50m. I wouldn’t be surprised if Arsenal came in for him.

I’d like a LB, centre back, and centre mid, but that’s just being greedy. Out of the two I’m not sure which would be better, Kerkez or Diouf, not seen much of either.

If Nunez goes and Osimhen was to come in surely we can’t be agreeing the three new contracts as well, I just can’t see we’d have four players earning £250k plus a week.

11.) 13 Jan 2025 15:59:42
Cheers for the update Macca! You still think that might mean we push for Osimhen or would Tzimas be an alternative to him?

Great to have you back.

12.) 13 Jan 2025 16:07:05
Jordan, I really like Kerkez. He's great going forward and works hard defensively even though it's not his strong suit. Never seen Diouf or Tzimas play. Only seen Beukema once against us and he looked okay, but didn't jump out as anything special.

Osimhen would be an outstanding singing though in my opinion. I think he's as good as Haaland. Both rely on volume of chances more than clinical finishing. I watched Osimhen against Spurs this season and he scored 2 but he could've had 6. Like Haaland, Osimhen has that bullish approach in the box to power through defenders and physically dominate them to get on the end of chances. The air time he gets when challenging for headers is actually mental. If we signed him now, I think he'll score 15-20 goals in all competitions between now and the end of the season. Salah, Trent and Gakpo dropping crosses into the box for him? Yikes. He'd be well worth £250k a week (in football's strange reality of course, nobody really deserves that! ) .

13.) 13 Jan 2025 16:22:14
Sounds really exciting, kerkez and Osimhen it is then. Osimhen still pretty young as well so we’d get at least four years from him, be an amazing boost for the rest of the season.

14.) 13 Jan 2025 16:26:17
Is macca saying that Saudi club might be Nunez…. say what you like about the Saudi football, it sure has been beneficial for us!
I like Nunez but right for him to move him.

15.) 13 Jan 2025 16:30:33
It’s a shame, I really wanted him to come good but we need a guaranteed 20 goals per season striker really and he’s not quite there unfortunately.

Suffers a bit from being signed at the same time that Haaland moved to City and, as I mentioned in an earlier post, his stats aren’t appalling but just not quite good enough. If he goes then I’d wish him well.

16.) 13 Jan 2025 17:13:46
It was a joke, JS.
Nunez to Arsenal, that I would like to see. Nunez and Havertz in the same team.

17.) 13 Jan 2025 17:56:02
Wow, thanks Macca. Well, if a deal suits everyone, fine. But I would be worried if we sell him and don't bring someone in given the fitness concerns of Jota and Chiesa.

18.) 13 Jan 2025 18:05:15
Why not 74mil or 94 mil? Why 84mil?

19.) 13 Jan 2025 18:34:26
Brilliant Macca thank you.

20.) 13 Jan 2025 19:05:01
What a great point Leek!

What was the point you were making again?

21.) 13 Jan 2025 19:08:23
€84 million?

Deal deal deal!

Use it to throw at Newcastle (Isak) or Wolves (Cunha)

22.) 13 Jan 2025 19:19:52
Ron Isak is another Jota injury wise.

23.) 13 Jan 2025 19:41:52
If Darwin leaves then we should get Kavaraskhelia more than Oshimen.

24.) 13 Jan 2025 20:41:46
I’ll drive him to the airport myself.

25.) 13 Jan 2025 21:11:13
I read the article and the £84m was supposedly the cost we paid for Nunez including add ons using todays exchange rates and not the likely offer we’d get from the Saudi’s.

26.) 13 Jan 2025 21:45:04
Feel sorry for Nunez, but at the same time for the fee paid he hasn’t hit the mark. Glad Slot seems to have that ruthless streak about him. And if what Macca said is true we might indeed be busy this window.

Nice to see Danns signed a new long-term contract before heading off on loan to Sunderland!

ShipleyKopite

1.) 04 Feb 2025 14:52:56
So they have pens for new contracts! ?.

2.) 04 Feb 2025 15:24:27
Excellent news. I think the loan move will do him the world of good and it'll be exciting to see him again in pre season.

3.) 04 Feb 2025 17:39:12
It doesn't always pay to get too excited about new contracts; especially for players like Danns who won't be on big money.
It could mean that we just sell him instead of him leaving for free.
I'm sure some of us remember Suarez signing a new contract with us and I reckon Cunha's new contract will make it easy for him to get out of Wolves.

4.) 04 Feb 2025 19:01:20
More likely bringing out the quill rather than a pen @Kurt.

5.) 05 Feb 2025 14:53:54
KurtStiener69, I guess they do BUT those may only apply to players to a certain age grade of players.

02 Feb 2025 18:39:59
Fair play to Arsenal. A great result for them but Man City were abysmal in the second half. A shadow of their former selves even after wasting all that money in the January window. They made Spurs look good today.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 02 Feb 2025 18:49:41
1st goal, a gift from Akanji
2nd goal, a gift from Foden, then a very lucky deflection.
3rd goal, sunday league defending and goalkeeping.

At least now i won't be reading anymore about how City are going on a run and winning the league. I knew it all along that they are not capable, anyone who watches just the highlights would have seen how many chances most teams create against them despite them getting some wins lately.

2.) 02 Feb 2025 18:51:47
Lfc won’t be lying down so quite frankly Arsenal can do what they want.

3.) 02 Feb 2025 18:54:35
Didn't City smash it in the January transfer window? Or they might just be preparing for the future.

4.) 02 Feb 2025 19:01:30
Marmoush have looked as a fish out of water so far for City. Got to admit i thought he would be much better but i see Doku starting again once he's back from injury.

5.) 02 Feb 2025 19:03:45
Arsenal are very good defensively, but they set up with a lot of players behind the ball so they should be. For the first time in a while today though they also looked clinical, and virtually everything they hit went in. They play Forest away end of Feb, but other than that they’ve got a decent run of games coming up.

6.) 02 Feb 2025 19:04:04
Saw some of the first half and it was really weird. City were still very technically competent and for the most part have the players to play out of very tight areas, although obviously they got caught out twice in the first half.

But they struggled to play through Arsenal's midfield in that half and when they did, they just ended up playing consecutive 5 yard passes around in circles in the Arsenal third with absolutely no attempt at variation whatsoever, until they gave it away and got out run on the counter. Marmoush ran in behind a couple of times and was ignored. So he stopped doing it. Think of us at our worst this season (Notts Forest at home), except even slower with the ball.

tl;dr - Still a very talented team, but with predictable tactics. What Ed001's said for years about Pep overcoaching players seems to be coming true. At the same time, I wouldn't want to give them a head of steam to build their confidence.

7.) 02 Feb 2025 20:00:07
I’ve felt City have been beatable for a couple of years now, and it seems teams have finally realised that it isn’t compulsory to stand and watch as they walk around passing the ball to each other on the edge of the box.

8.) 02 Feb 2025 20:48:12
The biggest differences at City are losing Rodri and de Bruyne. One of them is available but he is clearly not himself.
They have been two of the best two midfielders in the PL recent seasons. They are a huge loss.

9.) 03 Feb 2025 04:23:12
City’s midfield is so poor - De Bruyne is a shadow of the player he was, Silva just isn’t that good in the middle, Kovacevic is ok but barely more than that, Matheus is shocking. They’re missing both a prime De Bruyne, and the injured Rodri, and look miles off without them.

10.) 03 Feb 2025 06:05:06
I just want City to play like that against us. no heart, no desire no guts. Just doing what they're coached to do.5 Metre passes without any imagination.

Any decent side would have torn them apart yesterday.

If LFC players would have put in that half-hearted performance, I'd be fuming.

11.) 03 Feb 2025 09:26:50
They don’t know how to cope with going behind and being subject to sustained pressure - they simply aren’t used to it. Without spending trillions and having everyone stand off and admire them Pep doesn’t know what to do.

12.) 03 Feb 2025 09:29:50
Sometimes looking at your team being out run and outfought you think it’s down to lack of effort, I used to think it every week when we were being beaten consistently pre Jurgen.

Looking back on us in our down times, and city now, I don’t think it’s necessarily lack of effort it’s often just that the team you’re up against is quicker, sharper, more physical, better. Arsenal definitely have those attributes, whereas city are more lightweight in midfield and their best players are injured or coming to the end of their careers. Happens to the best eventually.

13.) 03 Feb 2025 09:48:36
KDB did not suddenly lose his legs. He has been slowing down due to the constant injuries and over-playing for club and country since essentially 2022. Same goes for Bernardo who is well and truly cooked.

Rodri has alwo been over playing over the past 2/ 3 years and City knew they should have signed a back up but they chose the worst of them all in Kalvin Phillips so Rodri had to keep playing. His injury was going to come at some point. Kovacic was never going to be Rodri's back up and he is historically injury prone.

At the end of the day, City did this to themselves, just like we did it to ourselves with the midfield, back in the day.

14.) 03 Feb 2025 10:10:21
Gooners were always going to be too physical for this season's City side. I don't think the result was a surprise tbh.

City's season reminds me of our 22/ 23 season when the midfield legs fell off. We just couldn't muster any fight back all season. We ended up going out of the CL against Real and hobbled into 5th place.

They also bought Marmoush, like we bought Gakpo in the January window, when some midfield legs might have been more useful.

Scarily similar.

15.) 03 Feb 2025 10:47:44
I agree with you, SR. City are always great and competent on the ball so they were always going to open Arsenal up. Having said that, they no longer have the ability to dominate and smash low blocks anymore due to the lack of legs and creativity in midfield cos KDB is approaching retirement while Bernardo ain't the spring chicken he once was and Rodri is still out.

Arsenal are the best bus parkers in the league (along with Forrest) very good players who can execute it to a T. City were always going to struggle esp. after conceding first and I think that quick equaliser broke them mentally cos the avalanch started right after. Not sure signing 10 players is going to solve this issue even going into next season.

16.) 03 Feb 2025 10:31:01
You really cannot have a goal scorer of Haalands class and not feed him . I thought Man city were beaten before they kicked a ball. It looks to me that the man city players have run out of ideas and know they are out of the premier title so have given up . Pep does not seem to get what he wants from the players I can see him doing a Klopp and throw his hand in soon to be honest he looks stressed out badly and ill with football and his private life.

17.) 03 Feb 2025 13:23:34
Ppl saying Arsenal's fixtures look more favourable to ours, it's all 'what ifs' tbh

Arsenal have a decent record against teams in the top half of the table, a worse record though when playing those at the bottom

Any team can nick points off another this season, just got to focus on the next game, win it and not even really look at other teams or the table, just keep going.

01 Feb 2025 17:09:19
Make no mistake, that was a big, big win today. One of the tougher away games against a team bang in form. Huge pressure on Arsenal now tomorrow.

ShipleyKopite

1.) 01 Feb 2025 17:19:09
Agreed. Massive win against an in form side. Could have easily gone the other way with their 2 x strikes against the post.
Hoping for a draw tomorrow with Arsenal V City.

2.) 01 Feb 2025 17:31:52
What a win. I didn’t enjoy any of that game until salah’s second. Credit to Bournemouth they’re a proper proper team. Massive win ?.

3.) 01 Feb 2025 17:36:37
City will beat arsenal.

4.) 01 Feb 2025 17:40:33
I’d take a draw but hoping for a City win. If City win we are home and hosed.

5.) 01 Feb 2025 17:41:20
I will take a City win and a win at the Emptyhad though. Greedy, I know.

6.) 01 Feb 2025 17:45:29
A city win, or draw, tomorrow would be good for us. It’s a really strange league this year, we’re probably the only really consistent and predictable team, but with city having more firepower they’ll probably win it.

7.) 01 Feb 2025 17:45:42
We are a powerhouse of a team make no mistake.
Bournemouth were excellent and could have scored a couple, I’m calling a City win 1-2 tomorrow

Red Machine.

8.) 01 Feb 2025 18:05:39
Great win. Credit to Bournemouth they played well and should have scored at least one. I think the real winner is Richard Hughes, without him the game mightn’t have gone ahead.

9.) 01 Feb 2025 18:07:43
Yes they were dangerous and deserved to score a couple but we deserved the win no doubt about that imo. Bournemouth had scored 9 and conceded once vs 5th place and 3rd place before us so no matter how much you want to complain its a fantastic result and performance.

10.) 01 Feb 2025 18:14:44
Yeah I also think City will win tomorrow. Great result today, get in Liverpool! a massive three points for us, now let's keep the run going.

11.) 02 Feb 2025 11:13:46
Big win for us, right there, boys. If City wins tmrw then, Arsenal faint title hopes are on life support and a win for us v Everton might just do it for them. Let's wait and see.

I think it is worth giving Salah a shoutout for becoming the first ever Premier League player to rack up 10+ goals and 10+ assists before Christmas.

1.) 23 Dec 2024 13:00:13
He’s going to be a cracking free signing for someone ?.

2.) 23 Dec 2024 13:07:33
Think you might need a bigger boat, JK!

3.) 23 Dec 2024 13:49:53
Rome I’d be devastated if it happened mate.

4.) 23 Dec 2024 13:53:35
You, me, both, mate.

5.) 23 Dec 2024 14:01:10
I think the number of goals is important but I would like to see stats on how many individual games they have scored in. Also, whether it was the first goal, winner etc. This would give a bit of context. I know he scored near the 4th and 5th goals yesterday but so often his goals make the difference in games and therefore on the points total.

The thing about mo is how many games he scores in and how telling the contributions are. Mo scores one or two goals in a lot of games whilst others hit hat-tricks back to back and then are quiet for the next six games.

6.) 23 Dec 2024 14:15:30
KD7 that would be quite a complicated one to get. The one I did see earlier was that Salah has 330 G/ A in 339 starts.

7.) 23 Dec 2024 15:18:39
Salah's numbers are similar to Henry's. Marginally better in fact.

Make no mistake, Salah has as good a claim as anyone for being the best player to ever play in the Premier League.

8.) 23 Dec 2024 15:48:57
What a player. Liverpool Legend.

9.) 23 Dec 2024 15:50:24
-SR- I think if Salah wins 1 or 2 more league titles with us and goes past Aguero/ Cole in the all time top scorers list, nobody will dispute the legitimacy of the claims that Salah is the best anymore. Sure they might not agree (Henry, Hazard and Ronaldo often come up in the debate), but they won't mock the mere suggestion. The problem you run into in these debates, is some strange people love pointing out team honour lists even when you're discussing individual brilliance. Ridiculous really, because on that basis Milan Baros was a better striker for Liverpool than Fernando Torres.

10.) 23 Dec 2024 17:33:54
@ mk I'll be around to dispute the numbers etc.

11.) 23 Dec 2024 18:07:24
Here’s one then gents.

Where do you rate Salah as a LFC legend?

It’s only opinions so there’s no wrong answer.

{Ed025's Note - right up there i would say JK..

12.) 23 Dec 2024 18:16:35
Absolutely he's got legend status already lad's 100%.

13.) 23 Dec 2024 18:34:53
He'd be in my all time Liverpool eleven.
I'd have to find a way to fit all of Salah, Dalglish, Rush and Barnes in though.

{Ed025's Note - Salah on the right, Digger on the left, Rushie up top with Kenny as a No10...easy mate..

14.) 23 Dec 2024 18:37:56
He will be signing a new contract with Liverpool.

15.) 23 Dec 2024 18:40:22
That's a dream team there Billy mate.

16.) 23 Dec 2024 19:06:40
I'd prefer up top ed25 2bh.

{Ed025's Note - each to their own i suppose Digger..

17.) 23 Dec 2024 19:17:58
He walks into our all time best 11. Barnes as been my idol for ever, I love the man, but Salah is closing in.

18.) 23 Dec 2024 19:36:17
That's it, Ed025.
Souness and Gerrard in the middle of the park with a back four of Nicol, Hansen, van Dijk and Lawrenson.
Alisson in goal, for me.

{Ed025's Note - im a massive fan of Alisson as you know Rigsby, but personally for me Ray Clemence gets the keepers shirt mate..the rest i cant argue with..

19.) 23 Dec 2024 21:40:52
I only caught the backend of Clemence's Liverpool career so I'd have to go for Alisson.
Clemence's stats speak for themselves though.

{Ed025's Note - he was superb mate..

20.) 23 Dec 2024 22:44:51
Definitely a legend. 4th on our all time top scorer list. Unbelievable player.

21.) 23 Dec 2024 22:52:50
Tough one between Alisson and Clemence
But if you look at Clemence’s stats, I believe he kept a clean sheet every one in two games for over 600 games for us? That’s Ian rush level kind of stats for a GK. And he did win more with us (and doubt we can say he’s Milan Baros Vs Torres kind of comparison! ) .

Not sure if Lawrenson will make the cut as we do have a lot of good Full backs.

Nonetheless, it’s amazing quite a few current players will make our all time 11. For a long while, non of them will even get close. We are truly witnessing legends playing.

22.) 23 Dec 2024 23:15:53
Great calls gents.

Rigsby I think that would be the same team I would go for.

23.) 24 Dec 2024 08:44:04
I picked Lawrenson at left back simply because I had to get van Dijk in there even though it meant breaking up a brilliant centre half partnership.
Lawrenson played a bit at left back and it was a case of he has to play.
He was a brilliant footballer and could also play in midfield. I think he played there and scored the other goal in the 0-5 at Goodison with Rush getting four, obviously.
For me, the top, top players just play and find a way to get the job done. I could pick Gerrard at left back, and he would be better than a lot we've ever had, if it meant him getting into the eleven.

24.) 24 Dec 2024 10:07:47
To score that many Goals as a winger is just ridiculous really.

03 Dec 2024 11:12:09
Every time I see a Slot interview he goes up in my estimation.

When asked if Sunday was Mo's last home game against City he joked about still expecting City to be in the Premier league next season despite the 115 charges.

1.) 03 Dec 2024 12:20:37
It was a non professional and absolutely hilarious joke.

Arne Slot has left his family to manage this club when he really comes across like a family man. I get the sense he is putting in huge hours to get the best out this opportunity.

He is really smart, funny and extremely likable.

Ed002 said he was the right man to take us forward and I like to think he was right because I always get the feeling that legends can recognize fellow legends. Kindred spirit kind of thing.

I really think that for a club like Liverpool, having a manager with a sense of humour is important. He is doing so so well but a bad spell could be right around the corner so we have to work extremely hard for those three points every week. Keep working. One action, one play, one game at a time.

2.) 03 Dec 2024 12:27:23
He has unassumingly but devastatingly witty, slot repartee is yet another thing liverpool fans can look forward to week on week.

3.) 03 Dec 2024 13:01:46
I just love Slot’s goal celebrations: hands aloft and then a group embrace with his staff. Just speaks of a man who is happy to acknowledge there are many cogs in the machine and that the credit should be shared.

4.) 03 Dec 2024 13:32:35
Loved his reply to a German journalist after the Madrid game. ‘ Do you think he’s the new Kroos? ’ ‘ No, he’s Dutch not German’.

5.) 03 Dec 2024 14:33:52
Lol he's great isn't he, knows what to say and the spot and pulls out perfect statements from nowhere. A very likable character. A perfect fit for Liverpool.

6.) 03 Dec 2024 14:37:04
Arne Slot is low energy compared to Jurgen Klopp. Answers questions like a Chatgpt, added some humour OK, he tried. For me interview still Jurgen Klopp, love the way Klopp schooled those journalists.

7.) 03 Dec 2024 15:08:43
I've just seen a clip of that quote OP, absolutely hilarious. His composure is quite something, doesn't seem to let passion get the better of him which is always a good thing when being grilled by the media. I like him more and more as each week goes by.

8.) 03 Dec 2024 15:10:56
Was happy when we signed Slot as the new manager, Ed002 (god rest his cheeky soul) was absolutely right about Slot being nifty, he has good ideas and is a progressive coach without being a w*nker. He’s straight talking, he’s a real personality and he feels like the right man for the job as he believes in himself and can clearly get others to invest in his ideas. He hasn’t come in and torn everything down, but just made incremental changes and improvements. I like how he can get us to play different styles all in one match, whether pressing, controlling possession, sitting deep and countering, we look like we’re better able to mix things up. He’s also brilliant at dealing with the press.

9.) 03 Dec 2024 18:06:25
He’s fantastic.

10.) 03 Dec 2024 18:43:59
Defo doing very well, although I do worry and wonder about how long he will stay with his family staying in The Netherlands. It shouldn't be underestimated how much that can affect someone especially if he has a hugely successful season?

11.) 04 Dec 2024 13:05:09
PatrikBurgher, welcome to the Dutch version of humour. I know Dutch people. They are witty as heck, lol.

I can't believe you are all even debating this.

The best transfer between rival clubs was clearly the free transfer of James Milner from City to Liverpool!

I know these 'breaking' stories about players having signed have been proved false time and time again but it does feel like this is gaining a little bit of traction. It feeds like outlets have suddenly stopped talking about Salah and started running stories like us going for Malo Gusto as a Trent replacement.

He’s the kid who got banned last season. He tried to punch a Man Utd player and then later on succeeded in elbowing the same player in an off the ball incident.

With players like this we have to admit they may become world class but in most cases they are not good enough to get the game time at Liverpool that they need to develop into those quality players and that is why the clubs like Brighton can sign these players "on the cheap".

They can give them the game time, develop them into quality players and sell them for a huge profit. That is why the multi club setup is such a good system. If FSG owned a club that can sign these players, give them the game time and develop them before moving them on to Liverpool (or in some cases signing them and loaning them out to a sister club with guaranteed game time) it is a much better approach.

Football is a contact sport. If you genuinely think that VVD was overly physical or in any way dirty maybe you should go and watch basketball or swimming. Virg put his arm out and used his physical strength to hold Richardson off the ball. He in no way 'elbowed' him. As has been pointed out already in this thread - he is not being any more dirty or aggressive than any other defender in the Premiere League and in fact is far less dirty or aggressive than a lot of players out there. This is just another "we are doing too well, we must find a way to put a negative spin on things" thread.

Nunez was excellent last night. Defensively he got his head on pretty much every Spurs corner and his defensive work rate was phenomenal (chasing Kulusevski down etc) . Going forward he created so much space for others. In the second half Robbo and Gakpo had that side of the pitch to themselves because every time we attacked he was occupying 3 or 4 Spurs players. There was one point where there were about 7 Spurs players surrounding him and he found a great pass out to Salah.

The 'elbow' on Richarlison was looked at by VAR and they saw nothing in it and dismissed it immediately - because there was nothing in it. For me VAR should be allowed to inform the referee to book players for simulation in situations like this where they are clearly just cheating and trying to get players sent off.

I think Kluivert is doing really well of late and as a forward I would expect his goal tally is better than a midfielder.
